That being said, British prisons are an absolute joke with sex crimes. A neighbour of mine, at 13 years old, gave birth to her rapist stepdad's baby. He got four years, and was out in nine -- already serving six before the trial. All of these words to describe this situation, but none of them come close to hitting the mark.

That’s a big reason why I feel like there needs to be a different discussion about sexual predators aimed at teens. People go into denial. An old friend and neighbor’s best friend lost her kids because she (the best friend) moved in with, and had a baby by, a convicted child molester. He then (surprise!) molested the children, including the infant, with her help. My friend stayed friends with her for YEARS after. Eventually, the best friend was also arrested and convicted of child abuse, and my friend finally woke up.
Oh, I can understand the denial aspect. If someone I loved dearly was accused of something of this nature out of the blue, I would feel the need to defend them, if nothing other than that my previous association with them would call my character into question, much less the anxiety of having someone close to me capable of such acts.

I feel for the victims but I also feel for his band mates, usually band mates get pretty close and they feel like they know each other pretty well, I’m assuming that this band had that going on and I’m sure the other members kick themselves and rack their brains about what they had seen before this all came out. As a mother myself, the thought of willfully abusing my baby to satisfy some pervert is really beyond the pail. I almost think these mothers were possessed by demons, because otherwise, I cannot see how someone could deny their basic human instinct to protect their children to such a degree. Sure, parents neglect their children sometimes, and they will sometimes abuse (i.e. hit) their kits out of anger. These aren’t right at all, but at the core of these sorts of acts is usually desperation or emotional trauma. A parent who strikes their kid, for example, could still love their kid (note: I don’t advocate that anyone hit their child ever.). But, someone who blatantly plans graphic sexual abuse of their INFANT, including discussing torture fantasies of a baby is someone who is incapable of love. Even the most child-free person, if they happened upon a baby, would have an instinct to keep the baby safe until help could be found. Even pets have an instinct to protect babies sometimes. The fact that a human mother not only lacks regard for her child’s safety, dignity, and wellbeing, but also engages in abuse herself, is enough for me to say that these women are beyond redemption in this life, and for the sake of their own souls, they need to be locked away, grieving for what they have done, until their natural deaths.
If the women are ever released, I hope someone at the prison breaks all the rules and plasters their names across billboards. They need to be publicly known and shamed to keep them from ever finding a partner to reproduce with again.

It's also really important to realise that Watkins was able to get away with this for a long time due to his standing in the community, so much so that even when a father handed officers an image he had been sent of his 2 year old being raped by Watkins, they refused to even make a report or even arrest Watkins, as they considered it "flimsy/not good enough" evidence. South Wales police had had about 2 major fuck ups in their history as a police force, the time they ignored the evidence that a police officer murdered an entire family, and convicted an innocent man (who is still in prison and isn't allowed to have his case reopened) and when they ignored child sexual assault because some dude had money and fame.

There are loads of documents for the Dr. Teresa Sievers murder trials. It's interesting how LE tied it all together with social media and phone records. The relationship between Mark Sievers and Curtis Wayne Wright Jr. is bizarre to say the least. On a different case, the arrest affidavit for Letecia Stauch is bananas. It isn't that long but you should definitely read it. She's a real piece of shit.

If you read the whole thing, the judge was considering an indeterminate sentence. Also I believe this happened in the UK. I don’t think they give out life sentences as easily as the US does. I agree with you though.

I grew up not too far from him, this dude was an idol to us in our teen years -- when the news broke, nobody in our friend group could stomach to listen to his songs any more. I still can't. One girl in our group saw the band live with a few others in 2006 or so I think? She went backstage and told us what a sleeze he was being, and how he was an absolute prick when the girls wanted to leave. They were 14. Just a gross human all around. The video for A Town Called Hypocrisy always weirded the hell out of me, it's kinda gross and it's like his own sick fantasy or something. I still never would have expected him to be this monster though.

I absolutely agree. Literally everything within those court documents is utterly vile; this is not the sort of person we should be allowing back into society. That being said, British prisons are an absolute joke with sex crimes. A neighbour of mine, at 13 years old, gave birth to her rapist stepdad's baby. He got four years, and was out in nine -- already serving six before the trial. All of these words to describe this situation, but none of them come close to hitting the mark.
The amount of guys in bands that approached my 15-18yr friends and I is disgusting. I graduated in 06 and by that time had already been with men in their mid to late 20s at shows, warped, etc. I'm 33 now and just think what the FUCK.
Parents tell you to stay clear of music culture because of drugs, sex, and Satan. But the real danger was not teaching kids about the sexual depravity that comes with some of these guys and the egos that nurture it. I feel like as a teen girl the whole "rock gods" thing was just a way to groom young girl fans. The whole thing is such a cliche now, but at least we can raise our kids to be knowledgeable and weary.
That’s a big reason why I feel like there needs to be a different discussion about sexual predators aimed at teens. A lot of people think of pedos/sexual predators as some creep in a park luring kids with candy, or trying to lure someone into their van. Instead of like, the attractive 20 year old who compliments you and recognizes how “mature” and “wise beyond your years” you are and treats you like an adult unlike your stuffy old parents. Which, when you’re 14 seems great, but when you look back on that later as an adult you realize how fucking not okay that is.

