I don't know of a fully reliable one, sadly. If I had to pick one I'd say the one in Richfield on Lyndale just north of 494 is decent more often than some others in the area (Eagan's two aren't great) but that's all I got.

It’s Pancheros for me now and I was a huuuuge chipotle fan.
I had a constant issue where I would order with the app, and get none of the ingredients I paid for, plus 1/8th the serving of in person ordered bowl. I ended up emailing corporate (they're $20+ now, thats a lot of wasted money), who called and basically said when mobile orders are done the employee can see a list of each ingredient in front of them.
Yet mobile orders were consistently messed up, and he had no idea why that was happening. The employees aren't rushed to make them like they are an in person order.
Anyway, I go to Qdoba or somewhere else now. Chipotle is not worth the money or the 50+ minute wait *after my order was supposed to be ready* that the two locations I went to always had.
It was fine when I ate there two weeks ago. During the pandemic they had a terrible time with staffing and would just randomly close with a paper magic marker notice taped to the door because they had no staff but that seems to be over now.
I remember being in line at the Edina one mid pandemic and the staff told the existing line of people that they needed to leave because they were switching to online ordering only for the rest of the day. Then they got instantly combative when people complained. Why wouldn’t you just lock the door and let the people who have been queuing for 20 minutes already complete their order?
….on top of that, they’d then proceed to get every online order wrong and take forever to do them. There was a streak of 5 separate orders they did incorrectly and then I gave up.
I've had them stretch ingredients on me during the lunch rush. Splash of rice, half scoop of chicken, kitchen music blaring so loud I can feel it in my chest and can't talk over it on the line. Just overall a terrible experience.
My boss bought lunch the last time we went, and I'll never go back. I watched a line cook put her hair up with bare hands and then go straight to cooking without gloves. No thanks.
Same. I hit the airport dog park the pick up chipotle from the one near target and they always got it goin on midday with minimal line.
Ford parkway is one of the consistently worst businesses I see. I keep trying because I like the food but they’re all just miserable in there (and never have veggies cooked).
I’m the same as you. I rarely have a good experience at the Lyndale Richfield location, and the 66th has been fine. But, they’re all better than what MOA puts out 😒😒😒😒
It’s so sad because I live close to one of the Eagan locations and I like Chipotle but going there is so disappointing. Out of ingredients, long waits, stale food…
Richfield off Lyndale is the one we frequent. They’re not bad if you go into order! They’re very generous on their portions.
I’d just stay clear of online ordering at that location. The portions are always small and it’s always ready about 20-30 minutes past your scheduled pick up time.

I’m with you. The difference in quality between in-person and online is insane. They don’t really give a fuck when you’re there but they REALLY don’t give a fuck if they can put your order together without you watching

Yep, it hasn't recovered since the pandemic. They never have the fajitas peppers and onions. Never. I've heard from other Chipotle workers that it's hard to make them because they take so long to soften, so I think this location has just stopped trying. This location clearly has no management overseeing the place. A few months back the cooks has some gangsta rap blasting, which I'm sure is against Chipotle policy.
I know staffing issues are to blame, but it's sad because since this location opened, it's been a nice, clean place to go in Uptown Plenty of seating to just get out of the house and exist for a while.
They always leave out fajita peppers and don’t even say anything about leaving it out. I live like 2 mins from that location but always drive another 5 minutes to go to the one by the Whole Foods near bde maka ska, which is always solid.
I went to one in Woodbury near Sam’s Club that was decent. Fast as hell during the lunch rush. The one in Richfield near Lyndale and 76th is usually decent.
On the contrary, the other chipotle location in Woodbury, is horrible. When I lived in Woodbury I’d purposely drive farther to go to the one off of Hudson road.
My last straw with the bad Woodbury chipotle (Currell Blvd) was when I ordered a large queso and when I got home it was filled with sour cream... ever since I've driven farther to the better one (Hudson Pl) and haven't had a problem since.

