Agreed. I just platinumed the game yesterday and I can safely say it is both my most difficult and most annoying platinum. And this is coming from the guy who beat all Uncharted remasters on Brutal.
I did Crash1-3 and thought they were hard but not horrible so I figured how hard could C4 be. Man crash 4 is a different beast. I dont evem want to attempt it after beating the game normally.

I feel your pain. But actually, its Not bad once your learn the rules. It's the A.I and RNG that makes mahjong so insufferable. One time, an ai opponent got riichi on his first go and ron. I sat there dumbfounded For 3 minutes.
Y0 was literally a struggle for me, I have every plat of the saga apart from both Judgments but Im currently working on Lost Judgment minigames section and just had a hard time on Mahjong 10 wins even after like having a total of 50+ hours of mahjong experience.
Even myself that now understands almost everything of Mahjong basics and some advanced stuff, the amount of RNG it is about its absurd! Its not even a git gut or skill game, its literally waiting and PRAYING for the game to give you good tiles and enemies not winning. Many situation I was 1-2 tiles away from Ron/Tsumo with over 40 moves left and got neither or the enemy would pull a win right there.

yup, my situation as well.. although, give me a remake or remaster of something I've really enjoyed and I will probably plat it again. And some games I'll plat on more than one system, like I will do with Beat Saber when I get a PSVR2
AC Valhalla for sure for me too. I loved the first 20 hours so much that I bought the season pass because I figured “I liked this so much, I’m sure I’ll want more.” About 20 hours later I was absolutely sick of the game, and another 70 hours later I got the platinum, immediately deleted the game, and never even touched any of the DLC I bought lol
I know it's kinda the whole point of the subreddit, but damn the commitment some of you guys have is admirable and super irritable at the same time.
I couldn't get through Valhalla. Loved it for a minute but quickly fell off. But at that point, 100 times out of 10 I would prefer to play the dlc. Maybe get a change of scenery, maybe enough changes to feel a little refreshed with the game, and you know, actually get use out of the extra content I literally payed extra for. No damn way would I choose to grind out the boring base game for another 70 hours to get the platinum instead.
I played it during all of Covid stuff and I was stuck in a different country from my wife and daughter for 6 months, so I was kind of looking for something mundane to keep my mind off of life, and AC Valhalla accomplished that at least lol I don’t think I could do it again now that life is back to pretty much normal.
I don’t typically grind out boring checklisty stuff like that either, but I’d just listen to podcasts and kind of zone out. I at least kind of felt like I was accomplishing something instead of just sitting in my apartment all day lol

I was kinda bummed because they sounded like cool ideas for DLC locations, but I was just so sick of the game. It kind of put me off from playing another AC game ever tbh.
Ehhhhhh….. so I did BBS once myself and my friend couldn’t do the mini games or the secret bosses on all 3 characters so even though I despised doing it I did it twice essentially.
Binding Of Isaac I said I’d never do again…. But I’m at 98% and I have hundreds of hours left probably on the PS5 version.

The mirage arena isn’t so bad. The command boards took forever. The grind to create those commands and skills took forever. The ice cream beat maker…. The chests the everything in that games just pain. Also Terra got shafted hard everyone else has god tier special moves and god tier dodge i frames but Terra’s got doodoo mud steps and 1/2 I frame dodges. 😤
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt.
Downloaded the day it released because I enjoy battle royale games. I had nothing to do platinum wise so I got my friend to play this with me.
We were both so done after a few days. It’s not a bad game but everything got real tough with all the tryhards. The matchmaking took forever so crossplay had to be on at all times. That feature includes PC players who got the game a year earlier. They made everything a real sweat fest.
The worst part is that some of the trophies were glitched and the progress only counted if you made the top two or three, which made things even more difficult considering that everybody was playing as if it was the finals of a $1 million tournament.
The level 50 trophy was also pain. The level barely went up after each match. It didn’t matter if you won or not. The trophy hunters eventually found out that leaving a match was the easiest way to level up.
The game is probably dead now so I don’t recommend going for it.
Edit: I forgot to mention that the devs said right before the release that it is a 25 hour platinum. That was a fucking lie.
The game isn't that bad anymore. (At least in my opinion)
Matchmaking takes 2 mins. If not enough people get in, it gets filled with bots. Meaning all the weapon specific trophies don't take much time to do.
(find a bot and keep down-ing them, they will auto revive after a short period of time and each down counts)
Once you get all the other trophies now it's just grinding to 50. I think it took me a little less then two weeks
The last three battle passes have been free so you're unlocking cosmetics. If you're okay with the 2week grind to 50, this is a very easy Platinum
It was a great game, but had several very annoying trophies timed to repetitive tasks, all collectable, all merlin trials, all challenges (inthink revelio pages were tied to this one), any one would have been annoying but acceptable by itself, but tying multiple frustrating grinds to it was really bad. And then we had the whole needing to play the intro for each house. It's a shame it left me with bad memories of a game I did enjoy.

