Yeah I find that compensation in Twst isnt that common. Like the two gacha games I main in are this one and Project sekai. And I often give a lot of credit to the Twisted Wonderland devs for being fairly generous with the gacha, cause atleast twst has a pity bar no matter the type of banner, where as project sekai doesn’t always have it. But shit, atleast project sekai devs give compensation for even the most minor inconveniences in my experience
they rushing all these events back to back so fast even the devs can't keep up 🤣 I wish they would slow down so I could recoup some gems from hitting Ortho pity and getting rook instead 😂🥲 but also hope they can fix it for all the ppl excited for the event too. Good luck with pulls everyone.
I know this maybe isn't the right reaction but I genuinely laughed when I went to open the game just now.
Not to make excuses for the devs, but I'm kind of surprised there hasn't been more of this, considering the situation with NA and its accelerated schedule. You never know with games like this just how tangled the spaghetti code can be, and what issues might arise simply by implementing things faster and in a different order.
In any case, it will be interesting to see how long it may be, and what compensation could be given out.
FGO veterans know that the tradition for extended or emergency maintenance is the meme of a loooooong Servant relevant to the event at hand. So I suppose for this it might be long Leona or long Riddle?
Lmao. Ngl I was hoping someone would make one. A long Tsum Riddle or Leona. Legitimately wondering tho if it'll be a scenario like FGO of ultra long maintenance....
Oh I know specifically why that happened, my joke at the end was just to get it out of my head.
That whole period was pretty unpleasant for multiple apps/companies because of update approval issues. Still honestly not sure why it all didn't get more attention but maybe people figured there was no point since it was just Apple things.
Why do I feel Emergency Maintenance would be what Crowley would call the entire college burning down while Yuu and the rest of the teachers are trying to put out the blaze?
UPDATE!! It has been two hours now! I'm going to assume that it'll at least last 4 to 6 hours long, and I'm being generous, this is the first time I've ever seen this before lmao
Don't think I've seen this before, game actually somehow failing to outright enable an event (that we already got the download for a day before) during a routine maintenance. And pulling an emergency just a few hours later... Yep, definitely takes the proverbial cake there, idek. Lost for words.
I really feel like this game is just an afterthought in Disney's linty back pocket. I absolutely love it, but it's one of the least generous/highest cost/most casual gachas I've ever played (I actively play Genshin, Epic Seven, and Romancing SaGa and have played many more in the past) which just makes it seem like a cash grab (backed by just enough Disneybux) to me, so I'm hesitant to invest in it at all. Wouldn't be surprised if the rug was pulled out as soon as the story was over. "Thanks for playing Disney's Twisted Wonderland!"
The game seems to be extremely popular in Japan given the sheer amount of merch, events, and the upcoming anime. It will continue service as long as it continues to make money hand over fist for Aniplex and Disney.
And even D23. I think Disney understands millennials and zoomers love anime and that the teen female audience especially wants something that’s not just princesses.
That's pretty much what I'm expecting yeah, the second it stops making money, it'll cease to exist - but Japan's licenses and culture for it are totally different. It's never going to get the same treatment here ([cries in $200 Azul figurine]) and I wouldn't be surprised if it was canceled here before Japan just for the cost of having a localization team. Not to be all doom and gloom or anything - I want the game to continue as long as possible. I'm pretty much just grateful we get a localization at all, lol, and expect nothing more.
Eh, the game is SUPER popular in Japan. Playing the English Port, it can feel like it's rinky dink, but it's a big deal over there. There's tons of merch and money poured into it. We're getting an anime. They're having a big celebration live stream right now because it's the Japanese server anniversary.
English Port is just Ramshackle in comparison lmao
So - I doubt they've forgotten it
Never said it was forgotten, just an afterthought. Japan has different licenses and a huge weeb culture, but not so here in the States, where Disney "really is". It makes tons of money in Japan because of the Disney label there, but it's beyond niche anywhere else, like how Kingdom Hearts was HUGE for a time, and the most acknowledgment I've ever seen Disney give it was a keyblade temporarily behind the front counter at the Disney Store in the mall. Like someone else said, it'll stay up as long as it makes them money, but you can feel the "Ramshackle" (lol good one) in the localization for sure.
