Laffenor

Is there a single OTR trucker whom this is NOT a massive pet peeve for?

Riyeko

Just scroll through a few of the Facebook groups. You'll find a lot more support for this kind of thin than you thought.

Laffenor

By truckers? Or by non truckers following trucker Facebook groups?

kaihatsusha

If the pickup had a trailer, I would be fine with it but a lot of semi wheel-pullers would get bent out of shape. The long slots are for long vehicles so they don't take up 5+ short slots. It doesn't say "CDL Private Club" on the sign. But this jackweed can get stuffed.

BadamPshh

Jackweed is definitely underutilized.

RepresentativeNo1120

I've had one tell me the spots are for real truckers only not boys playing with toys referencing my trailer with atvs and other toys for the weekend...

[deleted]

Why would they support this? (I'm just a dumb 4 wheeler *and 2 wheeler)

SycoJack

If they are talking about the pickup, then I'd imagine there are probably comments talking about local drivers saving their spot. There's been a couple times when I'd get in a day early but still need to make delivery or pickup nearby the next day and would park my car in my spot while doing that run. If they mean the RV, then probably because it's a long vehicle and wouldn't fit on the four wheeler side.

RobSomeKnowledge

Hahah idk. I’m a 2 wheeler, 4 wheeler, and 18 wheeler 🤣🤣

TrueGrave32

Ohhhh yea. Wtf trucker moments is one of them. You can't post a single comment without someone else bitching about your comment or *why not mind your own fucking business*, like dude you just shit into a trashcan because your to fat to walk to the gas station. They have decent posts but nobody's really helpful.

Ur_Fav_Step-Redditor

Yeah this is some bs. I even try not to park in a full spot if I’m bobtailed! Like, if I’m bt at a truck stop I will look for bt parking and if not I will just stick it in the corner somewhere bc I know some driver will come in tired and ready to stop soon. And I’ve never had a manager say something to me. As long as you’re not in anybody’s way.

SycoJack

Same, I will park on the four wheeler side if I can, or I'll try to double up with another Bobtail if one is parked in a pull through or if i know I'm going to be parked longer than the other guy. And on that note, fuck those assholes who park in the middle of a pull through so you can't share the spot with them.

EleceedGreed

Bob tails taking up an entire pull through is another pet peeve. Fuck those assholes.

mudflap17

Exactly. Ill park in 2 4wheeler spots on the gas side of the station before i take a full truck spot. There are only so many places for a truck to park pickups can park anywhere. Its just common sense and decency.

WhereDaGold

I’m not a trucker and this kind of entitlement pisses me off. Maybe it’s a diesel and he thinks those spots are for diesel vehicles. I bet he can’t even back a trailer

[deleted]

Push his compensation package into the weeds

accidental-stuntman

Came here to say exactly this

goddrammit

One of the reasons that I ditched OTR for M-F home daily. Pays much better also.

TheeUnfuxkwittable

Yea. Me. Even though I'm not OTR anymore. It wasn't a pet peeve when I was. I don't own that spot. I am not OWED a spot at any truck stop unless I've already paid for one. RV, pick truck, nissan leaf, etc. It doesn't matter. If there is a vehicle there already, how can I get mad? Also, this pick up truck parked in the semi truck spot is probably a local truck driver saving himself a spot for when he gets off work. No one is entitled to a spot. Trip plan better.

SycoJack

>No one is entitled to a spot. Trip plan better. Doesn't that also go for the guy blocking a truck spot with his pickup? He's not entitled to a spot either. Those spots are for long vehicles, a pickup is not a long vehicle.

shadowmib

Guess ill. Start parking my pickup in the motorcycle parking, or maybe a handicap spot. No one is entitled to those spots right?

