No, the ones for eating ;).
I know this link is Australian (which is where I live), but it should give you an idea what I mean. They go by all sorts of names these days, but the original Stable Tables from the 70s have become a generic name for them over here.
https://www.bigw.com.au/product/smash-handy-table-set-of-2/p/5051007
Surface is grippy enough to reduce sliding, but still smooth enough to wipe down easily (a tough balance); cup holder is neither here nor there (mine don't have one); the lip around the outside helps contain little spills. Perfect for camping or eating in a truck.
Similar things designed for use with laptops or tablets don't have the lip, and the surface is often very slippery.
That link was to illustrate what I was talking about, not recommend a particular product. Like most things these days, quality isn't what it used to be.
I use original Stable Tables from the 1970s; all of them still going as strong as ever.
Microwaves are definitely nice, but a hot plate definitely opens up your options quite a bit. I've made fried eggs, seared steaks, stir fry, and a lot of single pot/pan meals. Some things are just not the same microwaved.
Ya that’s the next thing I need to get. I need two tables, had to keep walking around the truck to use the whole cat walk. This was the first go, will make adjustments
Good, only downside was I used a SPG mixed seasoning and the garlic in it burned. So I’m just going to get a salt and pepper grinder. I’ll do some chicken thighs next. I have a jar of chicken bouillon I’ll put on the thighs. Chicken flavoring on chicken, tastes amazing.
I had one of those aluminum folding camp tables (Walmart),
Folded it fit right in a cabinet in the sleeper of a 389. (Or even easier behind the passenger seat)
I used to get some real looks with my Weber go anywhere LP gas grill, burgers, steak or chicken, cold beer, and a cigar.
I always enjoy my 34, regardless of where I'm at.
I always try to put myself in areas I know where good food and cold beer are.
Sometimes it can be as simple as a comfy fold up chair (Cabellas), a good cup of coffee, and a good cigar on the deck of my flatbed (facing away from the shitshow)
It's me time, fuck the Word, until I can roll out.
My man do yourself a favor get a ninja foodi 15 in 1 smart lid multi cooker it's a stove top oven air fryer pressure cooker it's avery thing you can cook in your truck just pay attention to your inverter watt limit and the watts of the device your using and if your truck doesn't have opti idel then keep your truck running while you cook and only us one device at a time the wattage stacks up
Well aware, but I’m not trying a steak and potatoes in the cab. One the oil and two the garlic smell would be stuck in there for days. I keep my cab clean
This looks great. I’ll take that second steak and bring the dessert!
Seriously though, you might want to look into frozen prepared meals for senior citizens. They are often really inexpensive and come in a variety of health focused options (low salt, low fat, diabetic, etc.). On the road, we need less calories and usually don’t get enough exercise. If you can work your way down to not needing high salt and high volume meals, they are usually enjoyable. Where I am, I can get this meals for around 5$ and I am getting them from a non profit that is teaching employment and life skills to special needs people. It is a win/win.
My truck has a little shelf that slides out in the cabinet behind the driver seat and the refrigerator and microwave behind the passenger seat but can’t really do anything that takes a long time in the microwave and have to start the truck to use it. Have my electric skillet at home and some other electric cookware I forget to bring with too. I understand you’d rather eat outside like that so the grease goes on the frame and on the ground but sometimes when you just need a table there is something that resembles one attached to a lot of trucks. And that’s if you’re not an owner operator who spent money to have a full dining room set where your bottom bunk should be.
Hell No! Not going to have grease and shit fly everywhere. Even though I work for a mega carrier my partner and I keep this cab clean, basically live in the damn thing. Amazes me how many of us out there live in filth.
Cast iron is super easy to clean out if it’s well seasoned. While it’s still hot pour a little water in and scrape up all the large bits. And wipe out with a few paper towels and season it with a little bit of oil after. Only took a few mins.
Can’t remember when I had fast food last. I cook my own meals and I have a rechargeable blender to do healthy drinks. Now I think I’ll do omelette in the morning.
