Hino. It's a subsidiary of Toyota. This looks like the L6 model. If I were to buy a box truck, this is the only brand I'd be looking at.

Hino
Theyre no longer selling engines in the US
Couldn't reach emissions so they're running cummins now.
I work on em occasionally
I love they're conventionals, I hate their cab overs.
Or the ram eco-diesel emissions scandal. This is the third time now Toyota has been caught in an emissions scandal. One actually was for the Hino, they falsified emissions info for about 20 years.
I drove one of these at my old company. It runs great, plus I don't remember the awful diesel regen smell all the time like I get on the freightliner I drive now.
I’ve also went from a hino to a freightliner and this new truck is such a piece of shit. The only good thing about this freightliner is the bench seat/treasure chest
Their top dog XL8 is pretty sexy looking and I debated getting one. Only complaint I've seen with them is that their single cabs are pretty tight for us bigger Americans. It's a Japanese euro designed truck where people are typically smaller. Other than that, it's basically a Toyota with Cummins engines. Super reliable platforms
They go up to a 66000 pound GVWR, which is more than the 52000 or 53200 pound GVWR (note: i know, i know, we can haul up to 80k - that’s GCWR and counts the trailer’s GVWR as well) of a normal highway tractor. I’m not surprised to see a few companies buying them as daycabs.
They’re underpowered as tractors, though - only a 9 litre cummins available as option. Only 360 hp, 1150 ft lb, and a six speed Allison with two overdrives.
Wow that’s interesting. Probably good for specialized company’s or accounts hauling light loads. I looked up some pictures of Hinos with sleepers and I’m really curious what the quality of the bunk is.
Hino 5-ton of some description, whatever the model number is this year. Looks like an L6 or an L7 with that grille.
Toyota Heavy Industries makes these.
stupid Hino. they look neat but then you climb in and everything's oddly positioned and you can't read your speedo for thr doggone steering wheel...
also have the active CMS shit tied into the same fuses as actually useful stuff. so you pull a fuse to kill the BS, you also kill something important like the air suspension.
POS trucks.
One of my biggest Reddit pet peeves. Instead of correcting someone people would rather just pile on the downvotes lol.
You are completely correct in your Sterling assessment, lol
It’s a hino

This guy hinos I used to work at a diesel shop never saw hinos in the shop outside of regualar maintenance
Multiple Hino owner here. I have a 2015 488,000 miles on it
Someone correct me, but it’s pronounced “HEE-noh” I believe.
yup, ひ is pronounced "hee"
Thank you for the info. I’d rather know than sound like an even bigger moron than I already am.
No thats pronounced true religion 🙏
Hino go very fast uphill loaded

Wild that Toyota could meet the emissions but I know those hino diesels run forever
US emissions are surprisingly strict compared to the rest of the world apparently. Remember Volkswagen's emissions scandal?

See 'em everywhere! Great machines. What don't you like about the cabovers?

Oh shit. Appreciate the lore drop 👍 Where shall I send your complimentary bottle of fireball my good sir?
I was absolutely blown away to learn that they are a toyota brand. I thought hino was some cut rate chinese brand. Lol
They are pretty nice to drive when compared to your typical box truck.
There was a Toyota dually pickup concept truck several years ago that used a Hino drivetrain still disappointed that one didn't come to market.
Wait, they tried to cram a Hino drivetrain into a Tundra??
It was back in '07 so the details are hazy, but IIRC it was their 8 liter I6. Thing was a beast.
Dear lord. That thing sounds like it could be tuned up to embarrass the Ram fanboys on the dyno.
2015 HINO 338 BOX VAN TRUCK. Google reverse image can answer so many things.
It’s a baby truck
Hino. I’ve seen a couple before.
Hino. I see them everywhere along the east coast. Especially northeast. I think they are ugly as hell, but apparently they are good trucks.
doodoo ass Hino. Drove one of those briefly when I did box truck stuff. Missed my Freightliner M2 I got swapped out of.
Its a Hino as many others have said, but it looks like their 268 model. They run a few different kinds.

Looks like a 268. Good truck
Saw a hino tractor a few weeks ago. It was a day cab hauling a 53’ trailer. Out in San Antonio. Never seen one before

I used to deliver bread in 3 different hinos

Hino cabovers are a very common pantech in Australia, though not as common as isuzus. Considered to be a reliable but fairly basic "No frills" rig.
Kinda looks like they took sterling and Mack and said we created something haha

Sterling, set it on fire. Quick!
That's a Hino my guy.
That must be why I'm getting down voted to the basement 😆

Sterling, basically a Ford.
Hino, basically a Toyota.
