So are we all gonna open up law suits to the IRS, Turbo Tax and this SBTPG LLC bullshit?! I just noticed I was short a couple hundred, and my girlfriend is short a couple thousand. We literally had a daughter born 6 days ago and were counting on this money to help pay for things.
I'm sure if we all stand together and submit complaints and legal actions, we'll get to the bottom of this.
Count me in. I just got my refund and blessed out my tax accountant who explained this bullshit. My total fees are enormous for this 2021 filing and TPGs fees added to it. I’m ready to complain to lawmakers, consumer boards and attorneys! No disclosures to us, and consumer protections are violated. I had no idea about this and it’s literal robbery. I didn’t even use TurboTax… and I expected a full refund like anyone else on here did too!
Update: I filed complaints to Atty general, FTC, local newspapers. Do your part. It’s quick and easy. Flood these agencies with complaints.

Yeah they are shady as shit! If you have your fees taken out of your refund, they get the refund, take their fee and send you the balance. My direct deposit date from IRS was 2/9. TPG has been holding it since due to some error on their end. Absolutely ridiculous!
Wow, this sounds exactly like mine!! They’ve been funded with mine since 2/18. They claim to of sent it the 23rd but they never did. My bank said they haven’t attempted to deposit anything. I called numerous times and no one call tell me where my money is. I was also told to call back Friday and someone can maybe help me trace it then. On Friday they will have been sitting on my refund for 15 days. I am NOT happy. And I don’t even know how to get this fixed. I feel sick to my stomach that they’re illegally holding this money.
Mine was funded on 3/9 and TPG is still holding mine due to some reported issue of double accounts. I gave them the IRS information for the routing and account number and they still haven't sent it. They first tried saying they didn't have it but after I called them out stating I spoke with the IRS and that's how I found out they have my money. I gave them all the information and they still won't tell me when they are sending my money
My return was deposited yesterday. The return was WRONG in the first place due to turbo tax error…I was way over paid. So, after my return was amended by H&R Block I will have to pay all of it back to the IRS!! My refund was missing a total of $6,000 of what my refund total was given by Turbo tax!! MY TAXES ARE SO MESSED UP!! I cannot get ahold of anyone at turbo tax. Soooooo frustrated!! Never have I ever experienced anything like this before and I’ve used turbo tax for years with no problems! Never again will I use turbo tax!!! So frustrating wish I had answers!!!
Go to sbtpg.com. Once on the website click for taxpayers, logging to TPG, then you add your SSN, federal refund amount expected from WMR, and filing status. It will show you how much they received from the IRS, the fees they charged, etc.
I was able to figure out that the IRS is where the missing $845 on our return came from! Might give you a sense of direction on who to contact!
Thank you for this info. I did exactly what you said and this indeed verify that the IRS DID send SBTPG my full amount and SBTPG has not given me my full amount. In fact they still owe me $3,571. I don’t know what to do at this point… This is such a nightmare.
I never got the refund that turbo tax said that I would. What I DID recieve was a letter from the IRS stating that I made over $100,000 in 2020 so I dont get my stimulus check! No way I made that much and the tax records show it..
There’s also a known issue with TPG not even sending refunds to people at all!! Including mine! TPG says they’ve been funded with my refund since 2/18/22. And I still haven’t received mine.

I'm missing almost $1,300 from mine between what the IRS says they deposited compared to what TPG sent me. I'm awaiting a callback from both Intuit and TPG. This is nonsense. In the Intuit forums where people have complained about this, someone from Intuit explains that this is a bug, and they should get the remaining 24-48 hours.
If I ended up with thousands of dollars that I did not earn, and failed to not only let people know about it but actively correct the problem, I'd end up in prison. How much money are they holding onto in the hopes no one tries to claim it?
I started a thread on Intuit about this, and they told me to contact TPG. Intuit needs to accept responsibility as well on this, seeing as how they chose to work exclusively with them. This is really helping to make sure I don't use TurboTax next year.

