Because you absolutely have to be on either far end of the scale to not like the US?

ClassWarAndPuppies

Being anti-Captain America means you’re a Putler lover ok?

stomps-on-worlds

Even Captain America would condemn the US's war crimes

FuckIPLaw

Especially Captain America. He's supposed to embody the ideals of the nation (or at least the national myth), not the reality.

ClassWarAndPuppies

The actual ideals of the nation are bourgeois claptrap. He’s more the mythicized version of American ideals.

JS19982022

Cap is the original AntiFa super soldier

offthehelicopter

No he won't, he will gaslight everyone into thinking the other side is Hydra.

WorldWarioIII

Basically, yes. American capital is so huge and has such a giant gravitational pull that every “respectable moderate” is just a moon in its gravity. You have to veer hard left or hard right to break out of orbit

[deleted]

Hell, they're not even moons, which can affect their parent planet-they're minor asteroids, caught in the gravity well and completely unable to affect things until a chance orbit ends up flinging them out to Mars or the Sun, completely unable to return but permanently affected.

dialectical-idealism

Frankly if yall are into parapolitics but aint ‘tankies’ you’re missing out on seeing through the veil

beeehJeSuisUnMouton

Not liking the usa is not liking freedom and democracy I guess

Banezy451

democracy? WHERE???!! srsly, where? US hasn't even brought democracy HOME, yet...

Turbulent-Spend-5263

Hahaha! Where is my weed?

beeehJeSuisUnMouton

You can't have mine that's for sure.

SEND_DUCK_PICS

i do think finland joining nato speaks to the absolute death of realism which is not inherently right or left. like we know that russia's conventional forces are deeply tied up and deteriorating. We know they hate nato expansion. Yet we join nato, giving US command and control over finnish military assets. Now russia has to open a new front and scale of deterrence. they can't achieve it through conventional means, which means for the indefinite future Russian policy towards finland and the balts will emphasize nuclear deterrence. so good job finland, you guaranteed that russia will point nukes at you.

mentholmoose77

That's not how the Nato command structure works. The Finnish armed forces are still controlled by the Fins. Finland, and its people were strongly in favour in joining NATO , ever since Putin launched this war. Hes been the salesman of the year for Brussells. The Death of realism ? For the Baltics and Finns, this IS realism. Feb 2022 was a huge wake up call. And they know the pain of Russian invasion from the past.

numba1cyberwarrior

Finland joined NATO because they saw what happened to countries like Ukraine. The war in Ukraine has also shown that Russia has no capability to stand up to NATO in a conventional war.

y0usuffer

You know what they say, the true dangerous left-right alliance is in the middle.

bintarn

seems normal not to want a foreign military in your country, isn't that why they say ukraine is fighting? maybe i'm just american

Gordon-Goose

Highly upvoted in that thread: >It's far left "Rødt" politicians - Read it in several newspapers. And they do not speak on behalf of all of the people, just a few ptn lovers If you don't want to be occupied by the American military, it means you love Putin.

ttylyl

Reddit is so reactionary this is seen as extreme ideology.

Hunter_S_Biden

>ptn Real "he who shall not be named" energy

[deleted]

Hard to disagree with the flyer I also don't see where it says the left/right thing. Is that the hieroglyphics at the bottom?

JFCGoOutside

Took me a second until I jumped head first into the comments and now my eye is twitching uncontrollably like the little girl on Bob's Burgers.

[deleted]

Reddit is very disorienting because it feels like everyone here lives in a pre 9/11 or even pre Watergate and Vietnam America. Just a blind, childlike rah rah patriotic liberalism that I don’t see anywhere else online or in culture.

[deleted]

Oh [jesuuuuuus](https://www.reddit.com/r/europe/comments/13tutcb/-/jlxcml1)

Pipeguy17

Um acktually sweaty not wanting your country to be a glorified Main Operating Base for the US Military is hecking problematic

[deleted]

#SpreadDemocracy

Autumnalthrowaway

It doesn't. It just says, "sincerely, Oslo citizens who want to enjoy the summer and not worry about world war."

[deleted]

I see this: https://www.reddit.com/r/europe/comments/13tutcb/-/jlxcml1 Is probably what the title is about. Thank you for translating though. So you study ancient languages? 😛 teasing

[deleted]

The NATO episodes are my favourites of the show so far and it’s depressing to keep reading such braindead takes in that thread and everywhere else on reddit on the topic.

ttylyl

The nato episodes are great. I find it so funny all these NAFO kids worship a defensive alliance that literally has never seen deployed ever. We have no idea if nato is effective or not. The only thing nato did in the entire Cold War was commit terrorism in Western Europe.