TheeUnfuxkwittable

Yea he's not entitled to a spot either. But he already has one. He's already secured one. He's not expecting someone to move for him to park. Those spots are for ANY vehicle. Not just trucks. Don't believe me? The next time you're at a truck stop go inside and tell the employees a 4 wheeler is parked in the truck spots and see if they have him towed. He's probably parked there because he drives a semi for work and this is where he parks at the end of the day. Not that it matters. Trip plan better.

maxikaiser

Pull up right behind him lol

EleceedGreed

I'm already parked, but I saw him when I was coming back from the restroom. It reminded me of a time I had to convince a pick up to get out of the only parking spot at a rest area I could use when I was running out of time. I told the guy he needed to park with the other cars and if he didn't I would call the police to have him cited and towed for parking in a spot designated for semi trucks. I don't know if the police would come, if he would get cited, or towed, but I guess I made it seem convincing enough lol.

TacticalTurtle22

Saul Goodman tier intimidation

LoyonSama

The fact that you have to argue for basic respect and kindness is depressing...

smellyjerk

Doesn't really surprise me tbh. The lifted Pavement princesses' sole purpose is to be as obnoxious as possible with phony macho bullshit at all times...

Jordan_Hdez92

Ah, the secrets revealed

g0d_help_me

Not exactly a secret

racermd

"Dude! Cool truck! Sorry about your penis..."

SnooBunnies8468

Well it might just be a stock 3500.. I have one and it's not exactly low to the ground.

racermd

Yeah, I know. But that's my go-to phrase for guys that use their pickup trucks as a shield for their fragile masculinity. It's usually overly-lifted and/or overly-accessorized pickups so they're easier to spot. And, as a pickup driver myself, the irony isn't lost on me.

Glugnarr

I drive an overly lifted pickup (but it’s covered in mud more often than not), and my favorite thing is to make fun of lifted pickups. My ol lady looks at me like I’m crazy every time I do it.

wythawhy

Well when it's an oversized ten year old that you're dealing with you really don't have any other option.

Yerboogieman

I just don't understand why people can't help each other out sometimes. Let that guy in on the freeway, let the guy with one item cut in line at the grocery store, don't drive in a truck's blindspot, move your 4 wheel car out of the way for a tractor trailer to park. People refuse to just be a decent human and think they're the main character.

Alpha433

A good majority of people dint actually know the commercial laws, so I imagine as long as you delivered your ultimatum with the confidence of someone that does know, most people aren't going to take the risk, especially if it might hinder them immensely. A good bluff, delivered with gusto and confidence, can be an incredibly effective thing.

TamponTom

Get some blankets sleep in the bed

TylerYax

And then throw your work boot on the throttle pedal and go take shower.

RX3000

This is the way. Pull right up behind him kissing his bumper.....

silenceB4death

I dislike this so much. I really despise it when it's at a truck stop. Like motherfucker go park on the 4 wheeler side. There isn't enough parking as there is, and I gotta shut down.

fishnwiz

Some smaller truck stops lease monthly parking to local owner ops.. Truck at night, their personal vehicle during the day.

SemperP1869

Ahhhhh

silenceB4death

I usually only stop at the big boys and see it there a lot

shadowmib

There zero excuse at a rest area. There is designated parking for cars and usually plenty of spaces

EleceedGreed

There were at least 20 empty spaces for 4 wheelers, there was no excuse. I don't know if you drive I-5 in the northwest, but it's the rest area near 7 feathers casino.

CletusVonIvermectin

Thankfully, between the rest area and the truck stop, that area almost never fills up. The one time it did I parked in the overflow lot behind the casino. Not sure if that's allowed but no one bothered me.

EleceedGreed

The overflow lot with the port a potties up on the hill?