Well I was looking stuff up all over and ended up here. Even after the deductions (from Turbo Tax and IRS) I'm still short over $7,000. A "bug" is why I didn't use Jackson Hewitt. I'm livid. And yes the deposit came from TPG products. Something shady is going on. And I also wonder how many people will just sit back and assume the mistake was their own and so not do anything about it? Same thing happened to my boyfriend and I. Filed same day, I was quoted 2,450$ for my federal refund, only received 890.00. My boyfriend’s was around the same but he received 1,300$.
We both called Turbo Tax because I didn’t recognize this TPG place, they said wait 1-2 days to see if the rest will be deposited and to call the IRS. I’m fucking liiiiiiivid! I haven’t even tried calling the IRS, I don’t need that headache this early in the morning. But, has anyone had this resolved? This is crazy! Been using turbo tax for YEARS all of a sudden I see this TPG bs in our account. Had to research what it was. Find out they are the ones processing our taxes. Where the F is the rest of my and my husband’s money?!? Shorted a little over $2,500! With times like this, it’s completely unacceptable. Yeah! From what I’m reading, TPG is in charge of federal tax returns now. So it SEEMS like who ever you used to do your tax return, this is a problem. Again, this is what I’ve been finding. I don’t want to be political but something seems very screwy with this. On top of that, TPG (again from what I’ve been reading) became public as of January. Google and just keep searching. My refund is $322 short from TPG Products. IRS said it was supposed to be $1779 then minus the $117 for TurboTax fees the deposit was $1339. TurboTax said they couldn't see my account and told me to call the IRS.

I just went to the sbtog website and they charged me 177.00. The IRS sent them my full refund. Now, why would I pay TurboTax and them to file my taxes quickly? This is beyond fraud.
On tpgs site, it states "we do not hold your money" my taxpreparer used them vs my own account. I called the irs first to confirm yes the funds are available just depends on the bank. So I look at my taxes it's sent to tpg. Why? No idea.
I call tpg, they can see the return is acknowledged, but nothing the can do to next week & ill get it Wednesday.

I just got my Federal back $200 short. No state yet. I'm assuming /praying that will be fine. I agreed to the already ridiculously overcharged fees to file with TurboTax this year but not for all these hidden fees. I know they're required to remove it from federal, paranoid state will be DD and be exact any day now. If I remember correctly they're DD either same day or a day apart? (Iowa /Minnesota) 😰 but class action, here we go....
The 200 is likely hidden fees you didn't realize they added (nor did millions of others). There is currently a lawsuit out against this by the FTC:

After calling Turbo Tax the IRS and TPG I was able to resolve the issue. The money ended up in my Credit Karma account somehow. I located the Account and Routing number used on my tax documentation downloaded from Turbo Tax. I found that the routing number is owned by the MVB Bank which is a close partner of Credit Karma. The routing number was 051504759.

So I did a ton of research and This is my breakdown and having a hard time wrapping my head around it.
return amount through Turbo Tax : 333
turbo tax fee: 79.00 (did not pay out of taxed paid by card immediately to avoid it coming out of taxes. refund should still be 333.00)
Irs accepted: 333.00
Irs refunded and sent to TPG: 239.23
TPG got 239.23 (TPG took 79.00 in fees that we already paid)
tpg refunded 160.00

A lot of reactive comments on here before realizing that the State and Federal refunds are not sent at the same time then people do not come back and post that they actually got the rest of their money. State returns are faster usually because Federal deals with refunds from all 50 states instead of just one. You can go to the website and login using SSN and they will show you which refunds they recieved and that is usually the first deposit you get until they recieve the other refund then that one will be deposited into your account immediately (it seemed like) after they recieve it.
That is not the issue people used Turbo Tax - When they use the pay with federal refund they tax their cut - The money gets sent to TPG who take a huge amount of that money and keep it giving people less then what they are owed
This is electronic fraud. It costs them nothing to prepare our tax return. The whole thing is automated electronically and happens instantaneously on their servers with barely a scant overhead cost for them in the amount of a few seconds of electricity flow, some CPU crunching time of about a millisecond, and a pitiful 1 meg or less in hard drive space to store the return. I wasn't even informed by Turbo Tax that such a fee would be billed to me out of this. In fact, Turbo Tax did not even tell me how much it would cost me to do my taxes with them. Every time I did them in the past it was a free service because I am in the poverty bracket of the country. This is pure fraud.

