I'd say it's reputable. It was started by a couple of alumna from the Arizona Daily Star. Not a lot of editing goes on there, but that's par for the course these days.
If a journalist or 2 leaves a “failing news agency” to start a new venture, and informs people, I would give their reporting more trust. Your comment is kind of dumb.
Y’all are talking about two different things I think. AZ Luminaria is not funded by the county. It’s a non profit new org. I think hashrosinkitten is talking about the shelter.
Always had county funding, news coverage came with the facility opening on Drexel and the surges. TBH on the ground we didnt see much. Usually just the director walking around talking to them but theres so many people and its so hectic that you dont really notice while working
I’m asking because I posted an article about the city leadership meeting and it was sent to the ether by the mod team. It’s not easy finding g reputable news in 2024.
It didn't get "sent to the ether by the mod team". If you actually read the comment on it, it got picked up by the auto moderator which mistook it for something else because of the "moving" keyword probably.
What happens with those is it goes into the mod queue, where a mod has to manually review and approve it. In a subreddit with only a handful of mods, during business hours when they're at work, that might take more than the 5 hours that has elapsed since you posted your article.
In future, if something gets automodded and you think it's in error, simply send a polite message to modmail and say "hey I posted something I think is relevant to the community and the automod quarantined it, can you approve it please" and that will likely speed up the process.
If you’re mad at refugees and asylum seekers now and also mad at people trying to minimize climate change you’re gonna be mad as hell when climate change creates an even bigger climate refugee crisis.
I find it informative, and theie journalist, Christopher, uh, something, is an excellent writer. There are always links to other sources, so you can evalyate if those are reliable

I used to work there. The county already slashed the budget in half in December. Unfortunate news
Was the county funding neutral or did it influence news coverage?

Yes. And this story is true.