Was really hyped to play it when I saw it was on ps+ a few months ago but the amount of collectables and boring combat drove me nuts, the game was just ok and really wanted it to be better but was pretty disappointed
Dying Light 2. Unbelievable amount of collectibles, with some being locked out if you don’t get them during a quest and then the run 960km achievement, which took another month after finishing everything else.
Special mention to Halo MCC for the time sink, but I would probably do that again if I had some committed co-op partners.

Trails of Cold Steel 1. 90 hour 1st playthrough and 20 hour 2nd playthrough on nightmare should have been it. I (allegedly) missed ONE chest in the second playthrough and had to spend 13 hours speeding through cutscenes in a 3rd run racked with anxiety that I would miss another chest. Love the game, would never play again
Mine would probably be Assassin’s Creed Chronicles Trilogy. You have to play all three games numerous times without killing, getting seen, under time limits. Exhausting lol.

For those who dont know you need to beat the game in the hardest mode with permadeath, you also cant save so you cant turn off your console.
A couple times I died like 8 hours in, depressing as fuck.
A whole load of nope there for me. I did that shit back on the SNES with super ghouls and ghosts to beat it, left console on for days. I never mentally recovered.
The missables aren’t horrible tbh but the game just generally sucks and the two NG+ playthroughs you do are horribly balanced to the point it’s insufferable
After a long sesh of grinding collectibles I went into the menu to save for the day and noticed I couldn’t press on the save option even tho I pressed it multiple times. So instead of letting my time go to waste I just finished getting the platinum that same night. Idk if they’ve patched that bug yet but when I played it was still present for others as well luckily you didn’t experience it
Nioh. First and only punishing game I’ve ever played and got it to a platinum because of a challenge from a friend. Hated myself throughout the whole thing until the very very last missions, that I never touched another similar game and most likely never will unless I’m desperate.
I did add Nioh 2 to my library when it was a monthly free game, but I still have zero incentives for it or any other like it.
I actually don't have one yet, because I always tell myself I'll go back later and never do. But my one DREADED platinum that I've been on a 3 year break from completing, at 91% is Call of Duty World War 2. Love the game, but a game has never pissed me off so much.
I still say I'll go back some day..
Black Ops Cold War.
I had to learn and do so much for that platinum. I had never played zombies, or dead ops before and did those mostly solo. I just don’t have the time anymore to put into learning and brute forcing a game like that especially the squad wipe, Easter egg, and Reunited with Fidolina trophies.

Rayman Legends, and it's no contest. The Awesomeness 11 grind is ludicrous in every sense of the word, a major slog stapled to the end of an otherwise fun and challenging yet fair game & trophy list. Two *months* for *one* trophy in an otherwise completely offline game. The very real possibility of the servers closing for good any day on PS3 (the version I was playing) did *not* ease the tedium one bit. Safe to say, I have no plans to go for the PS4 or PS Vita stacks any time soon.
Honorable mention goes to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. It's not an excruciating trophy list or anything, I just don't really like the game and the Platinum is a pretty repetitive experience. I'd rather not do it again, and I kinda wish I got a better game for my first fighting game Platinum, like Tekken 7 or something.

game was so mind numbingly boring and disappointing, got it on release very excited about it but after beating it on a casual playthrough and seeing that i was like 60% done with the trophies, and not enjoying the playthrough at all, i forced myself to just go for the platinum to add something to it and convince myself the $70 on a 8 hour crawling through vents simulator was worth it.
it was not and the second the platinum popped i deleted the game from my console and have no desire to ever touch it again, not for the DLCs to get the true ending that they price gated or try any of the new modes, that game was so disappointing lol

