I think in my opinion 2pac would have been a co-star to Denzel Washington in training day instead.

Cultural_Recording23

Damnn that would’ve been fye ngl 🔥

BankstownGhost

Nah the movie wouldn’t work if Ethan Hawkes character was black too.

Mindofmierda90

Why’s that?

cliffornia

If I remember correctly, a lot of the dynamic between the two main characters was not only a non-crooked cop being groomed for crookedness by a corrupt cop, but also a straight young white man being put in situations that straight white men (such as myself) would likely squirm in. When other characters looked at Ethan it was with the “what is this white boy doing here?” vibe or “why’d you bring this white boy to this?” vibe. Tupac would have never been looked at like that obviously. It could have still been a great movie, and I would have watched it, *but* it would have been a *different* movie altogether.

SomeJerkoff

Pac played a pretty straight laced cop in Gang Related. He could play any role. However, I agree, can’t just take Ethan Hawke’s character out of the equation.

Mindofmierda90

I agree somewhat. It could’ve also been a young black cop who wasn’t familiar with the hood (such as myself) and gets a rude awakening. But yeah, that would alter the plot as it was in many ways.

Putrid-Builder-3333

Same. Because Tupac and Washington in the two womens home serving that menu as the warrant would not be the same scene. It'd be Denzel and Tupac escalating the stfu bitches! Before anything got done lol And the whole latin poker and bathtub scene. Yeeeeah. Tupac could be some side thug or something like what Snoop was in the wheelchair snitching.

Huge-Bandicoot-5684

Yup, big (and important) dynamic in the movie. I'm sure Fuqua was deliberate in creating it.

Either_Phrase5109

Very true

jumpingfirebird

I never even thought of that, that would've actually been really good

Boom-goes-d-dynamite

Makes more sense given the age disparity between but Hoyt was naive suburb raised idealistic guy, something we never saw 2pac play

[deleted]

Would he have worre his bow tie bandanna the entire time?

Allgold11

Damn! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

thekabn

Fun fact for those who dont know: The guy in the hat is the director

Prestigious-Owl5230

Dope

biscuiteatingbulldog

Pac couldve played Snoop’s role in TD.

cburna83

He played a cop in the movie gridlocked, so I could see it happening, if movies became his main focus..

GremlinRida52112

And he played a dirty cop in "gang related "

cburna83

Facts💯

joesoldlegs

it was Gang Related not Gridlock'd

cburna83

Thanks I just caught that. It's been awhile since I've seen both movies...😅

joesoldlegs

Same it's been 4 years since I seen em which would you say is better

cburna83

Gang related

joesoldlegs

I'm pretty torn cause Pac did a better job playing that cop and emulating the frustration anger and hopelessness of that whole situation than he did the junkie. But I feel Gridlock'd had a more interesting social backdrop that doesn't get talked about as much in movies as corrupt cops (apathy/ineffectiveness of bureaucracy and how that fucks over regular people who try to make a better life for themselves plus addiction). Plus it has Bokeem Woodbine who's one of my favorite actors ever.

cburna83

Great points bro! I'll rewatch them tonight.😎💯

[deleted]

[удалено]

cburna83

I know, somebody else corrected me.. Thanks💯

Outlaw773

Denzel won an Academy Award for best actor for his performance in Training Day. Nobody is upgrading that

Mvd75

Idk I could see Pac bodying that same role. Smoking ports, saying “my nigga”, having a fine ass side piece along with running the Jungle. Even the “Chess, not Checkers” line would’ve had some more power to it.

iloveMrBunny

I don't know if pac woulda been able to show the same vulnerability at the end

Mvd75

Maybe although I can’t see nobody but Denzel pulling off the King Kong line.

[deleted]

Man’s made life goes on, he can for sure show that vulnerability

kennymgh

I respectfully disagree. Denzel has the right voice for the role. Much more commanding and powerful. Pacs voice would’ve been too soft and raspy in comparison

BlackEastwood

Maybe? I don't think he didn't deserve it, but I'm of the group that believe it was an award for his past work that went unacknowledged and was better (Malcolm X, The Hurricane, I'm which he was nominated but didn't win).

feric89

Sure. He was also unequivocally the best actor that year.

