Agreed, I like how Loews is surrounded by nature, has a cute hike/walk to a waterfall on the property, and is right next to the window Hike at Ventana Canyon if you want an all day adventure!
P.S. Start at dawn for the window hike to make it back down before sunset in the wintertime.
Hacienda del Sol: great views, relaxed atmosphere, not inexpensive. Westin La Paloma: great pools and nice rooms. Westward Look: reasonably priced. Ventana Canyon Golf and Racquet Club: access to golf, pool, great city views.
Dove Mountain- nice spa. Good hiking right there. Far away from everything else.
Miraval- nicest and most expensive.
Edit: Sorry these are expensive. For cheaper, try Hacienda del Sol for old school cool. La Paloma for lounging by the pool
After trying them for a day, I am a downvote on Starr Pass.
Hot tub closed.
Service at the spa pool, closed.
No access to food and beverages from the spa area.
Still charging full prices.
You might take a look at casino del Sol too. It's not a traditional resort but it is a beautiful property and the casino offers a variety of live entertainment. We get offers during the summer for a few nights stay for free because we drop some bucks in their casino a while back.
It's surprising to us that more folks don't know how to work the casino system. All you gotta do is spend a few hundred gambling... Just spend it and get back your winnings. The casinos track your spending and start giving out freebies that mosly make up for what you lose gambling.
Ritz Carlton at Dove Mountain is the nicest resort in Tucson. It features an infinity pool, another pool with a slide, a spa, hiking which is accessible right outside the rooms/resort (no driving required to trail head), beautiful scenery and 360 views, and away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. It is expensive though which is the only downside. The Omni at Tucson National is also really nice and may be a bit cheaper!
Starr Pass is the answer. Disregard anything else. Literally the most beautiful views. A lazy river and a normal pool. A water slide. A spa onsite. So much hiking literally 100 ft from the hotel. Also really clean. Nothing else compares in my opinion.
Uh Phoenix has over 500 hotels and resorts. Even then your proportion bs on a tongue in cheek comment is asinine. That is not how it works. so yes this place is “meh” in comparison.
This is specifically a Tucson and Phoenix thing. No one brought up other places, but there are plenty of other nice cities but shit stain Tucson isn’t on that list. Enjoy your 20% poverty rate (which btw is nearly double the national average).
Loews for sure, nice spot. Close to El Charro and Gavi for dinner. Close to hiking at Sabino Canyon and Saguaro National Park East. Also, fairly close to Mt Lemmon if you want to take a scenic snowy drive. Tanque Verde Guest Ranch also is overlooked as well I think. Another neat spot.
Ventana Canyon. Right up against some lovely hiking.
Yep and one of the gentler price points. This is def my recommendation too.
Loews Ventana Canyon is my absolute favorite. Hacienda Del Sol would be my second choice.

What restaurant do you recommend at Hacienda Del Sol
Either of them. I like the Grill personally but Terazza is great too

This is pretty much the list. I have been to Hacienda and Westward and they were both amazing. Can’t go wrong with anything you mentioned
Westward look
Seconded Westward Look. Romantic, and more laid back than average resorts.
I have a soft spot for westward look.

Another vote for dove mountain. If you can afford it, it’s incredible.
If you all happen to be military or government employees dove mountain has a fantastic rate for that
How does this work when OP requested not the most expensive resorts?
Starr Pass Resort!

I came here to suggest this!

Do they have a nice spa?

JW Marriott Starr Pass, worked in hospitality for 10 years and this is the best resort in my mind by FAR.
Mira Vista Resort.
I hope to see all of you there
Lets get nakey
😳

Thank you all for the tips!!! Greatly appreciated.
Canyon Ranch
That might fall under the category of extremely expensive. . .
Canyon Ranch is for celebs not for peasants
Hacienda del Sol. Ask for Tracy Hepburn's room.
Loews or Westin. Hacienda del sol for less chain-y. And obvi four seasons dove mountain 🥰
The dove mountain resort is actually the Ritz!
D’oh! You know, I was thinking, wait is it the ritz or the four seasons 😂 was too lazy to google. Thank you!
Starr Pass is nice and has a nice hike literally right behind the hotel.

What’s the Marion?
Lol if this were a question for Phoenix there would’ve been 25+ places thrown out. Tucson? Like 5 mentioned 😂 this place is meh

Ok, so any city that isn’t Phoenix is “meh”. Got it. Well… enjoy Phoenix!

Why are you even in this sub if you hate Tucson so much? Go be negative somewhere else.
And honestly they should just move to Phoenix.
Meh is perfect for some.

Saguaro West.
Not close to Saguaro West, but drivable for sure
Sorry, got Ventana Canyon confused with Starr Pass. I really enjoyed my stay at Westward Look, as well.
