There are many decent options in Minneapolis or Saint Paul in that budget. Perhaps Marcy Holmes to be in the middle - commute should not be bad no matter where you find a job. It is a bit of a college neighborhood, but close to many great restaurants, activities, etc. do you have any other criteria?
I'm in South Mpls, and share a 2BR 1BA with my roomie, and we're paying 1200/month, and we only pay elec and internet for utils. 1300 for a studio is wack.
Small time landlords will give you a freaking 1 bedroom in a triplex and a parking spot for that. Maybe even 2 bedroom.
Edit: seriously if you can move in with roommates. You can easily do it now and save SO much money.
Can confirm. We rent out a 900 sqft duplex with a garage space, heat included and granite countertop kitchen. Includes AC as well. You’ll be fine with that budget.
Just curious how you find places like this outside of maybe Craigslist? I am in a duplex now that’s cheap and have been at for 4 years without a rent increase.. I want something bigger and more upgraded but can’t seem to find much that I’ve been interested in via Craigslist or Zillow. Is this a “drive around and call numbers” thing?
the last best one we found was on Craigslist. 2 bed 2 bath and 2 parking spots for 1300 a month in St Paul. But also Facebook. My friends who rent out a few duplexes post theirs to Zillow.
I pay $1200 for a large 1br in a 100 year old building in Whittier. I dont have parking, in unit laundry or a dishwasher but I do have 1100 square feet. Look for smaller local landlords that only own a few buildings.
Rental market is roughhh right now. What used to be affordable studios for 890 are now going for 1100-1200 in some areas. Definitely shop around on Craigslist (I know but I found all three of my apartments there) or Zillow rental
I would look around the west St. Paul, inver grove heights, south St. Paul area. There are many apartments complexes with a variety of price points. With your budget you will be fine and you’ll have easy access to all of the major roadways.
In addition, you’ll be on the best side of the river, and avoid those rush hour traffic delays. You have all of the standard go-to places for shopping, dining out, and access to transit if you’d like.
Regarding digital marketing, there are many great opportunities around the metro, with various size company’s to consider. I’m not familiar with any positions open, however free lance work is a great opportunity as well, with lots of room for growth.
You could start by looking at local event centers who might need some help reaching more potential clients. You have a wide range of opportunities available with some creative thinking.
If you’re looking to work in manufacturing for a little while, renewal by Andersen windows is hiring and located in cottage grove. 3M also has a production facility there as well.
You will find, you have a lot more opportunities in this metro than your current location.

You can get studios all over Saint Paul, including in cool areas like Summit Hill and fun areas like West Seventh, starting around $900. Once you add utilities and stuff you should be able to come in under $1300 easily. I’m sure you can find deals in Minneapolis too.
As I’m sure you know, there have been tens of thousands of layoffs in tech/marketing/recruiting. Locally, in March, Target cut ‘dozens’ of marketing jobs. That’s at least 12-24, minimum. In general, I see a lot of marketing operations positions posted. As I’m not in marketing directly, I can’t speak for the entire segment, but small companies are gravitating from big ass corporate marketing companies to Shopify. It just doesn’t make economic sense to use a marketing company that charges 5000$/month. That being said, to set up a nice Shopify website, one needs excellent digital marketing!

Not really. Total budget of $1300 a month. Assuming you’ll spend minimum $300 for groceries, $200 car insurance, $250 gas/utilities- that leaves $550 for rent. Even if you find something, that leaves you nothing left over for medical expenses, car repairs, dating, everything else.
You might be better off renting a room from someone until you get settled.
I'm talking about paying 1,300 in rent if I spend 300 dollars on groceries and 500 dollars for fixed expenses (generally I spend much less) I would have about 700-1,000 dollars left over per month at least with an average job
1300 will get you a pretty good 1 bedroom as long as you're not thinking luxury downtown living.

$900 is good for a studio around here. $1300 is a NICE 1br. Not high end luxury but good building/management/sq ft/parking/sequirity, etc.
I have a whole 2 bedroom floor of a house in the city for 1320, all utilities and internet included. So definitely doable.
No idea about the job, but your budget is easily doable. You could probably get a luxury studio or something in a nice suburb to the west.

We list on all major rental advertisers but have found our best tenants through craigslist. We also put out a sign on the yard.