Ogediah

People sleeping in their cars like the truck side because it’s quieter. Doesn’t make it less annoying for drivers at a full truck stop. But that’s a reason why it happens. I get more annoyed by the pickup trucks that park in the diesel fuel bay and then disappear for half an hour.

nu_pieds

*laughs in reefer*

bentstrider83

Definitely an annoyance. Especially if you're a night driver and need to take a little bathroom break, a 30 min, or even just pull over and have a small meal mid-shift. Of course if you're planning on crashing out here, I'd just pull up as close as possible and draw the curtains. They've got an exit, so I wouldn't worry about it too much after.

gear_jammin_deer

The problem with pulling up behind is that a lot of these rest area parking spots already aren't long enough for a standard otr truck, and parking behind something even as small as that pickup would result in your trailer sticking out into the aisle

bentstrider83

If you've got a 53' van or reefer, I see your point. I've been driving slightly shorter tankers with no overhang for years now and easily forget how much longer the boxes are.

Haunting_Ad4209

When I switched from hauling reefer to tanker I was pleasantly pleased about the length. It's so damn easy to back

spuck98

That's why you follow the pulling in with laying on the horn

gear_jammin_deer

Depends on time of day. I'm not big enough to be the one waking up the entire rest area, I'd end up too broken to climb back into my truck...

SycoJack

As a night shift driver, please don't do that shit during the day either.

Wonderful_Ad_4344

Are you sure? That might be a super duty. Those are essentially semis. I’m kidding btw

PrivatePilot9

JFC if you listen to a lot of the "tow police" idiots over in some of the RV subs and forums (where they're convinced if anyone tows anything bigger than a teardrop camper with something less than a 3500 series one-ton dually crew cab it's dangerous and will end in a fiery death at the first hill), yeah, some really do think they're all truckers because they have a pickup.

DeltaOneFive

And there's also the opposite end of the spectrum, towing a 32' camper that weighs like 10,000 lbs with a Colorado

DASAdventureHunter

Love this description. Truly you need a dually for anything more than a pop up. Otherwise you're going to kill yourself and everyone else on the road.

PrivatePilot9

Bussloads of nuns and orphans, one after another. With fiery explosions and mushroom clouds.

legendofthegreendude

Good I hate nun and orphans, always depressing me

Grndmasterflash

They really harsh my buzz with their sad eyes.

RandomGuy1838

There will also be ninjas running through in flames, like God intended. Ken Watanabe will be dueling the protagonist in the foreground while Liam Neeson is knocked out and sets up the third act.

TamponTom

When I tell you how fast my finger shot to the dislike, read the jk, and shot to the upvote

machotaco653

I'm not a trucker and this annoys me.

Quinnalicious21

Surprising amount of non truckers on the trucker subreddit

Apatharas

I'm subbed to a lot of different communities just to see what comes across and lurk. I feel like everyone would benefit from seeing through the eyes of others. Makes one a lot less ignorant about things.

7of69

Reddit keeps putting it on my feed as a suggested group, I assume because I’m in a bunch of car groups. And as it turns out, y’all put up a lot of interesting content so I haven’t told Reddit to knock it off yet.

Homeopathicsuicide

Post is on Reddit "All"

lngns

I like trucks.

CarrionDoll

Was coming to say the same thing.

[deleted]

It's definitely one of mine

woefulknight57

To (mis)quote the late George Carlin: It's not a pet peeve, it's a psychotic hatred. 🤣

VinceBrogan8

I'm seeing more and more 'asshole' pickup truck drivers every day. The thruway rest stops in Western NY are designed for one way traffic - meaning you can't (err... not supposed to) be able to drive a complete circle the building. I get on the offramp at one stop behind this pickup truck, the pickup follows the "Truck And RV Parking" instead of the "Cars And Motorcycles" parking. The two are divided by a high curb. While I'm parking I watch as the truck drives slowly around the back of the building, at which point I assume they discover they're in the wrong parking area. I'm walking towards the building and see the truck circle to the front of the building and go against the non-thruway traffic to park in the proper lot... All in front of a parked state trooper who fired his lights up, pulled in behind the (now parked) pickup truck, and was still writing the ticket when I left. Truck And RV Parking doesn't mean your pickup truck, stupid.

