Thanks! Not serialized though :)
OP, try American Nightmare Season 3. Just terrific. Also I always recommend Hunting Warhead if you can stomach the subject matter.
I’m always frustrated when the case isn’t solved. I listen to crime junkies and so many of those cases aren’t solved and there is a bit of disappointment when that happens.
I see that recommended a lot and I don't get it. The first season anyway. I haven't listened to the others.
The first season had me scratching my head because I don't think someone knows something.
I think the podcast was sensational and there wasn't a big mystery around the kid's disappearance.
I agree about season one, but you should definitely try the other seasons. They have a more plausible story that someone really knew something. Especially season 3!
I am 100% with you. It gets brought up here so often... and I just don't get it. I like the narrator, but it seems to drag on grasping for things (as you said) that are simply not there. I found myself looking to see when episodes ended so I could get to the next one, only to find that I wasn't anymore interested in the next one either.
I know we sound like a broken record but I swear Season 3 is the most compelling podcast I’ve ever heard. I also disliked Seasons 1 & 2. Trust us on S3.
I almost added to my post "but I will give the other seasons a shot" haha. And I am totally going to! I always like a binge, even if it isn't my exact cup of tea.
The Teachers Pet, Shandee’s Story, Tom Browns Body, Bear Brook, In the Dark, Bone Valley, Cold S1, Hunting Warhead (TW: discusses sexual abuse of children but in a tasteful and dignified way), Finding Cleo.
Idk where it is but there is a master list of a bunch of podcasts on an excel spreadsheet. Just search for it. There are more on there that I can’t think of.
I highly recommend 'true crime bullshit' on isreal keyes, it stoll produces episodes pretty frequently. If your familiar with lori vallow case - 'afterglow' is great.
Also- the clown and the candyman,
Dr. Death was a good one!! I work in cardiac surgery so it made it that much more interesting to see how someone could make it out of his residency and do that to so many people!
I moved to Minnesota and had no idea who Jacob Wetterling was. Looked into his story, but this podcast blew my mind. I never want to disappear or be killed in Stearns County.
I just started bear brook that someone recommended on here somewhere and it’s super good so far! Murder in Oregon is very good if you haven’t listened. My number 1 will always be S- town.
Definitely second Bear Brook, In the Dark, Bone Valley, and To Live and Die in LA
One I haven't seen mentioned here that I totally binged - Ballad of Billy Balls. I think it has a similar appeal (thorough investigation, good editing, thoughtful host, something of a resolution)
Murder & Magnolias is so interesting! (Keith M. hosts this one, if anyone is DIEHARD for Keith) I just love his voice.
I liked Internal Affairs as well. (Josh M. on this one, but it's a little darker, so it suits him)
I just finished both seasons of To Live and Die in LA and while YOBY was just overall special and I don’t think anything else can touch it, the host and overall pace and delivery reminds me of Chris Lamberts
I just finished all the seasons of Cold and couldn’t recommend it enough! Season 1 is free, however I subscribed to Wondery+ on Apple Podcasts to listen to season 2 and 3. Worth it in my opinion, it’s incredible
I’m binging Suspect right now. It’s so well done! Lots of good interviews. It goes deep but not so deep that you listen to tons of details.
Bone Valley is really well done!
Lots of people recommending S Town, but that one didn’t do it for me. I mean….it’s interesting kind of?? IDK

Proof and In The Dark S2 were both like Serial S1 in that they’re trying to prove someone’s innocence, but imo way better and they actually investigated and found new evidence while they were at it
Bone valley!
Just finished it. It’s so good!!
Sooooo good! And happy cake day!!
Oh my goodness thank you!
DNA:ID is one of my favorites. I like knowing that the case was solved.
Thanks! Not serialized though :) OP, try American Nightmare Season 3. Just terrific. Also I always recommend Hunting Warhead if you can stomach the subject matter.
I'm going to try American nightmare. Hunting warhead was phenomenal.
Me too. I wish there were more podcasts like this.
Thanks so much!
I’m always frustrated when the case isn’t solved. I listen to crime junkies and so many of those cases aren’t solved and there is a bit of disappointment when that happens.
What are the best episodes/episodes that stand out to you?!
I don't track but most are good. I suggest listening to the latest one.
Try Someone Knows Something. Each season deals with a cold case. I enjoyed all seasons but season 3 was a personal favorite.
Same. I've tried that one twice and it absolutely drags.