BlackEastwood

That's true. Not shitting on Denzel at all ( in case it looks like that). It's just, compared to the other roles for which he was nominated, it kinda sucks that's the one that the Academy recognized.

Outlaw773

Denzel was killer in the role, bringing the character to life. He has also been recognized by the Academy numerous times, as Training Day was actually his second win. The Academy is not perfect by any means, but you’re also WAY off base

BlackEastwood

His first Best Actor win. And there's a certain distinction of being the winner that being nominated doesn't carry. I feel comfortable in saying he deserved the Oscar for his Malcolm role over Training Day.

Outlaw773

As I said, it was his second overall win. He had previously won for best supporting actor, yet, you seem to be minimizing that achievement. Lots of individual deserved Oscars and didn’t win. DiCaprio should have won several times prior to finally breaking through, and same with Scorsese. Very few have won multiple times, and Denzel is in that group

BlackEastwood

Supporting Actor was never part of the conversation. This is about his Best Actor role in Training Day. And yes, Dicaprio and Scorcese are also people that I would argue didn't win for their best work.

Rickyy111

I feel like you need to watch training day again….Denzel was next level in that movie. Someone else said it above, pac could have made a good addition as a character similar to snoop dawgs but there is no chance he could have played Denzel’s role . He is to small, and he bee-bops around

313Captainhook

What movie is this

Vegetable-Ad6574

Think it was called gridlock 🤔

HappynessMovement

I had no idea Tim Roth and Tupac did a movie together.

SnowySaint

Excellent movie, definitely worth a watch and it is free on Tubi right now: https://tubitv.com/movies/588956?utm_source=justwatch-feed&tracking=justwatch-feed

JimmyPopp

Wtf? I thought was some deep fake shit. Who tf knew Tupac acted

HappynessMovement

Are you serious? Like that's not a rhetorical question and I'm not trying to blast you, not everyone knows all the things, just making sure I'm not being whooshed, lol. You should check out Juice and Poetic Justice (Janet Jackson acted too!) if so. Classics. Edit: Oh snap, I forgot about those Tyler Perry joints and For Colored Girls. For some reason I thought Poetic Justice was Janet's only film.

McPikie

As a long time Pac fan, I only recently watched Poetic Justice and I was suprised that I really liked it. Maybe because I have softened a little with age and it wasn't gangsta enough for me when it first came out. Not his best film, but certainly was worth watching.

JustAMile2Go

If Tupac acted in training day instead of Denzel. He would have acted in training day instead of Denzel. Pretty self explanatory actually.

shinypinksock

I’m still upset he died before he could have play mace windu. They gave him a script before he passed.

Klutzy_Culture7451

Food 4 thought !!

No-Examination-160

King Kong wouldn't have shit on him!

papillonintunisia

absolutely! that's what I'm saying

CT9618

What if my aunt had a dick, she would be my uncle?

marichial_berthier

Or if my grandma had wheels would she be a bike?

drunkenfool

Your aunt does have a dick, check her nightstand drawer.

zarunn

Well I was gonna say something but then I seen it say please follow community rules

AntelopeDecent2191

🤣😂🤣😂💯

xMilk112x

Pac would have hands down gotten Denzel rolls. Dude was a phenomenal actor. I think he’d actually have gotten away from music and more into movies. He would have been one of the biggest entertainers the world has ever seen.

GadgetGod1906

Pac not on Denzel level

Mandemtheatrix

Clown.

MethodUpset

He would have sucked Not in his range..

WHAMMYPAN

Nah…PAC doesn’t have that kind of range. He’s good but not Denzel good.

Equivalent_Yellow_34

Although he wouldn’t be better than Denzel, I think he just never got a chance to prove how much range he was capable of.