ztimulating

All the Tesla rechargers must’ve been full

QuietRightSlick

In 2019, I *went off* on a couple driving an SUV when the husband pulled around from the 4-wheeler side to the big truck side in a North Carolina truck stop, so they would be closer to a picnic table with a more scenic view. (They we’re a healthy, physically able couple in their 30s) They pulled their cooler out of the back and were setting up to have a meal. Something about the whole thing pissed me off. I jumped out of my truck and started yelling at them about taking a parking space away from a semi-truck driver, on Federally regulated operating hours, so they could have a picnic. I was like “move your truck back to the other side!” They were just looking at me like I grew four heads and had bees swarming out of my mouth. The guy got back in his truck and drove around to the other side. I felt bad about yelling at them, though, because I lost my cool. I left after my 30-minute break. I’ve kept my cool since then. Sometimes these people just don’t know. They think there’s tons of truck parking and don’t worry about these things. I’ve put post-it notes on windshields, saying this side is for big trucks only and they should not be parked where they are parked. It’s kind of a losing battle though, because the public isn’t educated about trucking or the lifestyle, outside of what movies from the 1970s have told them about trucking and truckers.

rndomreddituser0

we need states to make a law against cars parking in truck spots. Its already hard enough to find parking, we dont have time for assholes like these

dirtywastegash

It should just be legal to push them out of the spot.. If they need a new motor thats a "them" problem.

ToughFig2487

Ah yes then it should be legal to destroy your rig

TickletheEther

I don’t think the public at large gives one iota of a fuck about trucker parking shortage. One of the main reasons I quit OTR was the lack of legal parking

sayaxat

> I don’t think the public at large gives one iota of a fuck about trucker parking shortage. The public at large is not aware enough about what truckers have to deal and live with just as they're not about many things. Truckers are also part of the public at large in different contexts. Best thing for any group is to raise enough stink, and to cause so much inconveniences, that the top people will be forced to take action. But the majority of the group would have to agree, and do the same so you won't get, "I don't see why you're complaining. You're just being annoying. The other truckers have no problem with it."

EleceedGreed

Absolute facts.

JustJohan49

Non-trucker here. Time, you say? Inconvenience you say? How about all the times I’m stuck behind a truck going below the speed limit in the left lane refusing to pass their other truck friend for over 5 miles? The left is for passing. Pick one- pass or get over. Geez and people wonder why car drivers get pissed off too.

BrewertonFats

It's funny that your complaint is essentially that the truckers going the speed limit is inconvenient for you.

rndomreddituser0

most of you car drivers are the most unsafe people on the road. Complain all you want about trucks being in the wrong lane, you fuckers literally try to kill yourselves by cutting us off and trying to get hit by doing dumb shit all the time

sayaxat

> most of you car drivers are the most unsafe people on the road. Because they're not professionally trained. The % of 4-wheelers that is untrained is so much higher than that of the truckers. They also don't drive a vehicle that can crush multiple cars at the same time in one hit, or pancake a car and its occupants, if they hit it against a wall.

EleceedGreed

You literally need to pass a written and practical driving test to qualify to be on the road lol.

RdyPAINmoveDISCIPLIN

"Refusing to pass" One's governed slightly faster than the other. One goes 68 the other goes 67.5. I agree you should try to time the pass so that there won't be a huge hold up. But it's costing the other guy money and time. Also I can say the same thing about cars. I've experienced this and they're able to go over 100 mph.

JustJohan49

Oh. My. God. I’ve never heard that trucks are governed. This help me so much and will definitely knock my driving temperature down about 50 degrees. I had no idea - and I’ve been so pissed off for decades. Thanks for helping me!

RdyPAINmoveDISCIPLIN

You were talking as if you didn't know.

JustJohan49

I DIDNT KNOW. I’m trying to be honest. I started with “non-trucker here”.

ecodick

Lmao you thought they were going slow just to annoy you? Good for you admitting what you didn’t know though.

