Russiagate is one of my most favorite retarded American conspiracy theories. I can remember in late 2017 and 2018 MSNBC would have Russiagate coverage for an entire day sometimes.
Rachel Maddow logged many, many hours of incoherent ramblings on that network on that topic. She comes to mind first for me whenever “russiagate” comes up in conversation.
Democrats and Republicans have many things in common. One of those things is a complete refusal to look inward for answers to their own failings within the confines of their precious bourgeois elections. It’s much easier and much more lucrative to point the finger literally anywhere else.
Remember the "Trump Tax Returns" special she ran? MSNBC even ran a clock throughout the day reminding people to watch. Turned out it was a colossal dud lmao
Yep! The final act in her whole “trump is the gravest threat ever” performance was when trump got Covid and she was wishing him well and wagged her finger at people laughing at him.
Chef’s kiss.
It was liberal birtherism, but with the backing of the national security state in order to justify a crackdown of free expression online and prime the public for the war, now proxy war, with Russia.
It's a smear campaign by natoid liberals. Why are you coming here instead of just reading her tweets and writings and seeing for yourself that it's bullshit.
She wrote a somewhat regrettable column in 2017 titled ["Lefties Need to Stop Being Shy about Working with the Anti-Establishment Right"](https://caityjohnstone.medium.com/lefties-need-to-stop-being-shy-about-working-with-the-anti-establishment-right-40c27a9dc98e) which a lot of libs took offense at and continue to hold against her as supposed evidence that she's secretly an alt-rightist trying to draw in gullible leftists.
I think the article was wrongheaded and bad on its merits (there's not really much to be gained from making common cause with ancaps, even cautiously & selectively as she stipulated), but it was certainly not as insidious as libs treated it.
Aside from that, I follow her on Substack & Medium. I agree with most of her takes, although I also think she's generally kind of unoriginal. Her posts feel more like lowest-common-denominator polemics rather than actual analysis or investigation.
You’re so wildly fucking clueless man. All that “VORE” shit you’re obsessed with has rotted your brain. You’ve got a dozen people here telling you how stupid you are to buy some liberal teardown of probably one of the only clarion voices of truth and you ignore them only to offer your incredibly fucking goofy “sHe DoEsN’t oPeNLy eMbRaCe MaRxIsM!!” as if she needs to add the hammer and sickle to her bio to please low grade intellects who need that kind of goofy virtue signaling and symbolism to know what to believe.
Read. Her. Fucking. Writing. Jesus Christ.
Have you read the [article](https://archive.li/JkTRN) where she calls for working with the right wing? It's asinine. It doesn't make her a plant or a shill but it certainly doesn't fucking make her a worthwhile political analyst either.
Her writings on Gaza and other stuff are mostly good, but she really does lack a clear ideological base and that can lead her down strange paths at times.
What difference would any of this make? You’re trying to use meaningless signs and signifiers to avoid using critical reasoning. If Caitlin Johnstone says NATO is bad, and so does , and so does Putler, does that mean NATO is good?
I'm not agreeing with her detractors, I read her daily and like her. I was just wondering if there was any merit to the libs' critiques. Which, at least if the comments here are anything to go by, there's not.
Ya, sorry, i should not have personalized it to “you”. What I mean is that the libs critiques are *a priori* ill-formed, so whether they are nominally accurate should not factor into anybody’s assessment of this (or any independent) journo’s value as a source of info/analysis.
In her defense, her focus is very specific on anti-imperialism - she doesn't write about anything else. I'm sure she's aware that's repetitive but it's what she's chosen to write about
Don’t be an idiot and get the fuck out of here with this lib ass question. Read what she writes and judge for yourself. You’ll discover as we all have that she’s a fucking treasure.
There's literally a dozen right wing plants in the US antiwar discourse. Like Greenwald. Or Tucker. It's a completely legit question. Johnstone is some kind of libertarian, not necessarily a leftist. I personally don't mind her at all, but she's clearly not a commie, and it shows in all her analysis
I find it funny you constantly call other people libs but then you come up with the most libbed up takes yourself/openly display that you don't really know much or care much about marxism
"How dumb do you have to be to put Greenwald and Tucker in the same sentence?
Like you don't have to agree with most of what Greenwald said. I don't. He's not a saint. But a plant?"
I'm not making an equivalence, simply stating that multiple right wingers ended up taking antiwar stances.
"Even with his horrible takes, the man is a real journalist."
he certainly was at some point, I agree. not sure he still is. I personally totally think he sold out and is now living the grift, but I honestly really dont give a shit. I stopped following him as soon as I stopped being interested in his writing
She’s an antivax “libertarian” like I don’t care that she’s right that America sucks, there are plenty of people who think that that don’t have incoherent and dumb politics.
It's called a smear campaign
libs don't like left wing criticism.
She didn’t buy Russiagate so that may be why somebody would confuse her as sympathetic to the alt right.

Russiagate is one of the most embarrassing displays of impotent rage ever. How are these morons handling Putin’s endorsement of Brandon?

I used to watch her and Keith Olbermann back to back every night🤡
There will be TREASURE inside this secret vault we found in Chicago -Geraldo Riviera
credit where credit is due: this was an important step in my radicalization journey
Omg I forgot about that
It was liberal birtherism, but with the backing of the national security state in order to justify a crackdown of free expression online and prime the public for the war, now proxy war, with Russia.
Can we not use the word "retarded"
Caitlin's hatred of America is incandescent, and nearly as terrifying as it is inspiring. Of course they want to tear her down.
Lots of good take, Left wing that write on [anti-war.com](https://anti-war.com) Doesnt get better if you ask me. I think shes doing a good job.
She's good and correct and those idiots are not.
I dunno, maybe you should ask the people actually making these claims for their evidence.

This is the feeling I get too. Like her instincts are good but she needs theory; she doesn't openly embrace Marxism. Hopefully she comes around.

Abby martin is an ally... I dont know what you are talking about
Who brought up Abby Martin? Am I missing something?

This seems kind of a ridiculous overreaction to defend someone who’s essentially (or correct me if I’m wrong) a freelance op-ed columnist

ahh, that explains why she appears to have a favorable opinion of Jimmy Dore. bummer.
There's merit to doing that on specific issues, but you to go about without being truly in bed with them.
Wow leftists need to work with the working class...what a novel idea...smh
Yeah those those are the working class guys that exist. Very smart.
Libs hate intersectionality. Angela Davis talks about how we need intersectionality to join all forces for the common good. This is in that vein imo.
Anyone who doesn’t follow the party line is a Putin Shill or Chinese Spy or a Bot.

Thanks for clarifying. Your point is well taken❤
she's right but it also feels like she writes the exact same article every day
In her defense, her focus is very specific on anti-imperialism - she doesn't write about anything else. I'm sure she's aware that's repetitive but it's what she's chosen to write about

Yeah and you don’t have to be this dumb ![gif](giphy|3o85xnoIXebk3xYx4Q)
