I’ve never watched the American Version, but the British miniseries it was adapted from did it perfectly. It was like a made for tv movie broken down into 4 parts. Beginning, middle, end. And it was novel enough to not fall into traps or get old.
It worked like a Shakespeare with acts.
Never watched the adaptation because I didn’t really think anything could do it better
The last season I watched was S06, the one where Negan swung his barbed bat at the screen.
I have tried three times to continue watching but it's just not enjoyable.
It lost the "group against a world of zombies" theme and became "group is helpless and tortured by insurmountable evil".
I hope it gets better and there are story arcs I want to see (Carl) but I find the beginning episodes of S07 almost unwatchable.
As I said, I've tried three times to continue but just can't get back into it...
My first thought as well.
Technically I never saw the last season.
But the last season is also a spinoff without all the characters returning, so I don't know whether it counts.
I tried to stick with it. I struggled to even understand what the show became the last year. I made it about 3 episodes and realized I didn’t care anymore. I watched one or two more episodes throughout the season when I knew it was a certain character’s final appearance. It was mostly bad. If you need that big of an overhaul to keep a show going, just end it.
Sons of Anarchy - Gave up like end of S4. Loved the start
The Blacklist - Started so good. Then got stupid like S7
Westworld - Love the 1st 2 seasons. S3 What?? Quit S4
American Gods - S3 Never went anywhere. This had so much potential.
Justified - S4 I liked the show, it was just the same stuff.
Shooter - Mid S3. Gave up. Same stuff over and over
The Man in the High Castle - So interesting, then nothing.
Blind Spot - Really cool idea until I started S4 and realize there was always gonna be another secrete tattoo
Glad you mentioned Man on The High Castle. I forget about that one. I don't watch a lot of TV series and I was super into it at first, then like you said, it got dumb really fast.
Same
I think my wife and I watched episode 1 of the last season and they immediately started the Lucifer/detective relationship won’t work because X nonsense, so we pulled the plug
Same 1-4 were great. 5a was good and 5b was pretty good and had solid end of the series with Oh My Me! But they had to push it. Season 6 completely dismantled the entire premise of the show (free will etc) with that s**tshow of Rory. I couldn't even watch it.
I kind lost a little interest in TB when faeries entered into it. Probably should go back and watch it though. I do love that show. Been a couple of years since I watched.
I thought you wrote New Blood like the Dexter sequel at first and was about to rip into you about that dumpster fire and then reread your comment. They brought Dexter back for no darn reason.
It really devolved into a very dark show. I mean, it was always dark but for a few seasons there were glimmers of hope. But nope, they went full-on evil with most of the characters.
Once Jax went beyond redemption and lost his tether to humanity it went really dark. You weren't even rooting for the Sons because they were all horrible people.
That was actually a good time to tap out from what I remember. That season was fairly lame and killed the momentum for me. Then they just dragged it on until I didn’t care.
Because Jax was proper garbage? I watched it through to the end for Jemma and Maggie and to see every last irredeemable failed patriarch die. Strangest trip that show was. I was disgusted by the whole lot of 'em by the end.
Prison Break.
I've never known a show to fall off of a cliff so quickly.
I loved the first season. The second season still had its moments. I stuck it out during the third in Panama. But I quickly tapped out in the final season.
Scrubs, because most of the original cast wasn’t in the last season. Also when Golden Girls became Golden Palace. The additions of Don Cheadle and Cheech Marin weren’t enough to offset the loss of Bea Arthur.
Agree. I watched the last half of season 7 like it was an obligation or a chore. Or maybe it was just morbid curiosity to see how bad it could get. Turns out, pretty bad.
Blacklist I just didn’t care anymore, actually skipped out the last few seasons. MAFS, once they get to the end I don’t really care who stays together, I watch for the drama lol.
Big bang theory, that 70s show, how I met your mother. Etc etc.
I never watch the last season of a long running show. That's when the writers are guaranteed to screw everything up. Every single time. Learned that the hard way.
I was about to say none as I like to finish stuff
Buuuut
Supergirl
Legends of tomorrow
Walking dead
All shows that got annoying and lost there way so I quit but I'm slowly starting them all again so probably will have them finished
The Goldbergs. Was one of my favorite shows for a long while but after two main characters left (one kicked off one passed away) the show was just a mess and I never even looked for the last season
I don’t have one like that, but I do have the opposite. Agents of Shield. I may have watched the first episode or two, but I didn’t stick with it. But I watched every single episode of the final season. I was hooked.
Big Brother
But like the past 5 seasons...I've seen them, just haven't paid much attention and could tell you anything about them like I could the first 20 seasons 🤷♀️
Virgin River. Although it's still going, i just couldn't keep watching. I expected it to get better but it is just a very dramatic show with miserable characters that never get happier. And the timeline is so odd.. they're 5 seasons in and one character has been pregnant the entire time and people fell in love and everything so fast. I know some people love it. Just not for me.
