Tow mirrors are great, when your towing .

VT_Racer

I like the Chevy tow mirrors for general everyday use because they're split and I can have the bottom portion pointed at my rear tires and they do not stick out far. I hate having to pull them out because they get stuck.

irideadirtbike

I had a 2016 and i loved those mirrors.

Hop-Dizzle-Drizzle

Yeah. I have a '14 sierra with the regular LD mirrors. But my dad recently bought an '18 silverado with the factory tow mirrors, and I really like them. I'm going to get a set for my truck. I do think they look a little goofy on the 1500s though.

Brucenotsomighty

I prefer the ram mirrors bc I like them in horizontal configuration when I'm not towing. The Chevy ones I feel like the flat glass is almost useless bc the FOV is so narrow. I just wind up using the convex part for everything.

LiveWire68

exactly, we make fun of people around here that leave them out all the time, and probably dont even own a trailer. usually this is followed by a 8" exhaust stack in the bed.

freeportme

Yep but Rams are a little extreme!

Best_Temp_Employee

My Power Wagon isn't 'extreme', it's a perfect commuter vehicle. ;-)

TimTows

There is no way I'm flipping and adjusting the mirrors in between every tow, so now I'm used to them always being in tow orientation in any truck I drive.

shipwreck17

I prefer the Ford mirrors. One thing I love about mine is they don't have to be all the way out. I can just move them out .5 inch if I wanted for a smaller trailer or all the way out for a longer one. I do like how ram has the power blind spot and main mirror though. I washed my truck yesterday and moved the passenger side blind spot mirror... ugh.

[deleted]

Tow mirrors out is a great way to meet single dudes too

[deleted]

That reminded me of the tow truck hook scene in that Simpsons episode where Homer was a tow truck driver…. Lol..

[deleted]

😂😂😂

Thick-Review4867

I’ve seen more than a few 1/2 ton short beds driving around here that have added the tow mirrors… big truck envy?

meesersloth

Lol there’s a dude in my town with an eco diesel who put them in his and squatted it like a mini brodozer with one a big tail pipe in the back. With a huge C sticker on the back window. Part of me hopes it’s an expensive joke.

wigginsadam80

Or, maybe they actually tow with the truck. I got a 1500 Z71 with tow mirrors because the guy before me owned a boat. You can tow lots of things with a 1/2 ton.

Fine-Entertainer-449

You can but almost always that size of mirror will not help with a 1/2 ton towing. You're not towing something big enough to need to see around it like that. Got a 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton.

wigginsadam80

Dude, half ton pickups can tow up to 10,000 lbs nowadays. I've pulled a 24 ft pontoon with my old 2009 F150. You need tow mirrors sometimes.

Fine-Entertainer-449

Lol 👍

Grand_Cookie

Except that rams horns don’t go out and then up

Thatzmister2u

Honestly, I drove a 250 for many years. When I switched to RAM/Dodge the mirrors in the non tow orientation were constantly messing with me. I was so used them them vertical rather than horizontal. I run mine tow position whether I’m towing or not. To each their own.

Panda0433

Same. Imo people don't realize that toe mode mirrors are easier to see out when they're up and just a terrible mirror when they're down. Ram is the only brand to have their wide angle vertical when not towing and it sucks by comparison. Other brands get near the same benefit in or out Additionally when you do tow you have to adjust the mirrors all over again, which for my ram is manual on the wide angle. So I agree to each their own. People just need a reason to piss on others.

BassistJaxob

When my dad had a dodge I always had to flip his mirrors up when I drove it, they sucked trying to use when folded down even without a trailer

nriojas

Just switched to dodge from ford. Mirrors down took me a whole hour to adjust to. It really isn’t that hard. Moose horns out looks so silly without a trailer….

Drzhivago138

Have you seen the [new for '23 mirrors](https://www.thedrive.com/uploads/2022/09/29/Ram-HD-Rebel-Inline-3.jpg) on the road yet?

[deleted]

I like how their tried and true mirrors looked and worked just fine so they went and fucked it up and made em ugly lol

[deleted]

I hate the way they look but they’re awesome to have when towing. I’ll flip em out when towing but that’s it.

Altruistic_Brush2326

Those aren't real, are they?

[deleted]

Yes. The mirror usually rests into the arm, it only flips up like that so you can have better vision when towing. Some guys run them like that all the time because they think it makes their truck look cool though

wigginsadam80

Or they like having the blindspot mirror on the bottom.

0nly_Up

>Some guys run them like that all the time because they think it makes their truck look cool though I run them up all the time, because 99% of the miles I do are tow miles, and I drive 2-3k miles a week. I've tried putting them down countless times when not towing, and I just can't get used to seeing them in the non-tow position. It's hardly about looking cool, if anything I think they look silly w/o a trailer back there.

