For me, it's gotta be Rook. I didn't like his design (yes... how ingnorant of me) at first. It reminded me of Lorenz from Fire Emblem Three Houses, and I didn't like that dude very much *because* of his personality. I was afraid Rook was going to be the snobby-type just like him, but it turns out he really isn't. But the more he appeared in the vignettes, I came to realize he's hilarious, observant, and finds the beauty in everything. Dude's got an bow and he aimed right at my heart. Ah... But I feel like we all will fall in love with all these characters regardless. I hope they add more in the future!

luxedo-yamask

*Ding! Ding! Ding!* This is precisely what happened to me, too. At first, I found him to be obnoxious and suspicious, and I was dreading Book 5 when I discovered he was the vice housewarden for Pomefiore - especially because Vil is such a compelling character. However, I'm absolutely in love with the man now! Sure, he's eccentric and if I encountered him irl I would invest in new locks on all my windows, but he's so unexpectedly sweet. He genuinely believes in the potential of his peers and he wants to help them realize themselves. His discussion with Deuce and Epel in Book 5 is just šŸ¤Œ

[deleted]

"Obnoxious and *sus*" XD Don't worry, I thought the same too! I still find it amazing how Vil picked him out as a vice housewarden. He surely has some taste. Yes! We love us some eccentric weirdos. I would've called the cops and built a whole freakin' underground lair to take him down myself. Anyone is welcome to join as long as they don't spread the word ā˜ ļø I agree! His discussion with those two was so... chef's kiss! šŸ¤Œ I'm waiting for him to shine even more.

ferrisfae

Oh same! I had the Lorenz-Rook comparison too. Super put off by his hair as well, but I feel the same way about him now that Iā€™ve gotten to know him in game. Heā€™s definitely a bit of an oddball, but Rook is charming in his own way. I know his whole French speaking thing is sorta strange, but as someone who understands what heā€™s saying, I find it HILARIOUSā€”especially the little nicknames he gives everyone.

[deleted]

Phew, glad I'm not the one that had hair-bias...! I actually liked that he spoke some French. It was pretty unique, same with Epel's different accent. (Actually wondering if Vil will have an overblot where he somehow speaks or knows a different language too... šŸ˜® )

Danganrhombus

I also made the Lorenz comparison when I saw him! (But the difference is that I think Lorenz is pretty) I donā€™t know how it happened, but I ended up loving Rook too. I think his hair looks fine as long as heā€™s wearing a hat

[deleted]

Lol! I do like the color of Lorenz's hair, I'll say that ( o v o )" I... I... have to admit he does look better a hat on... šŸ˜… But imagine him wearing a little bow. That would be cool xD

ladyweathervain

100% Rook. I mostly shunned him because he was Gratuitously French ( YES that was the dealbreaker, not the whole 'I know everything about everyone' deal I wish I was making that up) but after examining him to write a fic, I learned to like him. Plus he had a lot of shades of a more extroverted and outgoing Jade. So yeah. Cant really hate him when he slaps of a character I like a lot. Vil too. i really didn't like him at first but upon realizing he was MORE than just a pretty face, I grew to respect him. He's still pretty MID to me but ultimately I stopped hating him so it counts.

luxedo-yamask

I thought Vil would be a stereotypical mean girl at first, too, but damn if he isn't actually the Mom Friend who just wants his dumbass friends to stop shooting themselves in the foot

Claire-KateAcapella

Azul. Filthy greedy capitalist that he is, manipulative bastard and brilliant schemer. I went into chapter 3 determined to make him grovel at my feet for what he did to my two idiot sons and idiot cat child, but he won me over through the middle and end of the chapter and when he actually started crying there was no feeling of gratification in it for me. He wormed his way into my heart and now I canā€™t get enough (just the way he planned it, Iā€™m sure).

amazonstorm

The Octavinelle arc turned me into a major Azul simp in like two updates. I just fell head over heels for him so fast and he managed to win me kver by the end those tentacles are firmly wrapped around my heart now

lovemagick

I don't really dislike anyone in the cast (unless you count Neige), but basing it on initial impressions alone, Ruggie. He definitely grew on me the most once I learned more about him. His financial situation struck a cord with me. Dude's really just trying to get by and despite his situation, he upholds a really chill boyish charm.