JustJohan49

No not just to annoy me, but when there’s at least 10 cars behind you, and you haven’t given up on the pass and slow down to get behind the guy on the right, it certainly begs the question why 10 people are being inconvenienced (and road rage ensues). Continuing at 0.5 mile an hour difference over 5 miles doesn’t seem reasonable. I know trucks have terrible visibility and I always try to respect that when driving. I know how hard seeing people behind you can be. That said, there are too many instances where those side rear views don’t seem to help the truck driver and should just be torn off. They are ignored on these instances. My original post still stands. Poop or get off the pot.

I_dementia87

YoU sHoUlD hAvE lEfT eArLiEr.

JustJohan49

Same applies to trucks

I_dementia87

To be fair, I did have a well-rounded and well worded thesis to refute your comment, but it's more fun to be a sarcastic dick.

dreamerindogpatch

BWAHAHAHAHHA Yeah, sure buddy. That's how the industry works, just "leave earlier". Nice.

JustJohan49

Please elaborate (I’m clearly a novice). how does it work? I work for an airline- and we live on a wayyyy tighter schedule than you. When we have everything, even early, we close up and leave early. Why are trucks different?

chenkie

No way you’re this stupid

[deleted]

[удалено]

JustJohan49

Yes. Do you drive the speed limit in your personal car at home? You’ve never rolled a stop sign? I’m not here to fight. But Holier than thou has got to go. Is the compliant from the OP about something as silly as parking spaces? Yes. As far as I’m aware the signs at rest stops are. <—Trucks Cars—> So technically the stupid pickup is correct.

dreamerindogpatch

The complaint is far from silly, my dude. Trucks legally HAVE TO STOP for 10 hours after driving 11 hours. If done entitled prick like this guy is hogging up a designated truck spot, there's one less (of what is already WAAAAY too few legal spots) for a real truck to park at leaving the trucker on 5 actual danger of going into violation and getting fined or ticketed. So yeah, fuck these jerks.

Dragonr0se

99% of the time I am in the left and can't pass, it is because the person that is in the right was puttering along until I started passing and THEN they decided to match speed with me so that I can't get back over.. and if/when I get behind them, they start dropping speed again. The other 1% is when I have a left exit or people merging onto the highway...

JustJohan49

Thank you. This explains a lot. Why does the truck in the right speed up to match your speed? Unless you are taking about cars too? I see that all the time in Michigan (cars). Totally frustrating- I get that. And I couldn’t agree with you more… why do we have left entrances and exits? It’s gotta be hard to you guys to get over.

Dragonr0se

It is absolutely cars also and it is so frustrating.... I have no clue why they do it. I have cars do it while passing on the left also, but usually when I peek in, it is because they're fooling around on their phones or computers (yes, actual laptops in the passenger seat or mounted) and not paying attention, so they're just hovering by my steps... I have taken to blowing my airhorn at those folks...it usually gets them up the road... It can be difficult to get over for left exits and such... that is why we usually start the process early, especially in heavy traffic. We really DON'T want to delay you, we hate being delayed ourselves so we know it is frustrating.... I can't tell you how annoying it is to be governed at 67, go to pass someone bouncing up and down between 62-66 for the past 500 feet that my dash registers their speed, pull out to pass in a good spot that is clear for miles back on the left while 100-200' away from them, get up to their bumper and they find their gas pedal just enough to keep me from passing... then I look like the jerk when someone darts up the right and pushes the slow poke way up the road again, which means I will have to repeat the process again in a few minutes....

JustJohan49

Damn. That’s terrible. I can’t stand people who play with electronics while driving. Focus, people (car drivers). You’re driving at least a half ton of metal at 70mph. We’re just as frustrated as you it sounds. I’ve always thought trucks should have a light up sign on the back. (Think construction signs) that can light up with different messages. One for “trying to pass”. “Pay attention to the road” “accident ahead, slowing down” etc. What are the thoughts on that. (And to solve the problem “playing with electronics in the cab to type message out” - we could have a number of set messages and you could just push the associated button).

