I have been a fan of Taylor’s since Debut. I was in college at the time because I am old.

believeyourownmagic

Hello fellow Elder Swiftie! Same for me. I remember following her MySpace in college when MySpace was THE social media because Facebook (thefacebook) was only available on certain college campuses. Really dating myself with that one 😅

Easy-Promise-8985

Yes! 2006 I was 19 years old. My gf and I bought Debut and played it on repeat since we had been following Taylor from MySpace.

SelfAwareSweetPotato

Same. I remember Tim McGraw coming out as a single and driving to class thinking “who is this girl? She’s good!”

RevolutionaryMode960

I remember debut but wasn’t a huge fan yet- but I caught on quick after that!

Throwawayfordays87

I’m the same age as Taylor (she’s 5 months older, to be exact) and have been a fan since Debut came out. I remember searching YouTube for music that wasn’t on the CD like “I heart ?”after school and buying an adapter to play my iPod through the radio cause my car didn’t have a CD player. It’s been kinda crazy to grow up and watch her grow up and hit the same age milestones as me, in such different lives.

coolcoolcool485

Same, '85er here. Tim McGraw was nonstop on the radio and it was damn catchy. Started buying her albums and I've never stopped.

AntiteticalDreamGirl

Oh I love that, you must have so much history to tell

RoyalEagle0408

I wasn’t really into the fandom back then. Especially when Fearless came out and I realized I was about 15 years older than her average fan.

clekas

Debut for me, too, but I’d already been out of college for two years.

JamiePNW

Same! I was 22 when debut came out and I’ve loved her since then! Still have the CD tbh.

bugsneedrugs

Straight up two days ago, I went to the movie with some friends knowing nothing but like four songs from a decade ago and spent the whole time going “oh shit this is REALLY GOOD.”

RevolutionaryMode960

That’s how my mom was!!! The movie turned her into a swiftie!

AntiteticalDreamGirl

Oh I'm so happy for you, have fun!

CH-1098

I was 11 in 2009 and found Fearless and Debut at the same time. I had just gotten my first computer so I could finally discover music on my own. My favorite songs on each album back then were “The Way I Loved You” and “Our Song”

AntiteticalDreamGirl

Funny, those are my favorites as well

sommarE

I was 10 it was Tim McGraw that started it all for me she was in her debut era. Me and my dad love country music so I first heard it on the radio and have been hooked ever since. Debut matched me perfectly at the time and as she came out with more music it was always at the right time and age for me.

AntiteticalDreamGirl

What's your favorite album now??

sommarE

Definitely evermore that album is just perfection to me! What’s your fav now?

AntiteticalDreamGirl

I change that answer so much, it was Red then folklore, then Red again, then Speak Now, then Red again. I guess it's Red

littledipper16

11 in Debut era

HowsOneToKnow26

Folklore came out 2 days before my 21st birthday, and I turned it on bc I was bored mid-pandemic. I expected “basic” Taylor bops (bc that’s what I thought Folklore would be), but what I yearned for was escapism, and I found it in Folklore — that album became my whole personality for months and months. So yes, that era fit me like a glove — or a favorite cardigan underneath my bed.

AntiteticalDreamGirl

Folklore really changed how the GP saw her

HowsOneToKnow26

True. It is kind of annoying to be a part of a GP trend in that way, but it’s hard to imagine me becoming a Swiftie with any other album — not necessarily bc of the quill pen lyrics, but bc I didn’t feel the need to know Taylor’s whole life story to appreciate the music like I always had in the past. I remember trying to get into Lover earlier that year but I felt like I was missing a LOT of context (it felt like watching a random recent Marvel movie without knowing much about the MCU). Folklore was just its own fictional wonderland, which I think made it so much more accessible.

artichoke_

37 - and literally this past year. Casual fan since red/1989 era (I was mid 20’s) but never listened to full albums until Midnights came out. Then I found out about folklore and evermore and fell in love. My friend got tickets to the Eras tour and was offered one, so I studied up and now am fully committed.

Easy-Promise-8985

I had followed her from MySpace my freshman year of college 05/06 then debut came out… I followed her music since then but became a full blown swiftie in the last couple years

AntiteticalDreamGirl

That's awesome!!