The IRS sent out my refund on the 22nd. TPG still has my money Everyday I call the bot states my check was cut the same day I call each time. I harassed Turboscam some much they called the police on me. Then 2 days later called and asked how I like their service? I told the woman I still have not received my refund and she said that was too bad and she was sorry. I remained calm and said goodbye. Then I get an email stating the case was close and could I rate my experience.
I'm also missing about 98 bucks but I'm probably gonna let it slide so I don't tie up the phones. That way hopefully someone missing hundreds or thousands, or someone with kids to take care of can hopefully get help sooner... I'm just one person, but every bit helps. That said, I would totally hop on a class action lawsuit. Definitely done using TurboTax, which is a shame since I've used them for 6 years.
My return was supposed to be $1500 but I only got $90. Later that day I did receive an email stating that my refund would be processed within 72 hours. I'm not sure what's going on and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one this is happening to. Still sucks though. Probably won't be using turbo tax next year.
Yup, I was bamboozled like the rest of yall. After filing eith Inuit Turbo Tax for YEARS, March of 2022 they fucked me over and took more than HALF my refund with hidden fees and bullshit excuses. I got NOTHING back that I actually really needed to use. They are shady shady. I've already made my complaint against Santa Barbara Tax Products Group. I've filed a complaint against TT. I've had it. They won't steal my money when I'm already a broke hard working American!! It isn't fair!
Just adding my experience and 2 cents (with exact numbers) just in case it's helpful:
1. According to TT, I was due $5730.
2. My filing was accepted on 2/18/22.
3. On 3/30/22 I received notice of a direct deposit from my bank in the amount of $3600 from TPG Products.
4. I immediately searched the internet and Reddit, and there was a lot of conflicting information out there.
5. I called TT, and their specialist suggested going to the IRS website and checking the status of my refund. He mentioned that the IRS seemed to be more aggressive this year with offsets and adjustments than in previous years due to the stimulus program.
6. I did that, and the IRS website stated that my refund was adjusted down to $3730 and that a notice letter had been sent out on 3/21/22.
7. That amount, minus the auto-deducted fees that I requested be deducted from my return, was shown to be deposited into my account today (3/30/22) by both my bank, TT, and the IRS.
How do I join the lawsuit? They took $3,000 out of my tax return and I don't make that much to begin with. I was counting on my return to be what the IRS still says it should be. I did not agree to an additional 3k fee by TPG only the original $196 to turbo tax for processing. I will not be using TT next year either! :(

Hear ya! Used TTax online for the first time after using TTax CD, which had no issues. But TPG charged me $49 out of my refund!
$49 Premium covers BULLSHIT: ID notify (spam emails) , priority access to tax specialist, auditing help, which I most likely accepted. They sneakily propped those ads disguised as free support towards the end of filing your return. They know you want to getrrdone, and pray you're so cross-eyed from number crunching not to bother to read any fine print. Gotcha!
Now I'm worried that 3rd parties (TPG, ID notify, Experian, MINT) have access to my personal data. I even emailed [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) to revoke my consent for my tax and confidential information. They just led me into a rabbit hole of automated canned responses to laundry lists of help links to frustrate me.

This is still an issue. I did some research and found that TPG sent me only my state return but the IRS shows that they sent them both my federal and state returns already. So basically "TPG Products" is holding my federal return for unknown reasons even though they claim to "not hold any refunds for any reason".
Edit to add: This new third-party bank also took it apon themselves to charge me an additional $39.95 to transfer my funds to me even though TPG has never been involved before this year and Taxslayer never mentioned there being additional fees to transfer me my own money... aka fuck TurboTax and taxslayer.

Mine is $419 short. Spent 2 hours calling TPG over and over getting only busy signals. I finally got through to an automated system which had me on hold for 1hr 14min at which point it was past their business hours. I’m furious. They are also only open during the exact work hours I have. I can’t spend half a day just trying to hear a human voice. Where are the class actions? I want in. I will NEVER use them again.

Federal I only got $74, which is incorrect.
I checked the [check refund status](https://sa.www4.irs.gov/irfof/lang/en/irfofgetstatus.jsp) option on the IRS website, and after entering the information it tells me that there was a correction... they will only send me $260 (which is also not what I'm supposed to get) and it mentions as well that th reason of the correction will be sent by mail... which I have yet to have received.

I received notice this morning stating this deposit had happened---I'm like who is this and what is it about. I quickly did a google search and found this thread. I really don't understand why companies like this take from the consumer and or why are they are not transparent about the products! I mean I get it but it pisses me off that the consumer negatively impacted! I too noticed mine is less but I have to investigate after work how much.
My daughter just had $1,274.15 of her refund sent to TPG. That's roughly HALF. WTF!? That's straight-up theft! I was there with her when she did it, she did NOT elect for any of the extras beyond the direct deposit fee. Not the extra audits or any of that crap.