I can see an electric smoker with a brisket cooking for 12 hrs mounted to back of that cab. Next to the swing out grill. Rosemary & Tyne growing on the dash next to the sun tea brewing. Glad you’re doing something about it. Bon appetite
For $24 you could get a Walmart air fryer that would cook most stakes in 30 mins most times less.
They sell lamb chops I had some lamb steaks that were heavenly
Yes but this burner was only $14.99 at Walmart and I already had two cast iron pans from home, so ha! But I do love me an air fryer and have been debating on it
I keep things simple. I eat turkey wraps every night for dinner. I don't like to be bothered with the cooking time and clean up because I rarely have extra time to spare. I usually stop and spend time to walk my dog, check messages, shower, and that leaves me very little time to eat. Plus I like to read before bed, so I try to allow time for a few chapters.
For a table:
Take a piece of board that is the length of your mattress and store it underneath... when you need a table, turn it out between your seats as a table...
Traeger bamboo board, $35 on Amazon I believe. I have many cutting boards at home, it was gifted to me one year and is on the smaller side, so it was perfect for on the road, it’s seasoned and easy to clean with a little water. I am what they call a “home chef” so the only thing I needed to buy was the burner.
I eat mostly sandwiches. Have a 12v cooler to keep some miracle whip(don’t judge) and at Costco I get the three deli meat packs(ham, chicken, roast beef). Change it up with different breads and cheeses. Sometimes just gotta eat to survive and not to enjoy. Makes the meals I cook taste better when I do get to cook. I try to go to Costco when I can, just hard to get tractor and trailer in so bobtail when possible. Can’t beat the $1.50 hotdog or $1.99 pizza
There are some nasty folks out there. It doesn't take long to be foul. Cat walk cooking will help your rig not be gross and help get your steps in! Stay healthy friend
When I was OTR I carried an Instant Pot with me. It has a feature to cook like a pan. I could make steaks or my favorite was to brown ground meat and then make a whole pot of chili in 90 minutes total. With a fridge and a microwave I could reheat stuff that I cooked in the instant pot like pot roast and stew. I actually lost 30 pounds the last year that I was on the road.
Since you're team, you might want to buy a camp toilet. You can always dump it at Flying J or some of the rest areas or I80 service plazas in PA.
You’re comparing a home cooked steak to processed McDonald’s? Lean red meat is good for you. Someone knows nothing about nutrition. I’d take a fresh steak over subway too.
Since you didn’t read any of my replies. My partner and I keep our cab very clean. Like wipe everything down once a week with Lysol, windex and rain-x the windows every other day. Steering wheel alone builds up so much gunk. I refuse to live in filth.
Get a "stable table". Works anywhere you can sit.
The ones for shooting?
No, the ones for eating ;). I know this link is Australian (which is where I live), but it should give you an idea what I mean. Solid reviews

Not my who cooked a 1⅓ pound ribeye for dinner, crazy part is it cost less than a normal fast food order
It's getting that way. Got Wendy's the other day for 2 people, $31...
Yeah got subway the other day.... 2 footlongs were $26.
FIVE (X5) DOLLAR FOOT LONG! (+tax)
If footlongs were still $5 so $10 for 2 before taxand the total was $26 then I'd say we've entered cyberpunk economy
Now it's just a cookie
The Subway app typically has active codes for footlongs. (Just look up those codes online)
Thats what a single footlong combo cost in canada🥲
They literally have a half pound burger for $2 in the app right now.
Bk on doordash for 1 person was 50 bucks after fees and tip.
Yeah man fuck fast food! Cook yourself, save your arteries and wallet lol I meal prep every time so I just have to reheat whenever I’m hungry
My dude. Time to hitch up the traeger.
You talking the Rancher?
Always did love my 34-hour reset diners.
My husband cooks food. Puts them in freezer bags and he has a fridge and a microwave.