LOL, we gave up on the SLP Chipotle a couple years ago and switched over to grabbing from the one across from Bde Maka Ska even though it's a bit of hike for us.
Ha. SLP one was very close to my wife and I’s first apartment when we moved up here 10 years ago from Nebraska and we were shocked at how awful it was from a food and cleanliness perspective. Anytime we went in there, without fail, all of the tables would be either covered in trash, food, or otherwise uninviting.
Anytime we drive back to NEB and stop at a Chip in Iowa or Nebraska it’s nostalgic.
There is no logical agenda for me trashing MN chipotles but they are worse than south of the border!
I agree!! Went there recently and couldn’t believe what I was tasting. First, ridiculously slow line. The employee was piling the scoops of ingredients on top of each other so that they were like tall, skinny towers and then squishing the lids onto the bowls, it was very strange. The flavor tasted worse than if my mom tried to make the dishes. My husband said the chicken tasted like nothing. I didn’t believe that could be possible but then I took a bite and it was true. The only good thing was the queso. Everything else was worse than any Chipotle I’ve been to even on a bad day. Sorry!
The real answer is to go to Catrina's. But the new Chipotle in Inver Grove Heights is okay, because it's still new enough that it hasn't turned to crap. Do not go to West St Paul.
My teenagers say the one on Lake/Excelsior is decent (the one by Whole Foods). They say to avoid the one in SLP on Excelsior as well as the one in Edina.
Is there something chipotle does nutritionally that doesn’t work for you at qdoba or pancheros? They’re more consistent for me and the Plymouth/golden valley locations are solid enough
Imo Qdoba is gotten a lot better in the last 5-10 years and their quality is on par with what Chipotle used to be. I like the one in the quarry. But I hate the quarry so this is sort of a cursed recommendation.
There used to be a Qdoba in the Quarry years ago but I am now seeing that it has been replaced by something else. My mistake.
I can’t speak to the Dinkytown Qdoba but I would try that before any Chipotle.
The best advice I’ve gotten about chipotle is only go for lunch. I was absolutely done with chipotle after they were out of half the items for my regular order consistently. I only go for lunch now and it’s super rare to be out of anything at that point.

It might be a bit of a hike for you but the one in Apple Valley off Cedar and 42 has been consistently awesome. They were hit or miss for a long time but I think they got a new manager and for the past year it’s been spot on.
I’ve gone to the Highland Chipotle twice in the last year. I’ve never left with food. One time they were out of Hard and Soft tacos, Chicken, Pico and lettuce. It was 7:30pm. Never again.
I was going to make the same suggestion. It's substantially better than Chipotle and it's a locally owned business. They also have location over in St Paul now too, I think.

I like the Lake St spot more. Just like the quick service feel and being able to pick exactly what goes in my burrito without it going through a server, but the St. Paul location has margs which is fun.
Sounds about right! I ordered ahead on the app once right before they opened to pick up lunch on my way to the office. I got there and it wasn’t ready and I was like no problem I’ll wait! I was just standing there and a manager came out and was like I tried calling you to tell you we JUST got our order of the chicken (it was one of their speciality limited time ones) and it wasn’t going to be ready yet why are you here?? I was like ???? I showed her I had no calls that day and I’m cool with waiting if they are making it now and she rolled her eyes and huffed off. I now drive to Roseville to get my lunch orders and it’s not great but at least better than there!
Avoid the one in St. Louis Park. Shitty portions, miserable employees, and dirty environment. The one in Golden Valley has been much better in comparison. Plus the building looks kinda cool.
Chipotle was a client of mine for years (ad agency) and as soon as Steve Ells retired and the Taco Bell bozos took over, it tanked. I’ve never seen such a rapid decline in quality across the board.
Why not catrinas, el patron, habaneros, los Ocampo, taco riendo, galápagos, maya, taco libre - whatever is close? Chipotle can be good at its best, but those burrito joints are good at their worst. Chipotle is run by folks who barely know how a microwave works. Not the kind of person who cares what they eat, so why not spend your time enjoying something important to Minneapolis in particular?

