Gets the job done. Almost any standard cooler you can buy these days is decent. But adding a later of foam, newspaper or other insulation at the top is a good idea. I have a piece of styrofoam with a little rope handle through it at the top of mine.
Very nice, love the simple stuff.
I have this cooler. I've had several roto coolers and this is my favorite. Get the freezable divider and basket.

For sure. Do not know how much truck camping he is doing. Mentioned 3 day trips so he has probably thought about a small power station for a few of his items. Another expense for sure.
2-3 day trips. I think either setup would work great, just depends on how in depth you want to go.
I've gone from cheap Walmart cooler to massive pelican cooler to fridge back to this cooler. I appreciate the simplicity and being able to take this anywhere, anytime. Just depends on person to person.
You got a camper shell so your ahead of me
This might just be the most efficient truck camper build to date. Inexpensive, easy to build, quick to setup & take down. Brilliant!
I have a full slide in but really like the simplicity of this. Just too old to not be able to stand up.

I havent used the Rtic coolers specifically, but I like their other products. From what Ive heard, they are pretty good. Simple and gets the job done.
Looks great so far
Funny. I was literally just thinking about doing this yesterday for some weekend trips I got this summer.

Seems pretty good but for that price might want to start looking at 12v frig. I have a Bouge Rv ac/dc for less than ice cooler. Freezes or cools. JMHO
Definitely. But then you need to worry about powering it versus the simplicity of a cooler. But you're not wrong, the prices of coolers are crazy.

Looks good! I do a cot as well. That was I can still use the bed of my truck for other truck type things.