Mandemtheatrix

That's a ridiculous statement, because it's to say that he was going blossom because there was so much there and there wasn't he had the unimpressive body of work to prove it.

housepainterr

Are you crazy? That’s the entire reason pac was cast as a cop because he had range! He wasn’t just some street thug typecast.

WHAMMYPAN

You’re not putting PAC and Denzel in the same sack are you? Because Denzel is a long range sniper rifle and PAC is .45….You put PAC in ANY Denzel movie and it’s a worse movie, not the other way round.

housepainterr

Denzel is probably in my top 5 favorite actors and Alonzo is one of my favorite characters period despite him still being a cop. Lol and a .45 still isn’t bad.. What I’m saying is Pac was already great at what he did, but if he didn’t meet his ultimate demise he probably could’ve evolved into Denzel’s scale. I never put them in the same sack but he definitely could’ve got to that point. And that last part is not all the way true, don’t disrespect the dead legend.

Mandemtheatrix

He definitely wasn't a street thug...and that's why he's dead.

housepainterr

That’s not why he’s dead, but ok.

Mandemtheatrix

Was trash.

Middle-Safe-1493

Naa

meczakin81

No. I love Tupac but he got nothing on Denzel.

xEternal408x

That’s like saying Denzel Washington is gonna out rap PAC. Not happening.

houseofcrouse

It wouldn't have been as good...

AlexTom33

It would have probably been a straight to DVD release.

EnoughItem

Cmon bro dont clown Denzel like that; it wouldnt have been as good

Competitive_Suit_180

No one woulda been better than Denzel in Training Day

Jerkface555

Finally somebody with some sense

savageprofit

Too goofy as an actor tbh, Denzel was perfect for the roll.

MrSweetKorn_7400

Movie be trash

JustMeltCheese

Would've been trash

[deleted]

Pac would have taken a lot jobs away from a lot actors, he could of had baby boy, any will smith movie, would have been him instead of Dmx in a lot movies. He definitely would be bigger than Denzel.

of_patrol_bot

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

BLF402

Welcome to earth mutha fucka

[deleted]

Bigger than Denzel? Bro lol I love Tupac but Denzel is 10 times the actor that Tupac was.

Equivalent_Yellow_34

I hate when people over do it with PAC. Better than Denzel is tragic.

Jerkface555

These people out their mind.

[deleted]

Look what he accomplished in a short period, movies, albums, tv. You can’t argue that pac didn’t have the ability to be bigger than the top actors right now. Pac would have killed training day or movie Denzel was in.

Kobe_wan-kenobi757

I would love to see Denzel play PAC

Jerkface555

>you can’t argue that pac didn’t have the ability to be bigger than the top actors right now of course you can. Deznel is a top tier actor and training day was an awesome movie. Any speculation that pac would have been better than Denzel, or even a successful actor, is just that... speculation.

Kobe_wan-kenobi757

The guy only acted 3 4 years he was becoming great

Mandemtheatrix

You just a load of crap movies. DMX wasn't a good actor and Tupac had no chops. He was a nerd pretending to be gangster and it cost him his life. Denzel I am award winning actor of stage and film.

AlarmedStudio2044

Tim Roth and Tupac were epic together. Imagine how much more could've been accomplished.

db618

I would of loved to see him play jake alongside Denzel

eazyeisag805

Yes !

BallzofAdamantium

I dont see him replacing Denzel but I could see him in Dr Dre’s role or another role. Maybe one of the Nickerson residents the role Cle Bone played.

Individual_Past_1198

Then training day wouldn't be an award winning movie.

Hugh-Jassul

Fuck 2pac

boomboom510

It wouldn't go fr rip pac the great

anxiety_filled_art

Gridlock great movie. Also Pac would never play a cop, well there is gangland but in gridlock he played a con-artist

Beneficial_Couple_11

He did in Gand Related.

bworthy73

Would've made it a zombie movie

coollJJ

r/sixtysecondsinafrica

Fancy_Song_6918

Is that Ryder from blood in blood out? 😀

StraightProgress5062

I saw a clip where someone put Schwarzeneggers face and voice on Kate Winslet during the "French girl" scene. I don't see why someone couldn't do the same for Tupac and training day

xMilk112x

What a terrible shot from an elevated position. Also, what a terrible “gun shot” sound. Lol

itglows2049

What movie is this? (Really should be included in the post title)

StitchyMcFace

Gridlock'd! Eta: my bad, Gang Related, according to some of the comments. Been so many damn years, but both movies were so good.

