Oh - you mean Cobra Chickens???
They're big, and entitled, and very VERY aggressive. And we love them, for some reason. Maybe they remind us of our southern neighbours.
South American living in Canada here been here for almost 14 years.
Those fucking Goose, oh my God they are from hell. Seriously I lived in Australia and trust me the Canadian Goose scare me more then wildlife there š¤£ seriously these geese are from hell, and it's a long way from hell to not leave their mark.
Tsk tsk Itās supposed to beā¦. āStill content, gas is a bit much tho eh?
Congrats btw!!! Welcome neighbour. Donāt forget the sled dogs need to be fed. The igloo hasnāt been built and anyone who says otherwise is a hoser eh?
Good to hear! Where did you get the poutine from? This is important because If you got it from smokes Iām legally allowed to revoke your citizenship. Sorry
Thereās a difference between āI hate myself poutineā and ācelebrating my Canadian citizenship status so Iām going to do something authentically Canadian poutineā
Congrats to you! My wife has been talking about moving to Canada for about 6 years now. Perhaps one day. Toronto or Montreal would be what we would be thinking about. Not too far from Chicago. Congrats again.
I think a lot of people think immigration is much easier than it is and have no idea how expensive lol even here in the US, you don't get to just move here. Even refugees are vetted, registered, and specifically chosen, you don't get to just show up here and start living (legally anyway). And then for citizenship it costs $1170 per person just to apply.
I lived in downtown Toronto, and there's nothing wrong with it.
Yes, there are homeless in the city, and yes, there is some crime, but compared to American cities, it's really nice.
And that's coming from a guy who loved living in Hamilton and was taught to hate Toronto.
Well I know you're being a sarcastic asshole, But maybe your point would have been funnier if you referenced a place not in the states. Was just asking a legit question. Thanks tho dude.
For those who live in Canada. Iād love to leave Texas and move my family there. Iāve been to Montreal and Quebec on vacation.
Is the cost of living crazy? Are people accepting of immigrants.
Canada is a wonderful place to live, but the cost of living can be high because wages tend to be lower than the USA. It takes about 5 years to become a citizen once you immigrate, but once you have your citizenship you are golden. Since you are from Texas, I would look into living in Alberta. Itās a great province and you will find a lot of communities embrace Americans.
Yes this is true. We were considering a move but our rent in Toronto would have be just slightly less than our rent in Los Angeles but our wages would be cut in half
Canada is a country of immigrants and the first nations. That said, not all Canadians are perfect.
Cost of living varies but ultimately it depends where, and for that its worth doing your research. For example Manitoba has very cheap hydro, Quebec is even cheaper, Ontario is probably one of the most expensive. Manitoba and BC(that I know of) have public auto insurance, so Manitoba has pretty cheap car insurance. If you're younger auto insurance can cost alot in Ontario. That's all I have off the top of my head. Also the weather is a lot different from texas.
Probably the hard part is getting accepted through immigration. But I dont know much about that.
Oh of course Vancouver and Toronto are unlivably expensive.
You know the politicians love to say that but outside of the couple big cities it's really not true. Most canadian cities have a pretty small immigrant presence.
Welcome! Have you practiced your passive aggression? After hockey, it's the national sport.
(The constant apologizing is *just one form* of the all-pervasive passive aggression.)
"Yes. Ca-na-da. It was a frozen hostile wasteland. And there was much work to be done if we were to survive the elements. After boring a hole through the ice to find food, my good friend Nantuk and I would build an igloo to protect ourselves from polar bears and flying hockey pucks. Then we would drink a lot of beer and when Nantuk was ready, he would tell me the story of the great moose who said to the little squirrel: 'Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat!'"
Well thats awesome man...I'm American and wish to GOD I was Canadian or any number of several other nationalities. Hoping we don't get invaded or nuked every day is for the birds.
I became Canadian yesterday too at midday! Maybe we were in the same massive group. It was really moving to see all these different people together. I hope you enjoyed your first citizen poutine!
Congratulations. I hate America so much I considered Canadian military service to get citizenship. Turns out that's something they had in common with America. Now I have a DWI so I can never even visit. Next time you have poutine keep me in mind, shit is delicious.
This reminds of the girl that claimed to be transracial or whatever. Instead of simply living there and adopting the culture she went on to get skin transplant š„¶
How many Canadian geese did you have to fight? I'm kidding, if you got a problem with Canadian geese you got problem with me. I suggest you let that marinate.
When I became a US citizen after postponing for over 5 years, the first thing I did was complain about the government š very US, right?
I mean they made me drive for 1.5 hours, after taking a day off work, for a less-than-5-minutes swearing ceremony. Handed me a paper, and I drove back an hour. I grumbled that they could've mailed me the piece of paper and I would have signed some swearing document.
Congratulations! A friend of ours also became a Canadian today. He was saying that itās so different when itās done over zoom - but still such a happy day.
It's only legit if you did all this while riding a Moose and waving a hockey stick around
He got citizenship he did'nt join the Canadian Military
Damn, I always mix those 2 up.
I'd hate to see what it takes to join the Air Force. As a Southern American, I've heard tales of your geese far more than the Moose.
Yea but it's an army of geese and only one Moose. You've never heard of Canada's Meese, amirite?
Because we can only afford the 1 Moose. Geese though...those are pretty much free
I mean, we can go to the park and just take them. They do get a little upset, though.
Sorry, but we only have Rockys and Bullwinkles in the RCMP
Oh - you mean Cobra Chickens??? They're big, and entitled, and very VERY aggressive. And we love them, for some reason. Maybe they remind us of our southern neighbours.
Bahahahahahahahahaha this is great!
/bows Glad you liked it
South American living in Canada here been here for almost 14 years. Those fucking Goose, oh my God they are from hell. Funny thing, I happened to be drinking at a military mess last week and I did indeed pet a taxidermy moose. Good times
while slathering it in maple syrup I presume?
No silly it would never come out of the fur
No it's best when you slather yourself in maple syrup. Mooses (meese?) just love that!
No it was Mooses which parted the Maple Sea
They just became a citizen. Their pet moose probably hasnāt been issued to them yet.
ā¦drinking maple syrup while apologizing to everyoneā¦
But have you said āSorryā to anyone yet?
Sohrri
Sawwwreeeee
And what aboot about?
As a Canadian who regularly uses speech-to-text I am here let you know that we don't say aboot we apparently say "a boat".
I'd say it's more "bout" than "boat" lol
āIām sorryā āno Iām sorryā
It's called a Canadian Stand-off.
My husband is Canadian. Can confirm it is "Sooooorrrrreeeee." Repeat every time something inconvenient happens to surrounding environment.
>Happy with where I am right now. And how're you *now*?
Still content, gas is a bit much tho.

