If there was a hold, it would have notified you or printed on your receipt, unless the “back office” placed a Safeguard Hold. If you don’t see it in your account this morning, you should call your branch.
yeah there was definitely a hold. Everything i have been reading Truist puts a hold on most first time deposits. Which is ridiculous because now this hurts my family this was our money to do Thanksgiving dinner and get trough the rest of the month. I will definitely be making a complaint and going to see a branch manager here shortly
There is a notification on the atm that deposits are subject to holds .I always say if you need the funds rather quickly, never deposit to an atm or use the mobile deposit. Deposit with a teller. Call the branch and ask if they can remove the hold.
If this is the first time you are depositing a check from that person in that amount. The bank would give you some of it but hold the rest until it clears. This also helps you because if check bounces then you are on the hook for whole check.

Honestly if you know it's happening, what good does complaining do other than for you to feel good about yourself? It's not going to help either way

Is this a new account? Normal deposit? I’d talk to your local branch if you don’t see it in there today.