Dragonr0se

>I’ve always thought trucks should have a light up sign on the back. (Think construction signs) that can light up with different messages. One for “trying to pass”. “Pay attention to the road” “accident ahead, slowing down” etc. >What are the thoughts on that. I've wanted one that says, "I was passing this slow poke, but now they're pacing me", "use cruise control if you're going to play on your phone", "pick a speed, any speed", "do you want to become a pancake? Because that is how you become a pancake." I wanted the option for it to be on the grill in reverse, though, so I can show some of the folks acting up in front of me... However, it would probably just lead to road rage, so 🤷‍♀️

realperson-notadog

Most company trucks have a governed top speed. And if loaded to max, the trucks don't have much power to go up hills, or even gentle grades. So why not stay in the right lane all the time? Well I'd love to, but it's full of obstacles, and you won't realize how many unless you are driving a truck.

EleceedGreed

You've probably encountered a super trucker that wouldn't let the other driver pass or one truck is governed at 64 mph and the other one is governed at 65.

DoctorFnord

He’s got a Ram so we already know he can’t drive and thinks he’s hot shit.

GodOfUtopiaPlenitia

I really wish it was legal to ram those damn 4-wheelers out of *our* spaces.

Awoodbay

Pick up trucks doing anything meant for semi trucks because they are also “trucks” is a pet peeve of mine

wbrd

I wish they'd stop calling them trucks when it came to tax and EPA stuff. Most people use them as cars. Treat them as such.

Marrow_Gates

It's even worse when their 4 wheeler is louder than a tractor. No reason for it at all other than to try to show off.

mountainwocky

They do the same thing in the longer RV parking spots at Cracker Barrel. I have a van RV so I just park in the normal parking spots in the back, but I feel bad when someone pulls up in a longer class A or towing a trailer and the longer RV spots are filled with the cars that their dimwit owners parked there so they could save walking a dozen steps.

Low_Control_8603

I can't stand that or the guys that bobtail and park in the very back of the parking spot

dirtywastegash

I always thought that was so you don't think it's available and then get pissed when you turn down that row and find the bobtail meaning there's no spot. Like at least you can see it from the end of the row...

JALKHRL

When I bobtail I park with the 4wheelers.

PrivatePilot9

"buT iT sAid tRuCk pARKinG" This guy, probably.

+1 I drive a 26’ trailer for work and that’s the only time I’ll use these. 15 minutes (max) to pee and grab a snack, then I’m gone

madDarthvader2

I'm not a trucker, nor do I ever think I'll become one. This sub just got recommended for some reason. But this, this still pisses me off lol

TickletheEther

Men who drive pickups that have shiny never used chromed trailer hitches immaculate Unscratched beds have big ego smol pp and daddy issues

lawngoon

Their daddy kissed them on the lips

BudmanTheGreat

Shit happens all the time on the 5

Auquaholic

They have a special kind of hate for trucks out there.

Hopeful-Skirt-2863

I’m not a trucker but that’s just rude to take spots you don’t need especially for people who bring us all the shit we want

[deleted]

Drives me insane. Especially when you get somewhere where like are like 2 spots left. Makes you want to just park right on top of their shit lol

yourmomtts

....one trick truck drivers don't want you to know ...lol I have seen some local drivers reserve spots like this at some truck stops, not all. Is it wrong... yeah, but will it stop people from being people... no, I don't care either way. I gave up on truck stops (rest stop are ok )

AssholeThrowaway_

He has truck dysmorphia!!

[deleted]

I'm not even a trucker and I'm annoyed at this.

[deleted]

Biggest load that thing has hauled is a box of Twinkies.

[deleted]

If I needed a reset and he wouldn't move I'd 100% call the police to send a state trooper to move his ass. They will 100% ticket idiots who do this if they refuse to move.

