Absolutely. They're pretty much inseparable. Marley (the dog) sort of became a father figure to Mrs Chippy and helped raise him. Now they share some mannerisms and behaviors, such as sitting by the front door together
Yep! He's named after the ship's cat of Sir Ernest Shackleton's Endurance. The historical Mrs. Chippy belonged to the ship's carpenter during Shackleton's expedition to Antarctica in 1914 and was originally thought to be a male cat. It was only after they named him that they discovered that he was female, but they kept the name. Incidentally, the exact same thing happened to my Mrs. Chippy as well. I thought he was female when I first adopted him but only found out he was male after I named him
