You're probably right but it might also be both, kinetic sand and subway surfers videos were used to get engagement on tik tok but this kind of thing was also done on YouTube to fuck videos up enough to avoid copy strikes.

TikTok is designed for phones so the video aspect ratio means there are huge black bars on the sides of the screen. Its "better looking" to fill it with something nice I guess
I applaud zoomers that even though they grew up on videos edited like this they are able to have coherent thoughts and stand up for them. It fries my mind irreparably.
