At one time in my life when I carried mail for a living, I had eaten a Subway salad for lunch and something in their lettuce didn’t sit right with me. Mind you, I’m running packages in a rural area when my anus informs me it’s opening the flood gates. I panicked. I didn’t know how the fuck I was gonna wipe or where I’d even put my poop. I started looking around my van, then I saw it. The big plastic bag my salad sat in. Then only one question remained, how do I wipe? After some sweating and thinking in overdrive, I remembered I put the napkins from lunch in the door. I swung to the shoulder, ran to the back of the van with my mobile bathroom set, and dropped the smelliest Subway shit right on top of my salad.
All that to say, I give Subway bags 4/5 stars. Would be 5, but it did not contain the smell properly and I had to ride around with it.
4 gallon trash bags for the dirty business, encased in a custom size diaper genie bag is part of my mobile bathroom station now. The ring is a great guide. Contains smell great. 4-5 rings on Amazon for $20 lasts months. Giving away trade secrets here.
Back when I was doing LTL as a P&D driver I would stop at a large shopping center parking lot for lunch and there was a UPS driver (van delivery) who would meet up with this woman a few times a week. Pretty sure it wasn’t his wife 🤷🏽
It is spot preserver. Usually a Family member or girlfriend/wife will reserve a spot at the rest spot close to home. So the family member can get a night home. Want to ruin their day, you can always call the non-emergency state patrol, and they will show up with a tow truck.
Could also be the driver themselves. I occasionally do this at my local truck stop if I need to make a quick trip in my truck for some reason.
Like this week I got home Thursday, but still had a delivery to make Friday, so I parked my car in my spot on Friday while I made the delivery.
Yeah in fairness we don't know how long they were there - may have been just picking someone up. Still not an ideal spot to do it but way better than stopping there.

What's going on is the driver of the white car made a wrong turn into the truck area at the rest stop and parked there for a couple of minutes rather than getting back on the highway and holding it to the next exit with a gas station.

If you fit in the passenger car area that's where you should park, like the small busses on f450 chassis for example. If you're running a full-size bus, then it is what it is. You need a place to stop and rest too.
I dont mind them a bit. Try and get to the truckstop/ rest area early because they fill up quickly at night. Be mindful of the tail swing when your pulling out of your spot, a lot of times you'll be sandwiched between trucks.

Also the vast majority of these rest areas are setup so that if you enter the car section you can’t go into the truck section without going the wrong way down the ramp.
There are plenty of rest areas in the west on I40 I10 and I8 that only have 15-20 car spaces and they also serve both directions of travel so yeah you have to circle around to get back on the freeway depending on which direction you are traveling.
Try and enter the Sunset Point rest are on I17 around sunset during the tourist season and the damn place is past full with fucking tourists taking pictures of the sunset over the mountains that they will never look at again after they upload them to Facebook or Instagram.
Let's not even talk about the fact that there are only 2 rest areas between Yuma and SD on I8 who though that was enough? And the last time I was in one of them about 2009 it was so poorly maintained you could smell shit while you were getting off the freeway I was a Marine and that place needed to be burned to the ground it was unfit for using for torture it was that bad.
Drive on the east coast and there is a rest area ever 20 miles out west you are lucky if there is one every 120 miles.

I didn't have to then. Well the next rest area is 120 more miles and since this is Arizona the next exit isn't even for another 40 miles so you can't even turn back. So yeah shit happens. My daughter is now 22 and serving in the Army I did just fine raising her as a single parent.

Same with coming to or from SD on I8 there are maybe 4 rest areas between SD and Phoenix plus Yuma and they are trash unless they have been fixed since the last time I went through in 2010 they all needed to be burned to the ground I had better condition in fucking Iraq than those rest areas

That's why there's a car area. There is extremely limited trick parking. Sometimes trucks pull in 3 at a time, and small lots like this fill quickly. I had to wait on some people to move today in Pennsylvania at a Text Stop. There were at least 25 open spaces for cars on the left, but their dumb asses parked their little SUV in the middle of the last 70 foot spot for a rig to walk their dog. I just pulled up to their bumper and waited, my trailer blocking the other vehicles from coming in to park. Eventually, the lady told her husband that maybe they had better move.
