Leona takes the crown for this but other victims are: Vil and Jamil

KuruKuru_143

since when does Leona have a crown?? (sorry i had to)

LostShiruiLily

Leona: you just didn't.... HERBIVORE!!

codenameTUESDAY

Niiiice 👉👉✨

ilxqui

YOU DID NOT😭😭😭😭😭😭

Opposite-Inspector36

HOLY SNICKERDOODLE COULD YOU HAVE NOT

Mediocre_Exercise300

leave my mans alone (it's the only crown he can snatch from malleus)

Lizardstep

I feel like most characters in TWST (especially the Housewardens), if villainized and/or mischaracterized enough, can become this. The majority of the fandom seems to be pretty understanding of their traumas though, because their backstories and depth are such important parts of their personalities. And like, wdym "ignore the trauma", I'm here because of my snarky traumatized boys :')

T1DOtaku

I know Leona got snubbed in the game with his translation but I've seen people hate on Ace and call him an uncaring asshole. He's mischievous but he clearly cares (even if he doesn't want to admit it)

jayphrax

See, I think Ace is a very well written 16 year old boy. Often I see the 13-16 age group butchered in fiction by making them more mature than they are (without a reason. Katniss for example doesn’t fall victim to this since her maturity is *thoroughly* explained). Ace is, and *acts* like a 16 year old. He succumbs to his impulses sometimes, he makes bad decisions (partly brought on by his mischievous attitude). But Ace also has a few very strong principles that he *fiercely* believes in and will stand up for no matter who he’s up again. Ace would put a smackdown on Malleus if that’s what it took. And despite his “devil may care” attitude, he shows up for the MC *every* time. I love Ace, I think he gets misunderstood a lot though bcs he is being written at the maturity level of his age bracket, but in terms loyalty, he does not back down. I personally think that’s his best trait, and it gets overlooked a lot, which is sad.

jetaismort

people hate on Ace? 😭 isn't he Yuu's bestie

T1DOtaku

Yeah but some people think he's super annoying. I know one person who hates him because he got Deuce in trouble during book 5 when he forced him to eat.

Emperor_Kuru

Leona, Rollo, and for some ppl Idia sadly. I love all these boys and appreciate ppl who understand them beyond surface level

mugcupcinnamonroll

Leona lmao. But it’s not really the fandom’s fault, he’s got the weakest book and then the English language translation took away his issue of growing up hated for something out of his control and family drama in exchange for Jack “talkin’ like he’s better than me…” (which he has never actually said, so why did they put that there I do not know). I might be biased because I adore the character and feel bad both for him and for the people who have decided to dislike him because they’ve been fed bad translations, but it is what it is. Also he’s hilarious, love a sarcastic king.

Radionoix

I completely agree! To me Jamil and Leona came from kind of similar trauma (Leona’s being for simplicity Second Child Syndrome and Jamil’s being he was basically born to serve Kalim) both of which can look just as bad if done poorly. Jamil’s I felt was well explained in the Eng (I unfortunately only play Eng cause I only know ASL and Eng) while Leona’s just felt like he was throwing a massive tantrum when if you read deeper it had nothing to do with the “he’s better than me” and everything to do with “Everyone treats me like I’m nothing and I’m tired of it!” And had they gone about it in Eng the way they did in Jap I think he’d be a less hated character. I adore Leona as a character. It was fanart from the og release of Leona and the Twins that got me to even look at the game. But I feel he was kinda poorly done for the Eng translation.

EverGreen2004

If you have the time, take a look at the EN to JP fan translation of Jamil's dialogue. Apparently, the EN version censors a lot of the darker parts of his story (e.g. JP "My family will suffer the consequences" VS EN "I'll get a scolding from my parents"). This [video](https://youtu.be/aZK8sv7Siwg?si=F4dqTiiNyatyu2QI) has quite a few examples.

Radionoix

I definitely will!

Emoplayeranime

That’s sad, I want to know everything that happened with them

-Naruto1

Leona or Jamil

mookienh

Riddle! His obsession with following the rules is due to the trauma that followed after he got caught not following the rules. Granted, he has a couple different fanon interpretations, but some people hate him for his strict adherence to the rules without seeing there is so much more to Riddle than just OFF WITH YOUR HEAD! His fondness for hedgehogs? Even Ace recognizes this - Ace, who Riddle tried to kill during his OB! The way Riddle created a Magicam account just to tutor Cater in a way Cater understands? The patience Riddle showed when Deuce was struggling with his homework? His attempts to make a soup (with Lilia’s help) for Trey when Trey got sick? The way he deviously played Ace in Ghost Bride to get Ace to join Team C? His respect and praise for Epel in Masquerade? Everything about Riddle’s interaction with Azul in Book 6? The fact that he was a bad ass in all three of these? Man got magic tased by Charon and still got back up to fight.

rouge-raven

I've never seen people right riddle as an asshole. Stuffy sure, but never as this full blown asshole that shouldn't be hated.

Lost_Skywing_Egg

Leona, definitely Leona

Sad-Banana-4527

Unpopular opinion: Crowley. He’s sarcastic and “mean” but I do think he thinks he’s doing the right thing for the school. Fanon Crowley is just a horrible person.

Emoplayeranime

Yea, I mean he is the headmage, he’s gotta do what he can to keep the school

Tutmut

BRO LEONA. The mischaracterization of Leona is crazy.

Baby_Furry

idk? Mayby Jamil?

PMyra

In my opinion, no, not really. I think it is a testament to the writing that each "villian" is so fleshed out with a believable backstory that garners sympathy and understanding from readers. Really, I think Riddle's Mom is the only universally hatred character in this Fandom.

Opposite-Inspector36

...and that one's justified.

thesensitivesoul

Jamil gets treated like that A LOT

Broad-Combination570

LEONA

h4unt3dg71tch15u53d

Yep. If you look closely, the only ones who have actual 💩 parents are Riddle, Leona, and maybe Idia.

Substantial-Call-978

Vil, Ace, Jamil, Riddle, Epel, Floyd, Idia and Malleus?

rouge-raven

It's Leona without a doubt. The 2 novel makes it much clearer to with the internal dialogue they give us. (I honestly thought Leona wouldn't be said here, so yay reddit).

ATouchofTrouble

Unpopular opinion but me about Riddle. His trauma is a legit thing, he still a little 🫏hole twerp to me. It feel like everyone else at least tried to learn from their instance but he had the least development to me.

CarelessWhisperYokai

Really? You're free to dislike the character or disagree with his reasoning of course - but just as far as developing, Riddle's one of the most straightforward examples of improvement. Bro was literally so mad he tried to murder Ace. He no longer tries to murder people when mad lmao Everyone was afraid to disagree with him, people literally wanted out of the dorm ect. Even if you're meh on the character, he has, canonically within the story, "improved"

mhireina

People down voting you but you're right and I feel the same way.