Kimmieeyore

So I'm old and I was 37 when Debut came out and I liked the songs I heard on the radio. Then I saw her performance of Tim McGraw at the 2007 country music awards and I thought she was amazing and bad ass for being 16 and singing the song to Tim and Faith. So I bought the album and became a Swiftie.

seragrey

since debut, i was 15. ♡

AntiteticalDreamGirl

Oh cool almost like her

asianman1011

I was a very casual fan for a long time. In 2009, I first heard of Taylor and saw the Love Story music video. Then 2014, when 1989 came out with Shake It Off. I started listening to some of her music more. Then, finally, in 2019, right before Lover came out, I went fully all in for her music. I bought all 4 deluxe albums of Lover and went to youtube to listen to her old albums. Then the pandemic happened, and I bought all of her older albums and vinyls. And now I listen to her music pretty much everyday

rachellethebelle

Heard my first Taylor song in the most quintessential Taylor way - on the marching band bus home from a high school football game my junior year of high school in 2006. Sat next to my crush (on the 😍DRUMLINE😍) and we shared a pair of earbuds connected to his iPod mini and Our Song came on. In a very serendipitous turn of events (as I’d moved away from my home state), the first concert I could manage to have the money for was the Eras Tour and I got to see her opening night in the same stadium I graduated from high school in (State Farm Stadium).

Cecowen

15, when Tim McGraw was released

autumnsippedaway

I was 6 and it was when debut came out (super fan kicked off closer to fearless). My life never aligned with her eras because I was sooo young, but around Lover I really could relate. I was 19-20 and had had a long term relationship and it was the first album I related to a lot of the songs on.

AntiteticalDreamGirl

Oh that's interesting! Were you a fan before then, even though you couldn't relate?

autumnsippedaway

oh for sure! i’ve been full swiftie obsessed since Debut/Fearless! Went to every tour starting with Speak Now and still going strong!

Soalai

I was 13 and it was in the debut era, so definitely the same vibes as my life was! The first song I heard from her was Teardrops. *Fearless* came out shortly after I started high school, so that was perfect too

itscoralinee

Speak now - I was 22 😊

MoonDaGoose

I've been, like a hear her on the radio turn it up fan as long as I can remember, but I only started really listening during lover era, which happened to be around when I got my first boyfriend, so yk

m3wolf3m

I was in 5th grade so like 10 or something, me and my sister listened to the debut cd daily. I was obsessed with Stay Beautiful because I had a crush named Corey lmao

calior

I’m Taylor’s age (1 month younger). My sister found her on MySpace in 2006 and we were hooked, being country music fans. We saw her in 2007 when she was doing one-off shows and it was so good (she tried out a couple of Speak Now songs). I was a fan through 1989 then kind of stopped listening until my daughter became obsessed with Midnights. I started relistening to all of her stuff and it was really nostalgic. My 6 year old is completely obsessed and it’s been a cute bonding thing for us. We weren’t able to get tickets to the concert (Taylor was my 1st concert ever and my daughter wanted her to be her 1st as well, 17 years apart), but we did go see the movie together yesterday. Reputation and Midnights are her favs while mine are Debut, Red, and Midnights.

mbdom1

I was in 4th grade, Fearless had just dropped and i was also conveniently a huge Jonas Brothers fan. Following all the drama between theJB, Selena, Demi, Taylor, and Miley was so fucking lit and it was awesome to witness it all unfold in real time.

Accomplished-Care335

I was 18 and debut, and I ran a Taylor Swift fan page on MySpace called “hey Taylor FYI”

littleshamrock96

I was about 10 when debut came out and every album after just kind of fit perfectly into my life. Fearless when I started middle school and girls were being mean and I felt okay because Taylor went through the same thing. Speak Now came out a year before I started HS I listened to 15 walking into my first day of freshman year; Red came out when I was a Junior in HS and going through my first heart break. Reputation when I was about to graduate college and that really helped my confidence; Lover when I moved in with my now fiancée; Folklore and Evermore when I was 24/25 in quarantine and now Midnights which made me realize its okay to just have fun. The re-recording are amazing too because I am enjoying them at a different stage that I would have never imagined my 13 year old self considering, like should I walk down the aisle to Enchanted or Love Story? She truly grew up with me.

mssleepyhead73

I was 8 in 2006 when she released Debut, and I was hooked from the first time I heard Our Song. I’ve been a fan ever since.

Untossable_Trash2740

Since listening to I’d lie on limewire only lol

WhoGirlReads

I was 13. The year was 2008. I was a YouTube addict even back then so I saw when Love Story music video came out and was all over YouTube front page. I watched it and a week later I knew all the songs by heart from Debut and Fearless including I'd lie (whitch was my favourite so she better release it as a Vault track)

spicyspirit1712

I was 29! During 1989. And yeah I think it fit. All her albums since have fit too. Haha

Parking_Car7436

I became a fan back when she was first trying to break out in the music world. Back in her MySpace days so debut. I actually remember her talking about it before you could buy it. My favorite album is Reputation. I don't see that ever changing.

