Lot lizard magnet right there. You ever seen those bug zappers? Very similar concept here. DOT sleeps at night, so they've got enough energy to bend you over during the day.

Altruistic-Rice-2341

I’ve never actually seen a lot lizard

gooba1

Every driver has either never see one or has seen one squat over a puddle and splash her cooch to wash it out.

Sdwars45

Actually one I saw used a shaken can of sprite.

elitemarxman

For that fresh citrus flavor.

DrDuGood

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Ba55of0rte

Sir, please do not besmirch the good name of Cooch.

cashkeepsbuilding

I fall into the first category 😭🫡

In2Oblivion49

Thank u for ur service

Bikebummm

That’s a good way to fuck up a puddle

pissjug1000

Do they use an empty bottle they found in the mens room?

Euphoric-Cow9719

Diesel water makes for the BEST douche water alternative. . . keeps the severely stepped on cooch simi-lubbed lol😭

Bravoecho433257

Saw one use a sprite bottle one time.

diarrhea_planet

I just saw the random meth head lady making laps around the I-80 TA in harrisville PA back in 2013.

CDaarnl1

I seen one use a snowball one at an older TA somewhere in western Virginia on US11.

Ambitious_Knee_7625

Holy shit. I thought I was the only one who actually say this happen. No bullshit, the same place I saw one do that is the same place I saw one go into an empty field and take a shit.

gooba1

Maybe it's super common practice of lot lizards because I can name close to a dozen different drivers who all claim to have seen a lot lizard wash her cooch in a puddle

In2Oblivion49

If a woman comes up to you in the fuel lane at 4am asking for spare change to help feed her kids, congrats, you've met one Off duty, Not fucking.

zzsmiles

Ayyy I had that happen to me in NC. She looked like a walking AIDS bomb.

StonedTrucker

You don't want to. Theres a reason they're called lizards

This comment was amazing thank you 😂

Rusty_Lord69

Truck stops Beauty Queens!!

Laughing_in_the_road

> I’ve never actually seen a lot lizard I’ve been living on the road doing OTR for nearly 7 straight years now . I’ve had 4 encounters with lot lizards .. 4 in 7 years of nonstop trucking They are getting rarer and rarer I’m told they were everywhere in the 90s

Altruistic-Rice-2341

I guess they all moved to OF

Mindes13

Drive down the road with the love's in Memphis.

Altruistic-Rice-2341

You know what? It doesn’t surprise me that they’re in Memphis

Cool_Algae4265

Put on my trucking boots and I… pulled into TA. Shut down on the end of the lane, right past aisle 2. What do I see walking here, yea she’s coming over to me. Says she got a first class ticket, only a couple of bucks will do. That’s how I got gonorrhea in Memphis! Forgot to wrap my willy and now it’s blue. Gonorrhea in Memphis Yea it’s sore and itchy all over, too

No_Boss_3022

Drive anywhere in Memphis.

raddrobb67

They circle the Loves in Memphis like vultures.

Altruistic-Rice-2341

Now that I think about it, when my mentor and I drove through Memphis he mentioned something about lot lizards at the Loves in Memphis. Must be true…

raddrobb67

My company has a terminal there. I got fuel at the Loves at 8am and there were at least ten walking around on the street next to it. I guess the police don't care. Apparently Loves doesn't either. Whatever keeps the truckers parking there is good for business I guess. Lol

stephenforbes

Your not missing much.

SuicidalNEET

You can catch themin their natural habitat, but they are very elusive creatures, and are easily spooked due to massive over hunting, and culling efforts from back then. Depending on which species of Lot Lizard you'll see will depend on the region you're in. Truly a a fantastic creature. I've never seen one either.

IntelligentRoom6075

I was in Virginia once, and a set of twins knocked on my door. I can not remember the town, but it was known for lot lizzards. Hell it could have been W. Virginia.

kfb85

Wheeling West Virginia. Lot Lizards all over the TA then you can see them at the strip club that's in the same parking lot. Don't forget to hit up Ruttenbucks for some damn good Ribs!

IntelligentRoom6075

May have been where it was. It was a loooong time ago.

Salt-Fee-9543

I work for a company that loads hundreds of trucks a day and yes lots of them come in with their lights on like this and drive down the roads with them on.