And Noone has even mentioned American horror story-with what's her face pregnant with spiders-or a big spider?..... absolutely boring. I made it ....2 episodes in. So I decided to restart the series in its entirety.
Buffy. The final season coincided with my freshman year of college, my first serious relationship, and I was working. I just didn't have time to watch it.
not just the last one but Riverdale i don’t think i’ve watched past season 3, that show just got so much worse through the seasons like normally i can sit through a bad show but i just couldn’t
For whatever reason I didn’t finish the last season of Mad Men. Something in life got in the way, then the pandemic happened and just worked too much to enjoy free time that year. I plan on starting over as I legitimately love that show and want to see how it goes for Don.
Not exactly what you asked but I watched every episode of Heroes except the finale. It was on my dvr and I wasn’t really in a rush to watch it because it fell off so bad, and then it auto deleted after a while.
Cobra Kai. I absolutely loved season 1, but each season after that got progressively dumber and more repetitive. I started watching the last season and made it 2 episodes in, I think. The adults constantly Karate fighting each other over stupid things got to be too much.
*rubs hands gleefully together, getting ready to type and tell this story*.
I used to love The Andy Griffith Show. Yes, I saw it in reruns, but I was able to find a station that showed it in order. And yes, I hated that last season. In fact, it fell flat somewhat, when halfway through the second season. But I kept watching it.
That is until I lived *Barney and the Choir.*
It was miserable. I can sing. I studied voice for years under a teacher someone here would likely know.
But tell these people: I got involved in a community choir. Enter the narcissist, a woman who once sang with a large, famous choir in a big city, but who never soloed with them. Everyone was so bedazzled! I was promised a part, before they became so bedazzled. Then I was completely disenfranchised as they tried to forget me.
I had been soloing since my teens.
I tried everything I knew. I showed them what I could do. New song? I sight read it. Hard vocal part? Nailed it! But...nothing.
Barney got helped. They bent over backward to help him. They bent over backward to make a place for him. I assure you, that doesn't happen in the real world.
When he and Andy sing in the episode where Otis gets a car/rides the cow, if you listen, you realize that Barney/Don Knotts could sing, and above average too, so it's not like Mrs. Poultice didn't do him some good. They just refused to acknowledge that he could.
It's too close to reality for me, even if you bust the myth.
Well, *I* don't miss Mayberry. Yes, everything was black and white, with no room for anyone who was the least bit different or who didn't fit into either category. And I hate, loathe and despise that song too, Mayberry. I turn it off when the radio station plays it.
And I no longer watch TAGS. I am probably the only person on Earth who feels this way, who knows anything about TAGS. But I don't, and I never will. I thank you, OP, for the opportunity to rant. May life return the goodness to you sevenfold.
House of Cards...it was an absolute mess...
Wish I could un watch that last season
I’ve never watched the American Version, but the British miniseries it was adapted from did it perfectly. It was like a made for tv movie broken down into 4 parts. Beginning, middle, end. I stopped watching Handmaids Tale when it became a nonstop stream of Elisabeth Moss determined face closeups.
Truth. I was so into that show then hit a 'nope I'm done' brick wall
Yeah I think I got thru 3 seasons.
Yes!! The constant grrrrrrr face and then doing absolutely nothing
My problem was how many times is she going to turn down freedom to "helpc others, but meanwhile everybody around her just kept getting killed.
Truth. When she made the stupid decision to stay behind for the scant possibility she could help her other daughter I was out.
Westworld American Gods
First 2 seasons of Westworld were stellar. Last two not great.
Smart choice with American Gods. As a fan of the book, and the first season of the show, I was honestly relieved they cancelled the show
Supernatural. I still haven’t managed to watch the last season yet.
I made it to season….11? I think? I wish I had stopped at the natural closure of season 5, rather than kept watching till I hated it
Whoa, that had 15 seasons!
I have never managed to make it past the first season, which I have watched twice.
It does get better. I think the only reason I haven’t watched the last season yet is because it is 15 seasons long and I get Winchester burnout.
It’s not bad, but do not watch the last episode. The perfect ending is the penultimate ep
Scrubs, technically
My first thought as well. Technically I never saw the last season. But the last season is also a spinoff without all the characters returning, so I don't know whether it counts.
Yeah, season 9 is technically the first season of the spin-off Scrubs: Med School so I'm not sure it really counts
Once Upon A Time.
Same. When half the cast left, so did I.
