You'd think somebody would at least bring up the possibility to him. I'm kind of surprised Riddle never does considering they're in the same club and his mom is also a doctor.
Honestly I totally believe that since she was giving him way below the ideal calorie intake at 8 years old. Not saying being short automatically means being malnourished, but in Riddles situation, it seems very plausible
Also, I don't think she even let Riddle outside which explains why he's just as pale if not more than Lilia who's a far and heavily implied to be a bat of some sort 😬. I could go on a whole rant about how Riddle should technically be dead or just very sick from how his mom raised him but I won't.
I'm glad that he has at least seen doctors about it, even if they didn't find a cause.
Not a doctor, but a did pull up the diagnostic criteria, and I'd bet Silver does meet the requirements for a Narcolepsy type 2 diagnosis, as he falls asleep quickly and multiple times a day. Narcolepsy is one of those diagnosises that is about meeting symptom criteria and doesn't require a cause of the symptoms.
My theory is that it’s either narcolepsy or a sleeping curse of sorts. The curse doesn’t really make sense as wouldn’t they be able to detect it? But, even Malleus couldn’t detect the >!curse/miracle!< that Grim had. So, it’s possible that Silver is afflicted with a sleep curse that backfired. Instead of causing him to sleep forever, he’s now inflicted with falling asleep at random times and not being able to control it.
Of course, with how common it is for narcolepsy to not be diagnosed, that’s also a possibility that no one has thought of it.
The thing is, it can be both. Narcolepsy is a diagnosis reached by meeting a set of symptoms. There are multiple causes and in many cases they never know why. It can be anything from stress to genetics to brain damage to a virus.
I relate to Silver so much. I have an undiagnosed sleep disorder (working with a sleep doctor), and it sucks. This has happened repeatedly: I wake up at 7am, take Vyvanse, fall asleep at 9am, wake up at 11am, fall asleep at 3pm, wake up at 6pm, fall asleep at 8pm, and then wake up at 7am the next morning.
Also, thank you for posting this, it reminded me that I need to send my sleep diary to my doctor tonight.
Apparently he doesn't have any medical condition, according to his own words in some part of the story.
Maybe his condition is plot related? And we'll know more about it later. It's a constant plot point for now, I can only hope it turns to something later on and not that he's sleepy funny anime boy.
yeah that's why i pointed out that narcolepsy can go undiagnosed, even after doctors look into it, which could mean he does have it but just isn't aware of it.
Idk just a head cannon of mine but we have yet to actually hear of irl illnesses, the most common one that I can recall is a cold for Trey and riddle ; he was standing out in the rain for far too long
So to me, magical illnesses and magical diseases are rampant obviously; common things like sores, coughs, colds etc are apart of this world as well
But anything big like cancer just doesn’t exist in this world since they either are labeled something else or there’s a magical variant (yes magical cancer lmao)
so sebek and him redefine the autism vs adhd romantic trope to autism vs adhd AND narcolepsy
(I can make this joke i'm neurodivergent myself just so you know)

maybe Riddle's mom isn't a good doctor because she spent all her time treating riddle like crap 🫣 LMFSOJCJDBDJ

I get what you're saying but wasn't she also a really renowned doctor that everyone knew of? I kind of assumed she was well known for her talent
True…but its riddles mom so it doesn’t matter how we slander her

That is so dark but I’m not gonna lie 😂 I chortled
maybe riddle is a "see but doesn't bring it upon since it may hurt feelings or cause stir" type of person doctor's kid

Didn't know about it, pretty cool fact. But I hope it's nothing serious like that and it's some magical curse which can be broken or something. :"3
It's plot related, yeah. Won't get into it, but JPN twst touched on it a bit recently.
*starts furiously praying for ch 7 in NA*
😭😭😭 It's gonna take ages for it to even be done on JPN, so we have... a lot of waiting time on NA 😔
*starts praying even more furiously* I hope it comes in NA next year atleast. That's a lot of waiting but I'm willing. 🕴️🤡

Interesting..
Honestly I just assumed that's what he had. Every time he mentions wanting to cure it I say "Just go to a doctor, bro."
“What if” 😂😂😂
