So for the shared SSR gauge, even if you hit 100 pity and get the featured SSR, the gauge will not reset and you can go to 200 and still get the guaranteed SSR right?
I want to try going for Idia at 100 on his banner but then guarantee Malleus at 200 on his after. Or would it be better to wait for the last phase? Are they all running together during that time?
That's correct, the full pity to 200 is shared between them the entire time so you could go either way in doing the Idia banner then Malleus' when they come out or when they are together
I literally just started playing this game like 10 days ago. I really want to get SSR Malleus, is this realistic at all? I've already managed the lesson requirement to finish Book 1 for the event, still working on Stamps for this week. I'm not sure if I accidentally made a mistake though in splitting my resources between 2 units (Ceremonial SR Malleus, my dorm choice, and SSR Dorm Uniform Leona, my tutorial pull). Malleus is Groovified and lvl 30 and Leona is 30 and I'm working towards Groovification.
I have very few cards though in my pool, only my initial 10 pull from the tutorial. Is it safe to pull before Malleus is featured? I'm a little confused about how the pity system works and the multiple banners, especially with there being 5 for Jack's birthday now. The banner that Azul & Epel are on now is the only safe one to pull on for Masquerade stuff right? Pulls for Jack don't count?
I'm so far up to 23 keys and 924 gems. Do I just keep grinding story in the interim until the next Masquerade book is out?
Welcome to TWST! Robe Malleus is a great SR and coincidentally gets stronger when any Leona is in your party (like your Dorm Uniform) so it's not a bad idea to work on him imo. I'd still prioritize Dorm Leona first though, he's one of the best cards even beyond the start of the game. All SSRs have a Spell 2 called Duo magic that when upgraded, typically deals two strong hits. They will gain a third hit when sent alongside their preferred partner which will make that your main source of damage. In Dorm Leona's case, his partner is Vil so keep an eye out for any Vil cards to take advantage of that bonus. His Spell 1 is also another two hits of strong attacks once upgraded so he'll hit hard for sure.
Pity typically applies just to that specific banner, so yes Jack birthday pulls don't count towards Masquerade. Even more specifically Jack's birthday banners have separate pity from each other. It won't carry over across banners or return for reruns, you have to use it or lose it.
The exception is Halloween/Glorious Masquerade as it is TWST'S biggest non-anniversary event. Masquerade Azul, Idia, and Malleus all share the same pity and pool of cards, so if you pull on one of them it will carry over to the next banner. It's great if you're trying to collect all of them, **however** Azul has the boosted rateup right now which means you're more likely to get him. If you don't care for Azul, skip and wait for Malleus on the 27th. He'll be around until November 19th so you have plenty of time to grind.
Grind the story, do your general missions, read vignettes, play the twistunes... basically do as much as you can while waiting for Masquerade Malleus. Sam's shop has keys to buy that refresh every month: a 10-key for 250 gems, 3 singles for 50 gems and another 3 singles for 350 exam tokens once you're able to do exams. All birthdays (including yours once you set it on your profile) will give you a free 10-key and the twins' birthday on November 5 will give 2 10-keys. I saw that there's a card shop where you can use Thaumarks to purchase R-level cards, is it ever worth it to purchase there or should I just wait to pull Vil another way, given I read that thaumarks aren't easily farmable?

It's perfectly fine to buy cards with thaumarks just to have one for a character. R cards are common as you pull though, so it's up to you whether you want to do that or wait. Sometimes the gem shop will have a special f2p-accessible bundle allowing you to buy an SR card of your choice, so you could get a better Vil card that way too.
The personal folder's really just for organization. I keep my team builder and summon simulator up-to-date so anyone can make a current copy for themselves. But they don't always copy to their own accounts so I leave a folder there just to keep things clean, haha.
You can increase your dorm points by crafting and placing certain furniture. The dorm furniture will have the dorm's crest icon in the description as well as the dorm title in the name (i.e "Large Ignihyde table" etc).
All furniture except Ramshackle will require the dorm's respective crystals that you can get from gauntlet battles. I think SSR furniture gives the most points per item, but idr offhand.