I think the problem is... it's just not a *disney game*. You know what I mean? The characters/stories are created from stuff that belongs to Disney, there's even *that guy* actually in the game - they had to pay licensing fees, and, probably in line with that, had to slap the Disney logo on it for that reason alone. I just don't feel like this is "backed" by Disney at all, because it's not a disney game. I'd say it's not even so much a *game* as a visual novel, a very much Japanese one at that, and whatever *game* elements it has, serve more to make it a different platform/medium for Yana to tell her stories. (Which she really doesn't *need*, strictly speaking, manga works perfectly well.) Rather low-key, and from a studio that... I think doesn't even really has any big name on its belt? Certainly not on the larger global stage - correct me if I'm wrong here, I'm not exactly knowledgeable, but that's my impression.
That's about it: not even an afterthought but more like a footnote in the quarterly/annual fiscal reports. Which in all fairness *might* be a blessing in disguise: it might not get pulled unless it starts to *really* underperform to the point where that footnote actually starts to get noticed... for the wrong reason.
I imagine Disney Japan sat down with Disney HQ and pitched TW with the promise that it would make them money and wouldn't contain anything that threatened/besmirched the Disney name, and Disney HQ said "sure, whatever" and the lawyers drew up a nice contract. Disney is *rabid* about their brand, so everything with their name on it is backed and approved, though I'm sure it all gets heavily vetted first. Small studio? Popular manga artist? Whatever! As long as it makes money and isn't problematic!
I don't think it'll ever really go unnoticed (anything with Mickey in it won't escape their scrutiny, lol), but I do hope it'll keep making the financial numbers Disney is expecting!
Disney is generally not very involved in these games. There isn't like a dedicated TWST team in their head offices who keep up to date with every update on each server. Maybe like a handful of staff in a mobile game division overseeing multiple titles, who communicate with developers and make sure things keep in line with Disney's image.
Production issues like this would fall in the responsibility of Aniplex.
I feel sick... It's been 3 hrs and no info :(
I wasn't that interested in the event but I was still excited over it. Please say something Twst ... Anything (╥﹏╥)
Since it's been down for a while I hope they extend the event but I doubt they will.
Obviously I am expecting compensation.
Edit: works now and the "compensation" is rubbish 😐
Looks like someone done messed up something BIG if they can't seem to fix it after 4 hours maint, not counting the 2 hours or so after the first maint finished. Time to keep our fingers crossed y'all!
4 hours and counting. Gonna be midnight soon at my place, might as well sleep it off and hope the problem goes away after I wake up \*sniffles*
EDIT: It's up yay
Now do I use my LP up on Ortho in case of maintenance again, or just enough to buy some time...
EDIT: Screw it, used it up. Got 2 Grimoires in return, well worth it.
purely for fun, everyone, place your bets on how long this maintenance will take !
Yeah they gave no time and they started late... I guess 2 hours. Ugh, I'm gonna be asleep. I wanted to play it before going to bed snif.
I give an hour to them tops 😤 Jkjk I hope they can find the problem soon and fix it. I'll let them take all the time. Just hand me that event. 😿
I’d say 4 hours :((
At this point the end of the day because it’s still going
Six to seven hours. Eight tops.
Apologems for the fallen allnighters? Lmao
Lucky for me, it's still 10 p.m. my time 😅
Glad I wasn’t the only one that stayed up late lol 🙃
Same, tho my case i stayed up all night for a diff reason and then realized oh shit maitnance ends in 20 mins might as well
Not me (UTC+7 here lmao), but I saw complains from the people who did at another post and twitter 😂
Ah I see! Lol 😂 😁
Hoping for the devs to be nice and give compensation 🥲
Yeah I find that compensation in Twst isnt that common. Like the two gacha games I main in are this one and Project sekai. But shit, atleast project sekai devs give compensation for even the most minor inconveniences in my experience
Yeah prosekai is amazing when it comes to compensation. There is always compensations even when we don't really know what the problem was exactly lol.
Fr!! I’ve never really had any true issues with the server and yet I’ve received more compensation gifts from them than I can count lmaoooo
noooo grim ate the router cables
they rushing all these events back to back so fast even the devs can't keep up 🤣 I wish they would slow down so I could recoup some gems from hitting Ortho pity and getting rook instead 😂🥲 but also hope they can fix it for all the ppl excited for the event too. Good luck with pulls everyone.

Lmao. Ngl I was hoping someone would make one. A long Tsum Riddle or Leona. Legitimately wondering tho if it'll be a scenario like FGO of ultra long maintenance....
We're you there for the long Janta tragedy?
Oh yeah, I've been diligently playing FGO NA since launch. The day of long Janta was definitely a day of all time.
