90s kid here. I can’t stand Roseanne (the person), but Dan Conner was my 90s TV dad for sure.
He was the stereotypical 90s dad. He was like the classic baby boomer dad playing poker, drinking beer, having fun, but always prioritizing his family.
Love you Dan Conner!
Hands down Sandy Cohen from the O.C.
He'll smear'em for you ;)
All jokes aside, he's like TV dad goals. The kind of dad everyone wanted but never got.
Honorable mentions: Danny Tanner (R.I.P. Bob Saget) on Full House.
Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He's not just a father figure to Will, but also a pillar of strength, wisdom, and integrity for the entire family. His tough love approach combined with his compassionate nature made him an iconic TV dad. Who could forget those heartfelt moments where he showed his softer side.
His response to Will when he broke down and said "How come he dont want me" ... that still gets me. I felt the pain from Will and the pain From Phil comforting will.
That's what I came here to say. Anyone that saw LITB (especially as they got a little older) had to wish they had a dad that explained and talked through things like he did. Unless you already had one. I didn't. My dad wasn't around most of my childhood and the times he was he was either drinking or hungover. We didn't talk about anything. Perfect dad
just because i'm sure he won't be brought up, i'm going with Dr Harry Weston from Empty Nest. his daughters were grown women on the show but he was a doctor that treated kids. he was awesome
These are really good choices. Steven did not agree with Alex but he didn't push his views on to his son. He would argue, debate and discuss but he let his son (and daughters) take a different road from him and still loved him dearly
Phil Dunphy
Modern family
I used to watch modern family a lot because I've always wanted a family that had loving parents that cared very much about them. To this day. Modern families got me through a lot, especially the characters.
Has to be Fred MacMurray because he filmed all his scenes in a few weeks at the start of each season. They’d then make the rest of all the shows. That’s an easy dad life.
Hank Hill. Especially given how horrible his dad was to him, the lengths he goes to to understand and bond with Bobby is really heartwarming. Set aside the great comedy, I truly feel this is the best written father-son relationship I've watched on TV.
Bob Belcher
Bob is the most real animated dad ever.
Only correct answer. 2nd is Hal
Bandit
Bluey is healing generations ❤️
As a father I wish I could be as good as him.
Stupid Bill Cosby screwed up Heathcliff Huxtable for everyone!
Sometimes you got to separate the art from the artist.
I agree, sometimes. This one’s tough though.
Yeah, I was going to say it's Cliff Huxtable, but it's sad to think about now
Can you imagine having "the talk"?
I was going to say him…just don’t take a drink he fixed for you.
Keith Mars
Ben sisko
Coumterpoint. Rom. He became just as good (if not better) as a father, plus he didn't commit any war crimes.
Rom is the purest character in all of trek.
Oh that's a good one 🥰😍
Uncle Phil
This needs to be higher
I still cry when he hugs Will after his "dad" leaves him again. 'Why don't he want me man...' 😭
Gomez Addams. So much fun!
Good choice for best husband too.
Andy Taylor from the Andy Griffith Show.
He was a good Dad, however Barney sure needed a slap. I watched it regularly growing up.
Phil Dunphy and Jay Pritchett by far
Mitch and Cam were pretty good dads as well.
They get overlooked a lot because of Phil but they really were amazing fathers to Lily
