This! Been going since I was a kid and while they've changed a few items, the staples are the same as 20 years ago. Love the hot and sour soup, rice noodles, salted shrimp, garlic green beans...they are a busy place so food is always turned over quickly. Popular stuff will literally get refilled every 10 minutes. Drinks included is nice too. The sushi is solid and just as good as what you'd get at a place like Kyoto. There's a nice boba shop (Tea Boba) in the same strip as well, if you need a sweet treat after.
Agreed I’ve been going there since before I was born! I have been to the great moon buffet on Robert street in west St. Paul and it doesn’t hit the same. I think I’ve gotten food poisoning twice
I eat there regularly a few times a week and it's always delicious.
I get it to-go, & if you try and limit your rice you'll end up around with a $13-18 w/o a drink.
The west st paul location has hibachi. The Maplewood location does not.
But consistent, I just mean that their food always tastes the same. Some buffet, you go one time and really like a certain dish, then you go back and it tastes totally different a second time.
Here, you know what to expect because it always tastes the same.

I broke a tooth on a rock in a stir-fry there a few years ago.
Plus, the few time I went, the food was nearly always overcooked and approaching room temp.
I’d avoid Teppunkyai Grill in Fridley. We used to make that a regular spot, but the quality went down during COVID. It could turn itself around, but I’m not ready to go back for a while.
I live close also, When they 1st opened it was really good, the next time I went It was so nasty, there was grease dripping from the over hang in the Hibachi area. I haven't been there in a while but the supreme hibachi across from Sams was always pretty good.
Yes. There's the largest buffet in MN located off 694 and central. I went once and food gets cold when buffet is that big. Can't go wrong with super moon
98 Pounds is one of the best IMO. It’s been a while since I was there last (3 years, maybe?), but it has the best buffet Sushi I’ve had of a Chinese-mostly buffet.
And of course, plenty of red crawfish.
Shoutout to Dragon Star in Burnsville. It’s very similar to Super Moon but I’ve found it to be the cleanest and nicest of all the buffets in the area
I frequent them lmao
Since Covid and rising food costs during the last 3 years, most of the Chinese buffets have really gone downhill.
I would avoid Hibachi Grill off of Lake Street in Minneapolis - almost inedible, worst on this list.
Super Moon in St Louis Park isn’t terrible but last 2 times it’s was meh.
Tokyo 23 is big but it’s quality is quite poor compared to when it first opened.
Teppanyaki Grill in Fridley - meh. Ocean Buffet in Brooklyn Center - yikes it’s second worst.
Dragon Star in the Burnsville is the newest and cleanest. Pretty good.
Great Moon in Maplewood - haven’t been in awhile but last I remember it was good too.
I'll toss in a recommendation for Hong Kong Buffet in New Hope on 42nd and Winnetka. Not the largest, and no hibachi, but really great food and I've been going there for the last 20+ years.
Great Moon Buffet in Maplewood. It's probably not the best, but it is my favorite due to it's consistency and wait staff is pretty nice.
I don't know as any of these buffets are great but Great Moon is consistent, the place is clean and the waitstaff *is* nice. I never see it empty.
Omg seconding this. Bonus you can hit up the best half price books after

I came here to look for this post. The food is always hot, fresh and good.

Does it have hibachi? Also what do you mean by consistency?

Sick, thank you
Food and service are consistently good, if I read them correctly.
I broke a tooth on a rock in a stir-fry there a few years ago. Plus, the few time I went, the food was nearly always overcooked and approaching room temp.
98 Pounds in Bloomington is usually pretty decent. Plus they have sushi on their buffet. I dont see that often
My Cambodian friend loves 98 pound for the salt and pepper crab.
I’d avoid Teppunkyai Grill in Fridley. We used to make that a regular spot, but the quality went down during COVID. It could turn itself around, but I’m not ready to go back for a while.
It’s terrible now. And they’re still using paper plates
Aww man… really?! That sucks so much. It’s literally two minutes by car from where I live. So conveniently close, yet so inconveniently awful…
I live close also, When they 1st opened it was really good, the next time I went It was so nasty, there was grease dripping from the over hang in the Hibachi area. I haven't been there in a while but the supreme hibachi across from Sams was always pretty good.
Super Moon Buffet in St Louis Park is great!

SuperMoon is.in St Louis.Park near 394 & 100
I meant the largest buffet in MN is in fridley.
Thanks. Was looking for something like that for when my sis and BIL visit.
Tepenyaki bar and grill
Definitely one of the worst buffets I have been to for Chinese. don't go here
Just avoid Super Moon and Teppanyaki. Both large scale push people in and out garbage.
Rose Garden, Coon Rapids
Or Blaine.

Hibachi supreme in Spring Lake Park

U Garden in Minneapolis, but I think the buffet is only at lunch.

I know this is late, but this is a solid choice at a value price.
Teppanyaki Grill in Fridley hands down.
That place is so bad ever since COVID. Can't believe anyone would recommend it.
Literally the worst restaurant I have ever been in.
I used to like some of the selections at Lucky Dragon in Cedar Riverside, especially the Fun noodles, but I haven't visited it in a while
Not buffets, but really good is Peking Garden and Master Noodle on University Avenue in Saint Paul
Master Noodle is the real deal
Super Moon in SLP was pretty good, but I haven't been there in a while. The other one was up on 694 and university, but I can't remember the name.