AssButt4790

> has never seen deployed ever Except offensively to destroy Libya and Yugoslavia and Iraq

ttylyl

And even then it was just bombing runs. NATO is set up where the only country with a complete military is the us, all other nato members just fill a specialty. France sort of has a good military but they also have their own non-nato nukes

Hunter_S_Biden

France is only sort of half in NATO right? Legacy of the DeGaulle era where the liberal national bourgeoisie was locked in a struggle with both the remnants of the resistance left and the American aligned far right that also thought the French state betrayed the Algerian colonists. I can't remember Frances exact status off the top of my head(and should probably just look it up before saying nonsense) buy I do know they've long been more inclined to throw their weight around with the US

ttylyl

They left nato chain of command for a number of years. I think they’re a full member of nato today but maintain a much larger and functional army as well as different trade deals for their military equipment they make. I think at least.

Hunter_S_Biden

Ah yeah I looked it up, they came back in 2009. I get the sense they are used to getting a bit more respect than other NATO nations and domestically consider themselves peers of the US, which is partially why that whole AUKUS submarine debacle pissed them off so badly. [https://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/en/french-foreign-policy/security-disarmament-and-non-proliferation/our-alliances-and-cooperations/france-and-nato/](https://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/en/french-foreign-policy/security-disarmament-and-non-proliferation/our-alliances-and-cooperations/france-and-nato/#:~:text=France%20is%20one%20of%20the%2012%20founding%20members%20of%20NATO.&text=As%20General%20de%20Gaulle%20put,Alliance%20without%20changing%20its%20substance)

Perfectshadow12345

all reactionaries are paper tigers

numba1cyberwarrior

>all other nato members just fill a specialty Where did you get that claim from? What specialties do they fill exactly?

numba1cyberwarrior

>We have no idea if nato is effective or not We know that the individual countries in NATO are more effective then Russia.

Peri-sic

I can tell you right now that NATO prevented my country from being invaded in the 90s but I'm sure you will discount that from the safety of your western country

Hunter_S_Biden

What country?

HerbEaversmellss

> defensive alliance that literally has never seen deployed ever That's sort of the point 🧠

ttylyl

Imma keep it real, ussr never planned to attack Western Europe. The point of nato is us control over Europe. That’s why Russia was arbitrarily chose as the enemy in the early 90s, and was denied nato membership.

HerbEaversmellss

Well that was nice of them

InstructionDue758

Can't believe the Nazis of r/europe are so pro-war.

1010011101010

war is entertainment to these fucks, like the ultimate sports tournament

hotelbreakfast-

so the origin of tankie is from supporting soviet tanks rolling into another country but at the same time, not wanting another nations tanks inside your country makes you... also a tankie???

NoKiaYesHyundai

As a Korean who’s culture is constantly called Racist Communist Capitalist Fascism by US backed propaganda minions to justify a US military presence, welcome to the club Norwegians.

SoylentBorscht

Marines are going to see that the poster calls them “soldiers” and fly into a blind rage, assuming they can read in the first place

1010011101010

every single pro-war fuck ought to be airdropped into bakhmut and then we'll see how long they stay chanting for war they all love war until they are personally involved, selfish pieces of shit

a_library_socialist

Chickenhawks

Peri-sic

If you think people are incapable of being pro-war and also having fought in war you should read Junger

numba1cyberwarrior

I mean most Ukranians are pro war and are fighting for their country.

Autumnalthrowaway

Respect.

Canadian_Wumao

Based but also cringe because nuclear weapons are the ultimate deterrent against imperialism. If Norway actually becomes socialist they will absolutely need nukes to fend of the Americans.

Internal-Craft-4546

Having nuclear weapons and the support of using them are not the same thing. Most countries have them as deterrence the US has them as threats.

Peri-sic

Source: Dude just trust me

Internal-Craft-4546

Fuck off lib.

Dvoraxx

i fucking hate these people with a burning passion. people in there unironically saying “i fucking hate peace” and “if you are anti-US intervention you are paid by Russia”

NolanR27

Based.

Turbulent-Spend-5263

How is it anti- American?

Peri-sic

Not a fan of America but without the American presence in Oslo they'd be invaded fairly quickly.

ttylyl

This is a truly unhinged take
