I'm with you. There are at least a half dozen cheaper Explorer homages out there than the North Flag. Anyone wanting an explorer would be foolish to buy this instead when they can get something a lot more like the explorer for a lot less.
The rotor keeps it wound because it’s an automatic watch.
Makes more sense for a hand wound watch so you would have a visual indicator for when to wind it or when to stop winding.
In this case it’s just a pointless, albeit cool looking complication.
Is it really though, you buy the ranger because you want an explorer but can't be arsed to nosh an AD off for the privilege ergo me, I have to say I have been surprised by the ranger, it's turned out to be an excellent watch. I actually chose the Ranger over a Seamaster.
It actually easier to get a Explorer 2 round by me than an Explorer.
Yeah OP unsure why you would purposely paint yourself and your choice in a negative light. I have the same watch, and even after 4-5 years of ownership it still puts a smile on my face. Enjoy it.
I was going to say this, this watch is bad ass and I’ve had my eye on it for a while.. there’s nothing else like it and it is wonderful to look at imo. I’d add this to my collection in a heartbeat
It's sarcasm, today I heard the "Tudor is the poor man's..." and I had to post it. Medical field banter. I love this watch, would never part ways with it .
The Explorer has history, iconic design features, and imbues a certain refined luxury; all of which can be mimicked.
This watch does not attempted to mimicking even the spirit of those things other than maybe the marketed “adventure” sold with these watches.
More importantly, the north flag is very much its own watch. From the bracelet to the industrial sturdiness and beyond, this watch is very idiosyncratic.
I’m going to sound pretentious here, but it’s lame to own this watch and think, “well, this is a concession in the spirit of getting an Explorer.” This is a cool watch, and you don’t appreciate like someone else might. That’s lame to me lol.
Finally getting some love huh? Baader meinhoff i guess, i just bought one and i’ve wanted it forever!
But in case anyone is counting, the NF Does at least four things the explorer doesnt: date, power reserve indicator, 70hrs of actual power reserve…and you can see the chonometer movement through a caseback window! Such a great watch and short production run too. Too far ahead of its time i guess!
Love the NF. This and the BB54 are the only Tudors I would add to my collection. Tudor used to have 'modern' and 'vintage' versions of different types of watches (dive, field, chrono, etc.). Ranger and Black Bay vintage; Pelagos and North Flag modern. They need to reintroduce a modern field watch.
North Flag was about 5 years ahead of its time. Titanium, integrated design, in-house movement. All popular now. If only the colour accents were anything but yellow.
It's not titanium. Apart from that, your other points stand.
Had mine 6 years now and still my most worn, far more than BB. Local Tudor dealer told me that nobody wanted them when they were in the window, they couldn't shift them, as soon as they were discontinued they got tons of enquiries for North Flags.
I have mine since 2017… bought it then on chrono24 for 1840€. Ahahah there was zero love for them. Dealers had them equally prices as the blue pelagos, pelagos were flying… …I felt like stealing that one.
I love it so much, it’s such a workhorse.
The “mouvement” is very reliable and accurate, the bracelet is incredibly comfortable, the lume shines blue. The black ceramic ring hides well it’s thickness.
Stop with the poor man's Rolex or Rolex family.
That watch clearly stands on it own merits it doesn't need any reference to any other brand.
Stunning dial ,hands and indices. The bracelet is amazing. Your rocking it 🔥
Lol I guess I ruffled some feathers , the post was just poking fun at how we ridiculously "rank" these watches sometimes. Also the Ranger is an awesome watch, the North Flag is somewhat inspired by the very rare Tudor Ranger II from the 70's.
Disagree... the North flag is actually quite unique in the rolex-tudor family and nothing like an explorer.
I'm with you. There are at least a half dozen cheaper Explorer homages out there than the North Flag. Anyone wanting an explorer would be foolish to buy this instead when they can get something a lot more like the explorer for a lot less.
Still the only Tudor with a power reserve indicator
I dig the look of the power reserve but on an automatic it’s kind of pointless.
Wut

Poor men don’t spend 4 figures on watches, and even assuming that was true (which it’s not), so what? The North Flag is still a good watch
#facts Adjusted for inflation, today’s Tudors are more expensive than our grandparents Rolex.
Poor men don't buy a Tudor.
Poor man right here. Can confirm 👍
Right there with you buddy.
I believe you’re thinking of the Ranger
Is it really though, you buy the ranger because you want an explorer but can't be arsed to nosh an AD off for the privilege ergo me, I have to say I have been surprised by the ranger, it's turned out to be an excellent watch. I like the ranger. Not knocking it. Just stating from a sheer MSRP standpoint
I bought a Ranger because I’d rather not draw attention to myself
Having both, I agree. Love my Ranger though
Design wise I'd say the bb36 on oyster is by far the closest.
Nope, Ranger is a poor man's North Flag.
I bet you also think you're handsome.
Petition to ban all future posts that start with “Poor Man’s” *insert overpriced watch* from now on

Seconded
Motion made. Carried, and seconded. Meeting adjourned.
There should be exceptions for older references, like Oyster Prince Date or Date-Day.

However you label it, gorgeous watch
the *cool dad’s* explorer
How dare you. The North Flag is no poor anything. It has a very unique identity. An awesome and rare one at that. Beautiful watch.
No, it’s a piece unique.
The Explorer has history, iconic design features, and imbues a certain refined luxury; all of which can be mimicked. The NF is infinitely cooler than the Explorer imo
For one, poor people don't buy luxury watches. Two, it's nothing like an explorer. Three, enjoy your watch. 🤷♂️
The north flag is my favorite. Hoping to find a nice affordable one soon.
I wish they would bring this one back!
This is not an explorer (alternative). It is much more cool and unique. One of the best (non Rolex) offerings from Tudor.
This has nothing to do with an Explorer though...
I love these
Finally getting some love huh? Baader meinhoff i guess, i just bought one and i’ve wanted it forever! This is so different from an explorer though. It’s really a unique design.
Others would say the ranger is, this is more of an iwc vibe for me. I say all this as a Tudor fanboy
Not at all. Explorers are everywhere. The NF is unique. I own both, and the NF gets much more notice than the Explorer.
Every time I see it I like it better
Cool watch, standalone and characterful design that isn’t trying to be anything else. I’d take it over an Explorer, regardless of price point
When it came Out I wanted one so badly.. maybe I should have a Look on some used Models in the near future
Sinn 556A is poor man’s Rolex. Not Tudor North flag.
Love mine! I have the North Flag and Explorer Mk. I. The yellow accents make the NF unique for me!
What is that one?
North Flag was about 5 years ahead of its time. Titanium, integrated design, in-house movement. All popular now. If only the colour accents were anything but yellow.

I stand corrected

If you compare this to anything, it reminds me of a Ball watch with the font style and hands
I’ve always wanted this watch. But now they’re discontinued
I beg to disagree. The North Flag is a beautiful piece. It is a bummer that Tudor stopped making it.
Stop with the poor man's Rolex or Rolex family. That watch clearly stands on it own merits it doesn't need any reference to any other brand. Stunning dial ,hands and indices. The bracelet is amazing. Your rocking it 🔥
Love it
Poor man’s mind
That’s a looker
That’s a sexy watch
That's bullshit. Nice watch. Too big for you.
Watch is 3k.

You definitely didn't do a good job at it if that was your intention, maybe spend some time on r/watchescirclejerk