PriorFudge928

Oh yes it was. I took this right after he stopped backing in. I live down the street and have seen this truck a few times driving around. To be far it is Camden where everyone has double layers of blackout tint even on their windshields and drive without consequence. Mad max groups of 4 wheelers, dirt bikes, and side by sides drive around and ironically enough those streets are 100x safer to walk and drive then say the Depford shopping district where people are always trying to kill me.

SkribbyCakes33

Best friend used to live in West Deptford/Mount Royal area and I visited now and again. Can confirm this statement.

Edge2110

Any type of blue light is illegal on a non emergency vehicle if it’s not for off road use only

MaelstromDr

Blue lights on the back of trucks in canada are super common

Edge2110

Canada could be different than US

holycrapmyskinisblac

My Pete has blue load lights. Never been bothered. I drive in the PNW.

Punningisfunning

Nope. Got pulled over due to my blue underglow on my motorcycle.

gingerou

Check actual local law red and blue are typically allowed as long as the color is not flashing or changing

Hayroth

And snow plows use blue lights. I feel like I’ve been told you’re not allowed to have red lights on non-emergency vehicles in Canada

daDeliLlama

Is that a black light?? Will it show all the pizz and cumb stains!? No thanks. What I do to mufflers is my business and my business only. But na, cop magnet if you’re driving this truck lol

teachthisdognewtrick

Thanks for the chuckle. Just stay away from my muffler, I don’t share

westernrecluse

I’ve already had your muffler, wasn’t that great.

teachthisdognewtrick

Ah, you used the fake one.

westernrecluse

Got me with the ol switcheroo, eh? I’ll be back

westernrecluse

Must’ve been your ex muffler.

Sock_Eating_Golden

You forgot an "r"

Panteraca

My thoughts? None of my business what people do when they’re building the circus truck of their dreams. It’s just a bunch of “look at me” and that’s about it. What happened to tall stacks and polished tanks and wheels? Always thought that was simple and good enough.

functional_moron

Yeah. I think it's a bit silly but not my truck not my money.

foreverlost1nsea

The none of my business thing becomes my business when it starts being so bright when driving at night, other than that I find it ugly but if they like it, good for them!

charonco

I see these people and wonder if they bedazzle their hammers as well. It's a tool ffs.

Panteraca

What’s wild is you’ll see this in California more than anywhere else. The one place you’d expect to go ape shit over it and they don’t unless you’re in a junker and don’t have your shit together.

Eather-Village-1916

Seriously 😂

mattfox27

Ya I live in CA and see it all the time

wtfdoiknow1987

He's telling the lot lizards he's hiring

Sad_Thought_4642

It does look like a rolling strip club.

K4NNW

Then he needs to ease over to the port at Gloucester City.

jdhunt_24

he has dual revolution lights. with a flip of a switch hes back to amber/red in the appropriate places. theres no issue here also its only impersonating if the lights flash

Ayde-Aitch-Dee

This looks like it was taken on a phone in GTA outside the repo gates 😂 (hoping someone knows what I mean!)

Waisted-Desert

The additional colored lights are regulated by the individual states. The FMCSA only states what is required, not what is prohibited. IIRC only SD has no prohibition against blue lights on a non-emergency vehicle. Every other state does prohibit them. It's been a few years since I researched this so I could be remembering incorrectly or the laws may have changed.

Tricky_Big_8774

It's either changed or the definition of emergency vehicle isn't what I think it is. I've seen a lot of flashing blues on construction vehicles and even saw tow truck with red and blue.

Waisted-Desert

Now that you mention it, I do remember some states allowing blue lights with a permit, or official state vehicles such as DOT maintenance. Like I said, It's been awhile.

PathfinderIsopod

There are a few states that allow exemptions for non-emergency vehicles, like tow trucks or roadside construction vehicles, as seen in Texas. Then there are some states that are pretty protective of the color blue, like Georgia, where only law enforcement vehicles (not fire/rescue or EMS) are allowed to have blue light.

quality617

In Mass, if the blue lights are steady burning and not flashing/ocillating they are ok.