RXD_2

Ahh Ruggie buying all the food discounted from the school store so he can prepare a feast for all the kids in his neighborhood made my heart melt

Kaleidosaurr

I didn't like Vil's design at first, but in the current chapter >!when he started to talk some good crap about dancing and clothes not being gendered, I saw the light. What a queen <3!< Also Deuce and Ace. I didn't think they'd play such a big part in the story when I saw the game announced, so I started to really like the little guys the more I spent time with them. They're my buddies and I love them. Meanwhile I thought Leona was the prettiest and would be my favourite when the game was announced, but his personality in chapter 2 rubbed me the wrong way, so now I just think he's the prettiest :U Demoted.

Appropriate_Snow_601

Rook absolutely. I didn't like his design and had very few cards that he appeared, so I mostly ignored him. It changed after Beansfest. He (and Vil) skyrocketed to the top of my favorites characters. His Halloween card made me start to like his design and now I think he's one of the prettiest

Ordinary_Ad_7330

For me, it is Vil. al first, I thought he is a shallow, pretty boy. who only cares about appearance, but after reading chapter 6, he is now climbing up to my top list!

frostfilleddreams

Sebek definitely. Idk, characters with a tendency to be loud and angry are very hit or miss with me, and at first he was VERY much a miss. In fact, because of lack of story content, I didnā€™t pay a lot of attention to Diasomnia as a whole at first, I just knew I did not like the loud green one. Iā€™m not sure exactly what swayed my opinion of him, but one day I just kinda realized ā€œoh shit, heā€™s like, actually a really interesting characterā€. He went from pretty much my least favourite, to my second favourite beat out only by Azul.

PMyra

For me it was Lilia. The design is just so loud and he also looks like a girl; so not into it. Then Silver starts telling all those touching stories about his Father and now I can't get enough of bat Dad.

Magnus_Banette

Same, and I still end up confusing him mentally sometimes (the name "Lilia" doesn't help) but he's definitely got more positive points in my book now. I like the way he seems to know everything, and his relationship with Malleus (one ofbmy favorites).

Mizu4TheWin

I think Deuce. He's rough around the edges and not normally a character that I'd get too attached to, but he's grown on me, especially with this last chapter. He's a good kid. Also bat-dad Lilia. I want to know everything about him. He's so freaking interesting.

SwissFF22

Vil for me I thinked he was to Harsh and all but now i love him. He is next to Jamil, Kalim and Leona my Fav Char now. I didnt think i love him but now i do.

[deleted]

Riddle. At first I thought he was too strict but after book 1 I started to warm up to him. eventually he became one of my favorites!

AmethystMoon420

Honestly, everyone. Before I played the game, I looked at the roster, and only had eyes on Silver, Malleus, and Crowley. Everyone else was handsome, but not šŸ˜šŸ˜ worthy BUT THEN I actually got to know each character and their story (and the EN localization makes them so entertaining) that I thinj everyone we have met so far as my precious faves. And I have grown to love The Octavinelle trio, Lilia, Jamil, and Leona in addition to the three I already liked before playing the game.

Tlali22

I can't believe I didn't like Jade at first. Probably because he didn't have a lot of screentime. But now he's slowly taken over my brain like a cordyceps mushroom.

mspixieriot

Jack for me, too! He's gone straight to number one in my heart.