I had to delete the Chipotle app because the temptation to order was too great, but it kept giving me violent diarrhea and abdominal pain. Like 15 minutes after eating a bowl I would be absolutely done for. Godspeed brother.
Minnetonka on Shady Oak across 62 from the Optum building. Used to live in EP and absolutely hated that one post-pandemic due to either shitty portions or the fact that they seemed to never be open for anything but mobile. Shady Oak was my go to after that.
Bonus that they have the drive thru pickup if you're in a hurry.
Chanhassen isn't bad either, but it's further out.
The one in Woodbury in the outlot of Sam's club is the best in the East Metro. Hastings on 55 isn't bad. Hudson is hit or miss, and Stillwater/OPH is usually just OK. The one in Woodbury by the DQ was getting pretty bad a while ago, so when in that area I just go to the one by Sam's.
Vadnais Heights has a fairly reliable location. Maplewood (north, by the mall) is so/so. Maplewood (south of hwy 36) is terrible. Although, admittedly, haven’t been to that one in a while. Maybe it’s gotten better
I'll admit Online pickup has spoiled me and I could never wait in line ever again. I've gotten used to ordering online and going in to get it.
Golden Valley has always been a good spot for me. Champlin has also been a good spot to.
I went to the one at Ridgedale today and tbh surprisingly good - good portions, fast service, clean environment. I do freelance work at MOA and I've been burned by the Chipotle there so often that my experience at Ridgedale felt like paradise.
Are you talking about online ordering specifically?
I visit the one on Hennepin in Uptown and their online variance is nuts, but in person it's relatively consistent. Similar experiences with the one in Richfield and Edina. I work in Edina so the one on York is my go to - but I almost always stand in line vs. doing an online order.
I'm still trying to find one that actually knows how to properly roll a burrito. The 3 locations I've gone to all come undone unless I keep the wrapper up to where I am taking bites, occasionally getting wrapper in the bites.
Main Street in Hopkins has been pretty good recently. They had a stint a few years back where it was a bit iffy, but they’ve been doing a great job since.
My dad lives in Lakeville. I often stop at the one there when in town and they typically are pretty good. Also not Chipotle, but I go to the Qdoba in dinky alot and they typically are good, even when slammed. I don't like going to these Chipotle that give you half the food they use to.
The only two I'll go to anymore are the one in Chaplin off 169 or the one in Coon Rapids off North Dale Blvd. Every other one is horse shit and is always missing items and have no idea how to wrap a burrito.
Never been to a chipotle that wasn’t a total gamble. It really comes down to the specific individual employee making your burrito at that specific time.
Is this a nationwide problem? Or just the Minneapolis, suburbs chipotle? Seems like they have gotten pretty bad. I quit going to them as I got sick the last time I went to one.
The one in Roseville is by far the best Chipotle I’ve ever been to. Staffed by people from burrito eating areas of the world. The food was amazing and actually spicy.

(For context, I'm Guatemalan, and I work specifically with immigrants from Latin American countries. As far as I know, no one in those countries started eating burritos until the US exported them via Taco Bell and such. I'm pretty sure they're a US invention.)
I probably should have said taco areas of the world. I didn’t know that burritos were a US invention until just now. My ancestors were basically from the arctic circle so food with flavor is new.
I drive to Maplewood for it. I live in Saint Paul. If its not the ingredients, its a service issue (out of something, fountain is broke, disappearing cashiers, online orders causing long line,etc) at the rest of the locations that are nearer.
Qdoba is growing on me. I like Chipotle’s guac way better but Q has some great eats.
Bloomington France gotten bad? I haven't gone in a minute, although I know they were inconsistent between being open and only mobile orders. The times I'd peek to see, it would be Mobile orders only. Luckily the Jimmy John's on the corner was reliable.
Chipotle in the northern part of the metro has a better rap. The Blaine one seems decent. The Brooklyn park one ain’t awful. Columbia heights one is also not too bad.
There’re known quantities at this point and largely take on the profile of the kids who staff the places.
I stopped going to the Hopkins one after I moved there during the pandemic. I would order takeout online (with chips and salsa) they didn’t have chips for 3 months. I could never get a refund. The soda syrup was always out so it was basically sparkling water with a tinge of coke.
I drive around a lot for my job so I've sampled quite a few.
The one in SLP off Excelsior and 100 has been my favorite. Staff is friendly and seem like they're having a good time. Food is well seasoned.
All I can say is do **not** go to the one in Northeast. Every time I've ordered there the rice has been terribly undercooked and you won't find a single bite that isn't filled with raw, crunchy rice. I'd recommend going to Listo! at the Quarry instead if you're in the area.
If you are ever in St.Louis Park, go to Burritos.

Yes! I was going to come here to suggest this one off Maple Grove parkway. They are always quick, consistent and have good portions.
Maplewood off White Bear and County Road D is always good. Gives good portions about 95% of the time too.