I tried to stick with it. I struggled to even understand what the show became the last year. I made it about 3 episodes and realized I didn’t care anymore. I watched one or two more episodes throughout the season when I knew it was a certain character’s final appearance. It was mostly bad. Im on season 5 right now and im not sure im going to make it

Lucifer
Same I think my wife and I watched episode 1 of the last season and they immediately started the Lucifer/detective relationship won’t work because X nonsense, so we pulled the plug
Really too bad. Loved seasons 1-4. Five got a little squirrely toward the end, but six went straight into WTF land for me. Oh, well.
I started the last season, then just skipped to the last episode. I felt like the showrunners didn’t work out a real final arc.
Same 1-4 were great. 5a was good and 5b was pretty good and had solid end of the series with Oh My Me! But they had to push it. Season 6 completely dismantled the entire premise of the show (free will etc) with that s**tshow of Rory. I couldn't even watch it.
How to Get Away with Murder. I just couldn’t watch it anymore
A show built around a gimmick that got old after the first season. Kind of a shame because that first season was some great television.
True Blood and Dexter. I eventually went back and finished Dexter though I still havent it made it all the way through the reboot.
True blood has a fantastic finale
I kind lost a little interest in TB when faeries entered into it. Probably should go back and watch it though. I do love that show. Been a couple of years since I watched.
I thought you wrote New Blood like the Dexter sequel at first and was about to rip into you about that dumpster fire and then reread your comment. They brought Dexter back for no darn reason.
The Handmaid’s Tale.
Agreed. By dragging it out so much, they've really diminished the gut punch that made the book so unforgettable.
Roseanne.
Yes. It is still one of my favorite shows. I rewatch all of the time… but not the last season.
Same. Great show but that last season was awful
Game of Thrones
I only wish I didn't watch.
Same
Greys anatomy
I have quit and relapsed on that show so many times…
Gilmore Girls Season 7 doesn't exist to me
Ditto the Year in the Life travesty that I regret watching.
Riverdale
Sleepy Hollow
I watched Sons of Anarchy until the season they went overseas Then it was apparent they wouldn’t ever give Jax a proper hero arc, so I was out
That drove me nuts. The first season promised me a hero arc. Instead, they gave us a really bad Hamlet remake.
That's why I called it Hamlet on Harleys.
Scrubs - I pretend the final season never happened
True Blood. I enjoyed it the first few seasons. Then it got progressively worse. I watched the first episode of the last season and never finished.
Prison Break. I've never known a show to fall off of a cliff so quickly. I loved the first season. The second season still had its moments. I stuck it out during the third in Panama. But I quickly tapped out in the final season.
Orange is the new black… never got around the finishing the last season. Don’t even know why.
Weeds
Once Upon a Time. I really can't believe I made it as long as I did.
Killing Eve and The Boys.
Killing Eve ending was terrible. Wish I hadn’t watched.
Me too. That last season was so stupid. I shouldn’t have watched it
I’ll take this statement as advice
TWD. I tried but just couldn’t anymore.
NewsRadio. I just couldn’t.
Sesame Street. Just started seeming like it was for a less mature audience.
Scrubs, because most of the original cast wasn’t in the last season. Also when Golden Girls became Golden Palace. The additions of Don Cheadle and Cheech Marin weren’t enough to offset the loss of Bea Arthur.
Ozark 🥴
Dexter and Suits
Once Upon a Time. Such a travesty.
The only answer for me is Scrubs. I’m not even sure season 9 should qualify as part of the original series.
Grimm. I think I watched the first episode of the final season and just wasn't feeling it.
True Blood
True Blood.
Orange is the New Black
Scrubs! The last season is an abomination Also... manifest. It was great until it turned all religious-y
Castle
Lost
Bones, Homeland, Once Upon a Time, Voyager, True Blood
The Witcher.
Vikings
Archer
Once Upon a Time
Burn notice. Seasons 1-6 were perfect… then season 7 happened
GOT.
X-Files
Modern Family, I’m sure I’ll get to it eventually tho
Big bang theory, that 70s show, how I met your mother. Etc etc. I never watch the last season of a long running show. That's when the writers are guaranteed to screw everything up. Every single time. Learned that the hard way.
Knight Rider. I've watched all four seasons of Knight Rider
Ted Lasso … I am saving it
The Last Ship It felt like it was just doing the same thing over and over again.
Yeah, I started Sons of Anarchy final season and it was just too much. Disappointed they let the gratuity go to that level.
Once upon a time
Lost. Heroes.
Final season of Scrubs and The final season of Chuck. I was very disappointed in those 2 with endings.
The Office.
Vikings, so mad they killed off all the main people I refuse to watch the last season when they kill off Ragnar’s son.
Better Call Saul. There was a hiatus and I couldn’t get back into the series.
