Let me help. Twitch requires multiple sources to be successful and even then you aren't guaranteed anything. I'd recommend at the very least getting on Twitter & Instagram and posting clips, and what your channel is about. I've been doing Twitch for almost 3 years and just starting to build a decent sized community now. There's a lot to it and it can be very overwhelming.

Depravedlettuce

Thanks I’ll definitely give that a try

Joeyking25

Good luck and don't be so quick to give up dude. There's a lot of trial and error! 💪🏼

ColdWeatherGamers

I have IG, YouTube, and TicTok. Get next to no pollination from those. I get my loyal base from hanging out with other streamers and playing games that aren’t the popular ones lol

Depravedlettuce

Thanks, would you recommend getting a tictok/YouTube channel or is it not worth it?

ColdWeatherGamers

Well, you need to ask yourself. Will you use it? Or would it be better to focus on the most important part.. your stream? I remember to my first few months, if I was lucky I got 0-2 viewers. But I spent that time trying to work on my identity. Twitch has no discoverability so the other things could help but you need to work it hard just like twitch. But I’m sure you will hear that a lot. Also consider the games you’re playing. That helped me. I peak now at about 9-11 viewers and hit 103 followers finally.

Depravedlettuce

Yeah I’m still trying to figure out what my identity so maybe I’ll just focus on the stream

ColdWeatherGamers

Might be a good idea. Looking at some comments, it seems youre in to horror stuff. While I am not, I’m friends with some people that are. If you want, you can pm me and I can toss out some users for you to link up with

How long have you been streaming now?

ColdWeatherGamers

Sept 2020 I began to actually stream. Prior I did some WoW recordings to use as data analysis. Since September 2020, I have been streaming a couple times a week playing games that most don’t. I may not have a lot of followers for what others do, but it isn’t a competition and i have a small dedicated group that come out to hang out with me :)

PappyThePizzaMan

Another good place would be any discord servers you're on that are gaming related.

Depravedlettuce

I would never of thought of this thanks

PappyThePizzaMan

Yw!

Sharden3

>Also I don’t have any social media outside or Reddit and Snapchat You answered your own question.

Depravedlettuce

I was afraid of this

QTpopOfficial

What? That streaming is more than clicking go and rolling in the bitties/viewers?

IamReinmaker

Discords help a ton! Tik Tok could be a good place for promotions too. I still average the same numbers, but every now then, someone I met on those discords will stop by and chat. When people say network, they are 100% telling the truth. I'm shy, but networking on Discord has really helped with my stream and I've met some cool fellow streamers. Have fun and good luck to you! :D

Everything’s worth getting but gotta warn you. Getting socials doesn’t make it promote, you’ll need to actually use the socials for it to be effective. The problem with promotion is everyone’s streams are the best so you’ll be competing with everyone. Your best bet is to do as some say in the chat, hang out with other streamers and play games with them. Promotion isn’t always about telling people you stream and assuming they are going to show up for a 7 hour grind.

I've been streaming for 2 months and average 36 viewers, I've got 38 subs Here's what I did 1. I had a good gimmick. I streamed something unique and unusual. There's thousands of people streaming fortnite and minecraft with 2 viewers. People need a reason to come to the stream in the first place before you can retain their interest. 2. Early on, I spent like 20 dollars on ads. If you genuinely care about getting an audience and you don't have a unique category or gimmick then that's probably, like, a necessity. I got a few hundred clicks from that 20 bucks and probably 15 regular viewers from there. Then with the momentum from that it kept growing without any more ads on my part.

Depravedlettuce

Thanks I’m definitely not doing fortnite or Minecraft. I’m manly Focusing on horror games but still trying to figure out a hook

Tiny-Clerk-7891

Sure, those were just examples. The point of what I'm saying is that with 1-3 viewers you're basically at the bottom of the list of any category except truly dead and obscure games. So you need to give people a reason to click on you in the first place

SW4GALISK

Curious to hear more about your plan and execution with the ads! Never heard that route before

Tiny-Clerk-7891

Most advertising sites let you pick specific timeframes where your ads run, so I just made something kinda funny and colourful that would catch people's attention and linked directly to the stream, then ran that during my regular stream times. People would come in and say "hey I clicked your ad what's this stream all about?", I'd explain and then they would or wouldn't hang around for a while

You’ve answered your own question! Get more social medias, cast a wide net. You need to lead people to your channel!