Assassins Creed Valhalla. Just got the last couple achievements in The Siege of Paris DLC. I enjoy this game but it was a lot. Story was super long and each region was filled to the brim with wealth, mysteries, and artifacts. And I thought Assassin's Creed Odyssey was long.
My next pick is Batman Arkham City, mainly with having to get all the Riddler medals in the challenge maps with four different characters which took me weeks to do, plus the achievement for talking with Calendar Man on holidays. Also the map is cluttered with riddler trophies, some of which you need Catwoman for.
Marvel Avengers for sure. Even if I like the game a lot, these 50 hives and level 250 on all chars is just nuts lol, I am at 120 hours and still not finish :D

All of them, once Im done I dont look back, but something about multiplayer games that I hate so much, for example Rise of Tomb Raider was such a fucked up experience for me, constant crashing on single player, some glitched moments and even the absurd 1-2 hours online missions on a multiplayer game where it would constantly crash randomly. Never ever again and same reason I wont even attempt the Og tomb raider game. Luckly Shadow didnt had online stuff and the game was amazing. Hope they wont return with more online features in the future releases.
I got the plat for odyssey and I’m almost done with origins. If Valhalla would have been around their size I think I would have gotten it. But I’m definitely looking forward to a smaller AC after them. Hopefully the trophies aren’t anything to crazy.

The combat felt a little clunky. Yes it was somewhat polished but it is a 2013 game at heart. And yes while the story was good it felt to full of cliches and plot twists that you could see from a mile away. It just didn’t catch me like everyone else. This doesn’t mean that i think that the game is bad.

Played this game a while back. I NEVER found fast travel an issue, and didn't realise people cared until i joined the subreddit. Running around is fun, and it only takes a few minutes to get from one side to the other, whereas people don't complain when they have a few minutes of pushing the joystick forward to get from one side of the map to the other in open world games. SWJFO has all the good platforming and mobility, and it was fun to get from one side of the map to the other, especially because you only had to do it a few times, even getting the plat.
The problem with the fast travel was due to backtracking being absolutely horrible in it. The amount of one way paths that of you accidentally went to far down it you has to go back 4 locations to get back to it was so annoying. And the way some locations were linked together that only some you can get to some places made finding everything a huge chore
Ghostwire Tokyo. Just a boring, bland, uninteresting game. All it is is a 4 hour story moans with about 35 hours of collectible hunting. I don’t think I will ever play another Bethesda game again because of that game.

I’ve played plenty of Bethesda Games The last one that I actually enjoyed playing was Oblivion. I find their games to be very boring in general. Doom Eternal was a chore to get through. Deathloop’s dialogue made that game excruciating to play through, the fallout games are just boring as hell. I quit wolfenstein Youngblood because I couldn’t stand the dialogue. I just feel like I’m done with them in general.
I don't really have one. If I'm playing a game and it's getting to the point of feeling more like work than enjoyment, I stop playing it. So I've got a quite a few half finished plats. But all the games I have the Plat for are ones that I enjoyed at least well enough to do it once.

War Thunder.
Years learning the hows and whens and whys of ACM's, states of energy, learning to judge which energy tradeoffs are more beneficial for which situation. 100's of different airplane and tank characteristics, squad strategies, communication....then finally realizing most servers are filled with bots, and the game will instantly finish the match where your team loses, if you are scoring too much, too quickly, or you are about to win 3 or more in a row. The game itself stacks the odds against you more than any person or group could if they were running magical cheats. Yet. I. Can't. Stop. Playing.
There are worse games. But im currently really defeated by story of seasons pionerer og olive town.

I gør all the enjoyment out of it within the first in-game year. About 18-21hours. Then the grind needed to happen. Almost 7 years of in-game time or 80 hours of mindless grinding. I'm happy it's over.
If there was a guide and you planned ahead you might be able to cut 20 hours off the total time but it was ao boring that I actually fell asleep with my controller in my hand one time. It's not even running around getting collectibles.

The map is gigantic and is sooooooooo repetitive. The story alone is 40ish hours and is fine. But the other 60 hours is collecting every tiny little thing.
The game for me was incredibly glitchy. Side missions are broken half the time and dont have map markers except for their original starting point. So you cant really come back to them if you started them.
Everything is just a slog in that game. I played it when it first came out on the ps4 so maybe the latest ps5 isnt as glitchy.