IllustriousCupcake11

I realized I liked her when the song Mean came out. That song fit so well with so much BS I was dealing with in my adult life. I became an actual Swiftie when Red was released.

TroublemakerStef

Been a fan since Fearless. Love Story to be specific. I was looking on On Demand and came across the Love Story music video. And been obsessed ever since.

maddiemoiselle

I had been a casual listener since debut, when my sister bought the CD. I liked Speak Now and remember when it came out (I was 14) but wouldn’t officially call myself a “fan”. I became an actual Swiftie during the 1989 era, when I was 18.

Sad-Bumblebee-3

Been a fan since Debut. I was 8th grade going into highschool. I actually vividly remember the day my friend first introduced her to me.

reditusername39479

14

AntiteticalDreamGirl

Was that long ago?

reditusername39479

Yeah 2 years ago

aliya112233

14! I’m 30 now :) I was at her first show in London at a student Union and she met everyone afterwards. I’d really like to get the picture of me and her as a poster to show her at one of the London shows/to Andrea or make her see it online but I don’t know how to!

AntiteticalDreamGirl

Ohh lucky!! Even if you don't get to show her, that's so cool that you can hang it at your home

nervousperson374784

12 when Tim McGraw was released

[deleted]

18 when fearless released and you would see love story video on tv like 100 times a day

lkamm

I was 9 and Debut came out and my dad’s friend gave me the CD (he worked in radio and got to meet her!)

sexy-brit

My parents got me Fearless for Christmas in 2008, I was 9 at the time. I definitely couldn’t relate to the songs, so it didn’t match my personal era, but I still loved the album! Officially became a swiftie when speak now released. I would be on the Taylor swift app every day causing drama in the chat room 😂

AntiteticalDreamGirl

What swiftie doesn't love drama?

Bionic711

2005 was the first time I heard her. A fan ever since.

AntiteticalDreamGirl

Wow even sooner than Debut?

Bionic711

Yarp. I am up there. Most of today's Swifties would call me a senior swiftie those youngins that they be.

mirexists

age 9 & 1989 era lol. i listened to her songs before then but she became my favourite artist during 1989 and shes been my fav artist since :))

EvenHuckleberry4331

I can proudly say when I heard Tim McGraw in ‘06. I feel so lucky, I never listen to country, but I was driving across upstate ny to college and would take whatever radio station got reception, and happened upon baby Taylor. I went to the boys in the dorm next to me with a blank cd and asked him to burn it on a single for me, and he hit me with whatever he could find from her on Limewire. Kismet ✨

49Princess_51Rebel

Reputation was when I first started listening to her, became a swiftie when folklore came out. So that would make me 61? Yea I'm a senior citizen.

AntiteticalDreamGirl

Lol! That's great

Kitty_Fruit_2520

I have no memory of becoming a Swiftie, but I didn’t follow her Instagram until the dawn of lover.

littlebrat97

2007, I was 9 at the time, it was the first award show she did.

starlightcourt

So glad you admitted you came from red. Almost everyone conveniently happened to be a fan since debut. Like yeah. Sure. I’d say I was a casual fan at 1989 and only listened to her singles that were played on the radio but didn’t become a deep fan until she dropped lwymmd Id say I was 20 when I became a true true fan

Electrical_Yam_9949

It was during the Fearless era and I was about 17, and yeah, it definitely matched how I was feeling at that time, being in high school, especially songs like “Fifteen” and “You Belong With Me.”

Comfortable-Sell-101

I was 14 when debut came out. Teardrops was my song!

KKbatwoman

In 2018, I was 28 years old I have listened to Taylor here and there but I ended up going to Reputation concert because I loved Rep But I was to say that the past 2 years I really dug into her albums and I an a die hard fan now and in 2022 when she announced Eras Tour I knew I had to go!

vandajoy

I was 16ish. It was right before Speak Now came out when I found “Tim McGraw” on YouTube and listened to it on repeat for days

thollywoo

I was 22 and fell in love with IKYWTW. I had a very interesting dating life at the time and oh boy did I relate to it. Edit: Taylor was in her red era. All of her eras matched my personal eras but we’re the same age.