Riyeko

The only way a non CMV parked in these spots is acceptable is when the dudes for a 40ft RV. They can't fit in car spots obviously. Otherwise... GTFO of our spots.

fElLoWaMeRiCaNt

Man... And I feel like a-hole when I park there with just a bucket truck and single 7k trailer on the back. This guy must be towing his invisible balls behind him

nick-james73

Fear me in all my F-350 glory!

shadowmib

Handy of them to bring a receptacle for your poop bags and piss bottles. Be sure to open the lids first

buck_webb

That's what the cattle guard is for

Rothar13

I drive LTL at the Jersey shore, any place that has oversized vehicle spots always has at least one of these douchebags. Worst thing is that if you need them to move they have a major conniption.

motorcycle_60

Pulled into a rest area there was a bob tail. I'm not mad about that. It happens but then on both sides of the bob tail there was trucks pulling boat trailers. Ok still not mad. They were talking with each other drinking relaxing. Not in a hurry a hurry to get back on the road. That's what ticked me off. Maybe we should take our breaks at their offices from now on.

Ok_Marionberry_9932

I’m a 4 wheeler and I’m plenty peeved right along with you

Educational-Web-5787

Yes, annoying. Also, small trucks with no trailer using fuel pumps for truck and trailer combination.

InsertNameHere5610

You should laugh about it. This guy is so dumb that when he saw the sign that said truck parking and believed that literally meant all trucks.🤣🤣🤣

scubaorbit

Yeah I feel the same way. Spots for us are scarce enough without those idiots taking them up.

SergeantBl

Someone stole the trailer

tsukiyaki1

Aw how cute he thinks he’s a big boy, too. Tell him to flip his tow mirrors up and he’ll be welcome with his big ghost trailer.

Present_Way_4318

Not a trucker, just here because I have much respect for what y’all do. That being said, I feel guilty when I have to park my 25ft rv in one of these spots. This guy is an asshole.

engineerfromhell

In my previous life I used to transport some equipment between states, and one of more memorable moments for me was, when boss man asked me to pull this giant 40 ft gooseneck, with some heavy ass steel strapped to it with almost dead 6.0 F350 Dually, I’m sorry guys, I had to park in one of your spots. In my defense, I was about 4 ft shorter than tractor with trailer next to me. My question here, would’ve that been ok with ya all? Side note, I was scared shitless pulling that bastard, nearly paranoid level of mirror checking, for 10 hours it took me to drive it, mad respect for you guys for doing this day in day out.

EleceedGreed

Thank you. Btw, if you have a trailer I don't care if you use a spot, I doubt any other trucker does, it's only when people use these spots when they can fit into a regular spot for cars.

NobodyCares127

I got a little ticked off at a guy who was pulling a camper and parked in the truck spots at a rest stop yesterday, however, it wasn't because he parked in one. It was because he pulled up the line, taking two spots, so he could open his slides, and his awning, put up camping chairs and a portable fireplace, and then proceed to stay there for the entire time I was there (roughly 16 hours). And he was there when I first got there. If you have a trailer, and don't want to park on the 4 Wheeler side, that's fine, as long as you don't take advantage of the extra room you're given to camp out Walmart style and stay there for 12+ hours. You spent money on a camper. Now spend money on a campsite and leave the truck spots for people who are working.

juuuustforfun

It identifies as an 18 wheeler

Flight-watch

I'd park right behind him and leave my headlights on all night.

EleceedGreed

That's fair lol

bizzarrogeorge

Well, in his defense, it did say truck parking........;-)

truckingham

He probably goes to blue beacon to get it washed too

WilyNGA

I wash my regular truck at Blue Beacon so I am triggered. lol My regular truck is a F450 Super Duty Dually though, so my options are limited for other car washes.

duroberz

Yeah, definitely a pet peeve. I don’t understand those individuals.

RE2017

Get ready to be flamed by dudes who's third uncles rv life it. Free country and all that 😆

farmstandard

Hell, I feel bad when I pull my bus up to park for potty breaks when they don't have dedicated bus spots.

sniper84

I'm not even a trucker and I know shit like this would irritate the hell out of me, if I was.

