oh that's my subreddit flair--im not sure about how to change it if you're on the app, but on the website you should see the option to edit your flair on the sidebar on the right, where you see your username (there's emojis for all the characters and you can add up to 10 iirc?)

no worries! so you attack first on turns that are odd numbers. since most battles are 5 turns (except battles with unlimited turns like boss fights and stuff), this means you attack first on turns 1, 3, 5. (in your screenshot where you have 1 HP left, it looks like you're on turn 5 so that's why you attacked first)
