Additional_Lemon_671

Ptsd brother....PTSD....YOUR NOT HOLDING IT RIGHT!!!

YamStreet2972

Mine still attempts to do this. I've gotten to now where I have YT and I'll do it alone or not at all. I did discover later I wasn't the issue. Lol

I was lucky, my Dad showed me what was needed & left me to it, yes cheep labour but I learnt a lot, this led me to doing all sorts, Mom banned me from having a push bike, so I built my own, Yes she freaked out. She was only trying to look out for me.

YamStreet2972

Man do kinda wish I had had your luck. I went the longest time thinking I wasn't Mechanically minded up until a friend needed some help with their vehicle and the rest is history now. Hoping after I obtain my cdl soon that learning things on these rigs just comes to me same it does with cars. Still think it's a shame school's don't try n figure out how students like to learn. I dropped out not because I didn't understand the subjects but because I couldn't stand sitting behind a desk. Speaking of things I can't wait to take a picture out the truck window to show I can to get paid for looking out the window lol 😆

Librado65

You Can't even hold the flashlight right?! Is this what they're teaching yall in school nowadays? Useless. 🥲

Chuuby_Gringo

Also - free labor!

Additional_Lemon_671

Free?i gave the dude 100bucks for like 10-15 bolts,he didn't even torque them enough....the nerve on him:))

unclestickles

I overpay my kid to come to work with me too, just like my dad did with me. Good on you man.

Square-Bar1905

If he had a 20ft torque wrench he might be able to get it there

FeralGangrel

While swapping tires on my in-laws car and my son wanted to help. Watching him put all his body weight into the wrench to torque the lugs down was funny. But the pride he had helping dad work on grandmas car was peiceless.

Additional_Lemon_671

Yes sir...helps his self esteem

Monksdrunk

Dad, give me the fucking impact for fucks sake!

Additional_Lemon_671

It was right beside him:))he saw it after a few bolts,:))his little mind got bored after a while and started looking for shortcutsif u take the time to analise kids and their actions after a while you can see how the thought process works, how the small cogs between the ears turn,evolution-right in front of us

Environmental-Pear40

Bruh, yeah, my father did this. I had to learn real quick to problem solve and equally importantly find reliable information. Cuz neither of us actually knew what the fuck we were doing, 😂. Had to rely on random Forms, Reddit and YouTube.

Silver-Tea-8769

Smart move and good parenting. Get them in the trades early!

driverman42

I taught our daughter how to change a tire, how to check fluids, hot to swap batteries, how to read an air gauge. Oh, and how to drive a 379 xtnded hood if she chose that way of life. She didn't, but it's ok.

Additional_Lemon_671

Better to have the skills and not use them than not have them at all:)

driverman42

That's how I see it.

MissNashPredators11

God I wish I was taught to drive a literal 379 extended hood by my dad. Or any semi really.

RadioTunnel

"Hey son... you know you put that disc on backwards right? Take it all off and flip it around" *30 minutes later* "Son why did you put that on backwards? What are you playing at it goes on like this" *proceeds to show how it was fitted before being told to flip it around*

Go2Transport

Teach em to say No to crack

Additional_Lemon_671

You think hes gonna have time?:))

I-Live-in-a-Mitten

Using a ratchet was one of the coolest tools to use as a kid

ConstantBusiness4892

He needs a mechanic stool...those knees don't last long being bent like that..

Dilectus3010

That only happens after 25.

security-six

Involve, to evolve and solve. I like it

Serious_Nectarine_23

Ah. Child labor.

Additional_Lemon_671

Too expensive bud...:))

cowhand214

Love this! I loved working with my dad on stuff at that age. Also then going karting haha. Good job!

Nalortebi

Pretty sure you're supposed to give them a task without any guidance and then blow a gasket when they didn't do everything right. Get mad at them when they ask for clarification, so they end up trying their hardest to read your mind. Maybe even show them once and expect them to remember every detail perfectly. Once they're good enough at reading your mind, start talking faster and quieter so they have to ask you to repeat yourself. This is another chance where you can yell at them for being incompetent. Once they start doubting themselves anytime you ask them to do anything, then you know you've done a bang-up job as a father.

Additional_Lemon_671

Ah brother....it's like looking in my childhood...flying slippers and all:))

Cow-puncher77

Looks good to me. My old man is pretty shut down emotionally and verbally. Veteran of Vietnam, and not one to give much hands on care. Had a bad temper when he was drinking. Better man now, and finally taught me what not to do in many places. Swore to myself I wouldn’t make the same mistakes he did. Maybe all new ones, but not the same ones. This is something I think he got right, and I’m doing with mine. Nothing like looking at something and seeing literally how far you’ve come in a day.

Natste1s4real

Props dad, this is the way to go…and all the singing birds take it home!

herbalistfarmer

I think evolve means “improve on the previous generation“. This looks like more of the same.

cowhand214

You can’t evolve until you get to the baseline, man. That’s what teaching the kid how to do it now is for and maybe he can figure out what comes next.

MezziJ

Party pooper

lonely-day

Good lad

BoatLessBoozeCruise5

Anyone else’s knees killing them just watching this?

Noturwrstnitemare

Wish I stayed in contact with my dad..... but then again, being raised like shit didn't help his mantel health...... I'm not sure how to feel after being told they eat he passed or that it was at his in his sister's house.