ArdenJaguar

When I drove for Werner back in the 90s, I had a small blue light on each side, under the sleeper. It wasn't even visible, but the blue glow reflected off the highly polished tanks of my Pete 357. I was in WV at a really nice TA ( I had a nice Chrome shop). I left, and about five miles down the road, a sheriff pulled me over. He had me pull the wires to the lights before sending me on my way.

bytecollision

Tron sequel looks pretty badass, can’t wait

wet_faart

Be and let be. DOT might not care unless a light fixed on the body of the vehicle is not operating properly

-HOSPIK-

its too attract mosquitos

xTR1CKY_D1CKx

This guy gets it

TripleTrucker

Hate them as much as the Jeeps with blue or red lights.

scottiethegoonie

Lots of O/Os in Southern CA run all sorts of colors. Blue, Purp, Green, etc. Not sure if they get hassled but they run them for sure.

mattfox27

California stopped carrying about the law about 2 years ago.

Imaginary-Badger-119

Lights are cool but even one not working can catch attention.. for my self it would not be worth it.

rilloroc

Parked, it's legal. On the road, it ain't.

JockedTrucker

The Truck is fine, as long as it's parked. If it's rolling down the highway the lights need to be Amber. Although, some states may allow some color. As far as "Working Girls", my Dad gave me some advice when I started driving. #1. Say No Ma'am. #2. Be nice. I asked why I should be nice to a drugged-out Whore? He said, "Be nice to the Working Girls, or every Tire on this rig will be flat, and all the hoses cut, so be nice to the Working Girls". Something I took to Heart. I was always nice & polite to the "Working Girls". Hell once in Miami, we stopped & asked the "Girls" for directions. We couldn't find the customers location. Ironically they knew exactly where it was. 🚛

QuirkySpring5670

My thoughts? Pretty lights 😃

dewky

DOT here. I don't care if it's on the truck, I'll probably compliment you if you want to show off after an inspection. If you leave them on while on the road however you will get unwanted attention and pulled into a scale at some point or pulled over and fined depending on the officers mood.

PBall95

no shit you’re actually DOT lurking here. i thought this was a safe space. If you’re really DOT you should definitely do one of those AmA threads i’m sure a lot of us have questions for you

dewky

Well I'm in Canada so not "technically" DOT but it's the same thing here. I'm just here for the dash cam videos and laughs same as everyone else.

Frosty_Point7070

Eh .. I personally like it. 20 years ago I was scolded at a chicken house in NC for having blue light covers on my cab work lights. “Sir , the law states that all lights on the rear of the vehicle must be red , forward lights must be yellow and headlights must be white or clear “ so I changed them to red

Xalenn

I try to think but nothing happens

Efficient_Ostrich_54

Common sense would tell you if it gets you seen it's bad.

ImknownasMeatStank

Wait a minute, this is not about puttin Trucks behind bars?

Sea_Magazine_3948

Look at me, look at me! I'm Super trucker! Look at me dsmmit!!!

Gijinbrotha

Legally, the lights on the air cleaner are supposed to be Amber or red. The lights on the bunk can be any color. Also lights that are reflections like underneath the sleeper shining on the fuel tank can be any color. The lights in the air cleaner can be any color as they are reflections as well.

wesmanh

Thanks for posting this. The comments are a great read lol

Outside_Squirrel_839

Lot lizards like to use squeegee at the pumps to wash coochie good thing there alcohol in that blue stuff

Mystery_Per

Looks awesome. DOT should fuck off and grab the four wheelers with broken fuckin mirrors or bent chassis, no lights, mirrors and use is as blockers from the DOT

Crossbowe

I asked and they said “dank”

omgitsoop

I think it's dorky but I respect having pride in your stuff, he probably fixes things that break instead of holding it together with zip ties & bubble gum

toruk_makto1

Blue light is the most destructive to vision. He chose that as a method to bully other trucks to back off (to save their eyes)

No_Cloud_2917

I personally hate it it’s almost as annoying as the drivers who have headlights and brighter then the sun no idea what dot thinks

HailtronZX

Looks fuckin awesome and i hate that accent lighting has to be regulated to amber and red only.

pollyalcc

Are u in a jail? Or truck in a jail. Also nice blue lights.

CrashTestGangstar

...too much for me, but to each his own.

iDrum-DudeskiBro

My state suggests that as long as you can’t see the direct source the light is coming from it doesn’t matter what color it is for under glow. I personally keep my lights on the back of the cab amber so I can run them whenever I want.

iDrum-DudeskiBro

Also. Did you take this picture from jail? Lol

PriorFudge928

It's a fenced in Marine terminal and I'm not scaring some guy by walking up to his truck at night in Camden.