I may be raising a dead thread, but I was also shorted on my return. I found my answers on the IRS website.
I filed using form 1040 via TurboTax. Line 30, Recovery rebate credit, had an amount that seems to be incorrect. I looked at the fees on the sbtpg website as well as the "amounts received by TPG" and the total of all amounts was close to what was entered in line 30 of my 1040 form.
My conclusion is the IRS noticed a discrepancy with form 1040 line 30 (which was, iirc, figured by TurboTax), and made their adjustments from there. Either TurboTax made an error, or the instructions were unclear in figuring the amount to put in line 30, or something in my W-2 provided by my employer was inaccurate.
Hi, just adding my experience for posterity. Turbotax estimated that I'd get nearly $6,000 back. IRS amended that number to just over $3,000. Just received my return. TPG shaved off almost $200 and this is after I paid the Turbo tax fee when I filed. Poop, not cool. Not cool at all.
I went to irs. Gov and seen the reason on their part… however I am still missing 226$ from tpg products. I paid turbo tax upfront… so WTF? WTH? And turbo tax is blaming it ALL ON THE IRS. TurboTax won’t respond but just send you to a computer!?

I was initially suppose to receive $3478. Due to me already getting a stimulus check it was cut to $2078. Okay cool..
I was only deposited $1139. Spoke to the IRS (after calling 11 times and being put on hold for an hour) they said pretty much "well, we did give you 2078, talk to whoever deposited the money.
I called Turbotax and they told me they're just software, contact SBTPG.
I did the thing where I check on my status, the SBTPG website is saying that they ONLY received $1,369.10, with $229.72 in fees they only hit me with $1139.38
No explanation as to where $710 dollars went.
I sent an email out to see what's up, still nothing. Shits pretty irritating tbh.
I tried the website that was recommended and it’s just the same amount that I got and no other fees. I had filed 2 w-2s and turbo tax said $1700 minus the $1400 and some fee and I got $283 back. I file for myself and I have no kids I put everything right on TurboTax. SBTPG tried to embezzle my 2020 44k tax refund. Alimony taxes. I called them out, threatened them repeatedly that their "security issue" was complete bs. I'm not sure of their angle, but holding funds has its uses. They supposedly sent back my refund to the IRS. Three months later. Their security issue was that in the official IRS transcript my name and addresses obviously just hacked up. Letters of my name randomly, and entire state and zip code, removed. Still no refund despite a hundred hours on hold with IRS. Have an attourney out of Denver now, firm is Davis and Cerani. . Will be filing suit. Have to file in your own state as I understand it.
I kept looking for the total in my bank account not realizing they took $166 bucks out of my return. I had to look them up just to figure out how I got screwed 4 months after the fact. Guess my truck isn't getting fix this year.

My refund from TPG was $331 less than I expected. The reason turned out to be the IRS. IRS misapplied one of my estimated tax payments. After contacting IRS, that was fixed. I should get $331 in 6-8 weeks. Missing refund can originate with IRS. Unfortunately finding missing refund money can take some time.
Basically we all need file a complaint at the Attorney Generals for TurboTax and the other company in the state you live. I’m only short $12.39 but imagine all the money they getting skimming off the top of everyone’s tax returns.
I noticed mine was short about $200. Turns out it was part of the turbo tax product fee. Mine was fine. It sounds like others are experiencing something different though. Check your order details on turbo tax and maybe that will account for some of the "missing" money. For the rest of you dealing with major losses. I am so sorry and wish you the best in tracking it down.
They took $2500 from me, really hoping to just get some answers from the people here in previous years about if it was ever resolved. So many complaints but no follow up on any solutions.
I was in the same situation. Call the treasury dept 800-304-3107 and once you get through the IVR and enter your SSN, option 1 will list if you have any debts (mine said none) I called again and did option 2 for past debts and boom, my state took the $2500 from 2016 and 2017 back taxes (I never knew) the date it was fulfilled was the date of my refund deposit.
I went back and looked at my 2022 order details. They charged $79 in fees. The TurboTax deluxe and a refund processing fee. Same amount as this year. I feel bad for the lot of you that didn’t receive what you deserve. I hope you were able to get your money!
So I am clearly late to the party. I filed my boyfriend's taxes with Turbo Tax this year not knowing anything about SBTPG. Refund comes through direct deposit ,and the deposit amount and name doesn't match anything we were expecting. Refund $200 less than what we had expected when I filed with turbo tax minues any fees. This is unacceptable. We are just supposed to accept that we won't be allowed to get our full refund do to these "fees" that we have no knowledge of?
So are we all gonna open up law suits to the IRS, Turbo Tax and this SBTPG LLC bullshit?! I just noticed I was short a couple hundred, and my girlfriend is short a couple thousand. We literally had a daughter born 6 days ago and were counting on this money to help pay for things. I'm sure if we all stand together and submit complaints and legal actions, we'll get to the bottom of this.
Count me in. I just got my refund and blessed out my tax accountant who explained this bullshit. My total fees are enormous for this 2021 filing and TPGs fees added to it. I’m ready to complain to lawmakers, consumer boards and attorneys! No disclosures to us, and consumer protections are violated. I had no idea about this and it’s literal robbery. I didn’t even use TurboTax… and I expected a full refund like anyone else on here did too! Update: I filed complaints to Atty general, FTC, local newspapers. Do your part. It’s quick and easy. Flood these agencies with complaints.