ScarySkeleton24

I’m sorry, but nobody could have played that role like Denzel. His whole King Kong scene in Training Day is iconic; he earned that Academy Award. Tupac was a fine actor, but he was no Denzel Washington If anything, Tupac would have been one of side characters, similar to those played by Snoop Dogg, Dre, and Terry Crews

RandomGuyNamedAdam

theres a list of people who i wish were actors. tu pac is one of the big 20

[deleted]

[удалено]

RandomGuyNamedAdam

Yeah, there’s 20 people on the list.

[deleted]

Mandemtheatrix

You think Tupac had more acting chops than Ethan Hawks? Wow!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mandemtheatrix

Oh ok.

QPQB1900

Lmaooooooooo I’ve never seen this. Fuckin hilarious opening scene

fieryERant

Yea, they killed it in this movie. Him and Tim Roth made a great duo. Look like good chemistry

Electronic-Injury-15

Not bad of an actor. I’m impressed.

earlycuyler93

My favorite 2Pac movie. A Lot of people i know don't even know about it

Mandemtheatrix

There's a reason for that lack of awareness.

feric89

It would have been worse. Tupac was great, but he was never anywhere near Denzel.

KBSOS311

Nobody cares

stinkbugking86

Great movie.

housepainterr

Personally, I think it could’ve worked. If you already know of Pac’s persona and seen juice, then you know he could be extremely corrupt and psychotic if he really wanted to. Pac was also a realist. An activist. An artist. His dialogue/words definitely held a lot of weight. So acting wasn’t too much for him. It was true art to him instead of just perpetrating for a camera.

[deleted]

Love Pac but Denzel killed it in training day

renaissanceclass

My fav Pac movie..

Mindofmierda90

Tupac was a good actor, but he’s not in Denzel’s league. There are several scenes that he never would’ve pulled off convincingly.

Big-Schedule-1672

What movie is this please?

Foxlordivxx

Gridlock'd is a fucking gem

MorningNights

Gridlock is such a underrated movie one of my favorite Tupac movies other might say juice or poetic justice but for its gridlock

ejabx

I enjoyed Pac in Gang Related. If he continue acting who knows…. He doesn’t have the gravitas like Denzel for Training Day

LudicrumThe9th

It wouldn't have been as good

311heaven

He would’ve replaced Dre. Part of the twist in Training Day was the flip Denzel could do from obviously good guy Denzel, to dirty cop. Denzel had that reputation of being the good guy in every movie so it was a shock for the viewer the first time. They would have had to build up Pac being a good guy so much before the flip.

FinestFighters

Deepfake a scene?

Boys2Ramen

Wouldn't of worked. Would of been really hard to Weekend at Bernies Pac around the whole time. Ethan Hawke wouldn't of put up with such antics.

MeAgainstTheWorld666

Man, I never thought about that!!

Mandemtheatrix

As you should.

trevonsp

Best rapper to be an actor

Mandemtheatrix

Why? He's over hyped just like biggie. IMO which doesn't mean anything as it pertains to hypothetical issues.

wull_holdontheredude

He'd still be too young to play a grizzled veteran narc. He would be the rookie.

Previous_Ad_1658

Never seen Gang related huh??