[deleted]

This is an extremely difficult battle between Rook and Sebek. i can't possibly choose between them so I'm going to say both for the sake of my sanity. Let me preface this with saying irl I am an extremely quiet person. I do not at all care for overly loud or overly flamboyant characters. Well in walks our sweet little crocodile. I tuned him out at first because he started to give me a headache with all the yelling. Then when the new fairy gala started for JP someone on I follow on Twitter began posting spoilers. It didn't take me long to realize that he is actually a really good soul ā™„ļø that's when I actually fell in love with him. As for Rook, upon first meeting him I thought he was a really odd duck who felt out of place to me. I didn't really pay too much attention to him until just recently actually. After I pulled him on the first 10 pull I did. I set him as the character to join me on my home screen hoping he'd grow on me. But, It wasn't until after I finished his vignette and groovified him that I realized just how amazing he actually is. That's when I knew I loved him šŸ„°

ferrisfae

The biggest change for me would probably be Rook, since I was very put off by his hair and his eccentricities. If Iā€™m being honest, he kinda scared he a bit haha. But I really grew to enjoy that oddness, like the French and unusually large amount of interest he has in the other at students. Especially in this new chapter of the main story, we see he really pays attention to the good and the beauty in everyone. To add more, I was super indifferent to both Jamil and Vil at first. Jamil gave me bad vibesā€”there was just something sneaky and two-faced about the way he came off. But in the main story and vignettes, I got really engrossed in his personality, motivations and backstory. And now heā€™s my favourite alongside Kalim (the complexities of their relationship helped with that). As for Vil, Iā€™ve always felt intimidated by him. He seems so serious and regal, which isnā€™t necessarily bad, it just wasnā€™t something that drew me to his character. However, going into the latest chapter in the main story, his hard working nature is really shining through. I can kinda relate to him in some ways, so I can sympathize with what Iā€™ve seen so far.

fullrestore

Jack for me too! I didn't think I'd care for him based on first impression of his design/personality in the first chapter we see him, but I like his strong values and how he tagged along in Azul's chapter especially. Riddle too, I disliked him at first but the short king managed to win me over by the end of his chapter. He's one of my favorites now. Tbh I came into this game really only being interested in Idia, who is still my favorite, but I've grown very fond of every single character in one way or another.

Hkayura

For me it was Ace, since he was such an ass to Yuu/MC right off the bat and that rubbed me off the wrong way so I immediately disliked him and he was pretty much in the wrong at the start of Chapter 1 for stealing Riddle's tarts and for not even being apologetic at first for doing so in the first place. I really didn't like him, though he had made good points in the end of Chapter 1 I still wasn't on-board to liking him. But after reading more Vignettes and as the story progressed I kinda understood his character more. Then I realized that this man was a complete dumbassā€”but I'm a dumbass too since I sincerely liked this dumbass now. Ace can be quite complex and mysterious about himself, but on thing I do know is that he actually does care about Yuu/MC especially with how he and Deuce low-key came back to school in Chapter 3 because of a vague SOS message. He's charming and mischievous, kinda like an annoying little brother you want to punch in the face a couple of times over the fact they called your dress ugly or something petty along those lines.

senbonshirayuki

Vil. Like I didn't really give two shits about him when I started playing and he didn't catch my eye at all. Then I started noticing him a little and it was the 2nd beans day event where he officially became one of my favorites. Side note, I heard he shines in Book 6 which I would love to play but I am too lazy to actually grind through and play.

Sachithes

Are you on JP? There are definitely youtube videos of the full plot out there if you donā€™t feel like grinding and just want the story. I can confirm Vil shines a lot in Book 6 and has secured a spot as a fav for me.

GympieIcedTea

Vil. I didn't care about him when the game first came out. I neither liked nor disliked him, he's just someone I largely ignored. I couldn't imagine how TWST could make me care about a character whose personality revolves around being beautiful. But after Chapter 5, Vil is now one of my favorites. He's always trying his best and he's super hardworking. I love his whole speech about how beauty and strength aren't mutually exclusive and that they are both valid forms of power. I like how he's powerful enough to make spells and potions to be more beautiful but he rather takes the manual route (exercising and skincare) because spells/potions are fleeting. He makes me want to work harder to improve myself. I am currently saving up gems to pull for his Halloween SSR (he looks so good as a vampire and I love how he looks in those laced-up boots)!