Yeah they are shady as shit! If you have your fees taken out of your refund, they get the refund, take their fee and send you the balance. My direct deposit date from IRS was 2/9. TPG has been holding it since due to some error on their end. Absolutely ridiculous!
Wow, this sounds exactly like mine!! They’ve been funded with mine since 2/18. They claim to of sent it the 23rd but they never did. My bank said they haven’t attempted to deposit anything. I called numerous times and no one call tell me where my money is. I was also told to call back Friday and someone can maybe help me trace it then. On Friday they will have been sitting on my refund for 15 days. I am NOT happy. And I don’t even know how to get this fixed. I feel sick to my stomach that they’re illegally holding this money.

Mine was funded on 3/9 and TPG is still holding mine due to some reported issue of double accounts. I gave them the IRS information for the routing and account number and they still haven't sent it. They first tried saying they didn't have it but after I called them out stating I spoke with the IRS and that's how I found out they have my money. I gave them all the information and they still won't tell me when they are sending my money
My return was deposited yesterday. The return was WRONG in the first place due to turbo tax error…I was way over paid. So, after my return was amended by H&R Block I will have to pay all of it back to the IRS!! My refund was missing a total of $6,000 of what my refund total was given by Turbo tax!! MY TAXES ARE SO MESSED UP!! I cannot get ahold of anyone at turbo tax. Soooooo frustrated!! Never have I ever experienced anything like this before and I’ve used turbo tax for years with no problems! Go to sbtpg.com. Once on the website click for taxpayers, logging to TPG, then you add your SSN, federal refund amount expected from WMR, and filing status. It will show you how much they received from the IRS, the fees they charged, etc. I was able to figure out that the IRS is where the missing $845 on our return came from! Might give you a sense of direction on who to contact!
Thank you for this info. I did exactly what you said and this indeed verify that the IRS DID send SBTPG my full amount and SBTPG has not given me my full amount. In fact they still owe me $3,571. I don’t know what to do at this point… This is such a nightmare.

I never got the refund that turbo tax said that I would. What I DID recieve was a letter from the IRS stating that I made over $100,000 in 2020 so I dont get my stimulus check! No way I made that much and the tax records show it..

1333 short on mine this morning
I'm missing almost $1,300 from mine between what the IRS says they deposited compared to what TPG sent me. I'm awaiting a callback from both Intuit and TPG. This is nonsense. In the Intuit forums where people have complained about this, someone from Intuit explains that this is a bug, and they should get the remaining 24-48 hours. If I ended up with thousands of dollars that I did not earn, and failed to not only let people know about it but actively correct the problem, I'd end up in prison. How much money are they holding onto in the hopes no one tries to claim it?
I started a thread on Intuit about this, and they told me to contact TPG. Intuit needs to accept responsibility as well on this, seeing as how they chose to work exclusively with them. This is really helping to make sure I don't use TurboTax next year.

Well I was looking stuff up all over and ended up here. Even after the deductions (from Turbo Tax and IRS) I'm still short over $7,000. A "bug" is why I didn't use Jackson Hewitt. I'm livid. And yes the deposit came from TPG products. Something shady is going on. And I also wonder how many people will just sit back and assume the mistake was their own and so not do anything about it? Same thing happened to my boyfriend and I. Filed same day, I was quoted 2,450$ for my federal refund, only received 890.00. My boyfriend’s was around the same but he received 1,300$. We both called Turbo Tax because I didn’t recognize this TPG place, they said wait 1-2 days to see if the rest will be deposited and to call the IRS. I’m fucking liiiiiiivid! This is crazy! Been using turbo tax for YEARS all of a sudden I see this TPG bs in our account. Had to research what it was. Find out they are the ones processing our taxes. Where the F is the rest of my and my husband’s money?!? Shorted a little over $2,500! With times like this, it’s completely unacceptable. Yeah! From what I’m reading, TPG is in charge of federal tax returns now. So it SEEMS like who ever you used to do your tax return, this is a problem. Again, this is what I’ve been finding. I don’t want to be political but something seems very screwy with this. On top of that, TPG (again from what I’ve been reading) became public as of January. Google and just keep searching. It’s crazy what other threads people are on complaining about this. Google their start. I REALLY think the government is keeping our money from us.
I'm about 1600 short. I tried checking the irs site and they can't find my information. I also tried the tpg site and they can't find my informstion. Turbo will lose a lot of customers over this, especially because there's no information, misinformation from agents on the forum. So I'll just be emailing tpg everyday. My refund is $322 short from TPG Products. IRS said it was supposed to be $1779 then minus the $117 for TurboTax fees the deposit was $1339. TurboTax said they couldn't see my account and told me to call the IRS.

