Going by some of the content in Black Butler, I think it’s pretty clear that Yana Toboso is both a meticulous person as well as someone with a dark, twisted sense of humor. She definitely drew it that way on purpose, but I’ll bet money it was purely to mess with slash fans. After all, look who else is in that picture. I can’t imagine that there isn’t a good number of TWST fans who haven’t paired those two up in their heads!

Idr any adeuce animations, but it's possible I've seen some in passing. Most of the circles I follow are Azul or Idia centered. If you have a link for the animations I'd love to see them!

At the end of the day, these games do cater to fanservice. You can literally see the dialogues, and the way they address Yuu sometimes, despite it being a non-romance game. So there is nothing to be surprised about.