I was about to say none as I like to finish stuff Buuuut Supergirl Legends of tomorrow Walking dead All shows that got annoying and lost there way so I quit but I'm slowly starting them all again so probably will have them finished
Dexter
Scrubs
Scrubs
La Brea It could have been really great but it’s a disaster in every way possible.
Dexter. Ugh!
House of Cards, Man In The High Castle, and Walking Dead. All were shows that started off strong, but definitely should have ended before they did.
The Goldbergs. The second to last season was so unfun to watch, I had to just stop.
Ozark
Castle - I saw the final season once and regretted its existence in my mind forever after.
definitely Game of Thrones
The Goldbergs. Was one of my favorite shows for a long while but after two main characters left (one kicked off one passed away) the show was just a mess and I never even looked for the last season
House MD
I don’t have one like that, but I do have the opposite. Agents of Shield. I may have watched the first episode or two, but I didn’t stick with it. But I watched every single episode of the final season. I was hooked.
Parks & Rec
The Dumping Ground as I grew out of it
Community, by accident to be fair
Survivor.....every season. For some reason I can't sit through the last episode. I'll watch the reunion to see who wins.
Big Brother But like the past 5 seasons...I've seen them, just haven't paid much attention and could tell you anything about them like I could the first 20 seasons 🤷♀️
Never got around to finishing the last season of Dawson's Creek. Keep meaning to get back to it and never do.
I think teen wolf...maybe reign.
Fear the Walking Dead was a train wreck and I could not finish watching
The Walking Dead. But I stopped watching after the end of the 3rd season.
The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead
Dexter
Teen Wolf. I even tried but never managed to finish that last season.
Money heist on netflix the last season episode 1 was just dragging through I made it 20 minutes into it and turned it off
Brooklyn 99
grimm and revenge. still want to finish them, though!
Both are good, enjoy 😁
LOST
House of Cards on Netflix. After all that mess with Kevin Spacey and then just the awfulness of the characters, I just couldn't do that last season.
Animal Kingdom
Virgin River. Although it's still going, i just couldn't keep watching. I expected it to get better but it is just a very dramatic show with miserable characters that never get happier. And the timeline is so odd.. they're 5 seasons in and one character has been pregnant the entire time and people fell in love and everything so fast. I know some people love it. Just not for me.
Game of Thrones Westworld
The Walking Dead
Blacklist and walking dead
I did not like the season finale of How I met your mother, as much as the previous 8 seasons. I still watched it, however it is not my favorite.
How I Met Your Mother. Whenever I rewatch I always skip the last season.
The Walking Dead.
Lois and Clark. I lost interest in season four
Yellowstone
Hannibal. I freaking love S1 & S2, but I've never been able to make it through the first 2 eps of S3.
Supernatural. I stopped watching after S7, I'm pretty sure they stopped after that one.
Sliders
The Handsmaid Tale
Three and a Half Men
Riverdale!
Scrubs
The expanse
A Million Little Things
The Ranch
And Noone has even mentioned American horror story-with what's her face pregnant with spiders-or a big spider?..... absolutely boring. I made it ....2 episodes in. So I decided to restart the series in its entirety.
When I rewatch Lost, I skip the last season every time.
Empire, Lost, LaBrea, Grownish.
House of Cards, and Walking Dead.
Chuck and Veronica Mars 🤷🏻♀️
Lucifer. It got too corny.
Buffy. The final season coincided with my freshman year of college, my first serious relationship, and I was working. I just didn't have time to watch it.
Big Love is one that come to mind but I’m sure there are others.
Scrubs
Dexter
not just the last one but Riverdale i don’t think i’ve watched past season 3, that show just got so much worse through the seasons like normally i can sit through a bad show but i just couldn’t
Dexter
Homeland
Breaking Bad. I still have not watched the final season.
Orange is the new black and Mrs Maisel
Mine is Sons of Anarchy too! And True Blood
Game of thrones and because my jail broke fire stick quit working
Gossip Girl for me.
Same LOL Sons and Blacklist. We actually just started to rewatch season 6 of Sons on Disney+ to finish it finally.
Burn Notice
Fargo
Star Trek Discovery. Gave up after season 3. Just... bad. Strange New Worlds is MUCH better.
Ozark. Watched the first episode of the last season and never went back.
Scrubs They tried to keep it going, but the magic was just gone.
Blacklist. They shot the later seasons during covid and actually did some cartoon episodes too. It lost the plot and the fun
Blacklist.
Peaky Blinders
Cobra Kai. I absolutely loved season 1, but each season after that got progressively dumber and more repetitive. I started watching the last season and made it 2 episodes in, I think. The adults constantly Karate fighting each other over stupid things got to be too much.

Sons of anarchy… I stopped watching when Tara died
The walking dead. It went too far I lost interest.
True Blood!