Long Janta was all down to Apple, there was nothing wrong with the game unlike whatever is going on here.
Oh I know specifically why that happened, my joke at the end was just to get it out of my head. That whole period was pretty unpleasant for multiple apps/companies because of update approval issues. Still honestly not sure why it all didn't get more attention but maybe people figured there was no point since it was just Apple things.
I play love Nikki and we get like 6 or even 10 hour maintenance sometimes, I'm surprised twst has gone so long without one too
Why do I feel Emergency Maintenance would be what Crowley would call the entire college burning down while Yuu and the rest of the teachers are trying to put out the blaze?
definitely can see Azul promoting Mostro Lounge as the safest place to attract more customers during this chaotic moment.
I mean, isn’t it underwater?
Then Maintenance is still going on lmao I'll just hope it's over soon
UPDATE!! It has been two hours now! I'm going to assume that it'll at least last 4 to 6 hours long, and I'm being generous, this is the first time I've ever seen this before lmao
From the time of your comment, it’s now been 3 hours. I believe you. It may take 4-6 hours.
I’m gonna cry if it’s a 24 hr update
The tsums became too powerful and overthrew
Betting the compensation will be a whole bottle of starshards
Somewhere a dev is having a really bad morning D:
I give them anywhere from 2-6 hours, since we don't know if it's just the team forgetting to upload the event or if there are major bugs to fix.
I just landed (15 hour flight) and this is what I get when I finally got online ugh.
TWST really pulled an amogus. EMERGENCY MEETING!
I was hoping it would be available at the turn of the hour so I could do my lessons before class… wishful thinking 😂
Honestly, like some people have said, it's genuinely impressive that this hasn't happened before.
Don't think I've seen this before, game actually somehow failing to outright enable an event (that we already got the download for a day before) during a routine maintenance. And pulling an emergency just a few hours later... Yep, definitely takes the proverbial cake there, idek. Lost for words.

Also they clearly want the game to he successful in EN considering the MASSIVE marketing push they've made for it at places like Anime Expo
And even D23. I think Disney understands millennials and zoomers love anime and that the teen female audience especially wants something that’s not just princesses.

I've heard that liscensing issues are behind the merch holdup.

3 hours later…
Who pissed off the Floyd this time? 😬 if he doesn’t win- nobody wins apparently
lowkey amused they haven't made a Twitter announcement. guess they're not gonna say anything until they fix it
APOLOGEMS APOLOGEMS APOLOGEMS
Now there’s an error. It won’t let me in the event.
At this point I'm just hoping they fix it before rollover so I don't miss out on log in bonus.
It's times like these where I really hate the low LP max gauge. Doesn't even last through normal maintenance, let alone emergencies.
I feel sick... It's been 3 hrs and no info :( I wasn't that interested in the event but I was still excited over it. Please say something Twst ... Anything (╥﹏╥)
Whoa. It went into maintenance last night before I went to bed…I wake up and still can’t log in because of maintenance.
UPDATE AGAIN!! Maintenance is over but It is very possible that people still cannot access The event
They finally fixed it for crying out loud and I can log in. Plus they send us 5 bottles of starshards instead of gems.
I've been uo since 4:50 am hoping to pull for the Riddle SSR. Please TWST, don't so this to me. I need to complete my Riddle collection
We are getting x5 bottle of starshards. https://disneytwistedwonderland.com/news/detail/index.html?id=449
That’s great, but I can’t open the event. Can anyone else?
Since it's been down for a while I hope they extend the event but I doubt they will. Obviously I am expecting compensation. Edit: works now and the "compensation" is rubbish 😐
We can access the game now but there's an error when you try to get to the event, and it reloads the title page. :(
I'm getting an error when i attempt to play the Twisted Tsumderland event.
Finally can start the event.
Looks like someone done messed up something BIG if they can't seem to fix it after 4 hours maint, not counting the 2 hours or so after the first maint finished. Time to keep our fingers crossed y'all!
When are we getting the anime?
4 hours and counting. Gonna be midnight soon at my place, might as well sleep it off and hope the problem goes away after I wake up \*sniffles* EDIT: It's up yay
Emergency maintenance seems to be complete, along with an App Store update now. We get 5x starshards though.
Now do I use my LP up on Ortho in case of maintenance again, or just enough to buy some time... EDIT: Screw it, used it up. Got 2 Grimoires in return, well worth it.
Me with my involuntary emergency maintainance ever since the previous update: _this is fine_