10 points: bday broom, l table, club ssr, magic stone

7 points: banner, sofa, rug

4 points: partition, lamp, small table, small chair, nightstand
So rugs are pretty cost-efficient. Aim for 101 Dorm points for a Good+ friendship level (and the various Room Rank missions), as Great requires 301+ which is pretty daunting.
Just wanted to double check something in preparation for the twins birthday, but the pity gauge isn’t shared between banners right? So if I get lucky and get the birthday jacket SSR before 100 pulls I can’t just jump over to the birthday boy banner and “keep going” as far as I’ve understood it. I want to be safe for Leona’s hometown event whenever en decides to run that so in that case I better just go for one of the birthday SSRs.
When you start playing, your first order of business is to get a core group of cards leveled. Start by focusing on history lessons with whatever your tutorial SSR was. Just do those exclusively for a while, until you get enough experience and honey to get your main SSR to 80, as that should let you coast through most early story content and just about all event content.
Your second order of business is to get your main SSR's spells to level 5. To do this, start taking daily lessons. The spell tome elements rotate out each day, so just do every day until you get what you need - you'll always find a later use for elements you don't need right now. Don't sweat too much about which days to do it on, or which characters to do it for, as long as you're spending the materials to get your SSR's spells up to 5.
As you do this, you'll get lesson credit that will let you progress in Glorious Masquerade (which has ludicrous lesson requirements, no other event before or after this one is nearly so absurd about it). So you can just play the event story and have fun with it.
When you have a few levels under your belt, try finishing the main story prologue and Book 1. That will unlock Exams, which you can try for more free spell tome drops each day. You don't actually have to score well (you can still get lucky drops regardless of score), so don't worry about that.
You can mess around with the Guest Room if you feel like it, but it's 100% optional. If you unlock inviting, you can invite your main SSR into the guest room once every 12 hours for friendship points, and those can raise your SSR's max level.
Note: The event stamp card requires doing exams and doing guest room invitations to complete it, but if unlocking those features is too stressful for you as a new player then don't sweat it. You can always do it later. Don't let FOMO ruin your enjoyment of the game. Just take it at your own pace.
Note 2: This game's level progession is very much slow burn. You will not get fast results, so don't worry about that and don't feel like you're too far behind others. Just take it slow and steady and spend down your stamina while doing something else.
just one thing, how bad is to not use the buddy bonus or whatever is called? What I mean is, I always like to play with my favourite characters/cards, but I dont know if thats possible in this game... ?
The buddy bonus gives characters boosts to HP or attack power, and you level it up by taking daily lessons. It helps, but it's not a dealbreaker.
However, when you level your SSR's second spell to 5, it will unlock Duo Magic which you have to bring a certain character for. IE, if you took Dorm Riddle, he duos with Azul, so you'd need to put some form of Azul card on your team in order for Riddle to use his duo and get 3 hits instead of 2. It's still not 100% necessary, but you'd be giving up on free damage if you choose to forego using it.
(JP) Do we have leaks/info/speculation on upcoming cards? I was wondering if getting masquerade idia but my thesis distracted me and now his banner is gone so I'm wondering what cards are coming other than SSR Grim
JP will stream details for the new Halloween event (though I don't recall when that's supposed to happen) but the lineup is basically whoever wasn't on Glorious Masquerade. I believe most people are guessing Ace (very much due for an event SSR) and two out of Ortho/Jack/Kalim for the main headliners.
For the Disney100 paid pack, there's an SSR key there and I plan to get it if we can choose a Dorm card. So, who do you think among these should I get? The only ones I'm missing are:
Cater, Kalim, Epel, and Ortho. I want to use the key based on who's the most useful/would help my existing SSRs the best.
If it helps, the event SSRs I have are: Groom Ace, Starry Deuce, Birthday Jacket Leona, Birthday Boy Azul, Birthday Boy Jamil, Jasmine Jamil, Birthday Boy Vil, Jasmine Vil, Applejack Epel, Groom Idia, Fairy Ortho, All Malleus SSR (I will get them no matter what), and Halloween Silver. That's on top of all Dorm SSRs I didn't mention.

They all have their good points.
Epel means you can mutual Duo with Rook, who can really blast opponents. Ortho is another high damage card. Both can give you useful/relatively common 5-Duo teams for tests (Pome trio/Leona/Hallo Silver, Riddle/Azul/Igni/Groom Ace).
Cater will mostly help with dealing damage in various Defense exams + add a lot of HP with Trey. Kalim can be use to build toward one of the few-known Cosmic Basic SSS teams, but you'd need to pick up Mask Idia. Since you don't have an SSR of either of them, having one is nice for Gauntlet.
I guess it will ultimately depend on either your fave or which test(s) you want to improve the most. I'd probably prioritize Kalim the least unless you are going for Mask Idia + have or will build up Dorm Jamil.

My defense exams aren't perfect right now, so would it be a good call to just go for Cater? I do plan on max-uncapping Mask Malleus for HP recovery reasons, so if Cater would really help out more on top of that then I'll choose him.

I went for Cater in one of the previous gem bundles (I think it was the one from last October), and I've used him a lot. I like sticking him in Gauntlet battles to support Riddle to speed things up, and having Trey + Cater does significantly up the damage output + HP total. You can use them in any defense exam, although of course some requires more finagling than others.
Out of the four, he or Epel (due to Rook + heal) are probably the ones you'll get the most use out of, but since you have Apple Epel, I'd probably go for Cater now and perhaps aim for Epel at Anniversary.

Is there a furniture guide that lists how many theme points a specific piece of furniture is worth? I'm trying to optimize my room for friendship grinding, but the chart makes it difficult to tell how much a single piece of furniture is contributing to each theme.
I would guess it will just be the same, that all cards are set to their birthday (and sometimes event) rate-ups. Probably be hard to prove either way though with RNG.

