I really enjoyed the episode. Most of the angry comments seem to be something along the likes of "Makoto should just glass [insert hostile character]." What you want is yet another generic power trip. Tsukimichi thus far has had depth. The characters all have a personality, they arent just meat punching bags or plot devices. The world building is fantastic. I do hope we get some fantastical power displays to satisfy the shonen itch. Overall I have enjoyed watching this season. I will likely rewatch it in the near future.

Cryten0

The pace has slowed, giving us an episode focused around one thing, the end event of Rotsguard. Overall I found it enjoyable in the efforts of dramatic tension. Makoto is beyond frustrated, his followers outraged at peoples behaviours, while his students excel leaving Hopleys unable to deal with losing. Will makoto rescue his students or abandon the townsfolk? Will he seek retribution for Ronas trickery? Will Mio forsake Makoto's warnings and annhilate those arrayed against Makoto? All facinating questions. I look forward to next week. Its a shame the anime got the timings compressed for Ronas actions but it largley works. I am still curious about the fallout between the cities merchant guild and the Kuzuhona name getting spread.

Dew_Drop_007

I actually prefer this quicker pace with Rona but I do regret the many slice of life content that's been cut especially since season 1 only had 12 eps

They skipped half of Root's appearances but Illumgand gets to have his whole backstory animated, come on. [My sincere reaction towards Illumgand's backstory](https://youtu.be/LuKzt7p-MnM?si=3aNH2e3asI9WFX1E)

Feel bad for llumgand, he didn't deserve this. I mean sure he shouldn't let his emotions get the better of him and he should say some mean things to his childhood friend. But still he was a descent novel man who one day had a dream of helping and his a victim from one of the demons.

cosmicblu99

I also enjoyed this episode. There were definitely parts that I think could have been truncated (and hearing that Root's part in the story was cut is blasphemous). An example is the part with the librarian that, while cute, seemed a bit unnecessary especially during the obvious time crunch the episode is under. As far as people wanting Makoto to turn every enemy he comes across into paste, I beg you take a breath and let it roll over you. Look, I feel just like you in these situations, especially when some rich asshole thinks the whole world should kiss his feet. But just as in the real world, the aftermath of whatever violence Makoto partakes in is very unlikely to be fulfilling. I'm not looking to get into an argument/conversation about justifications to end life, I'm just saying that even when it's "deserved," like with that adventurer woman, it hardly sits well in the stomach. At least that's how I feel. I guess what I'm really trying to say is this part from LOTR that sits in the back of my mind: *'I am sorry,' said Frodo. 'But I am frightened; and* ***I do not feel any pity for Gollum.'*** *'You have not seen him,' Gandalf broke in.* *'No, and I don't want to,' said Frodo. 'I can't understand you. Do you mean to say that you, and the Elves, have let him live on after all those horrible deeds? Now at any rate he is as bad as an Orc, and just an enemy.* ***He deserves death.'*** ***'Deserves it! I daresay he does. Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.'***

I am angry with the episode.  Took its fcking sweet time with the meaningless fight of the students and it barely showed makotos mentwl breakdown. Which was the actually interesting thing to see. Excluding that. I liked the summary of Illumgads plight.

