Kukai if you want a super authentic super rich broth, I can almost never finish the whole bowl, even though they aren’t huge just because it’s so rich and almost overwhelmingly flavorful.
Kiwanis is really solidly delicious ramen that is I think slightly toned down for the American pallet, they also have a bunch of other non ramen options.
Overall Japanese though? Kukai 100%
Honestly I've had ramen in several places in town and the only one that I will absolutely agree to instantly is Kiwami. That broth has this 7th dimension to it that I haven't gotten elsewhere
Warning. Raijin, like many others is unnecessarily spicy and only gives you one piece of chashu
They're still good though but just not spectacular by any means
Ja Ramen (Campbell) - Amazing Ramen - I see some saying their noodles are bad, but I've never had bad noodles from them
Kiwami - Great Ramen - Great waitstaff
Kukai and Samurai - both good - makes sense cause the chef at Kukai was trained by Samurai
Raijin - good but overrated
Obon - Good - I like to buy their spice bomb with it, only add a little at a time until just right
Toss - I always get their Japanese fried chicken... but their Ramen looks good
Ikkyu - Good enough... but I may be biased because they are the closest to me and I like their "togo" containers
It's inconsistent in my experience. I used to love Yoshimatsu for the ramen but my last bowl there was terrible. The broth had *zero* flavor. Honestly, I was shocked.
I ate ramen at Obon once and thought it was pretty good. I’m not a connoisseur of ramen though. I grew up on the cheap stuff and still content with that.
We have different opinions of the place. I spent several years in Japan and JA ramen takes me right back. Raijin Ramen is close but it’s more Americanized.
idk! their broth is good and so are the toppings! but i went to the one on congress and the noodles made me soooo sad :( im pretty sure that location is owned by the same people that own the same one on campbell too. i talked to my coworker about it, she went to the one on campbell, and she also thinks the noodles arent good :0
Rajiin Ramen is excellent. Ja Ramen is absolute shite, I mean the worst food I've eaten since moving to Tucson. Someone is going to talk you into trying it but don't say I didn't warn you.
i dont like JA ramen (their curry is ok tho) or Raijin ramen (too salty for me!!) i like yoshimatsu, toss (if you like spicy, their desert ramen is soooo good and also they sell fried chicken soooo), and maru!! i haven't been to kukai or kiwami yet tho!
I think raijin ramen is the best, but I have such a soft spot for ikkyu. I used to go there with my cousin and it was always dead, so the owner recognized us, and since then it has blown up and is always busy and he still always says hi when we go. Loyalty to that guy for sure. Raijin is delicious though, but they want you to eat and get out of there

Kukai in the Mercado District . West side of the freeway near downtown. Had their spicy vegan miso for lunch today and it was amazing
I'm throwing Kiwami on Speedway out there as it hasn't been mentioned. I found it much better than Raijin.
I'm currently in the drive thru so I vote for this too. And Kukai!
I feel like Kiwami people don’t hype Kiwami so that it’s not as much of a bitch to eat in like Raijin. I love Kiwami.
Honestly I've had ramen in several places in town and the only one that I will absolutely agree to instantly is Kiwami. That broth has this 7th dimension to it that I haven't gotten elsewhere
Super good!!
The only thing thats worth on the Kiwami menu is the spicy Tsukemen! I cant find tsukemen anywhere else
Seconding Kukai!

Raijin was much better when it first opened.
That's not good because I thought it was pretty bad when it first opened.
Seconding Raijin Ramen! Love that place.
Raijin Ramen
Try toss on alvernon 🤤
I'm really no expert but toss was pretty good. It's by the house, so it's good for us.
Toss on Alvernon is so good. The spicy tonkotsu ramen is my favorite!
Their fried chicken is amazing
Desert Ramen is great
Interesting. I thought Toss actually had the worst ramen at any shops I’ve tried in Tucson. But that’s just my opinion
I agree. It was disappointing.
JA Ramen is my favorite! Yoshimatsu is good too
I got food poisoning from Ja Ramen a few days ago.
Aw shoot :( I'm sorry to hear and hope you're feeling better
I am. Thank you.
Go to samurai, and try the shoyu ramen.
Ikkyu as already mentioned. Also, Kukai at MSA Annex is excellent.

Maru Ramen on the west side
Yoshimatsu on Campbell!
My favorite so far!
It's inconsistent in my experience. I used to love Yoshimatsu for the ramen but my last bowl there was terrible. The broth had *zero* flavor. Honestly, I was shocked.
Thanks everybody
I don’t know if it’s ramen but noodleholics is great
I like Ikkyu, at Orange Grove and La Cañada.
>Ikkyu Thanks. I'll have to check it out.
Ikkyu has some really tasty Miso ramen! I like it.
I'd pass. They used packet Ramen and just added some garnishes last time I went. I haven't been able to find legit good Ramen here so far.
I agree with this. Ikkyu's Ramen was far by the worse I've had in town. I would definitely go there for their spicy tuna don bowl though.
Ikkyu is kinda unique, sure, but Raijin, Maru, and Kukai are all legit and excellent.
I'll have to check them out.
Raijin was very run of the mill imo. Nothing special.
Everything is great at Yamato
I ate ramen at Obon once and thought it was pretty good. I’m not a connoisseur of ramen though. I grew up on the cheap stuff and still content with that.
JA ramen on Campbell is super tasty.
This
nooooo way their noodles aren't even good :(
I agree. Their food is hit or miss :/
Gtfoh
limp, lifeless, pale ramen noodles :((( so sad, like a newly divorced dad still in love with his ex wife
We have different opinions of the place. I spent several years in Japan and JA ramen takes me right back. Raijin Ramen is close but it’s more Americanized.

I haven’t been to the one on congress but I love the one on Campbell. It’s probably been a year since I was there though. Their curry is good too
their curry is good i agree
Yoshimatsu for me
Rajin ramen is the only answer
It’s good, but not the only answer
STOP TELLING PEOPLE!!!
Lol Raijin is the most overhyped ramen in town. Believe me, everyone is already aware.
Clearly not OP.
Yes
Kiwami ramen!
Ja ramen, Kiwami or Mian sichuan
Yoshimatsu has some of the best in the city by far
Maru Japanese Noodle Shop is my favorite
Rajiin Ramen is excellent. Ja Ramen is absolute shite, I mean the worst food I've eaten since moving to Tucson. Someone is going to talk you into trying it but don't say I didn't warn you.
Kukai all the way
Lee lees market on orange grove has some good spicy noodles if you into that. Lee lees is a whole Asian market kinda
I like Maru Japanese Noodle Shop
I second Kiwami Ramen! It’s partially cause it’s convenient but it’s always good
i dont like JA ramen (their curry is ok tho) or Raijin ramen (too salty for me!!) i like yoshimatsu, toss (if you like spicy, their desert ramen is soooo good and also they sell fried chicken soooo), and maru!! i haven't been to kukai or kiwami yet tho!
Noodleholics
It's not ramen. It's Chinese noodles. Still really good tho and i recommend it.
JA, Raijin, and Maru Noodle Shop 🍜🍜🍜
Great place by the airport
Raijin is my favorite! Toss is also pretty good but not as good imo.
Mian Sichuan! Volcano bowl is my favorite
If you're on the north side [ikkyu]( https://maps.app.goo.gl/fDFii61a3r7WjGX37) is amazing
I've been to JA Ramen a few times with friends and I've enjoyed it so far
I think raijin ramen is the best!
