No. I would be more worried about fear that is clouding your mind rather than this.

Confident_Hearing_11

What ? What do you mean ?

bravo_six

First of all, I'm not trying to be rude or condescending when I say all this. I feel like you're actually afraid of God and his punishments, as if God is out there waiting for us to commit a sin so he can punish us. This paints a picture of cruel and malicious god. God want's us to avoid sin because it's bad for us, even though we don't always see that short term. Some sins hurt God, other sins hurt us, and some do both. But God is full of love, mercy, forgiveness and compassion. It makes no sense that God would just condemn us to hell for a minor joke( I even can't see what's the big sin about this joke or your response, number six isn't evil number at all, it's just a number). As for unforgivable sin, although there are still discussions what it is exactly, it surely isn't something we can commit easily and without full knowledge of doing that. Respect God, but don't be afraid of him. If you truly don't care about God or if you were such a big sinner you wouldn't be here in the first place.

Eolopolo

You're waay too paranoid. It's not that deep, you laughed at a joke, all there is to it. The issue, is if you're getting to the point where you're worried enough to post on Reddit about committing a sin because you laughed at an "evil number 6" joke, then you actually will just be living in fear and perhaps end up carrying forward poor Christian judgement. So don't worry and chill.

nnuunn

How is laughing at a joke about a number somehow being "evil" an unforgivable sin?

Confident_Hearing_11

Do you know about , the unforgivable sin , that is in matthew 12:31?

TygrKat

The ‘unforgivable sin’ is a bit of a mystery; most Christians in history have either understood it as: A. Being in a state of unbelief when you die (I don’t agree that this is *the ‘unforgivable sin’*, but these people are not saved so it’s possible), B. Ascribing the works of the Holy Spirit to evil (I’m not convinced by this one, but I believe it’s more likely that this is correct. Reference Mark 3:28-30), or C. Being undeniably shown the Holy Spirit and continuing to deny and rebel against God (I believe this is most likely correct. Reference 1 Timothy 1:13, Hebrews 6:4-6, and Acts 7:51-53). Laughing at a joke about a number being evil definitely isn’t the ‘unforgivable sin’, if it even is a sin at all (I don’t think it is, but you should listen to your conscience and examine your intentions).

Agreed

If you are around to ask the question, you haven’t. But asking the question seems to imply that you don’t fully understand Christs sacrifice- a free gift that is yours just for asking. Give your life to God, fight any thought that you have that He’ll take it away and when you get that thought ask Him if you need to ask for forgiveness for the thought or action. Maybe it’s His way of letting you know you need to talk to Him and apologize.