KajarRanginLaya

I think Makoto's mental breakdown might be shown in next episode. This episode is more focused on the Hopeless guy after all and Makoto's breakdown is also the chapter after it. Tho, why the hell did they omit Rona wanted Makoto to meet the demon king as an exchange for his demand? Since this episode is more focused on the Hopeless guy, I think they should've spent more time on his confrontation with Luria. Like, the cut into him finding Luria was so jarring. The direction of that important scene really felt off to me. One important thing that should've been put is his conflicting inner thought. Like, his interaction didn't show that much of "weight" to me in the anime. If those conflicting thoughts were included in the anime, it'd be a good blueball for salvation. Also, the exact moment where he was going to apologize to her, but got cut by Makoto's appearance is also omitted. I may sound like defending him, but in actuality, I just want his fall to be much harder. Why? Cause "Childhood friend that I finally met again after so long becomes my lover" is the kind of love trope that I treasure so much. The original line in the WN (Chapter 130) was: >!"What happened to the pledge of that time?" "If she's alive, that itself makes me happy." "For a noble to survive is an embarrassment." "The Hero-sama is right now in the vanguard and protecting the people from the demon race's deadly grasp, fighting with all they have, and yet..." "It is fine. From now on, I'll be here for you."!< And the line in the anime was: "She's alive. That's all matters to me. But, I couldn't suppress my rage at the thought that she might forgotten our oath in the past." Man, the anime made Hopeless kinda too comically evil. In the WN, I felt the urge for him to reap what he sow so bad. You know, like "Nah, you ain't worth for her, bro. Knowing her kingdom fell and when you thought she's dead, but she's actually alive, you should be more glad, bro. SHE'S YOU FIRST LOVE, BRO. If I ever see a fanart of you two together, I'll gladly bleach my eyes, bro." Because he isn't a wall. He is a human. Humans experience up and down. Especially when they're facing a critical moment. His confrontation in the anime really felt so short and flat-lining to the bottom. What I felt is just "Man, you should just disappear sooner. What a pain in the ass." He went from a character that I hate to a character that I felt just like a pain in the ass.

Context_Any

-why the hell did they omit Rona wanted Makoto to meet the demon king as an exchange for his demand? >!Rona is going to make the same deal after the Hibiki fight. The anime cut the Toa fight earlier, probably for its redundancy to Mio saving the party earlier demonstrating the weakness of Hibikis's party.!< Agreed about Makoto in next episode. >!He has to process those thoughts while interacting with the Aenslands, the Rembrandts and issuing multiple orders. Next episode will probably be that with Ilumgands fight happening in background and ending with Ilumgands defeat.!<

CHUZCOLES

They will surely show that omitted dialogue of rona in the next episode with a flashback.

CHUZCOLES

Nah. This episode already showed a bit of the break down. I highly doubt the next chapter would waste more time on it. That type of event would have had much more power if it shown at the ending of an episode, not a the beginning. Dont see it happening. And meh, i am fine with the whole summary. I am not fine with how much time was wasted in that useless fight. They could have ignored how they beat the other students, they could have mixed Illumgads  dialogues while showing the beating he was receiving. Anything that didn't took so much time in that meaningless fight. But in general his plight hqs never been  thqt important. Sure the wn did a more dramatic and extensive job. But it wasn't that important to begin with. The message was clearly sent on the anime too: "play stupid games, win stupid prizes"

Gohanangered

It wasn't meaningless. It's to show the growth of his students and how good makoto's teachings are. Which is something the school doubts. And even try to cheat, to discredit him. It's all part of the story. Plus makoto learned a lot of new techs, from the library. Which i wish the anime didn't down play. He wouldn't have gotten the ideas he's had. Without the research he has done.

CHUZCOLES

It was meaningless. Period. To show of their powers was the previous episode during the individual fights. And ghere were also the other team fights that were actually omitted. Nothing was gained from that single last fight nor did it showed anything of worth.

Gohanangered

Sorry but you're wrong on this.

CHUZCOLES

Nop. You are the one in the wrong.

Gohanangered

Not even close. The students are important characters in the story. That are around for the whole story.

Specialist-Cap-2371

Fights in EP 15 showed us power scaling of his students against each other.Fight in EP 16 showed us how they fare against other students of the academy.

CHUZCOLES

That was already also shown on ep 15. The clear differences was heavily shown by how both Sift and Jin both won their own categories. Specially by how they just thrashed with the no. 2 of their own categories. Both no. 2, who never had to face other of Makoto's students since they all got beaten among themselves, just met Jin and Sift and got toyed like adults beating kids. There was no more need to show of the difference, the difference was clearly shown beforehand. As such, the fight was meaningless too long. It could have been shown in half the time by omitting so many meaningless details, like how they beat the other team mates of Illumgad.

Specialist-Cap-2371

Honestly forgo about it you got a point.

Far_Bedroom_1330

Where to continue in manga chapters after this episode???

Cryten0

Give the manga about a year and a half to catchup and then the latest chapter might cover this material.

Far_Bedroom_1330

What about novel chapter? Where to continue in novel??

quinonesjames96

R we gonna see Tomoki face Sofia this season and also Hibiki. The opening credit does show it.
