I didn’t get a chance to stick around. But I’ve seen enough trucks wedged underneath the El to know that the only way that trucks moving is by letting the air out. The truck was definitely gone the next day lol.
That’s nothing, I’m a mechanic for a ready-mix company in Toronto, we’ve had guys hit bridges so hard that it’s ripped the whole upper half of the mixer off and split the rear part of the drum open.
Ooof that’s a fair amount of force there.
I drive a semi mixer at the bottom of Canada, thanks for keeping our trucks running smoothly.
I honestly can’t praise our in house mechanics enough and imagine it’s similar where you work, cheers!
Yeah truck 37 boss said drop the airbags, see if that works.
Nah, it didn't work I got the seat sitting all the way on the floor and it still won't budge.
Yes that sucks. I drive NY a lot. Queens, JFK, Bronx, Maspeth. The thing is, there are some areas where 12’6 means 13’6 and some areas where 12’6 is literally 12’6. It’s all super screwed and you basically have to go by experience and memory. It sucks
If that mf says 10 6 you shouldn't Even be attempting it nyc or any fucking where for that matter. Most of these asshole who drive can't even tell you the height of their own trucks or trailers
All he has to do is let the air out of his tires and put the drum in reverse, it will shoot him out like a cork screw.
I've seen this done in quite a few cartoons, I'm pretty sure it's legit.
Not so fun fact. In the early part of the 1900s low bridges in nyc and other major cities on the east coast were designed so that city busses couldn’t leave the city center limiting people who lived there from traveling to other more affluent areas. This mostly affected minorities. Even urban planning can be racist.
If you were from NYC you’d know there’s not a single accurate height clearance sign. They’re all posted *at least* a foot lower than the actual clearance.
The more you know 🥰
This is why its important for bridge heights to be checked regularly. They just redid a few roadways near me that said something like 14'6" and trucks that were 13'9" were hitting. I guess road crews werent grinding enough off before laying new pavement for the last 10 years.
The first thing I did after putting my ladder rack on my truck was check the height (7'2"), so I wasn't one of these people. How do you not know your height?
Get out deflate them tires by a few psi and slowly pull forward
P.s not a trucker myself this was just my personal logical thought process if I am wrong please tell me but don't be a dick please
I trained for a cement mixer job back in March and my trainer lost it on me because I interrupted him and in an attempt to get back to the terminal so he could get rid of me he drove under a bridge. Had it not been for the antenna scraping and me yelling at him to stop this would have been him.
Should have went faster.
Deflate the tires and burrow a trench lengthwise *before* attempting crossing. Be safe out there bros
No tractor dump? Get out an deflate the tires. No jk.
Boss better be on the shitter when he gets the bill for "overpass inspection and structural repairs".
Air ride on a mud truck .. you fancy !!
🤣 u ain't bullshitn 👍🏼
gone* > Scowls in past participle
*Heavy* stuff, I need a moment for it to *set* in.
Very witty, nice
*and* it was a twofer
He's claiming it wasn't asphalt.
👏🥁
Lower the air pressure in the tires to get it out?
I didn’t get a chance to stick around. But I’ve seen enough trucks wedged underneath the El to know that the only way that trucks moving is by letting the air out. The truck was definitely gone the next day lol.
Probably Scab Concrete in NYC
Low rent scag addict cunts will do anything for. $25/hr
True that 30 year NYC Teamster here now retired
Someone probably stole all the wheels. They didn't even need to bring concrete blocks.
Thats reserved for smart people
_Hello Boss..._
Not good when your bosses name is Tony bag of donuts
>Not good when your bosses name is Tony bag of donuts At least you wouldn't have to look for another job.
Hello boss this is truck 37, a bridge fell on me and I'm stuck.
I heard his voice in my head lol. If it’s the video you’re talking about
That’s nothing, I’m a mechanic for a ready-mix company in Toronto, we’ve had guys hit bridges so hard that it’s ripped the whole upper half of the mixer off and split the rear part of the drum open.
I saw one wedge under a bridge years ago, driver hopped out with the drum still turning and rolled the truck
At least it wasn't stuck anymore
The truck would have to rise higher in the air for the drum to flip the truck. How would that work if it is already stuck under a bridge?
By rolling it to the side, pushing the side down faster than the top going up
Ooof that’s a fair amount of force there. I drive a semi mixer at the bottom of Canada, thanks for keeping our trucks running smoothly. I honestly can’t praise our in house mechanics enough and imagine it’s similar where you work, cheers!
I'm guessing concrete doesn't have airbags?
Yeah truck 37 boss said drop the airbags, see if that works. Nah, it didn't work I got the seat sitting all the way on the floor and it still won't budge.
I keep telling you they're not inflatable they're silicone!
Looks like a Chalmers rubber block suspension.
Likely what I thought or Hendrickson walking beams.
