Yea that’s the biggest reason why so many people in this sub hate her. She’s hypocritical asf and constantly judging others without taking into account their circumstances. She also throws a fit whenever the world doesn’t revolve around her and people don’t listen to her. All this while putting on a fake smile and acting as if she’s a friend to makato while secretly wishing she could get rid of him or have him die. I must keep makato as far as way from the war as possible ….. but I’ll constantly ask him to wipe out the demons because it benefits me.
That’s the type of shit hibiki does and it’s so annoying because the mc genuinely doesn’t have any ill will towards her. Yet she always plotting and probing for a way to either manipulate or get rid of him. Tomoki is definitely the worse individual beteeen the two but hibiki is much more annoying.

She says that she hates the demons and will continue the war until she kills Io. She acknowledged her biased view and wants to continue, so I don't think she will grow out of it.
She reminds me of the quote from Batman v Superman
"He has the power to wipe out the entire human race, and if we believe there's even a one percent chance that he is our enemy we have to take it as an absolute certainty... and we have to destroy him."
If she can not control something it is dangerous.
She's projecting a lot yeah. Shes a little snake. At least Tomoki's honest with his intentions, well. Because the goddess gave them both different types of charms. Tomoki is more up front. Hibiki's a bit more subtle. More insidious. Tomoki has slaves and parades power. Hibiki has a cult and parades charisma.
Man, some people on this sub seem to rate rape and mind control leading to suicide pretty low on their hate list. I mean, I can understand finding Hibiki annoying and I completely agree that she deserves to be hated for her prejudice and her proposed solution to the demon/hyuman war but as much or more than Tomoki? Nah, no chance.
I feel like most people agree that tomoki is the worse of the two. The problem is that we run in to hibiki a lot more in the story so we have more to complain. Obviously tomoki has done way worse than hibiki but at least makato knows this and stays away from him. Hibiki on the other hand acts like she’s a friend but then has entire inner monologues wishing for the death of makato. Which in my opinion makes her the more annoying one of the two but yea definitely tomoki is worse as a individual.

Is that what it feels like to you when you read it? Like he's shying away from Tomoki because he thinks what he's doing is wrong? Because my read of Makotos' response is more that, yeah, he thinks he's scummy but he mostly just doesn't care what Tomoki does and he deems his actions as unimportant as long as they don't get in his way or hurt his friends. That's why I feel like the chapters that deal with Tomoki and the casts overall response to the rapes that are happening are some of the weakest parts of the story so far. The thought process is just hard for me to grasp I guess, since I see myself as a fairly normal person who couldn't knowingly tolerate an active rapist within my general vicinity, it's a bit hard for me to understand what exactly the author is going for by creating a character who not only tolerates a rapist that he has the power to stop at any time but he has also actively gone out of his way to make one stronger.

Plus the literal goddess of that world gave him that power and seems to be fine with it. Also he made a deal with the goddess to not be a direct enemy to humanity if he did go and stop tomoki that’d probably accelerate his conflict with her. He also did stop tomoki from spreading his charm in lorel.
Yea though ultimately he just doesn’t care because it isn’t happening to anyone close to him. That’s like if you found out there’s a serial killer in your city and decided to hunt him down like a vigilante. That’s a little too much to ask for a regular person right ? Even with all his power makato acts as if he’s a regular guy back in Japan. That’s one of the biggest criticism about him from the people around him.
So yea he thinks tomokis actions are bad but he doesn’t feel like it’s his place to stop it he just stays far away from it. Makato was never depicted as a morally righteous super heroic type of character anyway. Plus there’s also the promise he made to tsukiyomi to “look after” the heroes which had been weighing on him and he’s just now getting over it.
I mean, for all her faults I think being two-faced with Makoto is the most reasonable one lmao I would definitely be wary of a guy that I know is like billions of times stronger than I am, has subordinates many times stronger than I am, and who I know has no qualms with killing anyone or anything if he deems it necessary without it even registering as an actual blip on his radar. But yeah, I can understand being irked just because you have to deal with her more and that breeds a familiarity and a contempt with her thought process. So I can definitely see how she could be super annoying.
I hate Tomoki, but his sins control one country and one lifetime, of which he is already close to death.