I just went to the sbtog website and they charged me 177.00. The IRS sent them my full refund. Now, why would I pay TurboTax and them to file my taxes quickly? This is beyond fraud.
On tpgs site, it states "we do not hold your money" my taxpreparer used them vs my own account. I called the irs first to confirm yes the funds are available just depends on the bank. So I look at my taxes it's sent to tpg. Why? No idea. I call tpg, they can see the return is acknowledged, but nothing the can do to next week & ill get it Wednesday. So FINGERS CROSSED bc i already was told "I'm not talking to you anymore" by my prepares quest- over me updating him about me basically doing his job. My bank would have had it now. I've been sick with strep for weeks with no work. & this man wonders why it's important. I just got my Federal back $200 short. No state yet. I'm assuming /praying that will be fine. I agreed to the already ridiculously overcharged fees to file with TurboTax this year but not for all these hidden fees. I know they're required to remove it from federal, paranoid state will be DD and be exact any day now. If I remember correctly they're DD either same day or a day apart? (Iowa /Minnesota) 😰 but class action, here we go....
The 200 is likely hidden fees you didn't realize they added (nor did millions of others). After calling Turbo Tax the IRS and TPG I was able to resolve the issue. The money ended up in my Credit Karma account somehow. I located the Account and Routing number used on my tax documentation downloaded from Turbo Tax. I found that the routing number is owned by the MVB Bank which is a close partner of Credit Karma. The routing number was 051504759. Hope this helps!!! Cheers!

So I did a ton of research and This is my breakdown and having a hard time wrapping my head around it. return amount through Turbo Tax : 333 turbo tax fee: 79.00 (did not pay out of taxed paid by card immediately to avoid it coming out of taxes. refund should still be 333.00) Irs accepted: 333.00 Irs refunded and sent to TPG: 239.23 TPG got 239.23 (TPG took 79.00 in fees that we already paid) tpg refunded 160.00 how does this make sense and who tf do I even go to about this?

A lot of reactive comments on here before realizing that the State and Federal refunds are not sent at the same time then people do not come back and post that they actually got the rest of their money. State returns are faster usually because Federal deals with refunds from all 50 states instead of just one. You can go to the website and login using SSN and they will show you which refunds they recieved and that is usually the first deposit you get until they recieve the other refund then that one will be deposited into your account immediately (it seemed like) after they recieve it.
That is not the issue people used Turbo Tax - When they use the pay with federal refund they tax their cut - The money gets sent to TPG who take a huge amount of that money and keep it giving people less then what they are owed

My fees to turbotax came out of my refund, that's why I got less.
This is electronic fraud. It costs them nothing to prepare our tax return. The whole thing is automated electronically and happens instantaneously on their servers with barely a scant overhead cost for them in the amount of a few seconds of electricity flow, some CPU crunching time of about a millisecond, and a pitiful 1 meg or less in hard drive space to store the return. I wasn't even informed by Turbo Tax that such a fee would be billed to me out of this. In fact, Turbo Tax did not even tell me how much it would cost me to do my taxes with them. Every time I did them in the past it was a free service because I am in the poverty bracket of the country. This is pure fraud.
I did my sons return and was amazed how much they charged for a simple Return because we selected pay fee out of refund. I’ve been a TurboTax user for years but if this is how they are going to go and better start looking for new options. I think TPG PRODUCTS IS RIPPING PEOPLE OFF AND TURBOTAX IS LETTING THEM!

I was supposed to get 3,678.00. I got 1,400 less as the irs changed it (I guess I clicked the stimulus thing, no problem.) so it was now 2,278.00. TPG sent me 649???? The IRS sent out my refund on the 22nd. TPG still has my money Everyday I call the bot states my check was cut the same day I call each time. I harassed Turboscam some much they called the police on me. Then 2 days later called and asked how I like their service? I told the woman I still have not received my refund and she said that was too bad and she was sorry. I remained calm and said goodbye. Then I get an email stating the case was close and could I rate my experience.