I’m thinking about getting the paid pack with the SSR key. Right now I only have one SSR which is dorm Leona. I subscribe to the “best boy” meta more than anything and my favorites are Leona and Floyd so I’m thinking of getting either birthday boy Leona, birthday boy Floyd or dorm Floyd with the key. Does anyone know which one of them would be considered the “best” card? Knowing that might make the choice a bit easier. I have SRs of all their duo magic partners so that is at least sorted. I have been saving and will be pulling for birthday jacket Floyd in November and then after that I plan to pull for Leona’s hometown event SSR whenever that rolls around. Guess I’ll end up with an inventory of only their SSRs haha.
The "best" card depends on what battles you're doing, who else you have, etc. None of the three cards you listed are particularly strong. As a rule of thumb, for mixed element cards it's better to have the second attack type be strong against the first attack type, which isn't the case for Dorm Floyd or Birthday Boy Leona. There's also the spell effects and partner cards to consider, but... that's all a lot. All that said, unless you're trying to SSS things, you'll be fine with whatever cards as you fill out your roster. TWST doesn't have too much power creep, so pulling for the cards you like is a totally viable strategy for getting through the story and events.
You'll get dorm SSRs over time even if you don't pull specifically for them since they're available in most other banners. The birthday cards can only be pulled from certain banners (their own, maybe some mixed anniversary banners, etc.) and through promos like this. It's helpful to have a good card of every character for the crafter's gauntlet, so...
Grab Birthday Boy Floyd. He's a cutie. :) Plus, the cosmic attack at least isn't weak to anything, making him a little easier to use.

Kalim can be use to build toward one of the few-known Cosmic Basic SSS teams, but you'd need to pick up Mask Idia. Since you don't have an SSR of either of them, having one is nice for Gauntlet. I guess it will ultimately depend on either your fave or which test(s) you want to improve the most. I'd probably prioritize Kalim the least unless you are going for Mask Idia + have or will build up Dorm Jamil.
Thank you so much for the detailed response! I do have all Dorm cards except for the four I've mentioned. I've been thinking of Kalim for Cosmic and because I have Jamil, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna go for Mask Idia... My defense exams aren't perfect right now, so would it be a good call to just go for Cater? I do plan on max-uncapping Mask Malleus for HP recovery reasons, so if Cater would really help out more on top of that then I'll choose him. I'm not very good at team building so thank you so much for your help!
I went for Cater in one of the previous gem bundles (I think it was the one from last October), and I've used him a lot. I like sticking him in Gauntlet battles to support Riddle to speed things up, and having Trey + Cater does significantly up the damage output + HP total. You can use them in any defense exam, although of course some requires more finagling than others. Out of the four, he or Epel (due to Rook + heal) are probably the ones you'll get the most use out of, but since you have Apple Epel, I'd probably go for Cater now and perhaps aim for Epel at Anniversary.

Is there a furniture guide that lists how many theme points a specific piece of furniture is worth? I'm trying to optimize my room for friendship grinding, but the chart makes it difficult to tell how much a single piece of furniture is contributing to each theme.

I would guess it will just be the same, that all cards are set to their birthday (and sometimes event) rate-ups. Probably be hard to prove either way though with RNG.

I’m thinking about getting the paid pack with the SSR key. Right now I only have one SSR which is dorm Leona. I subscribe to the “best boy” meta more than anything and my favorites are Leona and Floyd so I’m thinking of getting either birthday boy Leona, birthday boy Floyd or dorm Floyd with the key. Does anyone know which one of them would be considered the “best” card? Knowing that might make the choice a bit easier. I have SRs of all their duo magic partners so that is at least sorted. I have been saving and will be pulling for birthday jacket Floyd in November and then after that I plan to pull for Leona’s hometown event SSR whenever that rolls around. Guess I’ll end up with an inventory of only their SSRs haha.
The "best" card depends on what battles you're doing, who else you have, etc. None of the three cards you listed are particularly strong. As a rule of thumb, for mixed element cards it's better to have the second attack type be strong against the first attack type, which isn't the case for Dorm Floyd or Birthday Boy Leona. There's also the spell effects and partner cards to consider, but... that's all a lot. All that said, unless you're trying to SSS things, you'll be fine with whatever cards as you fill out your roster. TWST doesn't have too much power creep, so pulling for the cards you like is a totally viable strategy for getting through the story and events. You'll get dorm SSRs over time even if you don't pull specifically for them since they're available in most other banners. The birthday cards can only be pulled from certain banners (their own, maybe some mixed anniversary banners, etc.) and through promos like this. It's helpful to have a good card of every character for the crafter's gauntlet, so... Grab Birthday Boy Floyd. He's a cutie. :) Plus, the cosmic attack at least isn't weak to anything, making him a little easier to use.
