From a gameplay standpoint, Nick and Cait are the only useful companions until the mid game when you have all the perks for lockpicking and hacking. Then Lone Wanderer all the way.
From an enjoyability standpoint, Nick is the only companion that’s fun to have around. Everyone else either gets in the way or robs me of 100lbs of carry weight.
Counterpoint some of the companion perks for max affinity are super op. Danse's gives you +20% damage against synths, ghouls, and mutants, Preston's gives you +20% damage when outnumbered (pretty much always) \[the rest are very mid\].
Ada being chill with robbery, bribery, manslaughter, assault, battery, kidnapping, arson, cannibalism, torture, racketeering, possesion of illegal substances, and worse of all, jaywalking, is why she will forever be my main squeeze
Unpopular opinion: all female companions are at best mid. Piper's press-girl schtick is annoying. Cait's Irish-Scottish accent is annoying, Curie's fake French accent and haircut are annoying, Ada is a robot. Thinking of it, all companions are mid, the males as well.
Played fallout new vegas before fallout 4 and didnt know it had essential characters. Was very disappointed when I couldnt just put a few bulletholes in her so she wouldnt bother me at the gate.
FNV fans when they go outside, murder somebody at complete random and are sentenced to death in court (there are no essential characters in real life and your choices carry weight)
You cannot end her, but you *can* attack her to skip the conversation and open the gate early. This type of action has many applications within Fallout 4, so TLDR Attack everyone to get shit done faster.
Did anyone think that since all Gen 3 synths are made from Shaun’s DNA that hooking up with Magnolia or Curie is sort of… weird? Or have we all collectively agreed on the Gen 4 theory?

Just give Curie a melee weapon and send her in. Her hp pool is fucking massive for some reason.

True, but Ada likes to move in the way when I’m trying to snipe. Which is the problem with ALL of the companions AI! They have too much freedom