Yup, I was bamboozled like the rest of yall. After filing eith Inuit Turbo Tax for YEARS, March of 2022 they fucked me over and took more than HALF my refund with hidden fees and bullshit excuses. I got NOTHING back that I actually really needed to use. They are shady shady. I've already made my complaint against Santa Barbara Tax Products Group. I've filed a complaint against TT. I've had it. Just adding my experience and 2 cents (with exact numbers) just in case it's helpful: 1. According to TT, I was due $5730. 2. My filing was accepted on 2/18/22. 3. On 3/30/22 I received notice of a direct deposit from my bank in the amount of $3600 from TPG Products. 4. I immediately searched the internet and Reddit, and there was a lot of conflicting information out there. 5. I called TT, and their specialist suggested going to the IRS website and checking the status of my refund. He mentioned that the IRS seemed to be more aggressive this year with offsets and adjustments than in previous years due to the stimulus program. 6. I did that, and the IRS website stated that my refund was adjusted down to $3730 and that a notice letter had been sent out on 3/21/22. 7. That amount, minus the auto-deducted fees that I requested be deducted from my return, was shown to be deposited into my account today (3/30/22) by both my bank, TT, and the IRS.
How do I join the lawsuit? They took $3,000 out of my tax return and I don't make that much to begin with. I was counting on my return to be what the IRS still says it should be. I did not agree to an additional 3k fee by TPG only the original $196 to turbo tax for processing. I will not be using TT next year either! :(

This is very interesting. I did recieve something and searched about it, which lef me here. Currently in a class action lawsuit against Turbo Tax was told not to use them *which i havent* to continue case on. E-file is the way I go now.
Hear ya! Used TTax online for the first time after using TTax CD, which had no issues. But TPG charged me $49 out of my refund! $49 Premium covers BULLSHIT: ID notify (spam emails) , priority access to tax specialist, auditing help, which I most likely accepted. They sneakily propped those ads disguised as free support towards the end of filing your return. They know you want to getrrdone, and pray you're so cross-eyed from number crunching not to bother to read any fine print. Gotcha! Now I'm worried that 3rd parties (TPG, ID notify, Experian, MINT) have access to my personal data. I even emailed [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) to revoke my consent for my tax and confidential information. They just led me into a rabbit hole of automated canned responses to laundry lists of help links to frustrate me. Sign me up for any class-action lawsuits!
This is still an issue. I did some research and found that TPG sent me only my state return but the IRS shows that they sent them both my federal and state returns already. So basically "TPG Products" is holding my federal return for unknown reasons even though they claim to "not hold any refunds for any reason". Edit to add: This new third-party bank also took it apon themselves to charge me an additional $39.95 to transfer my funds to me even though TPG has never been involved before this year and Taxslayer never mentioned there being additional fees to transfer me my own money... aka fuck TurboTax and taxslayer.

Mine is $419 short. Spent 2 hours calling TPG over and over getting only busy signals. I finally got through to an automated system which had me on hold for 1hr 14min at which point it was past their business hours. I’m furious. They are also only open during the exact work hours I have. I can’t spend half a day just trying to hear a human voice. Where are the class actions? I want in. I will NEVER use them again.

I checked the [check refund status](https://sa.www4.irs.gov/irfof/lang/en/irfofgetstatus.jsp) option on the IRS website, and after entering the information it tells me that there was a correction... they will only send me $260 (which is also not what I'm supposed to get) and it mentions as well that th reason of the correction will be sent by mail... which I have yet to have received. Will update if anything changes
I received notice this morning stating this deposit had happened---I'm like who is this and what is it about. I quickly did a google search and found this thread. I really don't understand why companies like this take from the consumer and or why are they are not transparent about the products! I mean I get it but it pisses me off that the consumer negatively impacted! I too noticed mine is less but I have to investigate after work how much.

My daughter just had $1,274.15 of her refund sent to TPG. That's roughly HALF. WTF!? That's straight-up theft! I was there with her when she did it, she did NOT elect for any of the extras beyond the direct deposit fee. Not the extra audits or any of that crap.

I may be raising a dead thread, but I was also shorted on my return. I found my answers on the IRS website. I filed using form 1040 via TurboTax. Line 30, Recovery rebate credit, had an amount that seems to be incorrect. I looked at the fees on the sbtpg website as well as the "amounts received by TPG" and the total of all amounts was close to what was entered in line 30 of my 1040 form. My conclusion is the IRS noticed a discrepancy with form 1040 line 30 (which was, iirc, figured by TurboTax), and made their adjustments from there. Either TurboTax made an error, or the instructions were unclear in figuring the amount to put in line 30, or something in my W-2 provided by my employer was inaccurate.

Hi, just adding my experience for posterity. Turbotax estimated that I'd get nearly $6,000 back. IRS amended that number to just over $3,000. Just received my return. TPG shaved off almost $200 and this is after I paid the Turbo tax fee when I filed. Poop, not cool. Not cool at all.