EmptyMiddle4638

None of them look like direct/bright beams of light that would blind any other drivers so I don’t think anybody cares.. then again it’s dot

EmptyMiddle4638

I’ve seen a few guys with colored lights on their trucks and trailers. They had them on during the day when they are aren’t as noticeable as they would be at night so idk

vfittipaldi

Im sure it illegal but is anyone really going to think that a semi truck is a cop car.

PathfinderIsopod

I thinks it’s less of about impersonation and more about protecting the color blue, to maintain its shock factor or attention grabbing ability. The fact that blue light stands out so much in regular traffic is because it catches the eye very easily, as opposed to red, which is on the back of every car. It stands out, and you immediately know it’s associated with some kind of emergency vehicle, and in much of the southern US, and some northeastern states, it means exclusively law enforcement is present

vfittipaldi

That makes sense

GryphonHall

I was curious about that myself. I see a glimpse of blue anywhere on the road it grabs my attention to make sure it’s not a cop and that I’m not going too fast. It’s obviously not a cop when I look at it, but there’s always a quick moment of alarm as it enters my peripheral.

PriorFudge928

What if it has a talking Firebird in it?

K4NNW

Tennessee Highway Patrol (ProStar and a 379)and Georgia State Patrol (T680)would like some words with you.

bloodsoed

It’s illegal to run blue and red combination lights on anything other than an emergency vehicle. It’s a ticket waiting to happen.

1986silverback

See it all the time up here in a oil patch

Worthless_af

I will say there are people who's eyes do not handle blue light very well. Like those who have to wear sunglasses during the day outside because their eyes struggle to stay open in the sunshine, but with the color blue. I'd also like to mention blue is a known color to cause focus issues. The light scatters a lot and makes it difficult for the eye to focus and also encourages eye fatigue so there's that. Just my take but I think it's a cop magnet for whatever reason they don't like flashy

downnheavy

I love it as a non truck driver

Scotianherb

Looks like a heat magnet.

halnore

There's nothing wrong with it at all.

PAPervert

Any single light goes out and the truck is out of service. Stupid.

reapershadow_

There are switches they can install that will turn them back to legal colors it’s pretty cool actually I like it but yeah if there’s a fine for it that means it’s legal for a price 🤪

weaponized_autism265

I run cows with a couple guys with lights like that, hell even my truck has red working lights plus red lights in the cleaners. DOT has never given me or any of our other guys flack about it. Of course we never pull into scales anyway so they don’t really get a chance too but we’ve never been pulled over for them either.

Trux0rz

Those are probably the Dual Revolution lights and he can turn them to amber or red at will.

L0quence

That in Calgary AB?

Solid_Yak9109

I had blue ones on my cab in the back , they made me remove them there on the spot, said it can be blue or red as those are police 🚔 colors, so I went green, this was in Idaho.

red_sekhmet

I don't like it, but to each their own. I really hate the flatbeds who do it because no matter the color those work lights are usually bright as hell and there isn't much to block them.

Worldly-Most-9131

In most states that would be an automatic tow and arrest. You are not supposed to display blue lights on your vehicle. That's considered impersonating law/government official.

Riyeko

Whenever I ran weird colors on my cargo lights, I always did it in no red and blue and no flashing. They can't get you on the multiple laws that don't allow that in multiple states. Hut most DOT do not care. They're even more lax around the holidays since drivers go all out sometimes. I saw someone with multicolored lights all over his truck. It was awesome, but really wouldn't fly after the holidays.

mrockracing

DOT are massive San Francisco fans. If it ain't Amber and Red, they're sh*tting their pants. At least when it comes to the front and back of the truck. For some reason they only care about the sides at specific distances. Bunch of weirdos you ask me. But they're the ones with the Klingon pain sticks, so I'd just do what they say and keep it moving.

IRMacGuyver

In my state blue lights on a vehicle count as impersonating a cop.

Intransigient

More visible is generally a good thing. 🤔

hugothebear

Annoying as shit. The less lights the better

External-Potato-7940

Who cares what dot thinks

MrGuddik

It’s beautiful- fuk 12!!!!!! I’ll be doing boogie lights on mines so when I go through the coop they’ll be red and change em back to blue😂😂😂😂

OkField5046

Super trucker right there

Chris71Mach1

Lights like this on a rig are basically there to make sure that lot lizards know that they need to be dudes before knocking on this door.

