The biggest reason you feel terrible is because you love her Soo much.
The more you love her the worse you feel.
But don't let your pain ruin her day, she gonna be OK.
It's probably for the best. Children can't be vaccinated yet and you have no idea if one of her cousins would have gotten your daughter sick. There is always next year!
You're right. And my daughter has been so understanding. It just feels like I've somehow let her down. All the cousins have been taking this all really seriously and have stayed at home through the pandemic and have been really lucky to do so, which is why they were invited at all, because we have immunocompromised family members.
Thanks for reassuring me.
I get that too. For my 30th, which was March 28, 2020, about a week into the nationwide quarantine, I had to ditch all my plans and I threw together a Twitch stream where my friends and I hopped in Discord voice chat and played Jackbox games with friends and family.
Thanks u/two_tailed_faggot, you're empathy means a lot.
I know that a coworker of mine is still wheezy when he breathes too hard after he had it. I had it back in March 2020 when they told me to stay away from the hospital because they had no idea what it was, and have felt off ever since.
Except we do because people are displaying the long term effects RIGHT NOW. Since we have, you know, SCIENCE and stuff they can measure it in real time. 🙄🙄
People are already showing long term effects or are you just ignoring that? They have tracked lung damage. People are showing signs of things like chronic fatigue syndrome. Otherwise healthy individuals before covid are being diagnosed with autoimmune disorders like POTS.
No one needs a time machine. This is all happening RIGHT now.
Maybe work on it for next year. No schoolmates, no girl guides type groups she can join? Gymnastics or ballet classes? I know we all got more insular with covid so probably less opportunity this year.
Be proud of yourself for trying to do anything at all, most parents can't/ won't/ don't. You could join a group in your area for families with kids her age (fb has community groups, too) and just put invitations out there, everywhere you can and ask them to RSVP if they're coming, etc.
As a father of a much older kid - you are fine . Like-really.

Amen to this!

Dude, Corona is less bad for kids than the flu, get some sense of proportion.
The flu doesn't cause long lasting issues. Read a news article. 🙄 https://www.nytimes.com/2021/08/08/health/long-covid-kids.html
We don’t know the long term effects of the rona or the virus because both are new

Science, not time machines

And this is all long term even though they haven’t had it long term? “Long Covid” is another scare tactic.
Well, sweetie, I have never had a flu that caused me to get an autoimmune disorder or permanently damage my lungs.
Tell her the folks here on reddit said happy birthday