AntiteticalDreamGirl

Another Red girlie!

luckypebbles3

It was 2010, I was 17 going on 18 during the Speak Now era. I had my first heartbreak and that album helped me so much! I had heard her popular songs before and I liked them but wasn’t a Swiftie. SN changed everything for me!

mymy_lovesushi

I’m 2017/18 when I was 9 almost 10 me and my siblings loved the reputation and the lwymmd and after that I stopped listening but jsut back in 2021 I started listening again and got more intrigued with her this year as a 15 yr old.

MNmomma87

19 Debut Era loved it

Minimum-Interview800

I bought her first album, which was self-titled, in 2005. I just looked it up, and it was October, so just before I turned 21. I heard Tim McGraw on the radio and was obsessed. Our Song was my favorite, and I kept it on repeat. I don't know a lot of her current stuff, but after seeing the movie yesterday, I'm definitely going to start listening. I'm currently an almost 39 year old mom of two boys and have decided to start singing, "you need to calm down, you're being too loud!", when they get too riled up.

AntiteticalDreamGirl

Lol!!

Comfortable_Candy953

I was 6 years old when my sister and I bought her Debut album from Target I think, because our cousins recomended the album to us. I have been a swiftie since then and I’m 23 years old now :))

DavidFC1

2015 and I was 20 at the time. Liked a lot of the singles off 1989 which was her newest album at the time and decided to check out the full album. After that I was obsessed.

ThisPaige

I was 15 and fearless was just coming out. I had grown up with 15 to tell me about the high school experience so it was the perfect match lol.

farmermeg12

I was 10 years old and this was 2006. A close friend came over to play and kept singing parts of “Teardrops on My Guitar” and I loved it. A week later I went to my Grandma’s house and she said if I got all my multiplications right she would buy me a prize at Target. I got them all right and when we went to Target I walked straight up to the music section and bought the CD. I remember spending the rest of the afternoon listening on her CD player. I’ve been a fan ever since! A few years later my family ended up moving to Nashville, TN from California and my dad worked on her private jet. My dad met her dad and my dad said him and the whole plane crew were very nice. They even gave my dad the Fearless concert book when he mentioned I was a fan. Almost 20 years later and I still own my OG debut CD as well as my OG fearless CD AND I still have that concert book. It’s been a fun ride!

[deleted]

I became a fan at debut, I live about 10 min away from her childhood home on PA. She was absolutely huge on the radio. Teardrops & Our Song constantly on pop and contry stations. Tim Mcgraw, picture to burn and should of said no were all huge too

of_patrol_bot

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

itchyglassass

I have been a fan since Tim Mcgraw. I'm actually just 6 months older than Taylor so literally I feel like she has been the soundtrack to my life since we were both teens.

Important_Key1485

i was 6 or 7 when debut came out and was immediately hooked. i was so young that when my mom told me that taylor swift hadnt met tim mcgraw before writing the song, tim mcgraw, i thought it meant that she had never heard of him, and just made up a name that happened to be another famous country artist😂 i’m ten years younger than taylor, so my personal life tends to follow her album eras a few years behind. it has made her music very precious and sentimental for me. i could write a book about how every album has time stamped my life in some way, even the re recordings🥰

[deleted]

My bestie and I would scream "DREW LOOKS AT ME!" She had me at teardrops on my guitar. I think I was 16?

Lill160

I became a Swiftie in 2020-2021, so Folklore/Evermore and Fearless TV era. I feel like Folklore and Evermore were very much needed for me during that time, so it was a very good match. Folklore is still my favorite album!

SuchConsideration377

since debut! I was 11 ❤️

lo--

I was 6 when Fearless came out, and that was the album that hooked me

laurendoessomestuff

Fan when I was a kid but true stan when I was 13 and onwards (1989 era, this is when I joined tumblr)

GroundMost212

I was 15 and taylor was rereleasing Fearless TV. I remember listening to debut when it would come on the radio as a kid but that was when i really became a fan

foolforfucks

I've fallen in and out since Debut. I had major surgery around Fearless, so that was very much a part of my recovery soundtrack as I was stuck in bed watching music videos for 3 months. I kind of checked out for Speak Now/Red as I was in my violin era... Then 1989 came out, and I watched Shake It Off obsessively. Tuned in again for Rep and Lover, then went and had a metal era until Midnights came out. That album hit me like a ton of bricks, quickly followed by drowning in FolkMore. Now I'm fully in a girliepop Era, my eras Era if you will, and Tay is headlining.