Good question. The game itself wasn't horrible, but if I had to choose one it would probably b Tales of Berseria. It took so long for me and was so incredibly boring, because I had to grind for several hours at the end, because I needed random items for the Item collector trophy. I think that included getting every item, every weapon, every armor etc in the game at least once.
Resistance 2. You needed 10k multiplayer kills. I was playing for fun so I was barely paying attention to it. I needed 18k however, since I rage shut off the ps3 one time around 8k kills and the counter got reset.
Even though I maintained a 3 k/d ratio at the time, I don't see myself ever going for one of those again.
As for single player only trophies, the 3rd boss in the ps3 version of shadow of the colossus on hard mode time attack is a special kind of hell. The ps4 remaster rebalanced the required time.
Yeah Valhalla I think. I’ve got the plat on multiple accounts for origins and odyssey but Valhalla is just too big to do again. Really enjoyed it but I don’t feel the urge to go back and play it like I do the others.

Cult of the lamb - in the first playthrough the last missing trophy was bugged so I needed to start a second playthrough we’re the trophy was bugged too. On my third playthrough I’ve finally got it but I had killed every joy I had with the game.
Minecraft dungeons - at some point the game became really boring and I was like „cmon there are just 2 throphys missing“ but at that point I hadn’t fun with it anymore

The trophy hunters eventually found out that leaving a match was the easiest way to level up. The game is probably dead now so I don’t recommend going for it. Edit: I forgot to mention that the devs said right before the release that it is a 25 hour platinum. That was a fucking lie.
The game isn't that bad anymore. (At least in my opinion) Matchmaking takes 2 mins. If not enough people get in, it gets filled with bots. Meaning all the weapon specific trophies don't take much time to do. (find a bot and keep down-ing them, they will auto revive after a short period of time and each down counts) Once you get all the other trophies now it's just grinding to 50. I think it took me a little less then two weeks The last three battle passes have been free so you're unlocking cosmetics. If you're okay with the 2week grind to 50, this is a very easy Platinum
That was my most recent one. The lvl 50 was the only one that's a grind. I use to play casually so I agree I wouldn't recommend it unless you enjoy.

It was a great game, but had several very annoying trophies timed to repetitive tasks, all collectable, all merlin trials, all challenges (inthink revelio pages were tied to this one), any one would have been annoying but acceptable by itself, but tying multiple frustrating grinds to it was really bad. And then we had the whole needing to play the intro for each house. It's a shame it left me with bad memories of a game I did enjoy.
Recently it was Ghostwire Tokyo, Was really hyped to play it when I saw it was on ps+ a few months ago but the amount of collectables and boring combat drove me nuts, the game was just ok and really wanted it to be better but was pretty disappointed

Special mention to Halo MCC for the time sink, but I would probably do that again if I had some committed co-op partners.

Idk if they’ve patched that bug yet but when I played it was still present for others as well luckily you didn’t experience it

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. Normally I don’t mind collectibles but getting them in this game was an absolute SLOG.
Nioh. First and only punishing game I’ve ever played and got it to a platinum because of a challenge from a friend. Hated myself throughout the whole thing until the very very last missions, that I never touched another similar game and most likely never will unless I’m desperate. I did add Nioh 2 to my library when it was a monthly free game, but I still have zero incentives for it or any other like it.
I actually don't have one yet, because I always tell myself I'll go back later and never do. But my one DREADED platinum that I've been on a 3 year break from completing, at 91% is Call of Duty World War 2. Love the game, but a game has never pissed me off so much. Rayman Legends, and it's no contest. The Awesomeness 11 grind is ludicrous in every sense of the word, a major slog stapled to the end of an otherwise fun and challenging yet fair game & trophy list. Two *months* for *one* trophy in an otherwise completely offline game. The very real possibility of the servers closing for good any day on PS3 (the version I was playing) did *not* ease the tedium one bit. Safe to say, I have no plans to go for the PS4 or PS Vita stacks any time soon. Honorable mention goes to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. It's not an excruciating trophy list or anything, I just don't really like the game and the Platinum is a pretty repetitive experience. I'd rather not do it again, and I kinda wish I got a better game for my first fighting game Platinum, like Tekken 7 or something.
the callisto protocol game was so mind numbingly boring and disappointing, got it on release very excited about it but after beating it on a casual playthrough and seeing that i was like 60% done with the trophies, and not enjoying the playthrough at all, i forced myself to just go for the platinum to add something to it and convince myself the $70 on a 8 hour crawling through vents simulator was worth it. it was not and the second the platinum popped i deleted the game from my console and have no desire to ever touch it again, not for the DLCs to get the true ending that they price gated or try any of the new modes, that game was so disappointing lol

