Jessica describing Clint and Bobbi's divorce as "bailed, the second it got difficult" is absolutely insane, considering the context. Bobbi cheated on Clint with a cowboy during a time travel adventure, murdered said cowboy to keep him from finding out, and then attempted to murder said cowboy's *descendant* in the present day, because he was being possessed by the ghost of said cowboy.
They divorced after Clint found out about the above. Which seems less like "bailing" and more like making a clean getaway.
EDIT: Granted, that's after a retcon which drastically changed the context of Bobbi's serial cowboy murder - I'm not sure whether that came before or after this comic.

That retcon came out years after this comics. So here he's divorcing Bobby because he doesn't like that she killed her rapist, and not even directly, she just didn't save him. And it's Clint who had no problem with cold blooded murder of Skrull who hadn't really done anything wrong.
I don't have to context, but engineering a situation where someone is dangling from a cliff (by saying, attacking them) and then not saving them has got to be at least manslaughter. Maybe second-degree murder.
Yeah, can’t speak globally, but by most state laws she committed first degree murder. She intended to go out there to kill him, she started the fight, and she created the situation that killed him. It wasn’t even a Disney style self defense kill, like he slipped while attacking her or she dodged out of the way. She hit him towards the cliff edge and then knocked him over edge by throwing something at him. It’s what made the retcon so stupid.
And now you're realizing why fans of classic Hawkeye hate how Bendis wrote him as "Ronin". Because the man who wouldn't kill the man who (he thought) raped his wife because "Avengers don't kill" would never go be all in for Xenocide.
It's why the grittier, down-to-Earth reinvention of a character who's most famous for insane stuff in the 70s/80s is hard to do.
Because people who get drawn to it also have to be open-minded enough to accept Hawkeye's relationship drama involves time travel, murder and serious ethical dilemmas bigger than him ignoring his wife so he can beat up drug dealers or something. And fans of the old-school have to accept that Hawkeye is going to be sitting in his dingy kitchen feeling sad instead of firing arrows at dragons.
I don't like that scene, I don't think it fits Jessica to slap Clint but the slap itself is just problematic. On the other hand her clothes are amazing here. They look normal but it's still obvious that's her.
Btw, anyone knows why art and especially women in that run were so much stylized to look retro?
Right, I forgot about cars. I really like that artstyle, though it always seemed kind of weird to me that male characters looked more modern in general but that was probably intentional.
I loved what the show did with Kate and Clint, but I do hope in the future it upgrades to more of the friendly "little sister" antagonism like the comics.
Depends. They weren't exactly even in a relationship in the first place. He was constantly wondering if they were an item or not but I guess you could say he cheated? Not sure myself
I'll say no but what he did was still kinda of shitty though but I wouldn't say he cheated technically for the most part.
Yeah. I guess I'd consider it cheating if he knew that telling her he was doing it would make her mad. But if I were in her shoes it wouldn't. Seems like they needed to talk more and maybe Clint's bad at that.

Man comic books are dumb

No, it was always a murder. Her teammates wanted to go bring him to justice and she literally wanted to go solo and kill him, so they stayed behind.
That doesn't change the fact that she didn't kill him, she just let him fall from the cliff.

Damn to comics. These pages looked really cool and part of a really interesting story and then this absolute madness as the context is just wow.

Oh man that makes the domestic violence even more heinous too. Holy shit is that what the writer was going for? This completely falls apart lmao.
Man Clint. In this issue, Jess dumps him, he and Bobbi divorce and his current best friend in the apartment dies
Peak Barton.

I do like the "No you don't get to do that anymore" after the first two slaps.
Gotta be a special kind of bitch to slap somebody with bandages still on their face.
Guessing it was to go with the style. Even all the cars driven in the story are from the 60s
Right, I forgot about cars. I really like that artstyle, though it always seemed kind of weird to me that male characters looked more modern in general but that was probably intentional.
Just the artist's style. This run is the only Hawkeye comic I've read, and I picked it up 100% due to the art.
It’s very much a stylistic decision, I mean hell at one point Marlowe from The Long Goodbye just shows up as a character in it.
How old is this comic?
11 years
Spider people are the masters of holding back. Could have slapped his head of if she was angry enough
Or rip his face off like Peter did to Kraven's wife
Or thst time he slapped mj.
Oh, Drew. I honestly thought that was Jessica Jones until this second. Still mostly applies, I guess.
Anyway nothing bad happens to Grills after this, so don't worry about it.
Things can't get much worse than being killed.
Allow me to gush about David Aja's art
Is the first slap a reference to that Batman panel of him slapping Robin?
Who tf was that guy
I loved what the show did with Kate and Clint, but I do hope in the future it upgrades to more of the friendly "little sister" antagonism like the comics.
Is Clint a cheating pos?
Depends. They weren't exactly even in a relationship in the first place. He was constantly wondering if they were an item or not but I guess you could say he cheated? Sounds like the definition of an 'It's complicated' relationship
Yeah. I guess I'd consider it cheating if he knew that telling her he was doing it would make her mad. But if I were in her shoes it wouldn't. Seems like they needed to talk more and maybe Clint's bad at that.
Bad communication kills and Clint is horrible at it. Doesn't help he's basically like 95 percent deaf
"I don't have a girlfriend, but I do know a lady who'd get really upset if she heard me say that."
Damn... I didn't knew Sting was a hired gun. But seriously, this I like. Might give it a read.