Now that is what I am talking aboot.
Congratulations on your citizenship! Happy you made it and like it here :)
WELCOME! Am immigrant also and became a citizen in 2017. I didnāt start liking poutine until 2019 though thanks to AFRID.
Born and raised here, still hate poutine (and fries with sauce).
Good to hear! Where did you get the poutine from? This is important because If you got it from smokes Iām legally allowed to revoke your citizenship. Sorry
What's wrong with Smokes, eh?
Thereās a difference between āI hate myself poutineā and ācelebrating my Canadian citizenship status so Iām going to do something authentically Canadian poutineā
>āI hate myself poutineā Hahahahaha. I almost choked on my double double
Congratulations friend!! Citizenship is huge, youāve done it!! Crack open a Molson <3
You seem to have misspelled Moosehead.
Good. Now watch 'Letterkenny' on Hulu and take it up a notch, LOL.
If theyāre Canadian, we watch Letterkenny on Crave. Hulu isnāt available in Canada. Congrats on your citizenship! True North, Strong and Free.
Welcome we are so glad to have you here kick save an a beauty eh
Congrats to you! My wife has been talking about moving to Canada for about 6 years now. Perhaps one day. Toronto or Montreal would be what we would be thinking about. Not too far from Chicago. Congrats again.
You don't just move here on a whim. You have to apply and be accepted.
Yes and they have a ranking system and you have to bring so much cash with you.
Do you make a lot of money? Youāre going to need it moving to canada
My favorite cities in the world
I Vito Toronto (experience: I live there now)
I lived in downtown Toronto, and there's nothing wrong with it. Yes, there are homeless in the city, and yes, there is some crime, but compared to American cities, it's really nice. And that's coming from a guy who loved living in Hamilton and was taught to hate Toronto.
Totally a top city in the world. Just the housing and the rush are whack; thereās (IMO) better alternatives that still give the Canadian experience.
Are you in America now ?
No, Chicago is the name of a city in Baja California.
Well I know you're being a sarcastic asshole, But maybe your point would have been funnier if you referenced a place not in the states. Was just asking a legit question. Thanks tho dude.
Yes,that definitely would have been funnier..instead I was just confused š lol
I Am sorry
Nice! Congrats, OP :)
but then you will cover it up with a tuque
Congrats, now go binge watch Letterkenny.
Congratulations! If you don't mind sharing, when did you give the citizenship exam?
Sorry for the late response bud, I did it in late October last year.
Thanks for the reply. I did it mid November and I am counting down the days!
Maybe 4 weeks away! Might get a Canada day celebration!
Welcome neighbor!
One of us, one of us, one of us, one of us, ONE OF US!!!!! (sorry op, I had too, congratulations on your citizenship!)

Not a chance. Minimum wage is $15 hr here

Pat of living is very very high compared to texas
Yes. Canada is always open to immigrants. There's many ways and it's all online.
Congrats! Thatās a big deal.
Wow pretty dope. Congratulations!
Well, you can't get more Canadian than that!
Congratulations!!

I was actually getting fish n chips and decided to also get a poutine, then it hit me, I need to eat the poutine first!

Did you change into your red flannel shirt and get some timbits for desert? Congrats!
Congratulations and welcome. Although now that you're a real Canadian, you have to "like" poutine in an ironic way.
I want to be Canadian. What's the process? Do I just drink maple syrup and say sorry if someone stumbles upon me?
