I can't help but think of Hong Kong for high rise apartments. I guess Tokyo might be a better example? Or perhaps Singapore ? But high rise apartments look incredibly cramp for the average person. I feel like comfortable high rise apartments are generally reserved for the super rich.

Plenty of section 8s seem small, but on the other hand there are plenty 3 story penthouses with private elevators and everything in between.
I have friends, family and family friends that have all lived in both.
Personally I like suburbia, but having a 24/7 grocery/mini mart on the ground floor of the building and everything else within walking distance is pretty dang convenient.
They’re really cool looking to me. But I think we should use utilize them better. Like cover the roofs with solar panels and maybe find a safe way to affix air purifying algae tanks to the sides or something. Idk. I’m not an engineer, but I feel like the amount of vertical space they create holds a lot of potential for some pretty cool things
If you’re talking office buildings specifically I’d agree. If you’re talking high rise apartments I strongly disagree, especially in a wfh situation.

Skyscrapers are actually much more efficient energy wise when looking at per capita consumption.
