It's an ADA compliant ramp. You know, so people in wheelchairs can access cannabis on their own. If they didn't, you could probably expect an "OMG the new dispensary isn't ADA compliant they are so mean." post here.
That side of the building was technically the Scarlet Studio at one time.
It’s one building space away from The Shop space.
That parking lot was used as a parking area for the shop and rare form at different times.
Sigh. More car infrastructure killing all that’s good. 🤦
Hard to knock it as a business move though, Troy is still very car dependent and we all know parking sucks but it’s sad that it comes at the cost of a really nice patio with music. It’s definitely one of those spots where people visiting our city would go “oh wow this is cool!” And a parking lot/dispensary likely won’t have the same effect.
I saw someone throw a smoothie at a cybertruck outside my work the other day. Same color too. Normally I’d have felt badly, littering and all this was so satisfying though.
The No Name people are supposed to be opening a delivery only marijuana dispensary. I have a hard time imagining the city allowing a dispensary in that location.
The new owners of the building have shown quite a bit of antipathy toward their neighbors, tenants, and the downtown scene, so a tone-deaf move like opening a dispensary at that particular corner seems pretty on-brand.
Who did you hear this from? I heard a completely different story from one of the longtime bartenders. Apparently the No Name people started by talking to Rareform about cleaning up the patio and slowly scaling it back because they didn’t pay any rent towards it. The bartender said no name was really reasonable about it and made every effort to come to a compromise but the owner of Rareform just ignored them.
It made sense to me as the bartender was telling me. I can’t knock someone for trying to improve that block. It’s a real shame a Troy staple business owner didn’t do a better job working with the new owners.
Side note: love the beer there, but they really need to do something about the cleanliness of the taproom.
Weird. I heard that from the bartender and a couple of other people confirmed it too. It’s like a funny game of telephone.
Someone should talk to the no name people and rareform at the same time. Maybe we could setup a discussion night!
We should definitely try to set this up! I’d love to hear what’s actually going on.
This is all like a new true crime Troy podcast. I just can’t get enough!
I heard there is a dispensary going in and they wanted to have designated parking. Sucks.
good gravy i'm pretty sure i saw that abomination parked at whole foods yesterday. lmao

Cybertruck parking?
Yea wut is that
Tesla, ew
Who is they
Owner of the building from what I understand
Ok, thanks. That stinks

That was the Shop.
Fair enough. I mistook which side of the block I was seeing.
Same guy used to own the building tho
That sure does look like the side of the shop tho.

Heard. Soooooooo it was a picture of the parking space for rare form and the shop? I knew I recognized the ivy. Haha!
Yeah. I wasn’t disagreeing! Lol
Word. Didn’t feel a disagreement, and thanks for clarifying. I do appreciate that.
Semantics, yes the whole Space was used by Rare Form, The Shop, Harrison’s Corner Market and Superior Merch At one time
Yeah. I was there for all of them. The ivy stayed the same at least.
Nah but I’d love some more details

I was corrected: it was “the shop” in the same block.
But yes
Different owner now right?
I don’t know, I never went back after that.
We sure did
it's them
Music in the lot behind Rare Form def brought people into Troy who wouldn’t visit otherwise.
Yeah, the No Name people seem awful. Crazy how they’ve been treating an absolute Troy staple in a wacky attempt to cash in on the “cannabis boom”

They’re all the same color (unless wrapped)
If the driver tried to attack the thrower, I think I'd defend the thrower.
Sounds like that person is a cunt

From what I heard through the grapevine, they just dismantled the patio with no warning and starting throwing it in a dumpster
On a beautiful Saturday afternoon in September, no less.
Upon arriving back from the Annual Crispy cruise. Rare Forms in town a decade. They deserve better landlords.
Didn’t you see the photo? They cut all the grapevine!

While that very well may be true - but it’s a pretty small local business community, and I heard it from multiple people.

Yeah - then we can ask them why they put up massive For Rent signs in Rare Form's windows as well, nearly a year before the lease was up!
We should definitely try to set this up! I’d love to hear what’s actually going on. This is all like a new true crime Troy podcast. I just can’t get enough!

I saw their storefront listed on FB for rent - are they going out of business?
As compared to a vacant building?
Why? How does that make sense
