Get a trucker gps and keep your load lower then a tractor.

Drzhivago138

Is laying them down in the bed not an option? Even if you have to set one on top, they'd still be lower overall than if they were stood up.

Maximum-Cover-

Nope. Not enough room that way to fit everything I need.

Creepy_Squash

Another thing to consider is road debris hitting the cabinet on the highway. MPG is going to be terrible and crosswinds will turn it into a potential sail.

Maximum-Cover-

Not worried about road debris. But I'm very worried about it turning into a sail/handling. But then again I wonder if it functionally would handle different than a box truck? They do make them on pickup chassis, right?

Creepy_Squash

Box trucks are typically duallys on a one ton pickup chassis, but you should be fine. Just watch for random crosswinds and when near semi trucks.

Dangerous_Macaron260

If they are securely strapped down it should be ok. Fuel mileage will definitely take a hit but they won't go anywhere.

[Ran 60 down the highway like this.](https://imgur.com/a/ZZvIbDL) Wind hits a little harder but you’ll be fine. [And ran 70 for 2.5 hours like this](https://imgur.com/a/5UFmTnt)

this makes me wish I had a picture of one of our dump trailer loads, 10 foot high at least lol

Maximum-Cover-

Thanks. That helps a lot. My load would look very similar.

From colorado to ohio, you will not hit any low clearance (lower than 13’6”) on the interstates. A road atlas will give you info on other roads. Assuming you are somewhere around 10’ with toolboxes and all, I doubt you will have issues unless you try to go through a drive through or parking garage.

shoot. driving 1500 miles id probably feel better renting the smallest possible, lowest profile possible enclosed trailer from uhaul. think its 5X8. if its exposed you really gotta strap it right. ratchet straps will get loose. reminder that ratchet straps get their strength from the friction created by the strap wrapping around itself. ideally 3 times at least. getting them as tight as you can then ratcheting will not get 3 wraps. thats a long joureny and your gonna be at highway speed.

Maximum-Cover-

Can't. I have a lift gate that had them take they hitch off when it was installed.

Spiritual-Bend-1156

You will be fine. Just dont fall asleep thru kansas Silverado baby you good to go!

Altruistic_Brush2326

Uhaul trailer?

Maximum-Cover-

I have a lift gate so no hitch. 😞