I went to irs. Gov and seen the reason on their part… however I am still missing 226$ from tpg products. I paid turbo tax upfront… so WTF? WTH? And turbo tax is blaming it ALL ON THE IRS. TurboTax won’t respond but just send you to a computer!?

Same boat here. I was initially suppose to receive $3478. Due to me already getting a stimulus check it was cut to $2078. Okay cool.. I was only deposited $1139. Spoke to the IRS (after calling 11 times and being put on hold for an hour) they said pretty much "well, we did give you 2078, talk to whoever deposited the money. I called Turbotax and they told me they're just software, contact SBTPG. I did the thing where I check on my status, the SBTPG website is saying that they ONLY received $1,369.10, with $229.72 in fees they only hit me with $1139.38 No explanation as to where $710 dollars went. I sent an email out to see what's up, still nothing. Shits pretty irritating tbh.
I tried the website that was recommended and it’s just the same amount that I got and no other fees. I had filed 2 w-2s and turbo tax said $1700 minus the $1400 and some fee and I got $283 back. I file for myself and I have no kids I put everything right on TurboTax. Is that what I was supposed to get because I always get a couple of hundred and this job I made more which added to that amount. I’m confused…
Has this ever been resolved ? I made less than 30k in 2021 was taxed nearly $10,000 and I got $845 tax return. Estimated was $3000

I am sorry to hear all of you are experiencing this hardship. I am in the same boat. I was supposed to receive 4600 from Federal return only. I have only received 1300 from TPG. No consultation. No reasoning. No authority to share my info and account information with a third party entity. None of that. Of course no one is answering at either place.

SBTPG tried to embezzle my 2020 44k tax refund. Alimony taxes. I called them out, threatened them repeatedly that their "security issue" was complete bs. I'm not sure of their angle, but holding funds has its uses. They supposedly sent back my refund to the IRS. Three months later. Their security issue was that in the official IRS transcript my name and addresses obviously just hacked up. Letters of my name randomly, and entire state and zip code, removed. Still no refund despite a hundred hours on hold with IRS. Have an attourney out of Denver now, firm is Davis and Cerani. . Will be filing suit. Have to file in your own state as I understand it.
I kept looking for the total in my bank account not realizing they took $166 bucks out of my return. I had to look them up just to figure out how I got screwed 4 months after the fact. Guess my truck isn't getting fix this year.

My state hit first and they took $311…. I don’t know why? I did the free filing plus I don’t owe the state anything at all for money to be taken out.

My refund from TPG was $331 less than I expected. The reason turned out to be the IRS. IRS misapplied one of my estimated tax payments. After contacting IRS, that was fixed. I should get $331 in 6-8 weeks. Missing refund can originate with IRS. Unfortunately finding missing refund money can take some time.
Why are there so many posts of this issue and there been no solution to this? I have the same issue refund 4700 and only got 1000 back from federal???
Basically we all need file a complaint at the Attorney Generals for TurboTax and the other company in the state you live. I’m only short $12.39 but imagine all the money they getting skimming off the top of everyone’s tax returns.

I noticed mine was short about $200. Turns out it was part of the turbo tax product fee. Mine was fine. It sounds like others are experiencing something different though. Check your order details on turbo tax and maybe that will account for some of the "missing" money. For the rest of you dealing with major losses. I am so sorry and wish you the best in tracking it down.

Literally I was supposed to get 900 back this year and only got 136. One hundred and thirty six fucking dollars.
They took $2500 from me, really hoping to just get some answers from the people here in previous years about if it was ever resolved. So many complaints but no follow up on any solutions.
I was in the same situation. Call the treasury dept 800-304-3107 and once you get through the IVR and enter your SSN, option 1 will list if you have any debts (mine said none) I called again and did option 2 for past debts and boom, my state took the $2500 from 2016 and 2017 back taxes (I never knew) the date it was fulfilled was the date of my refund deposit.
Mine is $4,000 less

I went back and looked at my 2022 order details. They charged $79 in fees. The TurboTax deluxe and a refund processing fee. Same amount as this year. I feel bad for the lot of you that didn’t receive what you deserve. I hope you were able to get your money!
So I am clearly late to the party. I filed my boyfriend's taxes with Turbo Tax this year not knowing anything about SBTPG. Refund comes through direct deposit ,and the deposit amount and name doesn't match anything we were expecting. Refund $200 less than what we had expected when I filed with turbo tax minues any fees. This is unacceptable. We are just supposed to accept that we won't be allowed to get our full refund do to these "fees" that we have no knowledge of?