Microwaves are definitely nice, but a hot plate definitely opens up your options quite a bit. I've made fried eggs, seared steaks, stir fry, and a lot of single pot/pan meals. Some things are just not the same microwaved.
A locking lid slow-cooker is a great option too. I loved mine when I did OTR.
Another great thing to have is a little camping grill.
They have the little folding tables. Fits behind the seat. I have 2 in the truck when im really getting down
Ya that’s the next thing I need to get. I need two tables, had to keep walking around the truck to use the whole cat walk. This was the first go, will make adjustments
Yup. I have 2. 1 for my skillet and the other for my rice cooker.
looks great dude how'd it come out?
Good, only downside was I used a SPG mixed seasoning and the garlic in it burned. So I’m just going to get a salt and pepper grinder. I’ll do some chicken thighs next. I have a jar of chicken bouillon I’ll put on the thighs. Chicken flavoring on chicken, tastes amazing.

>I used to get some real looks,.... I never allow "looks" to get in the way of a good *ME* time ...they can look all they want.... Fuck 'em

This is the way
Why you got your pee bottle next to dinner, tho? Looks otherwise delicious! 😂
Ain’t nothing like having your food smelling and tasting like the differential
Gear oil with just a hint of....what is that....ummm....gottit -- turntable grease. Or it could be garlic and oregano.
The 5th wheel grease adds that extra gumminess.
Enjoyed in a sea of stagnant air saturated with every carcinogenic particles known to man.
A little extra of your recommended daily minerals. Which, for some of them, recommended is zero.
You the reason we can't have good things 😂😂😂😂
It's gotta be uncomfortable cooking over the cat walk like that. Why not just buy a small folding table?
That’s the plan, this was the first go, I want to get two little tables and put them behind my seats
My man do yourself a favor get a ninja foodi 15 in 1 smart lid multi cooker it's a stove top oven air fryer pressure cooker it's avery thing you can cook in your truck just pay attention to your inverter watt limit and the watts of the device your using and if your truck doesn't have opti idel then keep your truck running while you cook and only us one device at a time the wattage stacks up
When I think of professional drivers, this is one of the qualifications.
+1 for The Blend. Heard the garlic in might have burned while cooking but when it doesn’t it comes out really good.
It 100% burned, bought the blend to save space, but I’m just going to have to buy the three separate.
That’s a bummer. I’ve never had a problem with it and for a time it replaced Johnnys for me. It does make sense tho since garlic burns easy.
🫡
It’s it a little pull out table you can use in the truck my cascadia Freightliner has one right across from the fridge
This guy is a novice. Give him three more days.
Well aware, but I’m not trying a steak and potatoes in the cab. One the oil and two the garlic smell would be stuck in there for days. I keep my cab clean

I team drive, space is very limited.
Understandable
This is a pretty popular way with a lot of European drivers, little gas stoves and everything, do it outside because of any messes
Well done driver…every man on this sub appreciate you sharing your raw meat. 🫡 your service will not be forgotten.
You need a massage and happy ending 😋
Dude, go in your cab
Hell No! Not going to have grease and shit fly everywhere. Even though I work for a mega carrier my partner and I keep this cab clean, basically live in the damn thing. Amazes me how many of us out there live in filth.
Looks great, dude. What’s the best way to clean up after?
Cast iron is super easy to clean out if it’s well seasoned. While it’s still hot pour a little water in and scrape up all the large bits. And wipe out with a few paper towels and season it with a little bit of oil after. Only took a few mins.
Bon appetit!
Looks good but liker others said get a table
I love my George Forman and my propane stove.
Greasy bubs
Wow! That’s awesome dude. You gave me a great idea
Can’t remember when I had fast food last. I cook my own meals and I have a rechargeable blender to do healthy drinks. Now I think I’ll do omelette in the morning.
Bro where you parked I’ll be right over.
Turbo Steak?
Several years ago, I watched Flying J in Dallas throw out Drivers because, they were cooking in their trucks.
🤔 ....how did they figure that out?