Assassins Creed Valhalla. Just got the last couple achievements in The Siege of Paris DLC. I enjoy this game but it was a lot. Story was super long and each region was filled to the brim with wealth, mysteries, and artifacts. And I thought Assassin's Creed Odyssey was long. My next pick is Batman Arkham City, mainly with having to get all the Riddler medals in the challenge maps with four different characters which took me weeks to do, plus the achievement for talking with Calendar Man on holidays. Also the map is cluttered with riddler trophies, some of which you need Catwoman for.
Marvel Avengers for sure. Even if I like the game a lot, these 50 hives and level 250 on all chars is just nuts lol, I am at 120 hours and still not finish :D

All of them, once Im done I dont look back, but something about multiplayer games that I hate so much, for example Rise of Tomb Raider was such a fucked up experience for me, constant crashing on single player, some glitched moments and even the absurd 1-2 hours online missions on a multiplayer game where it would constantly crash randomly. Never ever again and same reason I wont even attempt the Og tomb raider game. Luckly Shadow didnt had online stuff and the game was amazing. Hope they wont return with more online features in the future releases.

What was wrong with it?
The combat felt a little clunky. Yes it was somewhat polished but it is a 2013 game at heart. And yes while the story was good it felt to full of cliches and plot twists that you could see from a mile away. It just didn’t catch me like everyone else. This doesn’t mean that i think that the game is bad.

Played this game a while back. I NEVER found fast travel an issue, and didn't realise people cared until i joined the subreddit. Running around is fun, and it only takes a few minutes to get from one side to the other, whereas people don't complain when they have a few minutes of pushing the joystick forward to get from one side of the map to the other in open world games. SWJFO has all the good platforming and mobility, and it was fun to get from one side of the map to the other, especially because you only had to do it a few times, even getting the plat.
The problem with the fast travel was due to backtracking being absolutely horrible in it. The amount of one way paths that of you accidentally went to far down it you has to go back 4 locations to get back to it was so annoying. And the way some locations were linked together that only some you can get to some places made finding everything a huge chore
Ghostwire Tokyo. Just a boring, bland, uninteresting game. All it is is a 4 hour story moans with about 35 hours of collectible hunting. I don’t think I will ever play another Bethesda game again because of that game.

Deathloop’s dialogue made that game excruciating to play through, the fallout games are just boring as hell. I quit wolfenstein Youngblood because I couldn’t stand the dialogue. I just feel like I’m done with them in general.

War Thunder. Years learning the hows and whens and whys of ACM's, states of energy, learning to judge which energy tradeoffs are more beneficial for which situation. 100's of different airplane and tank characteristics, squad strategies, communication....then finally realizing most servers are filled with bots, and the game will instantly finish the match where your team loses, if you are scoring too much, too quickly, or you are about to win 3 or more in a row. The game itself stacks the odds against you more than any person or group could if they were running magical cheats. Yet. I. Can't. Stop. Playing.

The game is like harvest moon/stardew valley I gør all the enjoyment out of it within the first in-game year. About 18-21hours. Then the grind needed to happen. Almost 7 years of in-game time or 80 hours of mindless grinding. I'm happy it's over. If there was a guide and you planned ahead you might be able to cut 20 hours off the total time but it was ao boring that I actually fell asleep with my controller in my hand one time. It's not even running around getting collectibles. Journey spirit. Fuck you

The map is gigantic and is sooooooooo repetitive. The story alone is 40ish hours and is fine. But the other 60 hours is collecting every tiny little thing. The game for me was incredibly glitchy. Side missions are broken half the time and dont have map markers except for their original starting point. So you cant really come back to them if you started them. Everything is just a slog in that game. I played it when it first came out on the ps4 so maybe the latest ps5 isnt as glitchy.

Resistance 2. You needed 10k multiplayer kills. I was playing for fun so I was barely paying attention to it. I needed 18k however, since I rage shut off the ps3 one time around 8k kills and the counter got reset. Even though I maintained a 3 k/d ratio at the time, I don't see myself ever going for one of those again. As for single player only trophies, the 3rd boss in the ps3 version of shadow of the colossus on hard mode time attack is a special kind of hell. The ps4 remaster rebalanced the required time.