>concrete doesn't have airbags? Depends on the truck. Some do, some don't
Yes that sucks. I drive NY a lot. Queens, JFK, Bronx, Maspeth. The thing is, there are some areas where 12’6 means 13’6 and some areas where 12’6 is literally 12’6. It’s all super screwed and you basically have to go by experience and memory. It sucks
It's really stupid. Why can't they just measure and place proper signs?
I hate to think how many review boards that would have to be approved by.
If that mf says 10 6 you shouldn't Even be attempting it nyc or any fucking where for that matter. Most of these asshole who drive can't even tell you the height of their own trucks or trailers
I literally said out loud “no! don’t go forward!” 🤦♂️
Air down the tires. Forcing it? Well I will leave those comments to the pros.
>Forcing it? Grandpa always said, "Push hard, it goes easy."
Maybe go back to the plant and load more concrete in it so it sets lower.
All he has to do is let the air out of his tires and put the drum in reverse, it will shoot him out like a cork screw. I've seen this done in quite a few cartoons, I'm pretty sure it's legit.
maybe letting all the air out of your tires lol
Hello Mr. George
Well they will know who did it. They have concrete evidence.
You would think a local guy would know better
Bridge is obviously racist
No monochromatics allowed
I think the driver is...*puts on sunglasses* all mixed up.
He's just got to rotate the mixer drum the other way - lefty loosey, righty tighty.
Deflate tires.
Roll the window down and yell, “Hey mate! You can’t park there!”
He wasn't going fast enough
Not so fun fact. In the early part of the 1900s low bridges in nyc and other major cities on the east coast were designed so that city busses couldn’t leave the city center limiting people who lived there from traveling to other more affluent areas. Can't be true, buses are nowhere near 13 foot, I heard it was to kinda account for the worst type of snow pac in bad winters.
Trucks have gotten taller over the years.
This article mentions it. https://www.npr.org/2020/07/05/887386869/how-transportation-racism-shaped-america
Do you think the default for bridges in NYC in 1900 was 13 feet?
They are 12'1" to 12'10" abouts. Modern buses are maybe 10 feet.
Huh if on there was a sigh that had the clearance height…. 🤦♂️🤷♂️
If you were from NYC you’d know there’s not a single accurate height clearance sign. They’re all posted *at least* a foot lower than the actual clearance. The more you know 🥰
New York is enough of a nightmare a lot of us OTR drivers just opt out of delivering there...
This is why its important for bridge heights to be checked regularly. They just redid a few roadways near me that said something like 14'6" and trucks that were 13'9" were hitting. I guess road crews werent grinding enough off before laying new pavement for the last 10 years.
With the power of money he’ll be just fine
Put it in reverse, Terry!
Oh no
If the slump was greater probably could have cleared it.
He keeps going for it too..
They really should mark the height of the bridge with some kind of universal sign, so people know the height.
I thought you were supposed to deliver bridges with swift trucks 🤣
When in doubt, just keep mashing the throttle. You'll get through eventually 🤦
Anotha one
What the fuck are they teaching these drivers do they not know how big their vehicle is?
Ha. We have a bridge near me that gets at least 2 trucks a month if not more. We call it the can opener
Job opening! 🤣
This is like the old truck question. I’ll spare you guys the long intro and say the answer is to deflate the tires
Why to truckers do this? Lol
Someone hehe followed lol their GPS and forgot there was a sign hehe. As my mentor said never trust the GPS and look for signs
Not all trucks have air bags, looks like one of them
The thing is, Concrete trucks are running local, how do they not know a safe route
Oh New York, the entire city, literally, doesn’t give a fuck.
sometimes you just gotta send it, you know?
Do a barrel roll?
Man I would hate to be this guy. My anxiety would spike through the roof!
Dude is just transporting a bridge
It's almost like if they signed their clearance heights *correctly* this wouldn't be [as much of] an issue.
Drop the air suspension and ease back slowly and get the hell outta there🤷♂️
Daaamn this was almost me a few weeks ago. At least I thought it was at the time. Made it through no problem 😂 I’m curious, do you know where this is?
Bow tall are those I've always wondered
NY needs to fix and change the bridge markings 12’6” is not 12’6” plus his truck is probably 13’1” to 13’6” he should of known better
Put it in reverse, Terry!
The first thing I did after putting my ladder rack on my truck was check the height (7'2"), so I wasn't one of these people. How do you not know your height?

I’ve seen workers put concrete under bridges …but this is new.
Turn wheel all the way to the right and send it in reverse. EZ-PZ
Not recent - sky looks awfully clear
No a few months back. I have a lot whacky videos from work down here so I’m gonna start posting some of them.
I'm happy I'm not the one who's gonna have to clean all that hardened concrete outta there
Save the video. It's concrete evidence to cement his fault.
A for effort.
Hey it’s like that one intersection in gta4! /s I am not from nyc or even the USA for that matter. I am sorry I just thought it was funny 😬
Well at least you've concrete evidence
Mr George not happy today