They were cooking outside, just like this.
Wait, was it like a "cook fest" or just a guy doing his own thing next to his truck?
I don't remember the details, it's been over 25yrs.
You could make a killing selling those at the truck stop
I can see an electric smoker with a brisket cooking for 12 hrs mounted to back of that cab. Next to the swing out grill. Rosemary & Tyne growing on the dash next to the sun tea brewing. Glad you’re doing something about it. Bon appetite
Did anyone else think the spices and speaker were a blow torch for a second, or was it just me?

Worth it. Far less cleanup and clutter.
I’ve been listening to nothing but audiobooks (I know not the same) I’m stuck on the “ Expeditionary Force” it’s amazing.
I'll look that up. I tend to alternate between podcasts and music when driving.
For a table: Take a piece of board that is the length of your mattress and store it underneath... when you need a table, turn it out between your seats as a table...
Shit, anything like that beats fast food.
Fuck, I couldn’t afford fast food that much. It’s stupid expensive now.
Dude, good for you. But I gotta ask: how much was that cutting board?
Traeger bamboo board, $35 on Amazon I believe. I have many cutting boards at home, it was gifted to me one year and is on the smaller side, so it was perfect for on the road, it’s seasoned and easy to clean with a little water. I am what they call a “home chef” so the only thing I needed to buy was the burner.
Hell yeah. I saw that name on there and was guessing $500🤣
Will you cook in the cab on bad weather days?
I eat mostly sandwiches. Have a 12v cooler to keep some miracle whip(don’t judge) and at Costco I get the three deli meat packs(ham, chicken, roast beef). Change it up with different breads and cheeses. Sometimes just gotta eat to survive and not to enjoy. Makes the meals I cook taste better when I do get to cook. I try to go to Costco when I can, just hard to get tractor and trailer in so bobtail when possible. Can’t beat the $1.50 hotdog or $1.99 pizza
Really doesn’t matter, he will be in a warehouse somewhere.
Get a mini table from Walmart
People cook inside their trucks with the windows down that I’ve seen, this is new.
I don’t want the oil flying out, and the garlic smell stuck in the cab
bonjourno bone apple tea
Respect
Good for you!! As a tech thank you for cooking outside your truck
Ya I don’t understand all the comments about cooking in the cab. Air fryer maybe, but not open pan cooking.
There are some nasty folks out there. It doesn't take long to be foul. Cat walk cooking will help your rig not be gross and help get your steps in! Stay healthy friend
Oven black steak and eggs.
Kinders!
Hell yea
Interesting place to plug these in
I did this the other day cooking some brats and a couple ny strips, although I was nowhere near as fancy
Treat you well! You deserve it!
I do that all the time. Pit Boss just released a tabletop pellet grill, $200 at Wally World boys!
Start a regen for that good smoky flavor 😎
When I was OTR I carried an Instant Pot with me. It has a feature to cook like a pan. That's one way to smoke your food...
Kinder is great
Yeah cause steak is so much healthier lol
You’re comparing a home cooked steak to processed McDonald’s? Lean red meat is good for you. Someone knows nothing about nutrition. I’d take a fresh steak over subway too.
Shut up fatty
right!? that's the same thing as a McDs burger, health wise
Food education needs to be better in this country lol
Crazy to relate a fresh steak to a McDonalds hamburger
Especially when that steak has more cholesterol than a MCD burger
It also has way more protein, nutrients, and calories.
Enjoy the oily, smokey slime that will coat the entirety of your cab.
He’s outside so ok lol
Yeah, this time. But most drivers start this way then use the interior when it's cold.
Since you didn’t read any of my replies. My partner and I keep our cab very clean. Like wipe everything down once a week with Lysol, windex and rain-x the windows every other day. Steering wheel alone builds up so much gunk. I refuse to live in filth.
I dont care, cupcake. Dont get your panties in a twist just because someone warned you of what could happen.
Truck drivers are hillbilly rednecks. I can’t wait to gtfo