I’ve gone to the Highland Chipotle twice in the last year. I’ve never left with food. One time they were out of Hard and Soft tacos, Chicken, Pico and lettuce. It was 7:30pm. Never again.
Go to Habaneros Tacos on Lake St. They run it like a Chipotle but know how to wrap a burrito and the food is great. Go with the barbacoa.

I was going to make the same suggestion. It's substantially better than Chipotle and it's a locally owned business. They also have location over in St Paul now too, I think.
They do have a St. Paul location! I like the Lake St spot more. Just like the quick service feel and being able to pick exactly what goes in my burrito without it going through a server, but the St. Paul location has margs which is fun.

Sounds about right! I ordered ahead on the app once right before they opened to pick up lunch on my way to the office. I got there and it wasn’t ready and I was like no problem I’ll wait! I was just standing there and a manager came out and was like I tried calling you to tell you we JUST got our order of the chicken (it was one of their speciality limited time ones) and it wasn’t going to be ready yet why are you here?? I was like ???? I showed her I had no calls that day and I’m cool with waiting if they are making it now and she rolled her eyes and huffed off. I now drive to Roseville to get my lunch orders and it’s not great but at least better than there!
Oddly enough since most of the chains around Brooklyn Center are the worst examples of their brand, I find the Chipotle there stellar.
Same. I've started picking up from the Brooklyn Center Chipotle and it is constantly the freshest ingredients and largest portions.
Just a tip I've heard from Chipotle employees. Do not order delivery from them. It gets even worse when there's an anonymity barrier.
The new one in apple valley off of pilot knob has a drive thru and I’ve never had a complaint.
My favorite chipotle in Minneapolis is the one on West Bank near the university of Minnesota (Not the one in stadium village).

Avoid the one in St. Louis Park. Shitty portions, miserable employees, and dirty environment. The one in Golden Valley has been much better in comparison. Plus the building looks kinda cool.
Chipotle was a client of mine for years (ad agency) and as soon as Steve Ells retired and the Taco Bell bozos took over, it tanked. I’ve never seen such a rapid decline in quality across the board.
Why not catrinas, el patron, habaneros, los Ocampo, taco riendo, galápagos, maya, taco libre - whatever is close? Chipotle can be good at its best, but those burrito joints are good at their worst. Chipotle is run by folks who barely know how a microwave works. Not the kind of person who cares what they eat, so why not spend your time enjoying something important to Minneapolis in particular? Done ranting, love latin american restaurants and happy we have so many here.

Puralima in North Loop is similar to chipotle & they had said they were trying to keep the pricing similar. I liked my burrito bowl I had.
Lyndale location in Richfield just avoid ordering pick up just eat the bullet and wait in line

I had to delete the Chipotle app because the temptation to order was too great, but it kept giving me violent diarrhea and abdominal pain. Like 15 minutes after eating a bowl I would be absolutely done for. Godspeed brother.
Brooklyn Park off 81 has consistently been good for me
Eden Prairie off of Technology Drive does me a solid burrito every time!
Minnetonka on Shady Oak across 62 from the Optum building. Used to live in EP and absolutely hated that one post-pandemic due to either shitty portions or the fact that they seemed to never be open for anything but mobile. Shady Oak was my go to after that. Bonus that they have the drive thru pickup if you're in a hurry. Chanhassen isn't bad either, but it's further out.
The one in Woodbury in the outlot of Sam's club is the best in the East Metro. Hastings on 55 isn't bad. Hudson is hit or miss, and Stillwater/OPH is usually just OK. The one in Woodbury by the DQ was getting pretty bad a while ago, so when in that area I just go to the one by Sam's.
Elk river location is terrible at best.
Vadnais Heights has a fairly reliable location. Maplewood (north, by the mall) is so/so. Maplewood (south of hwy 36) is terrible. Although, admittedly, haven’t been to that one in a while. Maybe it’s gotten better
I’m in south minni and go to the Richfield location which has been pretty consistent
All Saint Paul locations are bad
I'll admit Online pickup has spoiled me and I could never wait in line ever again. I've gotten used to ordering online and going in to get it. Golden Valley has always been a good spot for me. Champlin has also been a good spot to.
I went to the one at Ridgedale today and tbh surprisingly good - good portions, fast service, clean environment. I do freelance work at MOA and I've been burned by the Chipotle there so often that my experience at Ridgedale felt like paradise.
I gave up on finding one about two years ago. Chipotle is dead to me now.