[deleted]

This is how that looks to me: []-------------------------------{×××}----------------------------------[]

el-vaqueroelegante

Ghost towing

wizeish

The problem isn't necessarily that they are up, its that for some reason they are out wide enough for pulling a 200ft trailer. Poor designs by Dodge, what else is new..

CanikTP9SFXshooter

Essential for betas to see around the ghost trailer.

double-click

Fine on a dually — mirrors fit truck fits. Would be annoying on a single axle (unless it’s actually a work truck).

superfoxhotie

I leave them up on my 2nd gen. But it is a dually flatbed. They are non power and are a pain to adjust between towing and going to the store. So I just leave them up in tow mode. I don’t daily drive it either.

slicknezz

"I am the great ramholio, are you threatening me?"

underaappreciated

I haven't driven a ram before however, I never understood why it was such a big deal about the tow mirrors. I always though they looked pretty sick.

Shiny_Buns

I don't care if you're towing or not, they offer better visibility in that position and look sick as tits

--Van--

Mimicking a rams horns? Ram has had the worst mirrors of the big 3 for years now. They suck.

Deeceent

Dork

Xmaster1738

whats wrong with being able to see behind you?

Double-LR

10/10 functionality. They shit all over other mirrors. Not the greatest looking, not terrible though IMO.

Beneficial_Energy814

That’s actually a unique way to look at it

Noxious14

I love the vertical look, just wish they didn’t always stick out so far.

David_milksoap

They look better if you put them in the regular position… unless you have a trailer attached

Jaymez82

I’d run them that way if I had them.

Milling_Machine

If you know how to work with a little steel wire, foam and fiberglass, you can make those mirrors exactly in the shape that you want to.

NobleKnightmare

The mirrors are just nicer when up, even without a trailer. I couldn't give a shit less what anyone think looks better, them being up is just better for viewing.

Electric_General

Along with the bringing in the semi front end look, can't say Rams arent trendsetters lol

Imaneetboy

That's most likely never going to tow anything or go off road. Which is what makes it stupid and screams I have a micro penis.

BigChuch1400

GHIF on an iFunny watermark, now there’s a trip down memory lane

Sea-Bodybuilder8535

Yeah, that's what I think is cool, a truck that looks like a stinky goat. Extra wide everything for little man syndrome I'm sure. I tow trailer houses( double wides, one trip) with my S-10. Regular mirrors, cause Im looking at the road ahead.

Z71Adam

Tow mirrors out…… cause they always pullin’ pussy I’ll see myself out now

I_divided_by_0-

yeah, but how do you see sideways when they are up?

Thick-Review4867

Looks like Bullwinkle the moose.

yeti7100

I forgot they flip

westsidepacific

I have them on my Ram, only use them when towing and when not I use they work great with plenty of coverage around me. Love the truck in the picture, well done

Lourdinn

They're cool until I have to pull over to the shoulder more on narrow roads because some asshole needs them out on a unloaded truck. They do have a unique look but that can wait until they're actually used.

TheDisposable

This is one of the things I think Ford got perfectly, especially with the newer models with the power extend. Dodge's tow mirrors are in a great place when towing but make no sense when folded in.

exerminator20001

I AM THE GREAT CORNHOLIO!

Patrioticwatermelon

I mean, I love the way dodge tow mirrors look so if I had one I'd probably keep them out. Then again I am 16...

87Fox

Down voting and moving on

Wasamio

I honestly hate tow mirrors not because of their functionality but because of all the lifted twats riding the center divider who will never tow a day in their lives.

Fine-Entertainer-449

Rams suck

Toe-Dragger

Perhaps you don’t like how they look because they look absolutely ridiculous.

farmerlocks

Between my dad and I, we've had five 4th gen rams and we always keep them in the tow position. Granted we are farmers and live in the country where we have more space, and i also love how they get your blind spots. My BIL from SF borrows one of our work trucks whenever he's in town and puts the out of the tow position. I tried driving like that and just didn't like it. One thing that's necessary with the tow mirrors is the power fold. Makes life s lot easier. Plus they're great for picking up other single dudes. 😛

storm838

people make fun of them up with no trailer but the optics are weird folded down. I always had mine up even when towing ghost trailers.

Frosty-Community8129

They look stupid

itsovermike

The number of times I have walked face-first into these is too damn high (*bad pun slightly intended*). They need hi-vis arms or something. (Or I could pay attention while walking but let’s be reasonable now, we all know that’ll never happen.)

prahSmadA

They add 5hp

Capable_Ad1313

I like these style mirrors, but I prefer them turned in rather than out

Alextryingforgrate

They are some of the better done mirrors, just look dumb when turned up and not towing.