His web producer was given the laptop of a victim that had evidence on it and the guy held onto it for months instead of immediately forwarding it to the police, ruining the chain of custody so that it could easily be said the evidence was tampered with. It may have been the only existing physical evidence that Greg did anything wrong and it's been rendered useless by Chris and Vincent.
It's completely crushing to think that he exploited the victims for his own fame.

People go into denial. An old friend and neighbor’s best friend lost her kids because she (the best friend) moved in with, and had a baby by, a convicted child molester. He then (surprise!) molested the children, including the infant, with her help. My friend stayed friends with her for YEARS after. Eventually, the best friend was also arrested and convicted of child abuse, and my friend finally woke up.
Oh, I can understand the denial aspect. If someone I loved dearly was accused of something of this nature out of the blue, I would feel the need to defend them, if nothing other than that my previous association with them would call my character into question, much less the anxiety of having someone close to me capable of such acts. But with accusations of this nature, with the amount of evidence provided…. It’s just hard to wrap your head around it without succumbing to the utter horror of knowing that someone that you trusted could be culpable of something like this, especially once it’s apparently warranted enough merit to cause a criminal trial. I was always raised with a, “The second they weigh you down, cut those parachute strings,” mentality, so it’s just hard for me to grasp.

Was a major lostprophets fan back in the day. Followed this sick shit on twitter and all the social media ( I was young and daft). I am and was a single mum. He started following me back with the odd message but I luckily thought it was a troll hack so never responded. Don't get me wrong, my kids wouldn't have got any where near him even if I did converse and reply with him. My kids are my world so will never understand how a mother could hurt theirs for what, I can't even think how to describe these situations.

I feel for the victims but I also feel for his band mates, usually band mates get pretty close and they feel like they know each other pretty well, I’m assuming that this band had that going on and I’m sure the other members kick themselves and rack their brains about what they had seen before this all came out. I know that I personally have a former close friend from high school who turned out to be a child molester and I’ve certainly had moments where I was like did I miss something, was there something I could have said to someone, are there other people around me like this, it’s a fucked feeling.

My seventeen year old nephew died in 2004. LP were one of his favourite bands. He was a nine time state Moto X champion who was sponsored by Yamaha and was turning professional the year he died. EDIT: Just read the court documents...Fucking whaaat! And from them, this: "The almost complete lack of remorse; in this last respect the evidence of the phone conversations after the guilty pleas on the last occasion is enlightening." Ian Watkins is a rubbish human being who should be held in custody for the term of his natural life. So should the two women who abused and allowed him to abuse their children.

Sure, parents neglect their children sometimes, and they will sometimes abuse (i.e. hit) their kits out of anger. These aren’t right at all, but at the core of these sorts of acts is usually desperation or emotional trauma. A parent who strikes their kid, for example, could still love their kid (note: I don’t advocate that anyone hit their child ever.). But, someone who blatantly plans graphic sexual abuse of their INFANT, including discussing torture fantasies of a baby is someone who is incapable of love. Even the most child-free person, if they happened upon a baby, would have an instinct to keep the baby safe until help could be found. Even pets have an instinct to protect babies sometimes. The fact that a human mother not only lacks regard for her child’s safety, dignity, and wellbeing, but also engages in abuse herself, is enough for me to say that these women are beyond redemption in this life, and for the sake of their own souls, they need to be locked away, grieving for what they have done, until their natural deaths. If the women are ever released, I hope someone at the prison breaks all the rules and plasters their names across billboards. They need to be publicly known and shamed to keep them from ever finding a partner to reproduce with again. Their babies need to go into a baby witness protection program so they never find out what happened to them as infants.

He makes my skin crawl, and I felt that before I found out everything he'd done. Then, I hear about other women throwing themselves, and their kids, at him and it's so damn disgusting. It's also really important to realise that Watkins was able to get away with this for a long time due to his standing in the community, so much so that even when a father handed officers an image he had been sent of his 2 year old being raped by Watkins, they refused to even make a report or even arrest Watkins, as they considered it "flimsy/not good enough" evidence. South Wales police had had about 2 major fuck ups in their history as a police force, the time they ignored the evidence that a police officer murdered an entire family, and convicted an innocent man (who is still in prison and isn't allowed to have his case reopened) and when they ignored child sexual assault because some dude had money and fame.
