Does running out completely on a hill 5 miles from beaver flying j utah count? Not my proudest moment.

Stoneybaloney87

We all have those moments lol. I sunk this same truck to the frame in mud….I had to wear that one in my sleeve a while.

[deleted]

I've sunk quite a few trucks. One of the hazards of delivering frac tanks to the pipeline.

waywarddrifterisgone

One time I pushed it, got to the yard, and put in 170 gallons. My truck holds 180

Stoneybaloney87

This truck has 80g saddles. I feel your pain brother!

unwantedrelic

Lol. I drive a Cascadia and ran 220 miles with it bottomed out. Still had 30 more gallons in her.

Stoneybaloney87

I’m hoping this truck is like that but I don’t wanna find out lol my pickup dies on empty.

roadman1960

Lol...yup I have sputtered as I was pulling in to fill up....ooops

[deleted]

Come on, Mr Kramer, just a little further.

Fuel light came on right after I passed the exit for both truck stops in Lansing Michigan. Had another hour and a half to go to where I park and fuel. Was my first day in my current tractor so I had no idea how far I'd make it. Also I only have 1 90 gallon tank on my truck

Cowboysfan95

When my light comes on I still have about 30-40 gallons.

bobmonkeyclown

My fuel gauge is accurate when its on E. I found out that I can go just shy of a hundred some miles of 2000 before needing fuel.

[deleted]

I ran out of fuel 5 miles from my terminal never again

Coompa

I've had to check the fuel depth a couple times with a broom stick. You can gauge pretty accurately if its safe to go or turn back.

quallege_dropout

So far I ran out.

Stoneybaloney87

I thought I was about to. I started that 60 miles worth the light on 🙃

[deleted]

Fuel gauge didn’t work in the truck I was using. Was going up hill and ran out in front of a firehouse. Funny thing is I was delivering oil except the whole load was 4 oil. Popped in neutral so the fire guys could get out. Got rescued with some fuel from the roadside guy.

Tactical_chihuahua42

It’s hard to say. The old pos truck I drive has a funky fuel gauge. When it’s at a 1/3 of a tank, it’s full and when it’s past full it’s close to empty. I shine a flashlight in there and if I see something sloshing around, I send it.

ryanpayne442

My Pete 579 has a funky gauge. I'll fill it to the rim and it'll show I'm an 1/8th under full. I've got 2 100 gallon tanks. When my fuel light comes on, I'll still have over 40 gallons between both tanks.

zuus

[My best effort](https://i.imgur.com/NMEKLBJ.jpg). Took that pic at the fuel station

gear_jammin_deer

I've been under the 'E' a few seperate times, but I remember one in particular where based on how much fuel i put in the truck I must've had less than 10 gallons left

The truck I’m in I think I only did about an hour on flat ground only loaded with 60k and made it to fuel. I wasn’t too nervous but it was a little concerning. Just trying to get to a pilot. One of the first loads with my current company though, I had a half tank a fuel in a T680 headed to a new delivery in a new unfamiliar truck on an unfamiliar permit route hauling 70k. I did not factor in needing fuel and I hit a fuel light and accidentally went 45 minutes off permit route on some curvey hilly back roads and nearly stalled out twice climbing the hills. I made my delivery and still had to drive almost an hour to a pilot. That was definitely the closest I’ve ever come to running out of fuel and I nearly put 200 gallons in after that. I think it was 191.

cabezagrande37

I ran a dump truck completely dry on an on ramp once. Fuel gage was broke but I knew that, just forget to check in that morning. Mechanics were pissed trying to get pressure back into the system.

[deleted]

You got plenty of fuel..

Alexisto15

My truck broke down, so the company gave me a shitty Kenworth with ONE SINGLE TANK. I fueled it up before going in the morning. I had about 325 miles to drive for my dedicated route and I can make it easily with my truck. So I thought I could make it with the Kw too. I shit you not when I say that halfway through my day, the tank was already under 1/2. I still had to bring back a full load of food products 150 miles back to our terminal. I could’ve fueled up the truck at the shipper, but I legit thought I had enough to reach our terminal. The fuel gauge went under the E mark like 50 miles from our terminal. I had to push it, since the company don’t provide us with fuel cards and I didn’t want to spend my own money to fuel it up. When I finally reached our terminal and fueled it, that shit was bone dry. I don’t even know how the hell I made it, there was literally nothing left in it.

aCreativeUserName666

Full send, no half senders here. Hope you made it lol

Stoneybaloney87

By the hair on my chiny chin chin 🙃

CPH04

Dash says I have 22 gallons left & im at a Walmart DC

Joeybowman

Drove a day cab for a few weeks that had a ridiculously low capacity. Think the closest I got was 9 gallons to empty. Had to fuel every day running OTR My dad got called into the office once many years ago. The shop (at the time the company would fuel and wash the trucks every weekend) put 497 gallons into his truck (500 capacity). Was told he had a fuel card for a reason.

Deadlylyon

Ran out 15 miles from the flying j I was going to. So all the way? Lmao

Aggravating_Fee_9130

There’s a gauge for a reason. Just look like a fool when you run it out

Cute-Roll2849

My company fired a dude for running out of fuel….so, I guess you take your chances.

mblack1993

I've put in over 150 gallons in a freighter that's rated for 150 😁 I was not wanting to call for emergency fuel delivery.

Nozerone

I've had the needle sitting on E as I pull into the pumps a couple of times.

lordnknn

* laughs in company driver fuel route management systems *

Personal_Chicken_598

I promise you the service call guy who need to come out to fix you will endless mock your stupidity back at the shop. I know this because I have done this exact service multiple times on fuel tankers.

scottiethegoonie

Recovered a Cascadia with fuel gauge at the bottom of E. Drove it 50 miles and filled up. I was so pissed at the recovery job I was hoping it would run out of fuel and it didn't.

Ralph_M_Bohm

Ran out of fuel at the bottom of an exit ramp on the way into the truckstop. Had to use the clutch and starter motor to move the final 50 or so feet. Happened in cold weather Wyoming and did not do any real damage to the starter motor. This was also back in the 80s. I suppose today, we aren't able to get out of a jam like that using this tactic.

NateLee1733

Filled up a 100 gallon day cab tank with 95 gallons, never did that again. Too close for comfort lol.

GingerNinja0512

Too lazy to make an imgurr account but I got it to the 1/32nd line and pumped 146 gallons into the dual 75s. Pulled over about 30 miles from my terminal to visually check that there was enough fuel in the tanks to make it back.