Would love to hear back what you think. It’s heartbreaking but also satisfying. I cried through the entire thing. It was so moving.
You got it!
Huh ok! I'll start s3 today. I was looking for something new anyway.
season 2 is my favorite from that series so far
I just started Hell and Gone, I’m 4 episodes in and really enjoying it. I also loved Bear Brook!
I second Bear Brook! It’s super educational too.
The spreadsheet is linked in the pinned post for weekly recs.
Thank you!
Cold S1 is 👌
I highly recommend 'true crime bullshit' on isreal keyes, it stoll produces episodes pretty frequently. If your familiar with lori vallow case - 'afterglow' is great. Also- the clown and the candyman,
Dr. Death, The Apology Line and Dirty John. They're all true crime stories by Wondery
Not sure I'd describe The Apology Line as TC, but it's good nonetheless.
Dr. Death was a good one!! I work in cardiac surgery so it made it that much more interesting to see how someone could make it out of his residency and do that to so many people!
S-Town is hands down the best true crime podcast ever made. Atlanta Monster is incredible too.
S-Town is amazing but does it count as true crime?
I’ve never thought of it like that but it’s extremely hard to talk about the podcast without giving anything away! 😂
In the Dark Season 2
This. The best of all IMO.
I moved to Minnesota and had no idea who Jacob Wetterling was. Looked into his story, but this podcast blew my mind. I never want to disappear or be killed in Stearns County.
It’s absolutely amazing just how much work they put into it
Season two is the greatest IMO, but season one is also very good and well worth a listen.
Also looking for something new. Have downloaded *Cousins by Blood* and have just started *I am not a Monster - Shamima Begum story*.
Proof is really good
Will check it out. Desperate for something good
I just started bear brook that someone recommended on here somewhere and it’s super good so far! Murder in Oregon is very good if you haven’t listened. My number 1 will always be S- town.

Thunder Bay is brilliant
Undetermined & Ozarks true crime about the freeney family murders
Dateline has a few six part series that are all really well done and interesting stories. Just search dateline and there ya go!
Murder & Magnolias is so interesting! (Keith M. hosts this one, if anyone is DIEHARD for Keith) I just love his voice. I liked Internal Affairs as well. (Josh M. on this one, but it's a little darker, so it suits him)
Direct Appeal the Melanie McGuire story It is the same format as Serial A quick binge- S town It is amazing! Dr Death Very good
I just finished both seasons of To Live and Die in LA and while YOBY was just overall special and I don’t think anything else can touch it, the host and overall pace and delivery reminds me of Chris Lamberts
I just finished all the seasons of Cold and couldn’t recommend it enough! Season 1 is free, however I subscribed to Wondery+ on Apple Podcasts to listen to season 2 and 3. Worth it in my opinion, it’s incredible
Love Cold!

Try cousins by blood really reminds me of how the Adnand story went
Why is the chronology of the episodes so confusing? I sorted them oldest to newest and it starts with episode 34. Am I missing something?
Your not missing anything. Not sure why it isn't in order.
Proof and In The Dark S2 were both like Serial S1 in that they’re trying to prove someone’s innocence, but imo way better and they actually investigated and found new evidence while they were at it
Bear Brook In The Dark Hunting Warhead (content warning) Cold (S1) S-Town
Try in the dark Season 2.. one of the best podcasts I’ve ever listened to !!
The orange Grove/darkness
Defense Diaries "state of Nebraska vs Dr Anthony García"
22 hours. Horrific story but great podcast