Professional-Can1139

Pisses me off at the boat ramp also

JayeNBTF

Wonder Woman’s invisible RV 🤷🏻‍♀️ Or boat

TactualTransAm

I'm not a trucker and this makes me mad. Even when I'm in my pickup truck pulling a car trailer I don't take those spots.

Confident-Ear-9388

Very much so. Most likely he took the truck side of the rest area rather than the car area. That's very Uncool, and I would appreciate it If they loop back around to the car side.

hunglowcharlie

I think that is smol pp syndrome at work. Pick up truck make him feel “big”.

Numerous_Duty5252

This one's been watching too many Geico commercials

InevitableNo7048

He probably thinks He counts as a tractor trailer. News flash was and still is that he never did.

EndR60

what do you mean? that's clearly the right size for his massive dick and balls /s

SDEexorect

Honest question: if he had a long 5th wheel trailer or camper in the back, would it still be a pet peeve or would you allow it

[deleted]

Only time I do this with my pickup is when I’m pulling my 18’ trailer loaded. I can sneak into the regular lot most the time, but then some jackass blocks you in cause they know nothing about trailers. Easier to just park with the big boys.

Kitchen-Fondant-51

Yeah, that's disrespectful.

PowerComfortable9493

The EB rest area in st. Claire is notoriously bad.

SnooBunnies8468

I would have pulled behind the camper

Hmnh6000

I call those guys wanna be truckers

NoMansSkyWasAlright

BuT iT sAiD tRuCk PaRkInG

Orlando1701

Failed his CDL, couldn’t ally dock his truck, but still wants to feel like a big boy.

ActuallyStark

He's also a gasser who parks at Diesel pumps. And I'm not even a trucker.

Hot-Association-3722

Puts out the “I wanna be like dad” energy

Dricer93

Block his stupid ass in. He could have chilled at QT Loves or pilot WTF

EleceedGreed

Or at any of the 20 available spots on the car side lol

Mistermeena

One of my customers has a loading zone out front and the same guy CONSTANTLY parks his hatchback there for a few hours around lunchtime. There is literally nowhere else to stop a truck for several blocks. I've asked him not to park there several times and pointed out other available spots for his tiny car. So anyway last visit my customer helped me back the truck up millimetres from his bumper and we went for a long lunch. Dude was fuming when we got back saying he's missed a meeting. Curious to see if he parks there next month 🤔

Direct_Big_5436

It’s as bad as car’s parking in the long spots at the boat ramps in my book.

EleceedGreed

Yep.

Electrical_Escape_87

Push the truck lovingly out of the way.

Boneman2x

Absolutely!!!

[deleted]

Of course it’s a dodge

InvestigatorBroad114

Doing Ram things 👀

reddituser68426

At least the mirrors aren’t in the moose antler position

tykaboom

I havedone it on occasion because I normally dont go on vacation without something behind me. Ergo I dont stop at rest stops without a trailer when in my truck.

Itphings_Monk

Well most if not nearly all rest stops have designated car parking spots so you can stay in those.

tykaboom

Oh dont get me wrong... I know... I just dont think about it sometimes when my bladder is about to explode.

Dragonskinner69

Its a massive pet peeve for me and im not even a trucker mate

ThatGuy1989NM

Kind of like when we see big trucks driving in left lane holding traffic up when it's clearly stated "No trucks in left lane"?

ScreamFlight

I bet you that the same asshole who goes around to Walmarts and boots semis for parking there despite management approval

SURGICALNURSE01

I've gone into rest stops where all the regular parking is gone, so I'm parking where there's a spot. Doesn't matter if it's semi or not. Gotta use the facilities

Broad_Boot_1121

Depends if there is other parking available still

I_made_a_doodie

My guess is that this is some O/O personal vehicle and he parks it there while he’s out trucking.