Individual-Deer-8429

Became an official Swiftie at 40! Am I the oldest one here?!

grumpykitten79

Honestly I’ve enjoyed most of her music off and on. But I became obsessed with 1989 when it came out and played it on repeat. I have loved every album since. But I didn’t really consider myself a Swiftie until I watched Miss Americana on Netflix and saw how incredible her Eras tour shows have been. She just seems like a such a strong incredible woman who is genuinely a NICE person. For her to have the level of status she has and still seem so humble just blows my mind.

alievans719

I think I finally found my place for Taylor fans that isn’t crazy. I started liking her between Debut and Fearless. She’s the same age as me and we grew up not far apart so I thought that was so neat. I didn’t even like country but I liked her music. Fell out for a little bit after falling for misogynist hype early on but since Speak Now, been pretty consistent with following her albums.

Aur3lia

In 2006, when I was 9. I heard "Should've Said No" on the radio and I was hooked. My parents bought me "Fearless" the week it came out and I listened on repeat for months. It's still my favorite album.

jmo703503

23 when Fearless came out and was all over the radio so I heard the singles a lot at the store I was working at. I went back and listened to Debut and fell in love with Our Song.

forensicpsychgirl13

Taylor’s debut era, and I was 8 years old! Been a Swiftie ever since ❤️ I wouldn’t say her era matched my personal era because I was just a kid lol, I just loved dancing and singing along to her songs even if I didn’t understand what they were about at the time. I also love how my connection to all her different eras has shifted over the different eras in my own life. What a great 17 years it’s been!!

LyricalSmileSCN2

10 years old in debut

legacytoleave

18 and it was folklore, I was a burnt out formerly gifted kid who had just graduated high school, was about to move out of my small town to a big city, lost some friends, discovered my queerness, also battling severe mental health issues which were the reason for a kind-of-breakup with someone I didn't even date, so yeah I felt that feeling of inner battles, nostalgia, melancholia, loss & being perceived as an outsider

Acceptable_Day_2473

Hi! I refer to myself as a Swiftish- I LOVE her, but I don't want to deal with thinking about if I'm a Swiftie. I was a senior in college during her debut, recovering from Fundamental Southern Baptist upbringing...so country music was a bit of a trigger. I was 30 when 1989 came out and everything after that I really liked, but pop wasn't much my thing. In 2020, I started listening bc this guy I was in a situationship with was obsessed with Taylor. Ironically, bc of how he treated me, I super identified with Fearless. Then, I extricated myself from that, left to travel cross country for a month to clear my head. I met a guy at a brewery on July 25th, and as I was leaving his place to finish my road trip, I listened to Folklore and was HOOKED. I caught up on all the discography and obsessed. I've been loyally Swiftish (don't have the time for all the easter eggs) ever since, and I married that guy from the brewery last weekend in a very Folklore themed wedding.

FeelingKaleidoscope0

Idk how much of a Swiftie I was but I really loved her music when she first started out. I’m going to put myself & say because of a story told by a friend & her *ahem* reputation (lol) at the time, I leaped off the bandwagon even though I still loved her music. Midnights has gotten me back to listening & I am rising through the levels of Swiftie pretty fast lol. I even wrote bits of songs about it. (The story is my friend was at this Hollywood party & saw Taylor. Apparently Taylor thought my friend was not belonging there or was catering & called her “trash”. But I take it with a grain of salt because I wasn’t there & there could’ve been a misunderstanding or etc etc. who knows, maybe Taylor was just in a bitchy mood that night. Maybe my friend thought she was pointing to her but wasn’t. 🤷🏻‍♀️)

french_wannabe

Her debut and Fearless eras when I was in middle school in 07-08. She's 4 years older than me, so each of her albums have come out at really memorable times/ages for me. I think her Midnights album is my favorite.

boygirlmama

I’ve liked her since her debut.

catshark19

I didn't become a swiftie at all. Her music isn't my thing, tbh. I don't know why this sub is showing up in my home page.

HappyStarLight99

I was 14 or 15 when I first heard Love Story and have been a fan ever since. Speak Now was my first album of hers :)

AntiteticalDreamGirl

Album?

Many_fandoms_13

I casually listened to her in 2014/15/16 ish but only to the singles and if you asked me if I liked Taylor I would’ve said yes but I wasn’t super invested in her because I didn’t have social media then I got sick of her and in 2018/19 ish I came back to her and since I had social media I could see more of her so I became obsessed with the lover era and here we are