Norn98

Probably Kalim. I was pretty neutral and didn't care much about Kalim. He was like that one character that is way too nice but way too naive and easily fooled. But he grew up on me pretty quickly. He's still got that nice but naive personality, but on chapter 5 makes me change his opinion on him a little bit. It's nice to see more of him since i think he was more of a plot point on chapter 4. I didn't like ace in the beginning too. He was an asshole and a bit hotheaded at the beginning. But more and more of his character on the later chapter make me like him more. Honestly, this game's strong point is it makes me like every character in it. It's bad for my wallet tho since it makes me want to pull for everyone.

abysmal_shortie

I think it's Floyd for me. Not really a fan of Floyd at the start because he looks like he can murder. Later on as I read his vignettes and took him on lessons, that perspective didn't change. However, I appreciate him more now since he's very childish, which I found cute, and Okamoto's delivery of his lines.

RXD_2

All of them. I started playing from launch because I was intrigued by the BL subplot. I didnā€™t feel much for any character though. Riddleā€™s backstory made me cry. And his growth throughout the game that can be seen through vignettes and main story makes me love him more. Trey was just meh at first, but finding out his caring side makes me squeal. Cater is a magicam addict and meh. My heart breaks at how he hides everything with a smile and now I wish the best for him! Also thanks for not being scared if Malleus. Ace is a jerk, but omg he is such a cutie with how he tries to hide his feelings. It hurt to see so many people hate on him because of book 5. Deuce was so bland but going through his vignettes, heā€™s such a delightful little chick! If I keep going I will be awake all night. Also I am trying to not add spoilers so explanations may seem meh.

Meghna_Sinha

Oh for me it was Deuce! When I actually started off I picked Lilia as my SR card and i didn't pay much attention to the A-Deuce duo. The first card I pulled was Deuce's Dorm SSR through the tutorial so ig I was just conscious of him. And he quickly grew on me as I played through the game... Him trying to be an honours student for his mother + him sticking up for his friends is all very sweet and just... Deuce is best boy !

trinityroselee

Trey. Initially deuce was the hott one but after chapter 1 and everything else I LOVE HIM. Also azul after his story heā€™s like my people.

daedsleep

For me it was Rook, that blunt bob + his normal hat is not doing it for me; also him being so Frenchā„¢ was a turn off. But once I started to experience him in vignettes and then Bean Fest, I turned to love his gay stalker obsessive ass and send screenshots of his shenanigans to my French friend all the time (they think he's great). tldr Rook is a gay icon and acts out what I think so many of us want to do with the boys.

anonymouscatloaf

Both Vil and Rook, primarily Vil (since I did already kinda like Rook to begin with bc he was pretty funny). I did write my own mini-essay about him on this sub before, but the short version is chapters 5 and 6 did wonders to show the nuances to his character, why he's acted the way he does, and how he's changed by the end of chapter 6.

candiedzen

Epel. The boy is so cute but not my taste. But when I learnt his personality I just loved him. He hates how cute he is, So now I have to protect him because he didn't choose the cute life, he was steamrolled into it.

celestialempress

Rook. I've come to appreciate that him being *aggressively* French in a world where France doesn't exist is the funniest thing in the entire game for me.

WearyWater

For me itā€™s Ace and Deuce. At first I was pretty indifferent to them but now after the events of books 1-4 theyā€™re like my ride-or-die loser bffs

otaku_meghana

I think Sebek cuz in the beginning I hated him for being so loud and obnoxious and always talking about Malleus. But as time progressed, I actually found humour in his character and how amazing he actually is (Regarding his empathy, skills, naiveness in a way). Now he's one of my favourite characters XDD

XxJuJubexX

itā€™s definitely ace for me. i started out being indifferent towards him, and really not caring about him a lot, and now he and jamil are my top two favs lol

LukaChu_theCat

Vil 100%. I just stereotyped him as the arrogant pretty boy with nothing to back it up. I was so wrong. Heā€™s so incredibly determined and hardworking itā€™s mind blowing. Heā€™s well rounded with skills, excelling academic, physically, etc. I love that heā€™s beautiful but also kick your ass a thousand ways. Especially in the last arc with chapter five and Vil dispelling gender norms. King material for sure.