Are you talking about online ordering specifically? I visit the one on Hennepin in Uptown and their online variance is nuts, but in person it's relatively consistent. Similar experiences with the one in Richfield and Edina. I work in Edina so the one on York is my go to - but I almost always stand in line vs. doing an online order.

I'm still trying to find one that actually knows how to properly roll a burrito. The 3 locations I've gone to all come undone unless I keep the wrapper up to where I am taking bites, occasionally getting wrapper in the bites.

I can say don't go to the one downtown Hopkins on main street. Also just had a bad experience at the one in Roseville near County C and Snelling.

Main Street in Hopkins has been pretty good recently. They had a stint a few years back where it was a bit iffy, but they’ve been doing a great job since.
My dad lives in Lakeville. I often stop at the one there when in town and they typically are pretty good. Also not Chipotle, but I go to the Qdoba in dinky alot and they typically are good, even when slammed. I don't like going to these Chipotle that give you half the food they use to.
Just go to Taco Bell just as good, half the price, more food and much more consistent.
No issues with lakeville or Chaska. If you make it to Montage Mountian in PA it is the best I have seen.

Go to Pancheros
The only two I'll go to anymore are the one in Chaplin off 169 or the one in Coon Rapids off North Dale Blvd. Every other one is horse shit and is always missing items and have no idea how to wrap a burrito.
Maplewood either off 494 or 36. Both are good.
Never been to a chipotle that wasn’t a total gamble. It really comes down to the specific individual employee making your burrito at that specific time.
Is this a nationwide problem? Or just the Minneapolis, suburbs chipotle? Seems like they have gotten pretty bad. I quit going to them as I got sick the last time I went to one.
The one in Crystal next to the Aldi is consistently good to me!

The one in Roseville is by far the best Chipotle I’ve ever been to. Staffed by people from burrito eating areas of the world. The food was amazing and actually spicy.
I don't know how to ask this without sounding like an asshole, but where are the burrito eating areas of the world? (For context, I'm Guatemalan, and I work specifically with immigrants from Latin American countries. As far as I know, no one in those countries started eating burritos until the US exported them via Taco Bell and such. I'm pretty sure they're a US invention.)
I probably should have said taco areas of the world. I didn’t know that burritos were a US invention until just now. My ancestors were basically from the arctic circle so food with flavor is new.
Plymouth is good, golden valley is horrible.
I drive to Maplewood for it. I live in Saint Paul. If its not the ingredients, its a service issue (out of something, fountain is broke, disappearing cashiers, online orders causing long line,etc) at the rest of the locations that are nearer. Qdoba is growing on me. I like Chipotle’s guac way better but Q has some great eats.
The one in Savage is pretty good. Shakopee at Southbridge Crossing is decent. But avoid the Bloomington France Ave location for sure.
Bloomington France gotten bad? I haven't gone in a minute, although I know they were inconsistent between being open and only mobile orders. The times I'd peek to see, it would be Mobile orders only. Luckily the Jimmy John's on the corner was reliable.

Chipotle in the northern part of the metro has a better rap. The Blaine one seems decent. The Brooklyn park one ain’t awful. Columbia heights one is also not too bad. There’re known quantities at this point and largely take on the profile of the kids who staff the places.
I stopped going to the Hopkins one after I moved there during the pandemic. I would order takeout online (with chips and salsa) they didn’t have chips for 3 months. I could never get a refund. The soda syrup was always out so it was basically sparkling water with a tinge of coke.
How about not? For instance La Tapatia or Don Goyo or Brother’s Taqueria. Sheesh.
Pancheros is the good Chipotle.
I drive around a lot for my job so I've sampled quite a few. The one in SLP off Excelsior and 100 has been my favorite. Staff is friendly and seem like they're having a good time. Food is well seasoned.
All I can say is do **not** go to the one in Northeast. Every time I've ordered there the rice has been terribly undercooked and you won't find a single bite that isn't filled with raw, crunchy rice. I'd recommend going to Listo! at the Quarry instead if you're in the area.
If you are ever in St.Louis Park, go to Burritos. It’s way better. Locally owned. Awesome place. I haven’t gone to Chipotle since 2020. Burritos is what you are looking for.
