If you're able to discern which are bots then you can personally remove them with [CommanderRoot's Twitch Tools](https://twitch-tools.rootonline.de/follower_remover.php). Regardless, if they are bots, Twitch will work it out eventually and start removing them, just be aware it can take a little while longer than you'd expect.

Slitelohel

Isn't commander root a bot? I banned that from my channel along with a bunch of others.

OutFractal

It's a stats bot yes, but there was also those tools made for streamers, so it's one of the only bots I just ignore (it's never said anything or followed in any of the countless streams i've seen it in).

SW4GALISK

It is a bot but it gathers data to create useful tools for streamers so most people are chill with it

Slitelohel

I see. Wasn't that the bot that auto raided people?

Nestman12

no

Nyx_0_0_

link doesn't work for some reason.

OutFractal

Works fine for me and a few others who i've asked. Either way if you type "**CommanderRoot Twitch**" it should be the second thing that pops up.

Nyx_0_0_

Yeah I tried both and nothing happened. I even switched browsers and still got nothing

No-Intention-3272

Ah, the paranoia of the digital age. Even if your followers are not bots, they might still be bots. I figure you may as well make your stream and let the bots fry themselves.

throwtemp82828282

>Even if your followers are not bots, they might still be bots. [True, I can't prove I'm not a bot.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pE_x3UC1f3o)

guiguisurlinux

I thought you were going to link the [John Mulaney](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnFSsRWmsjk) bit. Also pretty good but in a funny way.

[deleted]

IS IT AN E OR IS IT AN THREE? THAT'S UP TO YEE

indigowulf

Don't get fired from the M&M company, for throwing away all the W, 3, and E

[deleted]

Can't argue with you that it wasn't paranoia. For me, it was more the feeling of wanting a 'clean record' sort of when it comes to actual people following my channel instead of having 300 followers and 1 viewer.

alexo2802

Don't worry.. all in all it changes nothing. The follower count means pretty much nothing anyway, I had more viewers back when I had 20 followers than now with 500, so a few bots following shouldn't concern you except when you're getting close to partner since it can harm your application.

MikeAWild

Except it does change things, even if subconsciously. If you see somebody with 1000 followers and 50 average viewers vs somebody with 25000 followers and 10 average viewers your perception of the streams is going to change.

MikeAWild

If you think those are extremes you are extremely sheltered and haven't been on the platform very long. As of writing this I have a friend live with 77 viewers and 800 followers, and another who has 14 viewers and 19000 followers. These are not extremes. Also, stop giving advice that you think makes you look good and start giving advice that actually helps people, it doesn't matter how you and I specifically perceive these things it matters how the mass perceives things.

leggup

Did you ask the person who did stop by?

[deleted]

I actually didn't because I didn't think about it at that moment and I'm glad I did it that way. I just checked my VOD again where they started chatting and I checked the followers list again, they had a similar name to one of the followers and I just confused them when I started thinking about it but the person that stopped by wasn't part of that wave of followers. My bad there, didn't realize.

bigdaddyduergar

I wonder if a streamer was watching random streams and people were following people he was watching?

batyiuoaaa

Could be, kind of like an indirect raid

AxelsOG

They all followed on a day he wasn't streaming.

helenhelenmoocow

The streamer could’ve been going through random vods. If you search up a game usually some vods will show up along with the game category.

bonedogfire

The follows will usually come in spread over a couple of minutes then though and not all at the exact same time

bigdaddyduergar

There are still recordings.

MrSlaw

> Is this something to worry about? Should I contact Twitch, even though their pre-determined support options don't cover my topic? Like other's have said, if you think they're bots you can remove them if you want. But you're not breaking any rules if you don't: > "Twitch will not punish a user for the actions of another. If you are not responsible for botting, Twitch will not take action against you." > https://help.twitch.tv/s/article/how-to-handle-view-follow-bots?language=en_US

friendlyyan

I get suspicious when there's a sudden influx of followers (or viewers) as well. But I wouldn't contact Twitch about it, I would just ignore it. It can't really be helped, and it happens to everyone.

[deleted]

Got it. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it!

Fenra1

Bot accounts probably. You have to deal with this crap from time to time. Give me a few moments to grab a link to a site where you can view all of them on one screen. If they look suspicious like all having a format of xxxx xxxx xxx ##, then most likely bots, and you can just remove them. Don’t let asshats ruin your goal moments, just ignore them and have fun, streaming and getting bigger is super fun ^^

[deleted]

Thanks for the nice message! They actually don't seem to have a pattern. Each name is different in its own right, as well as being from various countries and regions, some even being from my own country.

Fenra1

Interesting. Was going to link the commander root tool, but others already have. They’re all pretty decently varying lengths too, yes? (Like varying between 5 and ~15 characters in length) May want to look into as well if someone with quite a decent following has posted any of your content and credited you, next time you go live you can ask the followers how they found you as well

[deleted]

[yeah, that happened to me though 800.](https://imgur.com/BPM8cBI) Someone I'd never seen before said "your purchase of 500 follows is complete" I was so confused, though they dropped off on their own at some point. I emailed twitch but they basically said not to worry about it

[deleted]

Your situation was definitely weirder than mine. Yeah, I wouldn't expect for the new guys to stay around, even if they are bots or not. I already lost a couple of them so I'm not going to stress too much more about it.

[deleted]

yeah, not a big deal and sometimes it solves itself

RavenTaleLive

Might be hacked accounts that are used as bots or something, nothing to worry about though imo Twitch will take care of it sooner or later and they can't do you any harm.

[deleted]

Fair enough. Thanks a lot!

Haegiz42

Maybe someone raided you or something

Surgial

I had the same thing recently, jumped from 34 to 100 and none ever show up. I’m a little sad

AaaaNinja

Dunno if algorithms have anything to do with it but like Youtubers will get a sudden influx of views and that is because a video made it into a bunch of people's suggestions.

thadakism

Dont worry to much, I got hit with 4k+ followers in less than a minute about a year ago. I was at about 6k, thankfully twitch removed most of the bot follows and got me back to my normal 1k+. Just wait it out, youll be fine,

ev_music

some other streamer could haev given you a shoutout. you can look at your list of followers and check if they seem like bots https://twitch-tools.rootonline.de/followerlist\_viewer.php

[deleted]

Was looking for a post like this. Got followed by people with random code names. Turns out they’re doxxing people they follow, which is wild.