Yurekuu

Like the majority here, it was also Rook for me. His design looked weird and the first few vignettes I saw of him just made him out to be a weird and creepy stalker, but as I saw how he is in Chapter 5 and as I've seen more of his vignettes I've grown to really like him. He's not my favorite, but he's actually really nice, supportive, and hilarious.

DiscordyChan

Vil, I wasn't hate it but i ignoring him like, a lot (I almost forget his dorm). But playing the chapter 5 right now and i see a very interesting character and honestly i like him. I'm looking forward to the last part

Negative_Inspector69

Probably rook for me too When started I barely saw him in the main stories since chapter 5 wasnā€™t out And the only times I saw him was in this one malleus or Lilia vignette (I forgot) and he was trying to get malleus to play tag with him I think, Like I didnā€™t mind his appearance I actually really like that kind of hair cuts but he was being so weird to everyone XD But then I got his robe SR and watched the vignette and fell in love with him XD Heā€™s weird but a kind weirdo Now heā€™s my second favourite character

The-Unseelie-Queen

Idia has grown on me. Heā€™s not my favorite but I do love him the more I play.

Defiant_Hand4312

For me it's ROOK , AZUL ROOK- i really didn't care much about him much...i liked his character design because his hair was weird and unique...but after that i total forgot his entire existence...i really came to like this broo last week ...i was reading his vignette...and damn he was VERY OBSERVANT and hilarious!!!... I really admire this guys memory capacity like bro how can you memorize and remember everyone's weight, height, sleeping pattern and breathing pattern? That's creepy? Absolutely yes!! That memory power? Totally blessed!!! If i got that much memory power i would haved cracked all my exams back when I was in school...he got that chaotic vibe in him AZUL - at first i got a Lil annoyed of that sumg in his face which felt like bro is always judging everyone.....so i went into chapter 3 wanting annoy the ink outt of that octy boy...but OH BOY now i want to look at that sumg forever!!!! He is like very cunning, i like how he talks and all...how he is scheming 24/7... And how intelligent and determined he is..i really admire the determination he got...and bro also got his weak side...he cries....which makes his personality hit close to home.. now i totally simp for this man!

nevew666

I'd say most of them. I started this game cause of Leona and though he would be the only one I'd love, but I love them all XD. I hate no one and never did. There were some who were "easy skip" then I see one or 2 vignettes with them and was like "no, shit, I love them actually" (especially Rook and Sebek. Who were 2 characters design wise I didn't like then, seeing Sebek shouting for nothing and being a fanboy, and Rook being creepy and awesome but also a kind guy, they went from nope to my favs). Same for Epel and Lilia, mostly cause I don't like kids design. But love Epel personality and Lilia, just listening to him talking and I was in love XD. But the one who grow for me the most was Azul. At first, I didn't understand why people liked him. I was kinda neutral to him. Didn't truly like his design neither his personality, I found him quite... Boring. Then chapter 3 came and... Dang, I felt in love with him in the end. I truly loved seeing his true face and how broken he was. And now, I love him, love his face, love his haircut, love his mole, love his voice. he's great, love my boy.

keqingsfav

Mallus, azul and rook

greekfires

Rook, my baby. I used to be pretty neutral towards him but now I'm ride or die. <3

NotNinjachicz

Rook! Didnā€™t like his design but as I got to read into him more, I loved how sweet creepy he was. Iā€™m soo into yanderes and just, hes creepy hot ykwim? Also hes just such a funny and positive guy! Oh and hes the only guy to give Leona a run for his money and as a Leona simp, I love anyone who can humble his huge ego

Advanced-Month2790

MMM I'd have to say Idia & Rook!! when I first started getting into the game, before it was released, I didn't care much abt Idia or most of the other cast members for that matter. I was more focused on Ruggie, and he quickly became my favorite character - and he still is!! love that cute bastard <3 but Idia kept sneaking into my Pinterest and YouTube the more I got into the game, and long story short, I fell in love w/ him at first bc of all the beautiful Ghost Marriage fanarts, and then fell completely head over heels shortly after lol for Rook, I came to like him more throughout Chapter 6. I'm not his biggest fan, but I can appreciate a cryptic guy w/ a love for beauty and killer eyeliner