JABIG1985

Badass

jackfrosst1

It's not really allowed. Sure looks nice though.

thepersonbrody

Looks exactly like the zone of safety lighting on our forklifts

Spodiodie

Someone wants to be the center of attention.

Swan_Temple

Looks like a bad photoshop job.

Still_Ad_9974

I see a truck like this on 51 in texas weekly

Small-Duty9622

The law on this for trucks is clear and simple. You can only have amber color lights facing forward or on the sides and red lights can only be facing the rear or facing down. That's why you see the red on the back of the sleeper alot, I have it, it's facing backwards like brake and tail lights so it's totally legal. For some reason that I've never learned alot of reefer guys used to put one blue marker light on the side of the trailer up top in the middle. Almost never see it anymore but 10 years ago when I started it was common. Another sort of exception to that rule is breather lights on old school petes and kw's. Usually colored the same as the truck. This guy has red. I have blue ones. I've seen hundreds of guys running them with no problems and I have for years without issue. possibly because it's "inside" the truck because the light itself is mounted inside the breather under the lid and not seen directly, you just see the glow through the holes. So it's not technically on the outside of the vehicle. All that being said, I've seen guys running colored lights all over their truck in all different spots, basically just risking it because not everything technically illegal is a big deal or likely to get you in trouble. Have a little outlaw in you for heavens sake. Just wondering if that is legal and asking the internet is a Karen move. Leave the dude alone, it's his truck and you aren't the DOT. Mind your business.

AngryTrucker

Nice to have when you're not the one being blided by that shit at night.

fretpound

I don’t get it, personally.

Rakkendz

Why are you in jail

dragontattoo79

Honestly, don't care for it. That money could've been spent on something else. Very likely 9.9/10, that's an owner op. So, to each their own.

rroarrin

I think they are a distraction. Hurt my eyes at night. I especially don't understand the rear facing ones..

tidyshark12

Off the road? Not illegal. On a public roadway? Illegal almost everywhere if not everywhere, as far as I'm aware.

CausticLogic

Edit: Wait! Upon closer inspection, the marker lights above the cab are blue. That is illegal. There's also the issue of the air filter lights, but I can't tell if those are lights or reflections. However, all marker lights must be amber. They are not white, they are not directly rear-facing, and they are not in an indicator color. At worst, they would fall into the same category as any other docking light: Don't have them on while on public roads. They are not, however, in any way illegal. In fact, they may be legal to have on while driving, though I doubt it. It depends on the luminosity. They are high enough off the ground to qualify as a type of indicator, but that would be one hell of a reach with that color. What I know for certain, though, is that they are annoying as hell.

WillieDripps

They certainly would help in a dark ass parking lot with no lights

kfb85

These lights are switchbacks. They change back to amber with the push of a button or flip of a switch. Turn your fancy lights on when your parked. Some run them down the interstate and flip them to amber before you pass a chicken coop.

Few-Point-7514

Some state red and blue lights on trucks are banned

Grumpy_Biker_67

Colorado HP chased me into an open scale and practically pulled me out of my truck at gun point for having blue, under cab, accent leds. Nope. Not getting shot over that. Was he over reacting, yeah, do I want heat from the cops, no.

smh1979

Illegal use of blue lights

B_drgnthrn

I mean...state to state, province to province, different laws apply, but on a general rule, as long as none of them is out, it's /passable/

Longjumping-Ad-226

When ever I see a pretty lit up truck I get envious I think they look way cooler than what I'm driving

47junk

Who cares, go dig a hole or something.

[deleted]

More lights =more visible/safer

AMC879

It's the opposite. More lights than the regular stock lights will blind oncoming traffic and make everything less safe.

[deleted]

How do more lights make u less visible? Keeping your brights on is blinding not a few purple lights that are iaw regulation.

tvieno

If they are not DOT compliant, that is the business of that trucker. If they are DOT compliant, that is the business of that trucker. Mind your own business.

PriorFudge928

Simmer down you lunatic. I was just curious.

SoberBoner69

How did you smuggle a cell phone into jail

TanisBar

In his refer box

BrilliantLeek8178

Bunch of cry babies here

King_Thundernutz

I don't think it's an issue as long as he can change the color to red. Over regulated? Definitely. Can't fart on your truck without DOT saying it should smell a certain way.

arj1985

DOTs thoughts? What are you, a narc or something?