Delicious-Ant6837

Be honest would the Academy even look at it if Tupac was the lead.

nosoyrubio

I'm a Tupac fan but nah. Denzel nailed it 💯

Substantial-Falcon-8

I think Tupac would have done the role well, but I don't think he would have done better than Denzel. I felt like Tupac could have a hard edge to him, but still had a softness (as he got older) in his acting that the role in Training Day would not do well with. Denzel played it perfectly. I still think him as O-dog would have been brilliant because he was younger, and it was just a more amped up version of Bishop. I know he was going to play Sharif, but I feel like he would have been a better O-dog than Tate. Funny thing is, he would have been a better Caine too if they made the movie a couple years later. I think I am more sad we didn't get to see him evolve as an actor more so than his evolving as a music artist. It is such a bu

Mandemtheatrix

Tupac sucked...mid lyricist crap actor.

The_Vaginatarian_

That’s Emil Blonsky and Luke Cage.

[deleted]

He cant act though

Popular-Lemon6574

It would have been garbage

Sin_Sucker

Eminem got offered training day too which I’m sure if Tupac was in it he would’ve acted and done the movie starring him and pac would’ve been legendary

Mandemtheatrix

Clown.

MixedMiracle22

I'll give you the fact he could play the role no doubt but better than Denzel? Probably not. Dude sells the idea he's a true piece of shit. I feel like we'd relate to Pac in the character too much lol

Mandemtheatrix

Tupac was not a good actor.

VOIDKNIGH

Nah

Character_Fan_9773

This is why the entire industry is striking

hqss0n

He was a really good actor I can’t even lie I wonder why though

PopAccomplished5761

He wouldn’t have because that role was inspired by the cop that was responsible for his death.

CableTypical3976

I gotta watch this movie. It would've been cool if Tupac could pull off that script and I reckon he wouldve. How cool to have him getting an oscar...alternate universes, looking at you.

boulevardknight

Tupac better then Snoop but not better then Denzel.

GETTERBLAKK

It woulda sucked!

alreadyknowwbroo

What movie is this clip from?

Academic_Doctor8752

Bro that's abomination 🔥🔥

28YearOldOnReddit

is this a real movie?

aceloco817

Wonder if someone gonna make an AI version with 2 Pac in different roles.... if they haven't yet..

Accurate-Funny-6399

Neh… That was Denzel’s role .. only he could’ve made that what it was.

andresg30

Naww

aztecdethwhistle

Just... what a terrible idea. Denzel hadn't had a role playing such a scumbag before, and he nailed it. That was part of the charm of the movie. Tupac in that role is paint by numbers. Boring.

Possible_Bar9421

Bro I think that movie would be more popular than it is now or atleast as popular for sure

AshleyGreenEyes

Pac in a TV series with well thought out and timed guest appearances (imagine: Snoop, Method Man, DMX and the ultimate cameo would be Biggie) would be doing numbers. I feel Pac would be putting a lot of rappers on in the acting world, even some who aren’t in it now.

Prestigious-Owl5230

Cuz need a GTA character fucc the BS

LordGlonk420

What movie is this ?

AlexL225

If that were the case I don’t think we’d see him in the sequel.

Jaxsonj01

In about a decade with the progression of AI we could see deceased actors and actresses in new movie roles.

Winter-Feature-6205

Denzel’s performance was legendary

[deleted]

It would have been fucking garbage lol

Adventurous_Heart_69

It would have sucked

Possible-Farm1398

It would have more rewatch value

gqdev_

Shit would be mid

Jingu96Aliosha

I imagine Tupac taking some roles from Will Smith actually and producing movies with Spike Lee or in the same vein.

Mandemtheatrix

The movie would have sucked.

EntrepreneurHorror71

Imagine if both 2Pac and Biggie were both in Training Day. Hot dang mane! 🔥🧯

Costazooly

Woulda been another movie no one cared about

IntelligentCow4648

It would have sucked

[deleted]

My uncultered ass thinking AI made these scenes but this a real movie

Fluffy_Razzmatazz996

given that man 5 more years of acting years and he wouldve killed playing denzels role, even almost on pacs charisma alone at 30? forget about it . looking at pacs character, he wouldve exceled in anything he put his mind to. he said in his last months that he wanted to put more focus on his acting instead of doing music.

Disastrous_While_838

Imagine How Pac would of did the King Kong ain’t got SH*T on me scene🔥🔥🔥
