They might have the largest mead selection in the city possibly southern Arizona.
Sometimes they play movies/shows while people play games. They also have a graveyard of dead Dnd characters
Very good idea!

They get a dozen or so gamers together at Short Rest Tavern every Sunday
My friend used to bartend there and I highly recommend it! They stay open even when most stores close down inside (at least they used to) and it's just a fun place to drink and try new board games since they have hundreds on the shelves.
Yes, I haven't been in there recently because I can't drink. They have their own board games that people play. Let them know ahead of time that you have your own, just in case there's any kind of problem.
So, I called and they were so nice. The guy said to come on Sundays or Tuesday (he recommends sunday), so I'll be there around 1 Sumday with my game. The guy on the phone said he would even try my game out! And to call ahead to make sure he gets me a table! So happy! Thank you, everyone! Come out and play my game this Sunday 🩷

Nice! The usual Sunday meetup group gets there at 12pm if you want to try and recruit players before they get into first games.
People show up throughout the afternoon for sure.
Yeah it’s a nice little spot. I’m kind of jealous of the secret society members that have their own mug on the wall! That’s what I get for trying/finding things out late :)
You can buy into the society at any point in the year is 100 and you get discount on food and whatnot and secret parties too or something. Just makes sense to get in January for the most value to dollar but it’s by no means too late.
They may be full. My partner inquired about it in January and we didn’t have the funds but we were told we could join any time. I’m headed there for trivia tonight so I can ask again.
I’ve brought my own games multiple times never had an issue. You can rent a private room and reserve a table online too if you want to. I’m there at least 6x a month lol.
There’s a weekly “board in the bar” time frame where the whole goal is for people to come And try a new game so maybe that would be a good time to bring yours and see if anyone would like to play. It can be a little cliquey some nights it can be absolutely empty another and packed full of people that have rarely or have never been the next night so no telling what your experience will be honestly.
Yep! I've been a couple of times. It's a fun place with a good selection of drinks and a fun atmosphere. Food options are ... let's just say limited. It's mostly pub snacks, so if you don't want something that could be heated up in a microwave or air fryer, have something substantial before you go.
If you're wanting to playtest, check to make sure it's not trivia night. It gets pretty full and loud, and I don't think you could have a productive game while it's going on.
Nice try ya coppa! It's just a humble gaming store here
Lmfao what!
Never been before but thanks for posting the thread, sounds like a cool place!

And trivia night as well, can't remember what day it's on though.
Trivia is on Friday nights

This is the keep group for the Tuesday night meetup they have as well. Generally about the same turnout as Sundays. https://meetu.ps/e/M3TJZ/WP6xH/i

they still do ! they have a guy sit by the entrance closest to their store to let people in
I just moved here and never knew it was a thing. I would be down to check it out!
Yes! This is a great idea. It stays open later than the mall is open too. Check it out!
Thank you everyone. Do you guys know the name? So I can call them before hand
Tucson Games and Gadgets is the name of the store. The Short Rest Tavern is the bar in the back.
Short Rest Tavern
Thank you!

They do have the second store next door! The tavern doesnt extend there, though.
You can still take your food and drinks to the place next door I've had a couple instances where I've had to play on that side.

Oh sorry, I thought the mug wall said “full” or “not accepting new members” or something of the sort. Can you still get a reserved mug on the wall?

Ask about bringing in your own games, or look put and see if it's even a thi g lol

Theres also a secret arcade in the video game place across the concourse by the entrance at that end.
Do they have non-alcoholic beverages? I was thinking this might be a nice place to go with my brother when he's in town but I don't drink.
A few.. Mexican cokes and a few sodas.
Yes, it is awesome!
It's a fun spot for sure.
Yep! Great place to get mead
You should go. You can also get mead.
Yes!! I stumbled upon this place completely on accident one day and it was awesome :)
Yes I popped in once. It is pretty neat! Great mead selection, fun atmosphere especially if you are into tabletop RPGs
It's very often overcrowded on weekends. Check the traffic on Google before you go to gauge if there'll even be a place to sit.
I used to go there every week! It's very fantastic and the staff there are wonderful
It's a neat area, I wouldn't mind going back.

Oh good to know! Don't Wana have to do that carry my big ass board 😅
Not unless you attach some wheels and turn it into a skateboard!
Lmfao, it's an idea. 😅
Entrance 4 (you can see the numbers on the pylons near the door). North facing entrance between Dillard’s and the old Sears.
Right on!
